You saved my wiki page from deletion, so Dan love you long time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darwoodster (talkcontribs) 18:28, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi Darwoodster, I have to say, I haven't exactly saved your article. I just disagreed that it met either of the speedy deletion criteria put forth. Other work is still needed, and Drmies's suggestions below merit consideration. LadyofShalott 00:10, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
Over my dead body. The Lady is mine. Hey Lady, well, what can I say. This must be our second spat--are you seeing another admin? What's clear is the following: the club may be notable but needs its own article/title. Whatever Irish content is worth saving should be merged into the one I suggested on the talk page, or something else--it does not stand alone yet. I trust you'll get your spacebar fixed and get on it--and then I expect you to straighten up your act and come back to me. Hey, it's not Discospinster, is it? Or Sandy? Oh, no! Not Balloonman--he is married! Drmies (talk) 18:40, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
Shhhh, don't tell anyone, but I saw Lady and Mandarax filling out papers to goto Burning Man together. Isn't there some regulation about an admin fraternizing with an enlisted? Well you can't have him Lady, because he is all mine. I am a worshiper of the great and mighty Mandarax. Bgwhite (talk) 19:11, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
We all are, Bg. [Well, you and I are.] Lady, is this true? Just tell me one thing: are you two Facebook friends? Drmies (talk) 19:48, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
Oh Mandarax is worthy of many worshippers, and I am amongst them. Nope, I'm not worthy of being Mandarax's Facebook friend, apparently... sniff, sniff. LadyofShalott 00:10, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
Awwwww, thanks! You're all soooooo nice!

As I mentioned on my talk page, I'm almost certainly not going to Burning Man this year. And Facebook? What's that? MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 19:50, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Hehe, I just noticed this. I'd like to thank all of my disciples for their worship. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 22:27, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

    • Aww, Drmies, no need to sulk. Hasn't someone accused us of being the same person? The fact that we don't hold the exact same opinions all the time is evidence that we're not unless it's evidence of our diabolical plot. LadyofShalott 00:10, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
      • Hmm, really, well, who was the message from? And what did it say? And is Mandarax's birthday on your bathroom calendar? Well? (Hey, next time you come down here, we're having Belgian beers at El Rey! Unless you are sharing a Bud Light at Burning Man, of course.) Drmies (talk) 06:49, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
        • Beer, even light beer, is a real treat on the playa. People are giving out alcohol everywhere you go; it's easier to get than water. But it's mostly generic jungle juice of one sort or another. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 19:50, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Online Ambassador, Spring 2012

Hi, LadyofShalott! As you probably know, the Wikipedia Education Program has instilled a new set of standards that courses must meet to officially join the program for the semester. As you can see, one of the requirements is that at least one ambassador or professor is a Wikipedian, as this should give students more access to helpful information about contributing to Wikipedia and creating good content. You are listed on the Online Ambassador page; are you still interested in remaining active this semester? Some of these classes will have to remove themselves from the program should they fail to meet these standards, but we would like to ensure that new students are receiving proper support during the editing process. Please let me know if you are still interested in mentoring these students this semester and/or visit the Online Ambassador talk page to select a course that still needs an Online Ambassador. Thank you! JMathewson (WMF) (talk) 18:20, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

I just saw that you're helping a course at Ball State, so feel free to ignore my message, unless you're interested in taking on another course that still needs support. Thanks. JMathewson (WMF) (talk) 18:48, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Further regarding article on Abdul Qavi Desnavi 16:16, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Dear Lady of Shalott, Further regarding article on Abdul Qavi Desnavi, finally edited by Ehsan Sehgal his new user name is Justice007 on 30 Dec. 2011. His edits are not constructive. I consider, he is not familiar with topic, it seems he never read books & writing of Desnavi. He deleted important matters from the article, even the name of books from the list. Desnavi has written around 50 books ( Ref. http://www.worldcat.org/wcidentities/lccn-n84-206925 ) but he mentioned only 13 books & deleted rest from the list. Even he given wrong Ref. (see, http://theindianawaaz.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2992&catid=12 )

