Apologies

I had in no way intended to revert your reversion of vandalism on the FIFA Rankings page, still less to edscribe it as vandalism. I thought I had reverted the vandal who put advanced Serbia in the rankings. Sorry. Kevin McE (talk) 17:36, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

No problem at all, I've accidentally clicked the wrong button and reverted the wrong person before too. CTJF83 chat 17:42, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

What are you up to

Hey CTJ got any articals of FG or Simpsons your working on, any ideas.--Pedro J. the rookie 14:26, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Well I want to continue on with this, although it doesn't seem many of the main project members want to. You can help me with that, or, if you prefer, we can do some Family Guy episodes :) CTJF83 chat 17:38, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
If there's any way you could help out with Meet the Quagmires, Boys Do Cry and No Meals on Wheels, we could get the season to GT status if you're interested. Gage (talk) 05:58, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Mediation

The mediator assigned to our case informs me you're not willing to go forward. Is that the case, and, if so, what do you see as the disposition of our disagreement? WCityMike 19:57, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

I see you responded to the message below, but not to this. While I don't mean to nag, you did agree to mediation, and that agreement means something. It at the very least means that you agreed to not leave me and the mediator hanging for such long periods of time in-between your responses. Please answer the question at your next convenience and let us know if you are formally conceding the point and dropping out of mediation, or if you're going to continue. Thanks. WCityMike 15:10, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Opps, sorry, didn't even see this one, I'll respond on the mediation page. CTJF83 chat 16:11, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Your Love is My Drug

Are you happy to pass the article? I'm satsified that it meets all that was asked of it and the user has added end date of Pop Songs. --Lil-unique1 (talk) 01:18, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it is good to go. CTJF83 chat 02:28, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi

Hello there, I noticed that by distorting my language to make it appear as if I was actually including OR, you clearly incurred in bias and violated the NPOV policy. Just because you don't wish certain content included in Wikipedia doesn't mean it doesn't exist and that it is not encyclopedic (the TV show is my sole source). I should bring my case to an administrator, but I'll let your Authoritarianism be for the time. I hope you become more open minded soon. 200.5.65.136 (talk) 22:55, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Bring it to an admin, or post it at WT:DOH, I've been around for years, and know what I'm talking about. CTJF83 chat 03:42, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Quick WP:FG thing

I noticed you nominated Brian: Portrait of a Dog for GA, in the future, could you add it to the At GAN list on WP:FG? As you know, the article alerts no longer work, and I'd like to keep some sense of order with GA, FA, FL, etc. nominations, so it can be better kept under conrol. Thanks for tidying up and nominating the article though. Gage (talk) 05:57, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Sure thing, I can do that...Pedro and I, (and hopefully you since you have a few GAs already) are gonna work on getting season 1 up to GT status. CTJF83 chat 06:01, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Album Artwork uploads

I have a question... how can I get the album artwork up for an article I made? The article is now relevant as the band has released concrete release date, track listings, and artwork but I can't upload the artwork they posted to their website because of issues with Wikipedia conduct. Any help as to how I can post this sort of image for use would be appreciated. Volbeatfan (talk) 05:35, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm not very good with the WP:NFCCrules, but you should be able to upload an album cover as long as you give the reasons as to why it is needed. Here are 3 to use as a reference 1, 2, 3. It actually looks like they all have the exact same reasoning, and rationale. If you want me to upload it for you, please provide a link, otherwise I can answer more questions for you. CTJF83 chat 05:51, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Oh, and upload it here, not on Commons. CTJF83 chat 05:53, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
While I won't nominate it again for deletion....you have too many sources to the band's website, which presents WP:COI and WP:SPS issues. So someone could easily nominate it again...try some of these CTJF83 chat 06:01, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Ok, thanks.. I fixed the references, let me know how it looks now. As for the uploads, I will try what you have said. --Volbeatfan (talk) 03:47, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Looks good! CTJF83 chat 17:09, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Nominating an Article

