It's a weird world when being called a Nazi results in two separate editors shrugging and lecturing you on proper warning levels, but Wikipedia can be a ridiculous place sometimes. For what it's worth, I've left Spryo02 a "final warning"; in spite of being deserving of a block, I note that this is all you really asked for, so I hope it helps. If this recurs, I suggest that you make a note of it at WP:ANI or WP:AIV (depending on the nature of the problematic edit). Those are often populated by admins willing to act. --Floquenbeam (talk) 23:54, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your support. This gives me the feeling that my world-view is not completely warped. --Jaellee (talk) 16:45, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
I've also posted at WQA; please feel free to contact me directly if this editor continues with the name-calling and racist characterizations of entire nations (or anything along those lines). I'm an admin willing to act in such situations. -GTBacchus(talk) 04:25, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
I've replied to your note at my talk page. :) -GTBacchus(talk) 18:02, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for you detailed explanation. I will try to keep this in mind and use this approach in future. --Jaellee (talk) 17:37, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Edin Džeko

Džeko scored two goals in 2003/2004 championship season in the senior squad of F.K. Zeljeznicar. He scored in home games against Modrica and Glasinac. The only source I can find is a statistics run by one of F.K. Zeljeznicar fans on the forum. The other source is my memory. And topics on the forum, regarding those games can still be found, on which everyone is discussing them. Of course, they contain information about Džeko scoring those goals. Anyway, you should question your source, whoever he is, because I recently went through those topics and am 1000% sure they are correct. Cheers! I really think you should change the data in Edin Dzeko article, becauese he scored 2 goals for Zeljeznicar. Who say he scored only one. On official Dzeko's website www.edindzeko.com it says that he scored 5 in 40 games. It's in the Biography section. Neither one is true. Anyway, please tell me who decided that he scored only one? Best regards. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dialiba (talkcontribs) 22:51, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Armin Veh (mistaken typo correction)

My apologies. I usually spot "sic" notices - missed that one. Sorry to give you extra work reversing it. -- DMS (talk) 18:39, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

M.Spiranovic

It does NOT matter if you are Matthew Spiranovic's biggest fan, all parts of his career MUST BE INDETIFIED AND ACKNOWLEDGE, ESPECIALLY IF THERE IS EVIDENCE TO PROVE IT.

Please mantain his main information box that contains his junior career and senior (included Nurnberg's reserve team which are classed as a Professional team that DO participate in a professional league).

Regards

The revert you made does not meet WP:SPECULATION. Restored. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:23, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

I just realised that I should explain why it doesn't meet WP:SPECULATION. The paragraph isn't stating that he will be traded to one of the three teams or the FC Bayern will allow him to be transferred, it is simply indicating that he is being sought after. It's not speculative if there is a report and that the teams are in discussions. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:28, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
they may be at rumours, but there's a source willing to back them, so let it go. If he transfers, we remove the rumours and insert the final result. For now both he and Andreas Görlitz want out of their contracts and so it seems one or more of the backs will be moving. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:05, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Not a sports magazine. I'll have to remember that one. In the end, the rumours were fact, and you should take up your ideas with the group who controls the ideas behind WP:SPECULATION and not me. I am simply enforcing them. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:48, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
You should take up your ideas with the group who controls the ideas behind WP:SPECULATION and not me. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:57, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry. I didn't understand that the football group weren't adhering to WP:SPECULATION and had their own subset of rules. I'll be sure to let the admins at WP:SPECULATION know that you differ from them and let the two groups address the issue. Thanks for pointing that out. Until this blatant disregard of another group has been resolved, don't involve my personal talk page in the discussion. Thanks you. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:06, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Stephan Schmidt

Thank you

Thank you for the notification. I see the article was deleted from the German Wikipedia - at the time I added that article, I was adding lots of soccer players' articles translated from the German Wikipedia into the English Wikipedia - not realizing, of course, that there were no statistics attached to his name.