That ref. is from news paper that only given one name of his book. In brief, I think said article not need any correction, in case if it is not in parameter of Wikipedia then it can be corrected by any of his editor but should not allow for deletion of matter which has proper references. Almost 45 days passed nobody has rated the article after deletion of matter, if you check history you will find the article was rated by many readers. As you had commented earlier on the article, so I requested please go through original article ( http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/User:Bpldxb/sandbox ) & judge yourself. DYK for Mildred Lewis Rutherford

Casliber (talk · contribs) 16:05, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

<--I just took a look at that DYKStats page, and I don't know what to do with it. It asks for page views while on DYK, but the toolserver page appears to give the number for the whole day, and those aren't the same thing. LadyofShalott 23:50, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

One always gets credit for the whole day, and, depending on time of appearance, sometimes for the next whole day too. Mildred would normally be such a case, and is even more so than usual, since, due to an oversight, it spent almost two and half extra hours on the Main Page, and that extra time was the next WikiDay. BTW, someone tends to take care of adding to the stats page if the article creator doesn't.

As for the typing, I remember an incident where the Doc also typed with his hand(s) shifted from home position, but I'm uncharacteristically not going to go find that. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 00:08, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Oh, OK, I'm glad you know these things. I'll leave it to whatever gnome (are you that someone?) who adds it then. LadyofShalott 00:23, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
A gnome will probably take care of it, but you should generally check to make sure. No, that's not something I tend to tend to. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 01:29, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
I just checked, and some nice gnomey type did list it, and it got more hits than I'd seen, probably because of the error you described above (which I'd never have known about if you hadn't told me). LadyofShalott 03:46, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Yep. And I had added the stats to the talk page. It's slightly odd because {{dyktalk}} adds "approximately", but the traffic stats page was recently updated to display exact numbers rather than rounded-off ones. So it says that the page was viewed "approximately 7,774 times". That seems like a pretty precise approximation. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 04:14, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Oh, thanks - I had not seen that. I suppose "approximately 7,774 times" could be appropriate phrasing if the accuracy of the number (as opposed to its precision) is in doubt. I wonder if there's any reason to doubt the accuracy though. LadyofShalott 04:34, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Well, for one thing, we don't know how accurate the figure for views exclusively due to DYK is.

I meant to correct an inaccuracy days ago, forgot, then just remembered for some reason. I'm sure you don't care, but it's in my nature to correct inaccuracies anyways. I said that one "always gets credit for the whole day". This is true except if the article gets significant traffic from other sources, such as being in the news or featured on some other website, or if the DYK was an expansion of an article which regularly receives high page views. In such cases, the DYK page views are adjusted. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 10:48, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

We actually did well on this article. I'm not closely parsing this as to a particular day, but Mildred_Lewis_Rutherford has been viewed 8258 times as of today. For material on an obscure early 20th century figure, this is good. 7&6=thirteen () 12:26, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

A new Tachash?

Have a look at Biblical canon. Drmies (talk) 05:04, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, that is large. Without having rad really any of it, just scanning down the page, my initial thought is that this really is a large topic; whereas Tachash is a small topic that was bogged down in minutia. That seems an important distinction - although, as I said, I haven't actually read it yet. LadyofShalott 05:13, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
Hm good point. You know, since I started working those SPIs I'm smelling socks all over the place. I found a great pair of socks today--unfortunately the evidence didn't confirm it, but that's just a technicality. Drmies (talk) 05:16, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Asexuality article

Hello, LadyofShalott. Thank you for making these edits. As can be seen here, I also expressed concern about that addition. Information about the flag was removed before because of no reliable sources, unless you count the AVEN forums, backing it (there's discussion about that on the article talk page). List of New Mexico Activities Association championships