I need to nominate the Volbeat article to be "graded". I just feel clueless as to how I do this. I did a lot of work and I need someone to look at it and see how "worthy" the article is now lol. Thanks, Volbeatfan (talk) 05:35, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

I've never heard of a grading process, per say...per WP:QUALITY, I'd say it is probably B Class, it isn't missing anything major. As far as I know, and I've done, you can change the class yourself (obviously not to GA/FA) on the article talk page. The main issue is sourcing. Not only a lack of sources, but also poor sources. Answers.com is definitely not a reliable source, and should be removed immediately. Also any source to the bands website wouldn't cut it if you are trying to get it to GA. I have no experience with band articles, but on a rough read through, I would expand Volbeat#Lineup, first by changing it to "Members", and adding a bit to each member, like saying how/why they joined the band, and maybe brief info on the members, nothing elaborate. The award section should be in paragraph form, The_Beatles#Awards_and_recognition, for example. As an over all example, The_Beatles is a great source/example of a general guideline for the article, since it is an WP:FA. You might have been referring to WP:PR, that is used for input on how to get the article up to GA/FA status, but I'd start with my recommendations first. Feel free to ask me if you need more help, I can help you get it up to GA, I won't really edit/research it, but I can be a guideline for you. CTJF83 chat 07:10, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I will look into it. Thanks for the advice. -Volbeatfan (talk) 15:01, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Love Blactually

Could you check the actual episode credits for Love Blactually (via the DVD credits) to see if their were only those two guest stars on that episode? It seems a little strange, and I just want to be completely sure. And it's at GAN, so if you could do take a look sometime today, that would be really helpful. Gage (talk) 12:23, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Meredith Baxter isn't in the credits, but she is listed as a guest star.
Not sure which of these you consider a guest star, but the listed ones are:
  • Alexandra Brekenrdige
  • Kirken Butler
  • Tom Devanney
  • Kat Foster
  • Ralph Garman
  • Chris Sheridan
  • Danny Smith
  • Alec Sulkin
  • John Viener

Why do you insist on the misspelled name rather than the common form? Seamus is Irish Gaelic for James, surely you know that... Hearfourmewesique (talk) 14:56, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Accusations of sock-puppetry

You accuse me repeatedly of being a sock-puppet of a banned user in front of other editors, and tell them to ignore me, so much so that someone (either you or another editor) started an investigation but you say you are being "friendly". What are you talking about? I've never posted anything on your talk page. Are you admitting to being User:DMSBel? CTJF83 chat 21:06, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
I never denied it. Just forgot that my IP address has a different talk page. I thought everyone knew 82.18.164.15 was DMSBel (me). I spelt it out in on the talk page of the marriage article. I have no idea who 71 is and as I said on the investigation page, his remark certainly was not supportive, I wasn't sure if he was being sarcastic at first, anyway it was not because I got any encouragement from him that I continued to discuss the proposed changes in the article intro. He was always telling me I was dealing with dishonest, and disingenuous editors. So does it not seem pretty obvious now it is two different editors. Why would one sock-puppet be trying to discourage himself from making changes???? 82.18.164.15 (talk) 21:36, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
It's happened before...makes it look legitimate. CTJF83 chat 05:48, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Homophobia

Hi,

i have noticed you have repeatedly been removing the edit i have made to the homophobia page, ie victimised homophobia.

the article does have references and has done for the past several times that it has been posted.

From your page it is quite clear that you are pro homosexuality, and it does appear to be a strong prejudist that you hold against anything that may regard to negative aspects of the homosexual community.

