New Adoption Request

[edit]

I'm relatively new to Wikipedia and after a few small edits, I was advised to seek out an experienced user who is willing to be a mentor. Among all the mentors in the Mentors' list, I felt your areas of interest match mine the most. I'm from India and am from the Computer Science and Engineering background. I am intersted in latest trends in Science and Technology, European History and the World Wars. I feel I can make some useful contribution to Wikipedia in these fields with the right guidance from you. Waiting for a positive reply. hashken (talk) 11:51, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ecallow, would you please adopt me. I need help with citations. I'm back on Wiki and my skills are rusty to put it nicely...EZRASExy (talk) 17:41, 1 October 2014 (UTC) Hello, Ecallow! Would you like to adopt me? I'm trying to publish an article about my company's software and I need someone who will tell me if it was not against any of Wikipedia's laws. Hi Ecallow - I am hoping you would like to adopt me I need a bit of help with ensuring that an article I am writing about my company is non-promotional (neutral) and doesn't contain puffery terms and that I'm only referencing noteworthy sources. I would also be interested in getting some help to create a user page.

Thanks in advance!

Orphaned non-free media (File:Gadget Show, World Tour Logo.jpeg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Gadget Show, World Tour Logo.jpeg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 05:10, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to MSN may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Hi Ecallow!

I'm a beginner Wikipedian, and I was wondering if you could help me with the image process, since I'm confused about its copyright issues and whatnot. I'm trying to add the logo of Toca Boca to its article. I found the logo here.

Thanks! --Bananasoldier (talk) 01:25, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bananasoldier

I've uploaded the image which you can see [[1]] and added it to the article!

Thank you very much! Bananasoldier (talk) 17:51, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Would you like to be adopted? I see that your user page has an adopt me userbox and I'm an adopter! Ecallow (talk) 17:53, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes! I would love to be adopted! I've had a Wikipedia account for a year now, but I still like to consider myself a newbie because I still don't know that much! :P

Bananasoldier (talk) 18:59, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I really appreciated your logo placement for the Toca Boca article. I hope you don't mind, but I have another article that needs a logo. The article is Pocket Planes and the logo can be found here.

Do you know a specialist who would love to keep putting in these images for me?

Also, how do I know whether or not the image is copyright violation when I'm adding the logo?

Thanks! Bananasoldier (talk) 19:05, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I'd be happy to upload it and will show you how if you wish. I don't personally know any 'specialist' uploaders. On the subject of copyright - if it is made avaliable by the creator on brand guideline or press resources it's generally ok. If not then you can usually claim under 'Fair Use' just make sure it isn't used commercially. Ecallow (talk) 18:48, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Actually, over the duration you were gone, I learned how to upload images. :D Bananasoldier (talk) 19:15, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! I'm completely new to Wikipedia, yet would like to contribute editing to it. However, my knowledge of what to, and what not to do is quite limited. I'd love to learn, especially since your main interests coincide with mine. Thanks! --Rardich (talk) 04:17, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ecallow. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "1st Clevedon Scout Group".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|User:Ecallow/1st Clevedon Scout Group}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 12:53, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Backwell School Radio

[edit]

Hello Ecallow,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Backwell School Radio for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. TheLongTone (talk) 15:49, 13 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New deal for page patrollers

[edit]

Hi Ecallow,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:28, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