Hi, I noticed you reverted a recent edit to the List of New Mexico Activities Association championships. I checked it out and it was accurate information: St. Michael's, Piedra Vista, and V. Sue Cleveland were the 2012 State Champions for AAA, AAAA, and AAAAA respectively. Was there another reason why you reverted this edit? Greg Comlish (talk) 18:40, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Yes - the reason is that the edit was performed by a now-confirmed sockpuppet of a banned user (User:PoliticianTexas). If you've verified the information, feel free to put it back yourself (but do it as a fresh edit - please don't just revert me). LadyofShalott 18:42, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Hey, I live in the Southeastern United States - we have jonquils in bloom. :) LadyofShalott 19:02, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Not checked the link but that picture is a daff, surely? I am temporarily an expert on daffs, courtesy of John Horsefield, and aim to buy some Narcissus horsefieldi, complete with their bi-colour trumpet (!?), in commemoration of that local hero. There is only one supplier in the UK. I've got to find some of his lily also. - Sitush (talk) 20:01, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Meh. I've read Narcissus jonquilla now. It's a daff, just like my horsefieldi. And that is at my absolute limit of knowledge of flowers: rose, daff, daisy, dandelion, weed (two types: allegedly medicinal and unwanted). :p Sitush (talk) 20:21, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Not "weeds" - the word is "wildflowers". ;-) LadyofShalott 21:13, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I suppose so. It's the old "a weed is only a flower growing in the wrong place" idea. I have actually planted some bulbs and they are sprouting, but I haven't got a clue what it was that I planted. Could be triffids for all I know. - Sitush (talk) 21:19, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

ENG 604 Teaching With Technology

Greetings LadyofShalott and thanks for agreeing to be our online ambassador. The students in our class are working on their article possibilities now, and will soon be posting in this page links to their user pages, where they have listed some article possibilities for your review and comment. I'm assuming you will be contacting them in their User:Talk pages--if you'd prefer something different, just let us know. Webster Newbold (talk) 03:50, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

I can talk to them at whichever pages are relevant, including their own talk pages. I'd just ask for a link to any pertinent page I might otherwise miss.
  • Hello to you all! I've put the welcome with its list of useful links on each of your usertalk pages. It sounds like you are all well on your way to choosing topics on which to focus. Dante - the way I put those links was with a template: {{subst:welcomemenu}} expands into the text I added to your pages. Kat, if you want to recreate the post-process article, I suggest starting from scratch - there really was not much useful in the version that was deleted (and that is pretty much why it was deleted). If you do want to work from that, I can move the deleted version to your sandbox. (You should all know about sandboxes. It is a place in your userspace where you can work on drafting an article before it's ready to be in the mainspace. If you need help starting one, let me know). LadyofShalott 03:29, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Crickrhet

Hello! This is User talk:Crickrhet from ENG 604. Thank you for your help with our projects. I have researched 4 possible topics/pages for improvement and would like your advice. On the Rhetoric page, the "Rhetoric in the 18th and 19th centuries" section only discusses Scottish Belletristic rhetoric and Hugh Blair. On the same page, the "Epistemology" section jumps from Plato to the 20th century. Also, the Rhetorical modes page is basically a stub with a few lists. The Rhetorical stance page is also very sparse. The information on both of these pages is incomplete in the depth and breadth of the coverage. I don't see much recent history or action and think there is a lot of potential for improving these sections/pages. Do you agree or have any suggestions? Thanks again! Crickrhet (talk) 00:09, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Hi Crickrhet, I have not yet looked at the pages, but they do sound ripe for expansion. I suggest picking the one that interests you most and going for it. I'll look at them more closely in a bit. Meanwhile, if you have any further questions as you begin your work, please know this is an open door, and I'll try to point you in the right direction. LadyofShalott 00:39, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Hello again Lady of Shallot. Thank you for your previous comments regarding my choice of articles. I have also been finalizing my article on "Rhetorical Stance" in my personal sandbox and am hoping you could take a look at it for 1) any formatting or citation mistakes I missed after reading the Style Manual, and 2) any problems with tone. I appreciate your input. Thanks!Crickrhet (talk) 00:48, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Katgreene

Hello! My name is User talk:Katgreene also from ENG 604. I'm interested in the Process Theory discussion. I'd like to contribute to Process theory of composition and round out the information that is there. I'd like to include the conversation about product versus product and what some of the criticisms of the theory were, as well as how it gave way to Post-Process Theory/Social Construction Theory. Another article I'm interested in is recreating a Post-process article. Currently, the page says it was deleted. Again, I'd like to talk about what the theory was, who were the big names, and it's current context in the composition field. Finally, I'm interested in contributing to Writer's block. I'd like to add a composition perspective and discuss how audience and invention (or lack thereof) have key roles in the process of writing. I'd like to discuss the reasons, from a composition stand point with considerations of audience and invention, on why some writer;s experience a block. Thanks for all your help. I look forward to hearing from you! Katgreene (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 02:30, 9 February 2012 (UTC).