I therefore assume, since the article was deleted from de.wiki, that the article does not fulfil WP:FOOTY notability requirements (by extension of WP:BIO) and will let the PROD run its course with no argument. All the best. Bobo. 01:01, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

And again, thank you for the notification. I will let the PROD run its course. Bobo. 19:50, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Misleading edits

Real cool dawg. First you called my edit vandalism when it clearly wasn't. Then you try and tell me that I was adding unreliable information when if you had bothered to look at the next paragraph is clearly cited. Please put more thoughts into your edits. Fast. :-) Die Appearances haben noch nicht gestimmt, aber ich finde auch immer wieder Fehler in diesen Statistiken, selbst wenn ich sie vorher schon bearbeitet habe (und geglaubt habe, dass sie richtig sind). --Jaellee (talk) 20:02, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
(doofe) Frage: was bedeuten denn diese Appearance überhaupt? -- Choas (talk) 20:32, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
--Jaellee (talk) 21:21, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I notice that here you undid a user adding the above category, stating that "article doesn't support category" in your edit summary. At the end of the first paragraph in the "Early and personal life" section, it states that "Ribéry is a convert to Islam.", cited to this. It is also backed up by this Telegraph article. I'm not sure whether it is you or I who have missed something here... Best, – Toon 18:24, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

That explains it then. I'm not overly familiar with categorisation, which is why I didn't revert you. :) – Toon 21:33, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Goalie stats

What kind of purpose the infobox carries filled with zeroes? Goalies are not your regular footballers and therefore their statistics are different from the infield players. Would not you agree? The infobox for footballers has abbreviations Apps (Gls) which stand for appearances and goals. Right? However it does not specify which goals. Right? It could be goals scored or goals allowed. Are we just simply to assume something or would it be better to come up with better identification for the abbreviation?

How can you really evaluate performance of a goalie? By his scored goals? Or how many he allowed? Which does really show how well a goalie performed throughout his career? Or we will simply put zeroes, because negative goals are just plain stupid? Is that the definition? What is the real problem with the negative goals? Goalies do not really score in a game. If goalie scores maybe that team needs to find better strikers as those strikers do not do their job when the goalie has to score for them, wouldn't you think so? The purpose of a goalie is to guard the goalpost (aka gates). We need to be able to evaluate his performance on his post, not the others'. How would you evaluate that position? By the goals scored or allowed? Or keep it zero, because negative goals just do not make any sense for certain people? Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 18:02, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for giving some insights on Butt. However did he scored all those goals while playing goalie or he was actually used as a non goalie? About the infoboxes, I could not find any infobox on goalies in particular. Is it possible to direct me to one if you know where it is? You also mentioned about some consensus. Where is it? You quoted the condition for inclusion of goals, but have not I mentioned that in my previous post? Have you read it in whole or selectively? Yes, it does say about the goals awarded, but it does not mentioned exactly which. Right? Does it say that goals awarded that were scored for each club? Of course not. It can be also interpreted as goals that were allowed. I agree that it can be difficult to track most of them. However most of today's professional leagues provided with match protocols and some stats for the games played. So why not start doing that? I do not think that it is impossible to count all of the goals that a goalie allowed in a professional league and especially for a national team. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 18:07, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the pointer. I will try to push that topic ahead. By the way, just as a trivia info on related subject. The Ukrainian football has also practice of goalies scoring and as you mentioned from a penalty spot. The most notorious in the nation was Buch (might be spelled as Butch), he used to play for FC Volyn Lutsk. I am not sure of his goals count, but he was the leading scorer amongst the goalies of all professional football (I think he played in the Ukrainian First League most of his career). Bayern Munich

People might be putting in the championship for Bayern all week. The media has already given the title to Bayern. You might not want to keep reverting unless they really do blow the lead. Kingjeff (talk) 06:14, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

No. Keep reverting until it's a fact. Speaking of the page, I notice that you revert a lot of anonymous edits made to the article. Would you mind marking the contributors' talk page with a notice when you do? There were two really bad ones earlier in the week. Both had to be banned for their excessive inaccurate additions and edits. Thanks. Here's hoping for a big Saturday. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:13, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