If you continue to do so i will have to take this to resolution as it seems quite apparent that you are biasing, and hence subversively tending away from the factual accuracy and completion of the homophobia wiki article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Daenumen (talkcontribs) 21:28, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Take it to resolution, I removed it for lack of sources, not because I disagree with what it said, find RELIABLE sources, then add it, simple as that. CTJF83 chat 21:37, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

I have further added more references such that the edit i have made includes both secondary and tertiary sources and once again you have removed it??

not only this but you have also removed two additions from this page that do not require sources.

ie where i further clarified that the alteration of homosexuality being a capital punishment was altered to a prison scentence (during the War on Terror and that we are still unaware if this will effect rates of rape between prison inmates. are you opposed to unbiased and clear articles regarding specifically homosexuality if not also others that you share similar bias towards?? ???

let's examine your sources...
  • traditionalvalues.org does that sound neutral to you? no
  • religioustolerance.org
then 2 good sources, and the rest vaguely linked to wikipedia pages...how do you think that meets WP:V and WP:neutral CTJF83 chat 03:18, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

please dont pretend that the rest of the sources provided are not all biased in favour of homosexuality, and that the general tone and discussion on the page is almost entirely pro-homosexuality.

so they may present some degree of baised against homosexual rape yes, but its addition to the article would only serve to balance the wikiarticle.

all the tertiary links are directly related to the topic being discussed, and all (except possibly 1) wiki pages are verified by secondary sources. so they are all reliable verification of terminology and manifestation.

you are simply expressing your prejudice by selective permission to add text to LGBT stubs.

i have added several other source articles, that both verify the topic of disucussion and provide more secondary sources for topics discussed in the edit.

i have checked with the wiki pages regarding verifiability and sources, and from what i can understand it meets all criteria. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Daenumen (talkcontribs) 10:17, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

infact having just looked through the list of sources quite a few appear to be blog pages, the article relating to islam and homosexuality is actually sourced FROM wikipedia, and is also inaccurate with respect to its content and conclusion (ie homosexuality in islam is considered a crime against humanity, since it is a sin that according to the quran can lead to destruction of civilisations. also lewdity does not directly correlate to homosexuality.)

many other sites are unverified secondary sources of questionable reliability.

some sources are clearly biased in their terminology eg the Riddle homophobia scale which differentiates between 'positive' attitudes ie pro homosexuality, and 'homophobic' attitudes, where homophobia is already described as unnatural and unhealthy. (clear biasing)

and once again, most articles take a strongly biased stance towards homosexuality being acceptible. homosexuality itself is a phenomena completely distinct from the phobia.

i hope you will consider amending these citations and the rest of the article next time you remove my additions. Daenumen (talk) 10:49, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

In future please put drafts through DRV rather then simply recreating pages that have been deleted after an AFD. Spartaz Humbug! 06:03, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Well you deleted it a year ago...doesn't DRV have some sort of time frame? CTJF83 chat 06:06, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Absolutely not no. Spartaz Humbug! 06:07, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
And if I may say so, at the very least courtesy should have suggested you checked with me first or did you not notice the previous deletion? Spartaz Humbug! 06:08, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
I never looked at the AfD for the first one, no. CTJF83 chat 06:10, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
That's incredibly careless. How do you know you have overcome the standing consensus if you don't even look at it? That's.. well.. beyond words. I really hope you are planning to take more care in future. Spartaz Humbug! 06:15, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for AGF, and calling my actions careless...skimming over the first one, I'm not even sure the consensus was to delete. CTJF83 chat 06:20, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
And attacking my close a year after the event because you didn't bother to check read it before creating this article assumes good faith how? Um did you even know the page had been deleted at AFD? Do you check page logs before creating stuff? Spartaz Humbug! 06:41, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
I didn't attack your close, it looks like a no consensus to me. CTJF83 chat 06:43, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
  • The image you took is clearly a copyvio on the blog where you got it [1]. There is no attributation, no license and the original source is not declared. On second thoughts I'm deleting it as a copyvio but there is no reason why you can't find another image from a reputable source with author and licensing information. Spartaz Humbug! 06:47, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Well can you help me then? I'm horrible with images. CTJF83 chat 06:50, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
So I noticed ;-) I'm looking now but everything on the net seems to be a copyvio and the only one with freeish license according to google is another copyvio. Your best bet is to find something from the americal idol website - it will clearly own the license to its own images and that would be easier to argue fairuse for. Spartaz Humbug! 06:55, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Before I look through all their photos, do you know if she was top 24 or anything? CTJF83 chat 06:59, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
I doubt it. Didn't she go out in the early stages?
Actually you aren't that bad with images, I looked at your uploads and the only dodgy one is this one - exactly the same where you attribute the source to a copyright violating blog. What you need to do is find the original source of the image and source it to that. Everything else looks correctly attributed. Spartaz Humbug! 07:02, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
No idea, I don't watch it...will one of these with Idol logos, where she is clearly on stage, be good, cause I would assume Idol/Fox on those. CTJF83 chat 07:04, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
No really a good one but clearly a screenshot, so owned by Fox CTJF83 chat 07:06, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Looks like original source for Shepard CTJF83 chat 07:10, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
That will do then, just switch the sources round and make sure the license is correct and is fixed Spartaz Humbug! 07:54, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
What will do? The screenshot? Either way might as well wait for AfD results..and on File:Matthew Shepard.jpg why does the author not show up in view mode, but it does in edit. CTJF83 chat 07:57, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Sorry my comment was a but rushed. I'm referring to the shepard image only. The idol stuff needs to come from the original source. Screen caps would be a worse choice then finding the original of an image. Spartaz Humbug! 10:36, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Yeah i understand were he is coming for, but he said if we could find something o a real production he would pass it, well we have a bit of things, we have why it takes a year to produce, and why the episode has a title without death or murder in it, but it is difficult i think we are done as far as we can do know, darn high standers. --Pedro J. the rookie 16:39, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

