Up for deletion again - Cordially SirIsaacBrock 22:23, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you, I have voted. Mushroom 04:30, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Why and how did you delete my page?
I recently put this message on the Clueless newbies page:
"I recently spent a couple of hours intensively researching for my first article that I decided to create. I noticed Wikipedia users had failed so far to mention an online song spoofing the Emo culture that has appeared recently. The Emo Kid song, written by Adam and Andrew, was a useful topic on which I decided to base my article on. I spent a couple of hours searching the Internet and finding reliable resources (e.g. the artists actual websites) only to find to my horror that "22:00, 21 January 2006 Mushroom deleted "Adam and andrew" (CSD A7)" I have no idea why. I would very much like it reinstated or at least explained why every single scrap of information was removed so hastily by "Mushroom" a few days after I proudly could say I had written my first full Wikipedia article. I would also like to know what CSD A7 means. Explanations? 11:15, 23 January 2006 (GMT)"
I would like to know why you deleted my article, and how, as I am under the belief that articles require votes of deletion and not just outright deletions with no explanation.
Please help, and is it possible to reinstate my article, as you can probably expect I spent a large amount of time writing it and it is rather a kick in the face to have it taken off the site so swiftly.
Thanks, WillFirminger 11:29 23rd Jan 2006
- Hi Will, I will answer on your talk page. Mushroom 04:32, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
User Doright uses you to attack me
Dear Mushroom:
Please notice that user Doright has used your name to attack me. I have been putting up with constant attack from this user for months and do not know how much longer I can stand it. Please look into the matter on the Category: Antisemitism (People) page. --CTSWyneken 02:49, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hi CTS. That category is up for deletion, and I see that you have already voted. The most important thing now is making sure that it gets deleted: it's a duplicate, and if it's not a duplicate, as Doright says, it's POV. I don't think many Wikipedians will vote keep, seeing what the category is about and how/why it was created. I suggest that you ignore any personal attacks made from Doright on the Category talk page, since that will be deleted anyway when the AfD process ends. If he/she attacks you in any other way please let me know and I'll see what I can do. Mushroom 04:28, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
a speedy del
this really needs a speedy delete could you do it please: User:Markaci/Nudity. thanks Benon 05:07, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but I can't speedy delete it since it's in the User: namespace. If you think it should be deleted, you can nominate it at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion. Mushroom 05:18, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
HeHeH...
I didn't know I was a "non notable band" "LOL"! 68.39.174.238 06:26, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

bring back the panty waste
I certainly hope this is not going to become my full time job(it was just the other day I had to make this same argument), but I would politely ask you to bring back the term panty waste,as you claim that it is nonsence is not founded. A quick google of the term will show you that it has several references is "pop culture". I f you still feel that the article does not warrent an encyclopedic entry then how about placing it up for discussion, to allow a vote on it's validity. An article I helped write earlier called taint (slang) stood up to this test and passed. I recognize that the article is not complete, but that is why I put a stub at the end of it. I was supposed to finish it today with aquaintances by the names of dan and pamento. If you look up the term along with films you will find a link to MVP most valuable primate, so it is has relevance, and if cleaned up should be allowed to stay. Thank you for your timePickelbarrel 14:56, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
- I have restored it and nominated it for deletion. Mushroom 15:15, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Speedy deletes challenged
Several of your speedy deletes are now being discussed on deletion review, and in each case there seems to be a likelihood that the deletion will be overturned. You may want to contribute to teh discussion there. Also you may want to re-read WP:CSD, and note that "spam" is not a speedy criterion, nor is "non-notability" except for indvidual people, and such groups as clubs and bands. Corporations are specifically not considered as "groups" subject to A7 deletions. Many admins and other editors, including me, think that the speedy deletion criterion ought to be interptetd fairly strictly, and anythign that does not clearly qualify should not be speedy deleted, but instead run through AfD. Please consider this in future. DES (talk) 18:21, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you. In the last few days I have made an unusual amount of deletions (approximately 1000 in three days), so it's perfectly reasonable that I made a small number of mistakes. Usually, if an editor asks me to restore the deleted article, I accept his/her request and nominate it for AfD. Furthermore, sometimes I may have provided the wrong reason for a deletion, but this doesn't mean that there weren't grounds for that deletion. Anyway, I will try to be more careful in the future, and I will also check all those requests for deletion review. Mushroom 20:03, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
