Please stop removing table captions
[edit]http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Caitlin_Clark&diff=next&oldid=1222812159 Why do you keep on doing this? Have you read MOS:TABLECAPTION? ―Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 02:54, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Justin, I made the above edit before I saw and reviewed your feedback. I was unaware of the full details/standards in the MOS:TABLECAPTION article and have since reviewed it. Duly noted. This will impact my future edits immediately. Thanks for the feedback. Mariacricket (talk) 05:04, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- Lovely. Thanks kindly and genuinely appreciated. Could you please add table captions to the stats tables there? If you can't, please let me know and I'll do it. ―Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 05:06, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- No problem. Done! Mariacricket (talk) 05:13, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

Ranges for college years in basketball infobox
[edit]Consensus is generally that it shows the years played, not the years attended/on roster if they didn’t play. This mirrors the way professional tenures are shown. If a player has a redshirt year (or doesn’t play for some other reason like ineligibility) at the front or back of the range, it just isn’t shown. However, if the player has a missed year in the middle (example, plays freshman year, sits out sophomore year, returns the following year) it just gets included in the range for the sake of brevity/space. The exception is a gap of two or more years, where two ranges are shown (you can look at BYU players like Devin Durrant, who did a 2-year Mormon mission, for examples).
The other examples you cited in your edit summary were players with redshirt seasons within the range, not on one of the ends like Martin.
Hope this helps. Rikster2 (talk) 14:15, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- By the way, thank you for your edits. We need more women’s basketball editors so I hope you stick around. Rikster2 (talk) 14:16, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, that's very kind. Hoping to keep learning and then keep on editing. Maybe one day I'll be on your level! Mariacricket (talk) 21:23, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- Got it! I was unlucky in finding a definitive consensus on this, but your explanation makes sense to me. Thanks for the feedback! Mariacricket (talk) 21:20, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
WNBA Edits
[edit]Hi Mariacricket! Thanks for all your help with the WNBA edits to start the season. I've been doing them for the last few years and just wanted to explain why a few things are the way they are. On the team specific season pages, I will put a full players name in the high points/high rebounds/high assist section to match NBA pages, like this one. I guess I shouldn't be wikilinking a player every time, but I have in the past. On the main season page I won't put a full name to save some space. I try to keep a to-do list for anyone who wants to help with historic stuff here. That's especially helpful to keep track of players needing pages, which it looks like we're good on at the moment. There are plenty of coaches that need one, but a lot of those don't pass WP:GNG. I'm also starting to work on formatting old pages to match more recent ones, but that's going to be a long road. Feel free to ping me if you have any questions about things! Swimmer33 (talk) 19:19, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- Ah yes! Happy you reached out about this. I was wondering if there was a consensus for formatting these basketball stats tables. Thanks for clarifying and explaining. I'll start implementing this going forward.
- I've been doing mostly women's soccer edits for the past few years, but saw some opportunity to help out with women's basketball. I'll definitely be checking out those project pages. Thanks for the warm welcome! Mariacricket (talk) 18:04, 25 May 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hi,
Thanks for uploading File:BigTen 2023 Iowa v. Maryland - K.Martin1.jpg. I've moved it to Wikimedia Commons under the same name. This allows the image to be accessible from any of our sister projects such as other language Wikipedias. If you are uploading any free images in the future, consider uploading to Commons. Thanks. -- Whpq (talk) 13:27, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks! Just started dipping my toes into uploads on here. Will take a look into Wikimedia Commons before uploading again. Mariacricket (talk) 17:49, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