Mark van Bommel

I'm Dutch and I've been a fan of Van Bommel for over 10 years. So yes, "Gertuda" is a typo. "Gertruda" is correct (see also the Dutch and German versions). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Voskat (talkcontribs) 16:48, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Mesut Özil

Please stop changing to "German" footballer. He is not ethnically German. He was only born htere and his parents are Turkish. True, he does have a citizenship, but its called "naturalization". He is naturalized German citizen, but he is not German. If you want actual German footballers, look for Klaus Augenthaler, Rudi Völler, Lothar Matthäus and many others. For this instance, even Miroslav Klose has right to be called a German footballer as, despite the fact he was born in Poland, his ethnicity is German. Norum 04:08, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

I've asked for clarification of this topic on WikiProject Football and it seems that that your interpretation of nationality of footballers is against consensus. You can argue your case there. If necessary, I will change the Özil's nationality to German in future again. --Jaellee (talk) 15:15, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Flags for sportspersons

I understand the point of why not to have them. Maybe not everyone finds them helpful but personally I do because it makes abundantly clear where the club is from. If you look at the Russian national team, the squad list uses national flags next to each player's respective club.

This is a similar idea to me, it does not add any sense of national pride, only showing where the club is located for ease on the reader. I do not care one way or the other, I just find the flags easier and more helpful. Laserinfantry44 (talk) 23:02, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Nevertheless, it is against consensus for infoboxes. I also think that it is not helpful as it overloads the infobox (and lots of regulars on WT:FOOTY think so). The flags do not provide additional information, they just make reading the infobox harder. Distingushing between Australia and New Zealand or Netherlands and Paraguay is nearly impossible if you do not already know the country. It's not that bad in squad lists as the flags are a little more spread out (although I would not be sad if they were removed). --Jaellee (talk) 19:46, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Ministerpräsident

Does Minister-Präsident mean Minister-President and Erste Minister mean Prime Minister orFirst Minister? Kingjeff (talk) 00:14, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Prime Minister seems to be a English commonwealth thing and it just doesn't sound right. I wonder if it's really is the name or just a common mistake by whoever writes the government website. Kingjeff (talk) 15:21, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

It's funny that you use Christian Wulff as an example. The whole reason why I'm asking is because there is a discussion on his talk page about it. Kingjeff (talk) 22:34, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

German club names

Hi there JAELLEE, VASCO from Portugal,

do you mind telling me (keeping in mind the WP:COMMONNAME and WP:KARLSRUHER approaches) why on earth are the clubs SAABRUCKEN, NUREMBERG, KAISERSLAUTERN, opened to the full extent, and others like FC Bayern Munich and FC Schalke 04 are compressed? Do you mind explaining me where is the coherence in doing that? I see none...

Attentively - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 20:19, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi, from my point of view, the most important thing is to provide clear and unambiguous information in the infobox. For example Eintracht Frankfurt (Bundesliga) and FSV Frankfurt (2. Bundesliga) both play in one of the German professional football leagues. If the name of one of the clubs is piped to Frankfurt, I cannot determine without further information for which club exactly a footballer played. (Piping Eintracht Frankfurt to Eintracht is not an option because I could confuse it with Eintracht Braunschweig which is playing in the 3. Liga.) In Kaiserslautern for example there are numerous football clubs which contain Kaiserlautern as part of their name: 1. FC Kaiserslautern, ASV Kaiserslautern, TSG 1861 Kaiserslautern, SWFV Kaiserslautern ... In Kaiserslautern there is (at the moment) only one really well known football club, but it is quite possible that a professional footballer played for such a small club in his youth and it should be listed correctly in the infobox.
I, personally, would prefer to list the complete name in the infobox, but some editors have expressed their concerns that the infobox is getting to big and that they want to shorten the name of the clubs. Bayern Munich or Hansa Rostock for example is still unambiguous, so the "FC" can be dropped without losing information. I see this as a compromise and would even accept that FC Schalke 04 is shortened to Schalke (as I do not know of any other Schalke). But as the name is so short anyway I wouldn't do this (because the infobox won't shrink because of this). --Jaellee (talk) 21:52, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
