DYK for Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey
On 28 June 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, players control a lineage of apes until it reaches a stage that resembles Lucy? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Copy edit request of Far Cry 3
Hi! I've finished my first pass at copy editing Far Cry 3. I have a few notes and questions for you:
- I just want to be sure, is there a single Rook Island or are Rook Islands a series of islands referred to under a collective name?
Meanwhile, Jason has an affair with Citra after she drugs him and has sex with him in a hallucination.
Do they actually have an affair, or does Jason just think so due to the hallucination(s)?The team would then manually adjust the placement of different objects and test the outpost.
should that be 'output'?- It seems like there might be some repetition between the sections Plot and Development/Story. Plot is a little under 800 words and Story is a little under 900 (the recommended length for video game plots is 700 words WP:VG/CONTENT). Given that Plot sets the context for Story, I felt that anything which repeats plot information or gameplay information should probably be cut to keep it focused on the development of the story. Some specific cuts from Story which I'd recommend (or these could be moved to other sections):
- In the game, players follow Jason, an innocent young man dragged into an insane and murderous journey on Rook Island.
- The experience of Jason maturing is reflected in gameplay. Completing quests earns experience points and the game's upgrade trees slowly transform Jason into an effective combatant.
and that "it says something" about players themselves. Regarding the game's ending, where players can choose to kill his friends, Yohalem added that it will be interesting to examine why players could perform such actions. According to Yohalem, Far Cry 3 is a game that can "show [player's] angle" and allowed players to project what they view in the real world into what the game represents
I felt like these quotes weren't terribly illustrative and I summarized the passage. This creates a sense of discomfort to players.
Does this fit under development? Did they intent to create a sense of discomfort among the players?
- A lot of the development section is based on interviews; some care should be taken to be clear these are primary sources which may be biased. (eg: according to developer X...)
- Promotion and release might have non-notable details. According to Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Video games,
The use of release teasers, trailers, and social media is common throughout the industry, so specific details on these elements are generally unnecessary unless the nature of their presentation is something noted by sources.
Doug Creutz, an analyst from Cowen and Company, predicted that the game would reach 850,000 units sold in December 2012.
I don't feel this projection is needed when there are actual sales figures."kill these characters in the game in order to finish your entertainment"
I didn't find this quote in the source.
Would appreciate any clarification on these points. Thanks. – Reidgreg (talk) 19:11, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Reidgreg: - Sorry for the late reply. Rook Islands is a tropical archipelago with several islands. It is difficult to say whether she has an affair with Citra, given that this game likes to blur reality and hallucinations, but I believed he has. I think "output" is a good alternative. I don't mind trimming the repeating parts of the development#story section, though I don't think its word limit is limited by WP:VGSCOPE. Yes, they intended to create a sense of discomfort. I think Doug Creutz can be removed if you think it is unimportant. The quote "kill these characters in the game in order to finish your entertainment" can also be removed as I cannot find its source. Thank you once again for the copyediting efforts! OceanHok (talk) 05:40, 27 July 2019 (UTC)

July 2019
Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to 2019 Hong Kong anti-extradition bill protests, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Also, please don't remove tag without resolving the issue. Wikipedia is NOT a news / current affair website. Please wait for the publication of secondary source and then cite them, instead of adding content directly without cite. Matthew hk (talk) 17:25, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Matthew hk: - I admitted I put the source in the wrong place because of multiple edit conflicts. However, the RTHK source supports the statement about protesters fighting back with umbrella accurately and the problem of OR was resolved. That's why I removed the tag for OR because the issue is fixed. AdrianGamer (talk) 17:30, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- Interpretation of the video and photo and other form of WP:primary source is strictly prohibited. It is an original research. Only thing that it is not original research, was something like simple calculation. Matthew hk (talk) 17:35, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to 2019 Hong Kong anti-extradition bill protests, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Again. Please don't remove the tag until there is SECONDARY SOURCE to describe the event. Matthew hk (talk) 17:46, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- What is the point of giving me two separate warning templates of two different levels based on 1 edit? Anyway, RTHK clearly described what happened. It interprets and describes the online videos (primary source), right? Unless your justification is that RTHK is a government-funded broadcasting service, or else I failed to see how it is a primary source. RTHK is a credible secondary source that also exercises press freedom, despite being positioned under the government. For the text: Some of those targeted used umbrellas to try to fight off their attackers. AdrianGamer (talk) 18:07, 21 July 2019 (UTC)

Hello there, Hongkonger. Here's some vanilla ice cream!
Lakshmisreekanth (talk) has given you vanilla ice cream! Vanilla ice cream promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. You can spread the WikiLove by giving someone else vanilla ice cream, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend.
It's hot there at the protests. Have some ice cream.
To spread the goodness of vanilla ice cream, you can add {{subst:Vanilla ice cream}} to someone's talk page with a friendly message!
Hey
Can I get some explaination on why you don't consider Persona 5 Royal "a new game" as noted by this revision? I'm quite confused by this removal, so I would really like to obtain some arguments on your behalfs. --SansUT (talk | contributions) 02:20, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
- It is an expanded version of an existing game, thus it is not a new game. OceanHok (talk) 09:26, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
- (sorry for being late) Not a new game? Does that mean the Persona 3 FES entry in the 2008 in video gaming table doesn't count? I'm pretty confused when you mean "expanded version of an exising game" being the logic of said game not being a new entry. --SansUT (talk | contributions) 03:00, 8 September 2019 (UTC)