Hi again, I been working on a update to the writer's block article. Please find my work in progress on my talk page. I'd love your feedback and suggestions as to how I can improve my article. Thanks for your help! Katgreene (talk) 02:08, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

DerelictDante

Hi LadyofShalott. This is User talk: DerelictDante from ENG 604. I'd like to echo Crickrhet's thanks to you for being our ambassador. As you can see on my talk page, I have a few articles that interest me, mostly the Adams Sherman Hill page (I did a lot of research on his last semester, and it pains me to see so little of it on his page). Two quick questions: How did you post those links to Crickrhet's talk page (and can you do that for me as well?) And second, if I am interested in developing a page, do you have any formatting advice from your experiences (in terms of good paragraph and section length?) Thanks! DerelictDante (talk) 02:33, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Hello again, Lady of Shallot. I've pretty extensively updated my entry on Adams Sherman Hill in my sandbox. I was wondering if you could take a look and offer me any further suggestions. Like User:Acburke1, I too am having a very hard time finding public domain images of my subject. The only options I have found online were through Harvard's Fine Arts Library, special collections, but they require permissions to use, so I guess that's out. If you have any other ideas, I'd be glad to hear them! Thanks again! DerelictDante (talk) 22:23, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
One more question, if you have time. I did find an image of A.S. Hill on Harvard's VIA website, but I was a little confused about the permissions. Do you have any experience in dealing with databases such as these? Is it okay to use this image if I offer credit? I was initially sure that I wasn't allowed, but now that I read it, it sounds like if I cite the source of the archive, it is okay? But then don't I have to place the image in Wiki commons? I'm really confused by the permissions for images... DerelictDante (talk) 17:02, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Hi Dante, this area is not really my forte - either the finding of copyright free images or use of images from a database like that. One thing that I know you can do sometimes is find an image in a public domain book to use. Sometimes you can find such an image in a book on Google Books, take a screenshot from their scan and upload it. You might try this for your Hill article. As for the database image, I don't know what to tell you, but I'd suggest asking at WP:Media copyright questions. That page is patrolled by folks much more knowledgeable about this topic than I. LadyofShalott 01:07, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

Bcgelms

Hi Lady of Shallott! I'm User:Bcgelms from ENG 604. Dr. Newbold asked us to post 3-4 potential project ideas on our Talk pages: User talk:Bcgelms. I currently only have 2 listed, mainly because I am particularly interested in the lack of information on Wikipedia regarding the "Writing About Writing" approach to teaching compostion. I'm interested in outline the prominent theorists associated with this branch of composition studies and discussing the philosophy behind this approach. Do you have any advice for a newbie Wikipedian on creating an entire new page? Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom and your help with our class this semester! Bcgelms (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 02:48, 9 February 2012 (UTC).