It's the episode guide Bignole was suggesting we get. Scroll through, it is the actual book on Google for us to read through. Homophobia Discussion

Hi, I have written a response to the recent issue of the improperly cited and worded addition to the Homophobia article (on it's Talk Page). It's rather lengthy, but I am hoping it accurately portrays everything that is currently at issue. Please let me know what you think, as well as make your own additions to that section to ensure I have properly portrayed (along with my own viewpoints on it) your opinion on the matter and Wikipedia's policy on such issues. Thanks, RobertMfromLI | User Talk 18:39, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

I'll go look. CTJF83 chat 18:41, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi ctjf83, Regarding the article Homophobia since you were involved in issuing a warning, I would appreciate it if you would review the conversation on the article's talk page (and Daenumen's Talk page) and weigh in on whether my synopsis of the problems we all have are correct, and properly stated on everyone's behalf. Thanks, RobertMfromLI | User Talk 14:52, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
OK CTJF83 chat 16:39, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Do you mean Talk:Homophobia#discriminatory_biased_applied_in_the_article? Yikes, looks really long, and the same kind of stuff from Daenumen...can you summarize, I hate reading, lol. CTJF83 chat 16:41, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Most of the back and forth is the same as before. The portion I am most concerned with is where I may have overstepped myself in my second to last entry by stating a general consensus held by us all on this issue. It starts thusly: "Let me try to explain this one more time. I am pretty sure absolutely no one (other editors, correct me if I am mis-speaking on your behalf) cares (in regards to including it in the article) what the heck premise you are trying to make - whether we disagree with it or not..." then to continue in a paraphrased fashion (otherwise this will be a book) goes on to indicate (again, paraphrased) "Dont keep posting your explanation of what vicitimized homophobia is here. All we want are you to word it WP:NPOV, give it proper weight (minority position should not use as much space as the entire rest of the article), find proper sources (ie: you make medical claims but never cite a valid medical authority), understand that WP:OR is not permitted (and while you admit cases of such are rarely reported, you base this on the premise that the research is wrong and such cases are the vast majority of causes), etc"; closing with "You can either work with us and address the issues to reach a consensus, or give up"
That is the position on the issue I put forth on the behalf of all the editors who have involved themselves. If I have accurately stated your opinion, you're welcome to indicate such on the article's talk page. If I have mis-stated your opinion on the matter, please, also feel free to state that there (with my apologies in advance).
In addition, from reviewing all the citations, I had come to the conclusion that none were appropriate to their use (even if valid otherwise; ie: reliable sources, etc) - but that and the rest I solely attributed to myself and my reading of his article and following his citation.
Best, RobertMfromLI | User Talk 22:04, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Thank you, for summarizing that...and I totally agree with you, and will make my agreeableness on the talk page. CTJF83 chat 22:56, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