I have put both these articles up for discussion and objection to your speedy deletion along with notable references which I hope will change the situation. If the articles aren't reinstated for whatever reason is there any way you could return to me what I have written? Thanks, WillFirminger 19:18 24th January 2006 (UTC)
- I have voted for the un-deletion of those articles, since you dispute their non-notability. I can return you the text you have written in any moment since all administrators have access to deleted pages (they aren't really deleted). Mushroom 20:33, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi. You recently speedily deleted this article with the reason 'non-notable'. Please note that perceived lack of notability is not a criterion for speedy deletion, only articles which fail to assert notability are covered. I've undeleted the article so it can be sent to WP:AFD. Cheers, --Nick Boalch ?!? 23:01, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, obviously I didn't delete that article because I thought it was "not-notable", I deleted it because I thought it "didn't assert enough notability". But I find it to difficult to decide what falls under A7 and what doesn't, so I've decided that from now on I will abstain from deleting articles citing only A7 as a reason. This should solve the problem. Thank you. Mushroom 01:55, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
You deleted this before I even had a chance to finish the article. May I ask why? Arundhati Bakshi 14:02, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I deleted it since it consisted only of an image. Please feel free to recreate it anytime. Thank you. Mushroom 14:06, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
Could you wait a little longer next time? I was writing it when I got the message that it had already been deleted!
- I already said it, but I will say it again: I'm sorry. I promise that I will wait longer next time, please forgive my mistake. Thank you. Mushroom 14:11, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
It's OK, I was just kind of baffled. I thought I had violated some guideline unawares at first.
- Thank you for understanding. I want to make clear that you did absolutely nothing wrong, it was entirely my mistake. Mushroom 16:24, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
No problem. I am new here so was trying to be accurate but also am aware that I may be unaware of some rules. Thanks for the assistance. :)
The guy that moved the article to Big DIpper (asterism) has since moved it back. So the article got recreated. One thing though when deleting articles remember to check the what links here. There were 25 other articles that linked to Big Dipper and they were all red links. I had just finished fixing them when the Big Dipper article reappeared and I had to change them back. Cheers 15:43, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I will try to be more careful in future. Mushroom 15:46, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
Question
Hey, I just noticed that you're from Italy...the country of my dreams! I have an Italian account...do you? My username is ViolinoRagazza. If you have an account there, I would be honored if you would serve as a sort of mentor to me there. I'm not on it a lot, but it's very confusing...I thought they would be set up the exact same way...I should have known better, but I'm really confused. Anyway, if you could lend me some occasional assistance there, I would be indebted. Grazie! --ViolinGirl♪ 16:39, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- I have an account on the Italian Wikipedia, it's Mushroom, like this one. Due to multiple reasons, I prefer to edit here rather than there, so I don't even have a "real" user page there, just two lines of text. But if you need a quick translation or any kind of assistance please ask and I'll gladly help you. Mushroom 16:50, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- Opps, I responded on your talk page at it.wikipedia...oh well. What I was really looking for (as explained on your talk page) was the test templates? Actually, if the it.wikipedia has a list of all templates like we do (wherever it is), that would be terrific. Thanks so much for your offer of help! Ciao!--ViolinGirl♪ 18:39, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- I have answered on your Italian talk page. Mushroom 08:33, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
- Grazie, Mushroom. I was totally lost, you helped a lot. It seems like the Italian wiki is a little harder to get around in...but maybe it's just my lack of language skills! ;) Thanks so much...I'll take the liberty of being in touch if I need help again. Ciao!--ViolinGirl♪ 13:18, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
- No problem, ViolinGirl. I find the Italian Wikipedia a bit less organized and a bit more confusing than the English one. But obviously we can improve it :) Feel free to contact me anytime if you need help. Mushroom 15:49, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for your welcome. I wanted to start to translate english wiki pages to slovak, but I don't know how yet. So I started page for Phantasma. Then wrote page for Obliterate quite short but somebody, deleted it...

Help with the main page redesign
Hello, as part of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Usability/Main Page/Draft I imported the Italian version (it:Pagina_principale) and "translated" it here. My questions are about the footer pictures at the bottom of each box ( and ). Could you perhaps ask a few questions at the Italian project?
- Are there others related pics?