Hi again! This is User:Bcgelms. I am still working on my article about Writing About Writing, but I have a substantial start. Feel free to look things over in my sandbox User:Bcgelms/Personal sandbox and leave me comments on the Talk page :)There you will also find a brief discussion of my future plans for the article. Thank you, inadvance, for all of your help with our class! Bcgelms (talk) 22:32, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
Hi Lady of Shallot. I've been finalizing my article and was wondering if you could offer some feedback. Do I need to put a footnote reference at the end of every direct quote? Also, would you recommend I not use so many direct quotes? Thanks in advance for your consideration :) Bcgelms (talk) 02:11, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
Hi again. Yes, you do need to footnote every direct quote: someone reading the article should be able to see exactly where (prefereably including page number) you got that quote from. As for the number of them, well I tend to go heavy on the direct quotes myself when writing an article. :) Don't forget about the logical quotation style that Wikipedia uses. Hi, Lady of Shallot! I'm User talk:Jonahkasha from ENG 604 at Ball State. Thanks in advance you your help! I have a particular interest in research writing strategies to better serve college students on the autism spectrum. The three pages I was looking at to make contributions to along these lines were Autism, Autism spectrum and Writing process. I look forward to hearing from you. Jonahkasha (talk) 16:53, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Greetings, Lady of Shallot. It's been suggested to me to use more subheads in my entry on writing process and strategies for students with disabilities and then developing those. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks! Jonahkasha (talk) 02:05, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
Hi Jonah. Your general section on students with disabilities could be subdivided. The three sections that occur to me (and this may take some reordering of paragraphs) are (1)use of technology, (2) SRSD (and this in particular could be expanded and explained more if it's important - remember you are writing for a general audience), and (3) teaching of strategies. I don't suggest further subdividing your section on autistic autobiographies. The other thing that I especially noticed is you need to wikify these sections more. Try to add all the relevant links you can. (It's much more important in this topic to have a link to learning disability and to autism than to a television show mentioned almost in passing.) Try to add some more footnotes as well. I've marked one spot that needs one. I hope these suggestions help. LadyofShalott 01:55, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

Elmarhashimov

Hi, LadyofShalott, I'm User:Elmarhashimov from the same class. I join in my peers' thanks for your willingness to help! I am particularly interested (and hoping to make some contributions) to articles related to Activity Theory, Ecocomposition, and a few other related topics (please see my talk page for the list). The first three articles are missing some key information, and the last two are non-existent for now (but both of those scholars deserve Wikipedian recognition... heh heh). I'm fairly new to the internal workings of Wikipedia, so I'm still trying to figure things out. Thanks again, and I look forward to working with you more! Elmarhashimov (talk) 20:35, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi, again! I've encountered an interesting problem. It appears that there are two articles on Activity theory (Activity theory and Scandinavian activity theory) that really need to be merged into one. The authors don't seem to think so, based on their comments on the talk pages back in 2006, but I really do! It's the same theory, not two different ones. I have them both copied-and-pasted in my sandbox right now. What do you suggest I do next? Elmarhashimov (talk) 18:58, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Sorry for the late reply (see my note below) - anyway, you've already handled it with a merger which seems completely reasonable to me. That agreement to have them separate was made in 2006 with little happening afterwards. You said on the talk page what you wanted to do, and met no opposition; then you went with it. That is good, and is encouraged on Wikipedia. Well done. Do you have any followup questions at this point? LadyofShalott 01:24, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
Great! Thanks for your input. I went ahead and merged the two articles. It looks much better. I'll be working on adding citations over the next few weeks. I don't have any more questions yet, but I might come up with some as I go. Thanks again! Elmarhashimov (talk) 22:43, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Acburke1

An additional greeting to you from User:Acburke1 also in ENG 604. I am particularly interested in investigating the 18th and 19th century time period within the history of rhetoric, but I also have noticed that certain concepts like digital literacy are not necessarily attached to rhetoric as a subject, so establishing rhetoric as more of a sound field on Wikipedia is intriguing. Thanks for helping us out! Acburke1 (talk) 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I am working on an article about Donald Murray that has already been started by someone else. I've added minor additions and am also working on it in my sandbox. Any suggestions are welcome! One question I have posed on the Murray talk page is the idea of changing the title of the article from Don Murray (Writer) to a more formal title--Donald Murray which he is referred to in the composition field. Are there ways to go about doing this? Thanks again for your help! Acburke1 (talk) 23:20, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
I should also note that I'm looking for a picture of Murray and can't locate one that is in the public domain. If you have any suggestions about where to look, I'd appreciate this as well. Acburke1 (talk) 20:47, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Apologies and comment on organization on this page (only)

My apologies for being off-wiki and getting behind recently. I'm going to try to catch up here and answer you all shortly. LadyofShalott 00:46, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

I have taken the liberty of reorganizing our discussions here by student since you each have different articles and questions. I think this will make it easier for us all to follow. LadyofShalott 00:57, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

New Page Triage engagement strategy released

Hey guys!