Gentle suggestion
If you don't want to have to manually re-insert the non-controversial edits you make, I'd suggest holding off on the ones that are iffy on WP:NPOV until after you've finished clean-up. This will mean I won't need to revert a bunch of grammar fixes along with stuff that doesn't pass muster. Simonm223 (talk) 13:11, 20 September 2019 (UTC)

Removal of maintenance template without before any discussion began.
Please do not remove maintenance templates if none of the issues at WP:WTRMT are reached. See, WP:WNTRMT for when you shouldn't be removing templates. KasimMejia (talk) 12:57, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
- @KasimMejia: - This was an abusive use of maintenance templates. You already have {{Disputed inline}} in place. A small and minor infobox issue does not justify the use of the big {{POV}} template per WP:TN. What you are doing is essentially hijacking a RfC and then saying that everyone who disagreed with you WP:IDONTLIKEIT (in a discussion that has nothing to do with China or anything that contradicts your viewpoint) before a consensus has been reached, and then slapped a WP:POV template into the page because at this point no one agrees with you in the talk page (yet) in a RfC (surprise!) that isn't about how we handle China in the infobox. This behavior is uncivil.
- I have no particular opinion as to whether China/US should be listed in the support section (so I didn't vote in the RfC), but I'd say starting another RfC In the talk page regarding the situation is a better idea than to slap a cleanup template hoping that some other editors would look and discuss at the talk page. OceanHok (talk) 13:26, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
- The non neutral inclusion of the belligerents in to the infobox is large enough issue that warrants a headline template. As for you telling me I'm doing this because everyone disagrees with me is a baseless accusation. What you're pretty much saying is, since everybody agrees on it, we can simply write original research material. You should read WP:DEM first of all regarding this, Wikipedia is not a ballot box and you can't break rules if you have majority.
- I'll reiterate my discussion here. The article infobox cites 2 sources, which state China verbally supporting the HK gov, and includes China under Support per these sources. Yet in the RfC users have opposed the inclusion of US under support even though US congress passed a bill supporting the protests. The talk page is very pro-protester. That does not mean they get to break rules and neutrality. KasimMejia (talk) 13:34, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
- In the RfC, people agree with the removal of the US from the infobox, not keeping China in the infobox. They are not the same, and you drag China into the discussion. There is no "majority" decision with keeping China in the infobox because it does not exist. As I have said, the way to go is to start another RfC about China, not slapping a template if you really want to resolve the issue. OceanHok (talk) 13:48, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
I would accept your advice in principle. And yet, it can be hard to determine what one should or should not be as standalone article. I will consider the issue more carefully before giving you further responses. Universehk (talk) 21:31, 15 November 2019 (UTC)
Consolidation of articles relating 2019 Hong Kong Protests
It seems not a bad idea for me to put protests in universities campus into one single article (e.g. 2019 Conflicts at Hong Kong Universities Campus). If we only combined all protests in one single article, it seriously harm the readability. It sounds better to cover other unis such as CityU/HKU as well. Question about making my article about EITR, the video game
Hello! I happened to come across your userpage and saw that you like to contribute to articles about upcoming video games, and I am trying to make an article about the upcoming game EITR, which is developed by Eneme Entertainment. I am having some struggles finding sources that has significant coverage about the game. I know that the game may have been in Development hell for a while, but I have found some new information regarding the game that I think would make it possible to turn my draft in to an article. I wonder if maybe you have some input here or if you would like to give me some advice/ help me with the draft in any way :) DariuZzandor 13:41, 25 February 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by DariuZzandor (talk • contribs)
- @DariuZzandor: - If you can find sufficient reliable sources (RS) to justify the subject's notability, it should be fine. 5-6 RS is enough, assuming that it is not too soon for the subject to have an article. OceanHok (talk) 12:03, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for getting back to me! Yeah, will do my best to find enough sources for it. I think that I will wait a bit though, as you mention it may be too soon for an article for this specific game. Again, thank you! DariuZzandor 13:24, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
Disruptive editing
While this may be disruptive, I'm now inclined to believe that it's not 100% necessary in the lead. Yes, there's a lot of anger associated with it, but the kid isn't dead. The details are already in the body, and we mustn't lose sight of what it means to be concise and correctly summarise the article. -- Ohc ¡digame! 11:16, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- I understood the National Day incident is not as relevant as it used to be, but his behavior is certainly disruptive and he is clearing pushing WP:POV earlier. I agree that the lead can be trimmed. It is way too long. OceanHok (talk) 11:43, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- I agree. See this -- Ohc ¡digame! 11:52, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Ohconfucius: - I don't think you can have "the first usage of live rounds" twice in the same event. It doesn't really make much sense to me. I mean, you can directly skip this part and said that the student was shot, but "the first usage of live rounds" happened on 25/8 and we have documented that in the history section. I could no find such a discussion on Talk:Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion, Talk:Splatoon 2, or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games. – PhilipTerryGraham (talk · articles · reviews) 02:35, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- @PhilipTerryGraham: - This is my edit summary. The parent article (Splatoon 2) is not long enough to warrant a split, and that the information in Octo Expansion is not substantial enough to be a standalone article. OceanHok (talk) 05:17, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- Alrighty. Just as a point of advice, it would be helpful to provide information in both your summaries, instead of just the one. I didn't think to go looking for an explanation in the parent article, since it ultimately makes more sense to have a summary on the page that was redirected, in my view. – PhilipTerryGraham (talk · articles · reviews) 07:11, 5 April 2020 (UTC)

