Swabhumi
I came across Swabhumi article, and found out that it was started by you back in 2006. I seriously doubt if it meets the current notability guidelines, however it is a fringe topic and might be kept, as I found few RS in GNews search. In its current avatar it has been reduced to a place for holding get-togethers, marriages and parties and not close to an amusement park!!!. May be you can consider developing the article or whatever you think might be suitable. Amartyabag TALK2ME 15:51, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- I have not been to there in years, so no idea what it is in its current avatar. It was supposed to be a center to showcase heritage etc; not sure either whether it meets notability. Hence, not sure what to do.--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:16, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Swabhumi
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

Main Page appearance: Mother India
This is a note to let the main editors of Mother India know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on May 3, 2013. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or one of his delegates (Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), Gimmetoo (talk · contribs), and Bencherlite (talk · contribs)), or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/May 3, 2013. If it needs tweaking, or if it needs rewording to match improvements to the article between now and its main page appearance, please edit it, following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. The blurb as it stands now is below:
Mother India is a 1957 Hindi epic melodrama film, directed by Mehboob Khan and starring Nargis, Sunil Dutt, Rajendra Kumar, and Raaj Kumar. A remake of Khan's 1940 film Aurat, it is the story of a poverty-stricken village woman named Radha (Nargis) who struggles to raise her sons amidst many troubles. Despite her hardship, she sets a goddess-like moral example of an ideal Hindu Indian woman. In the end, she kills her criminal son for the greater good. Mother India metaphorically represents India as a nation in the aftermath of independence, and alludes to a strong sense of nationalism and nation-building. While some authors treat Radha as the symbol of women empowerment, others see her cast in female stereotypes. The film was the most expensive Hindi cinema production and earned the highest revenue for any Hindi film at that time. Mother India became a definitive cultural classic and is regarded one of the best Indian films. It was India's first submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1958, where it made the shortlist. The film won the Filmfare Best Film Award for 1957, and Nargis and Khan won the Best Actress and Best Director awards respectively. (Full article...)

Well, since you added so much information about homos, I hate to think what an appropriate image would look like :-) Was all that really necessary? BollyJeff | talk 19:27, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
- I am not too sure about all that feudal stuff in that section either. Even the Feudalism WP page seems to be unclear of its real meaning. What is the point of quoting these analysts with their flowery language if it doesn't really help the reader to understand the film more? For example, why were there homosexual mannerism during that song? One thing that I found interesting but did not add (yet - I forgot which source it came from), is that normally the land owner is hated by the lower people, but in this case, the people looked up to the land owner (Thaker) and he protected them. I am not sure how best to add that though. BollyJeff | talk 22:35, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

The blurb as it stands now is below:
Tripura is the third-smallest state in India, bordered by the states of Assam and Mizoram and by Bangladesh. The Kokborok-speaking Tripuri people (children pictured) are the major group among 19 tribes and many subtribes; Bengali people form the ethno-linguistic majority. Before becoming part of the newly independent India in 1949, the area was ruled for several centuries by the Tripuri dynasty. Ethnic strife between the indigenous people and Bengalis has been eased by the establishment of an autonomous tribal administrative agency and other strategies. Five mountain ranges run north to south; Agartala, the capital, is located on a plain to the west. Forests cover more than half of the area, in which bamboo and cane tracts are common. Tripura, which has a tropical savanna climate, has the highest number of primate species found in any Indian state. Economic progress is hindered by its geographical isolation – only one major highway connects it with the rest of India. Most residents are involved in agriculture and allied activities. Mainstream Indian cultural elements, especially from Bengali culture, coexist with traditional practices of the ethnic groups. (Full article...)