I'm dropping you a note because you filled out the New Page Patrol survey, and indicated you'd be interested in being contacted about follow-up work. This is to notify you that we've finally released both the initial documentation about the project and also the engagement strategy, which sets out how we plan to work with the community on this. Please give both a read, and leave any comments or suggestions you have on the talkpage, on my talkpage, or in my inbox - okeyes@wikimedia.org.

It's awesome to finally get to start work on this! :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 02:45, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

On the internet no one knows if you're a dog, but I think you're of the female persuasion. Against kitchen slavery, and for women's writing: this award presented to a deserving woman. Drmies (talk) 16:26, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

Ellen Gallagher

Greetings on Your Day, m'lady. Thanks for the edits to Ellen Gallagher. I really wanted to include this image, but didn't see how I could provide a fair use rationale to justify it. I hate living people. (And you can quote me on that!)

Regarding this edit summary about Drexciya, I thought "that can't possibly be right". All of the sources mentioned this mythology and not one of them mentioned the band. So I did what you must've done, and searched for it, but was unable to find anything that wasn't about the band or Gallagher. I never should've doubted you; please forgive me. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 01:15, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Greetings to you, my friend. It's a nice article. Too bad about the picture - that would be a nice one to use. I personally find some of our "fair use" rules to be ridiculous, going so far beyond what is (what I understand to be) the legal requirements for fair use. I'm not prepared to fight that particular battle, however.

No apologies needed: I've been wrong before, and I'll be wrong again. I'd have been happy to be proved incorrect in this instance; it sounded like such an interesting myth, alas. LadyofShalott 01:26, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Not clear that the man ever traveled to America. He is not on the Mayflower passenger list, that see also link is misleading in that regard. Seems Weston may have just just coordinated and funded the operation. Wbm1058 (talk) 19:23, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

There's a section titled "His life in the New World". Are you saying that's incorrect? (I'm going entirely by what's in the article, having no other knowledge of this person.) LadyofShalott 19:26, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Appears that per Wessagusset Colony "His life in the New World" is an incomplete section. I reverted myself. I'm no more familiar with this stuff than you. Wbm1058 (talk) 19:46, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Fair enough. Thanks for the discussion. :) LadyofShalott 19:48, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Daniel Radcliffe

Hi, you might consider unlocking Radcliffe based on the apparent resolution of the problem at ANI. Regards.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:51, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for weighing in at ANI. I'm not sure what still makes you uncomfortable, but I trust your instincts. Just so it's clear, the article, as it stands, does not have the problematic material in it, so I didn't ask you to remove the lock out of self-interest.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:12, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I wasn't concerned about that (I knew it wasn't in there). It's just that I'm not sure PaM has heard enough to be convinced not to readd problematic material. That being said, Elen has threatened a block; I meant it when I said that I'd not object if another admin thought unlocking it is the right thing to do, and since I said that at ANI, I'm sure other admins will read it and either go ahead and unlock or not. :) LadyofShalott 22:19, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
I'm not so sure about PaM, either, but Elen certainly knows how to deliver a stern warning. We'll see what happens on that score, and as for Radcliffe, "worst" case is it remains locked for a few days. One article less to worry about. Heh.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:27, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for improving my work and the article in general. I see that you have some concerns about his activities with regard to the Wessagusset Colony and even him being in the New World at all. This is understandable since there were, unfortunately, many Thomas Westons! I have researched further and will continue to do so but I found another book which states the same claim: Nathaniel Philbrick Mayflower: A story of Courage, Community and War (Viking 2006). I will post on the talk page as I use them for reference. He may not have ever been in the New World and I rephrased the sentence regarding him (personally) settling the people at the Colony to say that he was responsible for sending people to settle ..... and referenced. I am presently referring to him as "a Merchant adventurer" in the generic sense, since, although it is also stated in all three sources, there is still controversy. Mugginsx (talk) 11:10, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I think you are mixing up what has been done by me and by W(something). That other editor is the one with doubts about Weston's being in the New World. I was the one who asked for specification on what controversy, but that was before you changed it to a merchant adventurer generically. Happy editing, LadyofShalott 14:37, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
Yes, you are correct, however, all questions and criticisms are welcome and will help the article. You contributed much and I do try to learn from experienced editors such as yourself and for that I do thank you. Mugginsx (talk) 15:13, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