- Perhaps one relating to other seasons of the year?
- What is the source of these ones?
Any information would be appreciated. - Trevor MacInnis (Talk | Contribs) 22:09, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- I have asked, I'm waiting for an answer. Mushroom 08:57, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Why?
Why did you delete the image File:Qantas-Flight-Simulator.JPG? I created it myself as a screenshot of my program, so it surely wasn't a copyvio--M W Johnson 06:58, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
- Please read the fair use policy. It clearly states:
- [Fair use images] should never be used on templates (including stub templates and navigation boxes) or on user pages.
- That image had been tagged as "orphaned fair use" for over seven days, so I deleted it. Mushroom 07:37, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
- On second thought, maybe I should have warned you before deleting the image. I apologize for this. Mushroom 07:50, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Just a question
Hi Mushroom, just a quick question. The welcome message I got from you, is it automated and why did I get one? Don't take it wrong, I'm very glad I got one :) - it's purely out of curiousity! And I really like Wikipedia by the way.--DMichel 15:54, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
- It's not automated (I added it manually), but it's a template. You can see it here. I put it on your talk page since you were making good edits, and I thought it could be useful. If you have other questions or doubts, please feel free to ask. Happy editing! Mushroom 16:04, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for appreciating my edits! And I'm sure I'll contact you in the future, you're very friendly. Cheers.--DMichel 16:16, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Unblocking me
Unfortunately, User:FireFox tells me it is against policy to unblock me. I'm thinking of pleading my case to Jimbo, because my ISP seems not to be interested in helping me (or telling me who to ask, because the problem isn't on their network. --대조 | Talk 16:31, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I know about this open proxy block thing. It's right to block them since they could be used for vandalism, but I think there should be exceptions: you're a good editor and there's no need to keep you blocked. If you propose an unblock, you can count on my full support. Mushroom 17:30, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Removed my own
On the Jobs talk page, you reverted something written by me that had been removed. The person was in the process of contacting me to explain why, I went in to the site and it was back again with your note (it was not an edit by Orz). I have now removed this myself. chumleyk
- I reverted it thinking that it was a case of vandalism. But since you are the author, you have every right to remove it. Thank you for explaining this to me, I won't revert it again. By the way, may I know why you removed it? I read it and I found it quite interesting. Mushroom 22:05, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
- (Feel free not to answer if you don't want to, sometimes I'm just too curious). Mushroom 22:12, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
-- Thank you, Mushroom. The reason was legal. You are forbidden to reveal the contents of the original birth certificate (i.e.the one showing the biological parent or parents) of adopted children. Even if it is just a supposition. - chumleyk

Article deletion
I am wondering why you deleted my article on 2008-09. You deleted it on 07:11 24 January 2006. I was going to add more information in the near future. The reason you gave was CSD A1. I do not know what this means. I hope you can clarify with me soon. Thank You! --Siva1979Talk to me 14:37, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- CSD A1 means "Very short articles providing little or no context", you can see its meaning at Criteria for speedy deletion. The article had been tagged by another user, I saw it at Candidates for speedy deletion and since it was so short I deleted it. I'm sorry, I didn't know that you were planning on expanding it. Now I have restored it. Mushroom 14:53, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
You don't seem to get the idea behind the rule of maintaining Englishes, when an article is using Commonwealth, all added English is to be Commonwealth. Besides, I'm the one that added the template. I'm fine with making it match the article. Janizary 21:58, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- The article is not using Commonwealth: it uses 18 times "license" or "licensing" and 19 times "licence" or "licencing". But I don't care about this, you can change all the text to be Commonwealth if you want. I just want to avoid redirects, so I will change those links again. The readers won't see them anyway. Permission request
I've posted this on the assistance (misc) page, but the guy is waiting for my reply and I don't want to take too long.
I'm writing to one of the authors of a journal article to get permission to use an image for wikipedia. I've already acquired permission from the publisher. My questions are; a) do I need permission from all authors? b) should I disclose that I already have permission from the publisher? c) the good Dr. emailed me with the option to email him back or to send a letter via post. If I email, do I put my address etc in the email like a paper based letter? d) Can you check my letter for me?