What's the rush?
I already had two articles on that page and you have added DDLJ as well. I am trying to get Blofeld's attention on which to go with first; Priyanka again or Sholay. Did you see the note on my talk page about gross vs nett? I want to get this answered before nominating Sholay. Oh, and no I do not have that book, and I cannot look inside it on Google Books; that's why it is not being used in the article. BollyJeff | talk 23:37, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
- Why do you say that PC has no chance? And no one knows what percentage of the cost of a film ticket is tax? If I am asking what does "nett gross" mean, so will a reviewer. BollyJeff | talk 12:56, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
- I can't figure it out either. Also, if you look at a. it would appear to be used twice, but it fact is only used once at [a]. Maybe refs are not allowed inside footnotes? BollyJeff | talk 18:10, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for straightening that out. I am still not very happy with the lead though. It seems to skip around various topics out of order and such. I am also afraid that the article will not meet the very high standard of English required for FA. I am a native speaker, but English was not my best subject, and PC was copy edited by the GOCE and still failed, so what to do? BollyJeff | talk 19:34, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your work to expand Meghe Dhaka Tara (2013) article and nominating it for DYK. A special barnstar was announced for this article and you deserve the barnstar! Best, Tito Dutta (contact) 18:05, 20 May 2013 (UTC) |

For getting Tripura up to FA status and it appearing on the front page so soon as TFA! ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 06:27, 21 May 2013 (UTC) |
Hi Dwaipayan!
In an editdiff on Narendra Modi you added the descriptor "Hindu nationalist" before Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. I just want to know your opinion on few things about this, I hope it would be okay if I posted them here instead of bulging the talk?
- The page is a very controversial one, and it already contained a link to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. What occurred to you that you reckoned it needed more elaborate description?
- Now that you've picked a descriptor, the target page refers to the organization as "a right-wing, paramilitary, volunteer Hindu nationalist group", then do you think that your act of choosing one descriptor among multiple might be perceived as a bias on your part? You could have picked "right-wing"?
- In light of this would you admit that simply calling it "organization" was sufficient for stability and neutrality of this overly controversial article?
If we want to elaborately describe every-link that has its own page, we could do so but as my experience has taught me, it is not always needed, sometimes the more succinct it is, the better.
Could you review this large undiscussed edit made immediately after you(I frankly find that edit by Soham321 to be excessively verbose)?diff BTW, about Soham's edit Drmies previously said[2],
"These edits constitute a BLP violation, basically: undue negative information of a fairly trivial kind whose effect can only be to disparage the subject.",
also this edit was never discussed in the article talk. I am going to ask nick about this too. His edits worry me. Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 07:50, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- Regarding RSS, that is the descriptor most needed, rather than para-military or volunteer. RSS is the most important and politically successful Hindu nationalist orgnization post-independence. The term Hindu nationalism has got some negative connotation now; but it is not a negative term t begin with. Aurobindo, Vivekananda, many organisations for the freedom movement had elements of Hindu nationalism: it is a philosophy.
- Moreover, in the context of this article, this descriptor (rather than paramilitary or volunteer) is more apt since Modi has been a controversial figure due to his alleged pro-Hindutva stances. So his affiliation to Hindu nationalism (rather than right wingism) is more necessary to provide context. For example, in the paragraph of Godhra train burning, that the mob was Muslim and the pilgrims were Hindu are very important to provide context (otherwise, why would retaliatory and re-retaliatory clashes evolve?)--Dwaipayan (talk) 12:29, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
Pictures
Hi...well, I'm working on Aashiqui 2. There are not any pictures regarding the promotion, album artwork and the theatrical poster should also be uploaded. Would you please upload it as i plan it for GA to be passed on 26 May 2013 (1 month of release). Please, help me. I also want the older Aashiqui poster as I want to use it in the marketing as the part 2 poster takes influence from earlier.Prashant! talk 17:42, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

DYK for Meghe Dhaka Tara (2013 film)
On 27 May 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Meghe Dhaka Tara (2013 film), which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that the 2013 film Meghe Dhaka Tara is inspired by the life and works of Ritwik Ghatak who made a film of the same name in 1960? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Meghe Dhaka Tara (2013 film). You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