Font

I was looking at the users involved in the "Experienced users grant permissions" discussion - did you realize that your userpage is virtually illegible due to the crazy font it uses? Edit: and, the talk page... Comic Sans should be banned by law! St John Chrysostom Δόξατω Θεώ 08:37, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

Hmmm, I've used that font for quite a while now, and I believe this is the first complaint I've had. Other opinions (yea or nea)? LadyofShalott 16:03, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
I have no problems. I'm using Palemoon, and the browser used seems to make a difference.  The Steve  17:09, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
I was going to make a similar comment on your user page two days ago, I think I started the section, then saw something shiny...I figured I would leave you to your own vices. On the other hand, I like the Comic Sans on your talk page. I think it is an appropriate use (although some poeople just don't like it in any use). On a related note, the other day at work, I was looking for an Application for Expenditure template (basically a request to spend a lot of money), and the only one I could find had Comic Sans as the cover sheet. At that time I was considering writing typeface etiquette.--kelapstick(bainuu) 22:12, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
I can accept that with the Lucida Calligraphy. I've now changed my user page to use Comic sans. As for etiquette, there are ways to say thing, and ways to say things. I think the way John approached this issue was extraordinarily rude. Next time I tell you how to decorate your house John, you can feel free to tell me how to decorate mine. Meanwhile, you are invited not to hang out on my talk page if you find the font so objectionable. (BTW, I can't read the Greek characters in your signature.)Thank you to Thesteve and Kelapstick for your polite comments. LadyofShalott 23:12, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
But you can at least tell they're Greek - and it's part of a sig! Have you seen the lengths some people go to with sigs on here? It used to be a simple "view/my bias" and was changed to "doxa to theo" for Lent. My flat is decorated with trash, ash, and very nice dingy white walls; in other words, ideal. I apologize for any offense caused: such is my manner, and, it is why I am on the internet writing an (insert adjective here) expanded encyclopedia instead of in an ivory tower politicking (ugh) and writing monographs, after all. St John Chrysostom Δόξατω Θεώ 00:30, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
While I think anyone using Comic Sans should be beaten with a stick, it's Lady's choice... I personally have a hard time reading it. I don't know if its my dyslexia or not causing that. I wouldn't change it. The only problem I see on the page is if somebody has red colorblindness, they can't see "LadyOf" and only see "Shalott" in the signature. Here is an example. Bgwhite (talk) 22:19, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
Now that's something I didn't realize. I may have to play with that to improve it. LadyofShalott 22:32, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
Aesthetics issues are my personal concern (as long as we're talking about my userspace, not article space), but accessibility issues are another matter. LadyofShalott 22:34, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
Lady, you did realize that I was pointing out accessibility(?) issues alone with my comment about the former kind of quasi-script font used on the userpage? I looked at it, and couldn't read even the table of contents. I had no intent of commenting on purely aesthetic issues (and I had no idea about the colorblindness, but still generally stick to the spec of "white on black or black on white" for text), which, we all agree, are purely your concern. St John Chrysostom Δόξατω Θεώ 01:44, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
I did, and that wasn't the part that ticked me off (except there was no need to call it a "crazy" font). The part that really got to me though was "Edit: and, the talk page... Comic Sans should be banned by law!" That was not apparently anything to do with accessibility, and was purely aesthetics. LadyofShalott 01:59, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
It was meant (and failed) to be funny or sarcastic, like Bgwhite's statement, "I think anyone who uses Comic Sans should be beaten with a stick". Sorry. St John Chrysostom Δόξατω Θεώ 10:10, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Fair enough. Let's consider this closed. LadyofShalott 17:52, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Solid State PLC

Hello, I'd like to create a page Solid State PLC but it was previously removed:

18:11, 17 August 2011 Edgar181 (talk | contribs) deleted page Solid State PLC (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion) 16:18, 17 August 2011 Tnxman307 (talk | contribs) deleted page Solid State PLC (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion) 15:47, 17 August 2011 Tnxman307 (talk | contribs) deleted page Solid State PLC (A7: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content))

The intention was to create a brief, factual page outlining the AIM listed companies details and history but not be an advert or promotion. Would you be able to assist me in achieveing this and move it into my userspace and suggest how we might complete this?