GA review for Clint Hocking
Are you preparing a GA review for Clint Hocking? There have been no edits to the article or the GA review page for about two weeks. – Reidgreg (talk) 15:40, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, I still plan to do the review. However, I still have another GAN open with the same nominator (Talk:Media Molecule/GA1), so I may just let him finish that one first. OceanHok (talk) 17:46, 10 April 2020 (UTC)

Collaboration on 2019–20 Hong Kong protests
Hi OceanHok,
Considering you have written 39.6% of the article and edited it nearly 700 times I was wondering if you would like to help me got the article to Good Article or even Featured Article status. Considering it is such a big article I would really appreciate the help. You clearly have extensive knowledge of the GA criteria which would certainly help as I'm still a newbie in my eyes. This probably sounded super cringy so sorry about that, but please consider helping as I want to give something to the protesters.
Thanks in advance realFakeKim
- @RealFakeKim: - Sure, I can work with you on bringing the article to GA in the future. I do have plans to bring some of the subarticles like tactics and art to GA. This is actually my first time working on an article about a political subject too. However, I don't think we should push the article for GA/FA status when the protests are still ongoing, especially since this is a controversial subject. What we can do now is to ensure that the article is updated, the coverage is broad enough and see if we can bring the article back to WP:ITN when the protests pick up steam again. You can ask in the talk page of the protests article to see if other editors are interested as well. I am sure many editors from WP:HK have it watchlisted. OceanHok (talk) 17:09, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
- OceanHok If you give a full list of the subarticles you plan to get to GA I can see if I can add to them. I'm trying my best to keep it updated but I'm translating it from the chinese articles so if you can help translate we can update some of the timeline from around September where the Chinese version has more information. Considering you live in Hong Kong do you think the protests will pick up to where they where because right now it's not looking good for them. — RealFakeKimT 17:17, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
- I don't really have a list. The bulk of my attention is on the main article. I don't think we need to mention smaller protests for the earlier timeline articles because we want to focus on the significant ones that were reported by the foreign press or HK local english press (e.g. SCMP, Standard, HKFP, RTHK). Among the subarticles we have now, the only articles that can pass a GAN review now are the Extradition bill, Hong Kong Way, Blitzchung controversy and Glory to Hong Kong. For other articles, we need to wait until the end of the protests. When the coronavirus crisis is settled, I am pretty confident that large-scale protests will continue, and the LegCo election results in September will decide where the movement will go. That's just my analysis. OceanHok (talk) 18:12, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
- Fair enough. If not smaller protests than some other timeline things like the stuff I added in the April article about the politicians arrested etc. By the way when you say they can pass a GA review do you mean unedited or with work? — RealFakeKimT 18:49, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
- The politician arrest stuff is certainly ok. In the past, the title was "list of protests" and the scope was a bit narrower. The scope is now larger with "timeline" and information other than major protests can be included. The articles I have just mentioned certainly still need some work. You can find the main contributors by browsing the edit history and see if it is possible for collaboration. Glory to Hong Kong is a GA in zh-wiki as well. OceanHok (talk) 19:31, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
- OceanHok I'll put a message the 2019–20 Hong Kong protests talk padge and see if anyone else is willing to help. So far I see two main goals we have:
- Make sure all articles relating to the 2019–20 Hong Kong protests are up to date with the latesting information from English and Chinese news sources
- Improve articles of events that have already happened (e.g. Causes of the 2019–2020 Hong Kong protests, Timeline of the 2019–2020 Hong Kong protests (March–June 2019) & Chinese University of Hong Kong conflict) to GA/FA level — RealFakeKimT 07:26, 5 May 2020 (UTC)

Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice
Hi OceanHok, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.
Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.
To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!
Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)

Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Hi, I wanted to thank you for moving the article Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales to it's current form. I didn't know if I were to call it, as it is an add onto Marvel's Spider-Man but the Marvel part felt out of place. Thanks for clearing it up. Captain Galaxy (talk) 18:09, 12 June 2020 (UTC)
