Hi! This is my talk page, feel free to drop me a message. To experienced editors: feel free to stalk my talk page and reply to any threads here.To admins: I prefer that my talk page remain unprotected, even if it's being vandalized. Such edits do not particularly bother me and I prefer to remain accessible to anyone who would like to reach me. However, if the volume of vandalism is so high that no other solution would stop disruption, I don't mind if my talk page is semi-protected for a day or two. Hopefully, this is a rare occurrence.
Season's Greetings

[edit]I want to make a Goohle searchable profile for myself, how to do it? --Prof. Asif Mehmood (talk) 08:18, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Prof. Asif Mehmood please don't. Wikipedia is not a place for self-promotion. We don't have "profiles" for people, we have articles, and those articles must be written neutrally and supported by reliable, independent sources. Elli (talk | contribs) 08:27, 23 December 2024 (UTC)

Question from Robert5181 on Max Kidruk (17:18, 28 December 2024)
[edit]Good morning, I am editing the Max Kidruk page. The information on this page is very different from the Max Kidruk website. Should I update the page by adding his new books and projects? This would result in very significant changes. --Robert5181 (talk) 17:18, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
OCA bug report
[edit]Steps to replicate:
- Go to User talk:JJPMaster
- Attempt to OneClickArchive User talk:JJPMaster § Question from BhooJoeT on Talk:Arnon Milchan (18:02, 28 December 2024)
- It is supposed to archive to Archive 4, but goes to Archive 1 instead.
JJPMaster (she/they) 19:00, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- @JJPMaster this isn't exactly a bug, it's just the archiver not being particularly smart. Your "max archive size" is set at 75k, but Archive 1 isn't yet at 75k, so it'll put the message there before looking for other archive pages. Elli (talk | contribs) 19:25, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
Welcome to the 2025 WikiCup!
[edit]Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.
For the 2025 WikiCup, we've implemented several changes to the scoring system. The highest-ranking contestants will now receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are now open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants will no longer be eliminated at the end of each round.
The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), Frostly (talk · contribs · email), Guerillero (talk · contribs · email) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs · email). Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. The article Lynnette Grey Bull has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Fails WP:NPOL. She ran for elections and didn't win any of them except for their primaries.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 10:55, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
Question from JeromeMellor56 (23:18, 3 January 2025)
[edit]Happy NY! I’m trying to add a photo and caption to an existing Gallery section on Edmund Blunden’s page. I’ve clicked on Edit and there’s no dropdown menu for adding said photo --JeromeMellor56 (talk) 23:18, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- @JeromeMellor56 hi! I'd suggest uploading the photo to Wikimedia Commons first. The upload wizard there will give you the code to insert into the article. Please make sure the photos are under an appropriate license or in the public domain, though. Let me know if you have any more questions :) Elli (talk | contribs) 01:00, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. When I exited my wikicommons downloaded photos and then went back to a photos list the Code no longer seems to be there…. JeromeMellor56 (talk) 05:31, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
Administrators' newsletter – January 2025
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (December 2024).
- Following an RFC, Wikipedia:Notability (species) was adopted as a subject-specific notability guideline.
- A request for comment is open to discuss whether admins should be advised to warn users rather than issue no-warning blocks to those who have posted promotional content outside of article space.
- The Nuke feature also now provides links to the userpage of the user whose pages were deleted, and to the pages which were not selected for deletion, after page deletions are queued. This enables easier follow-up admin-actions.
- Following the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections, the following editors have been elected to the Arbitration Committee: CaptainEek, Daniel, Elli, KrakatoaKatie, Liz, Primefac, ScottishFinnishRadish, Theleekycauldron, Worm That Turned.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in January 2025 to reduce the number of unreviewed articles and redirects in the new pages feed. Sign up here to participate!
I made an edit on the page about the battleship Strasbourg removing the word mistakenly as it is an opinion and removing it allows the page to have a neutral POV but I've been threatened with being reported for doing so. What are the rules on editing article in small ways to remove things like this? --ItsMeCH11 (talk) 03:09, 8 January 2025 (UTC)

Question from JeromeMellor56 (23:01, 18 January 2025)
[edit]Hi! I'm Bernard Mellor's son, I'm a 68yd old doctor living in Sydney.
I didn't write the original entry on him, Generalissima did. I have no connection with that author whatsoever but have had a message from Fyrael saying that I have a Conflict of Interest and my edits might be deleted.
I've added photos, edited it for inaccuracies and added quotes by him from verified sources ( books he's written) .
I haven't completed the citations as yet, but I think all quotes come from his Chapter (pages 345-377) in the book "Dispersal and Renewal" which is in the bibliographical references.
I need some advice on how to make citations.
I don't think I've written anything contentious or inaccurate.
I'm happy to amend if you think anything is inappropriate. Thank you! Jerome Mellor --JeromeMellor56 (talk) 23:01, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Category:2011 ballot measures in the United States indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. ✗plicit 00:57, 19 January 2025 (UTC)

Question from MissUnderstoodPain (22:17, 20 January 2025)
[edit]Why doesn't everyone refer to it as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day? When you look him up on here it doesn't say doctor. I think including that he had a philosophy doctorate is a great educational resource in order to teach children that not everyone with a doctorate is a medical professional. A common misconception that's used in very dangerous ways in our adult lives by people who claim to be doctors in health when they are really not qualified to diagnose or treat mental health or any other kind of health. --MissUnderstoodPain (talk) 22:17, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