--jjakaalbinoboy 16:19, 26 March 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jjakaalbinoboy (talkcontribs)

Do reliable sources exist that discuss this company? If there are multiple reliable sources that discuss it, yes it should be possible to write an article on it. (I'm not familiar with the subject, and my question is not rhetorical.) It might be better to start from scratch at User:Jjakaalbinoboy/Solid State PLC. If you do that, and can show some decent sources, I'll help you work on it and make sure it's in reasonable state before moving it to main space. LadyofShalott 16:29, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

MYOB, dearie

Note: This comment is regarding this edit.

Your comment at my talk page is juvenile, inappropriate, but most of all pointless. If you feel there is a policy I am violating, I suggest you take it to administration. Or better yet, call the police.

Have a nice day, honey. Njsustain (talk) 14:24, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

It was merely a suggestion. I neither said nor implied anything about a policy violation. However there was NO call for the patronizing language in your reply, sweet'ums. LadyofShalott 15:17, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
By the way, the documentation at Template:Retired specifies: "Editors should promptly remove this template from their user pages if they resume editing for any reason. If still editing on rare occasions, use {{semi-retired}} in preference." LadyofShalott 17:11, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
Dear Lady Shallot, I realize that your original comment was only to improve WP, even if it was just a user talk page, so thank you for that. I have been inappropriately harrassed by admins on more than one occassion when they were upset that the accuracy of their edits were brought to question, in one case the admin being eventually desysopped (due to other actions on his part as well). It is a very frustrating system sometimes, and I was rather upset that when "coming out of retirement" to make a simple edit, the wagons were circled by those who had a different opinion. I feel there is again an inappropriate COI by a certain user, who is herself making inappropriate personal comments about me. In any case, I would like to make this apology to you for it's own sake, and to state that I do not include you among the wagon-circlers. Thank you for your contributions to WP. Sincerely, Njsustain (talk) 18:32, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for that. LadyofShalott 19:22, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

I disturbingly found that category a few weeks ago...Juliancolton is an admin and bureaucrat on Commons, he is who I usually go to for stuff when I am in a bind there.--kelapstick(bainuu) 04:16, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Wow, I am at work, and I'm not going to open that link; I can only imagine what is there. Alison is also an admin at Commons; I think she'd have something to say about this. LadyofShalott 13:59, 28 March 2012 (UTC) I went ahead and pinged Alison. LadyofShalott 14:01, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
This is a pretty egregious BLP violation. I can delete the entire category but it will likely be restored by some 'zOMG Censorship!!' zealot. Commons has lost all idea of sense lately and I despair of it all. I see no possible reason to have photos of dog shit associated with someone's name. Seriously, Cirt, what were you thinking?? I'd like to nuke those images per COM:SCOPE, but that will likely be challenged too, because photographs of dogshit spelling out someone's name are likely "educational" :/ - Alison 07:23, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
Well, personally I'm pretty disappointed that in that whole category, there isn't any *actual* santorum. Artistic vision is well and good, but at least have the balls to froth up some of the real stuff, not this faux shit...  The Steve  08:05, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
There are some deletion discussions going on over there about some of the pictures. --kelapstick(bainuu) 11:42, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
Does Commons have a BLP policy equivalent to the one here? LadyofShalott 17:31, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

<--I hope someone approves of this. Alison, I thought you liked trouble: delete the lot and let them start from the other end--restoration.

Incidentally, Alison, or any other knowledgeable people, do you have any opinion on [User_talk:Jameslwoodward#Commons:Deletion_requests.2FFile:Sirio_survivors.jpg this discussion] and the associated links/deletion discussion?