Dear Dr. R Higuchi,
I am writing to request permission to use an image from one of your published papers in an article on the subject of PCR overlap extension on www.wikipedia.com, a free user-edited encyclopedia on the Internet. The image in question was published in Nucleic Acids Research in 1988, in an article entitled “A general method of in vitro preparation and specific mutagenesis of DNA fragments: study of protein and DNA interactions”. The image is Fig. 4 of page 7360. I look forward to hearing from you in due course,
Yours sincerely, Sean Smith
--Username132 19:09, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- I have found the article here. It has been released under an open access license that says:
- The person using Nucleic Acids Research Online may use, reproduce, disseminate, or display the open access version of content from this journal for non-commercial purposes
- ANY USE of the open access version of this Journal in whole or in part must include the customary bibliographic citation, including author and publisher attribution, date, article title, Nucleic Acids Research, and the URL http://nar.oxfordjournals.org/ and MUST include a copy of the copyright notice. If an original work is subsequently reproduced or disseminated not in its entirety but only in part or as a derivative work this must be clearly indicated
- I'm not an expert in this field, but this license is stricter than the GFDL since it's non-commercial. Now, the first thing you should do is discover who is the copyright holder. You can ask this to the publisher or to the author himself, they should know it. Then, there are two possibilities:
- You use one of the example letters at Wikipedia:Boilerplate request for permission asking to the copyright holder (author, publisher, or both) to re-release the image under the GFDL. You can try this, but I don't know if the publisher would accept it, since they have already chosen a stricter license.
- You use the image under fair use. In this case, the letter you wrote is ok. Adding your address would make it seem more serious, and you should say that the publisher has already given permission. If the author agrees, you can upload the image adding the licensing information to the image's description page, and tag it as {{Non-free fair use in}} and {{withpermission}}.

Image:Qantas-Flight-Simulator.jpg
Regarding the image you deleted, was it in WP:IFD or did you delete it on the spot. Just interested to know whatever happened to my first upload--M W Johnson 02:53, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
- It was not on WP:IFD, it had been tagged on January 12 2006 by the Roomba bot. I found it on Candidates for speedy deletion, in Gmaxwell's live report of orphaned fair use images. Mushroom 10:45, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

I wish you would vote in the argument of speedy deleting Markaci/Nudity. It has nothing to do with wikipedia, and besides, your vote would help greatly! Vninja

Hi Mushroom, and thanks for your welcome! I hope I can help make Wikipedia even better. I don't know if I have the personal discipline to write an entire article by myself, but I do know that I can contribute to stubs and existing articles.
I have a question: is there a page that will take you to a random stub?
Thanks again! -- Tachikoma 21:00, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
- You're welcome, and I'm glad you want to contribute to Wikipedia. There isn't a specific page to see random stubs, but you can use the Random article link in the bar on the left and there is a high probability that it will take you to a stub. You can also see the list of all stub types or view them by category. If you need anything else, don't hesitate to ask. Happy editing! Mushroom (Talk) 22:00, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi Mushroom!
Thanks for the welcome, I wasn't exactly expecting to do anything in here, but it may be that I'll have a useful bit of information no one else has added yet somewhere. It'll take some looking to find it. But yes, thank you for the welcome, at any rate. Syrra 03:15, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
My RfA
Thank you for your kind support of my RfA. Whilst I feel I have now gained good experience with editing Wikipedia, and would be keen to be made an administrator and participate in sysop chores, I feel I must regretfully decline this nomination as having been made potentially in bad faith by a new user, whose only contributions have been to RfA pages. Bling-chav has recently made several RfA nominations, including one for himself, and I suspect I have been nominated by a user who, at the very least, fails to understand the ethos of Wikipedia and the basic guidelines for an editor to be made an administrator. I think to accept such a nomination would be (rightly) deemed innappropriate, although I am likely to accept any genuine nomination in future. Thanks again for your support. └ UkPaolo/talk┐ 17:12, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
My RFA
Hi Mushroom/Archive 3, thanks for participating in my RfA discussion. Unfortunately, my fellow Wikipedians have decided at this time that I am not suitable to take on this additional responsibility, as the RfA failed with a result of 66/27/5 (71.0% support). If you voted in support of my request, thank you! If you decided to oppose me at this time, then I hope that if I do choose to reapply in the future, the effort I will make in the meantime to improve and expand my contributions to Wikipedia may persuade you to reconsider your position. All the best, Proto t c 10:37, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