I urge you to reopen and relist this one. Shortly after you did a non-admin close, another long-time editor prodded it as non-notable. Looking at the article and the AFD discussion, I think it needs more discussion, if not an outright speedy tag. 69.181.249.92 (talk) 07:01, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

Well per WP:RELIST it shouldn't be relisted a third time... CTJF83 chat 14:50, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Well, frak. I really don't want to have to learn the ropes necessary to take it to DRV. And I suspect that, as an IP editor, I'll have to jump through additional hoops to do so and that it will languish there for a while anyway (as they often do at AFD). Any other recourse available? 69.181.249.92 (talk) 19:42, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Recourse to have it deleted? Not really, there was no consensus, why do you want it deleted so badly? CTJF83 chat 23:58, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

PRIDE

Hi Ctjf83, Thank you for the formatting work you did to improve the PRIDE page. I think I know why you changes it, but may I suggest that it appear as "Personal Rights in Defense and Education (PRIDE)". The word PRIDE needs to appear in the title as almost everyone called it by its initials rather then saying the whole name Personal Rights in Defense and Education. In the majority of the research and reference materials I have read. The organizations name appears as "(PRIDE) Personal Rights in Defense and Education". So for uniformity could we include (PRIDE) at the end. When people search the name they are going to write "(PRIDE) Personal Rights in Defense and Education" more often then not. Anyway I did not feel I should change it on my own, but rather thought it would be better to make my case to you and see if my compromise would be acceptable. Thank you again for polishing up the article, much appreciated. PinkCityHistorian (talk) 19:21, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Ctjf83 I understand now that you were applying the Wiki naming rules and your point that in the first sentence its explained what the the PRIDE name is from. I defer to your experience and judgement. Thank you for your clear explanation. PinkCityHistorian (talk) 19:39, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Ctjf83 I am completely comfortable with your solution and I very much appreciate that you need to balance between the Wiki naming guidance and the users ease of search and I think you have that balance. My goal with each entry I create is to comply as best I can with the Wiki guidelines. So I value the process and see the benefit of discussion with senior level editors. My goal is to get important and relevant "gay" historical and cultural people and places simply and properly represented. I am happy to work through the system and make those articles be a useful to researchers as is possible. PinkCityHistorian (talk) 21:53, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi Ctjf83 can you independently review the changes that (Are You The Cow Of Pain) added to the PRIDE article. The foot notes cover the whole paragraph in each section and double foot notes if it is crossed sources. (Are You The Cow Of Pain) put in a whole bunch of (citation needed) without actual going to see that the paragraph is cover by the full page from the reference material. If the foot not e covered the whole paragraph then there is no need to put 3, 4 to 5 of the same foot note in a row. Can you please review and advise me If you like I will go back and put the same foot note in for all the sentence in the paragraph, but they will refer to the same page I footnoted the section with. I kinda feel like (Are You The Cow Of Pain) has over reached here. There are so many under footnotes (and over) on wiki I really made and effort to keep the article clean, clear and correct. Please advise. (sorry logged in from my sisters CPU its PinkCityHistorian (talk 166.187.201.176 (talk) 06:32, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

Ctjf83 thank you for your guidance, I will do both 1. inform (Are You The Cow Of Pain) how its sourced and that Wiki rule allow for that, 2. I will add in some of the (citation needed) with either an further source or the same source info. that was at the end of the paragraph. Have an nice weekend, I very much appreciate and value your time in assisting me on this. PinkCityHistorian (talk) 19:45, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

Ctjf83 I would also like to bring to your attention there is something that I find it unsettling. Why is (Are You The Cow Of Pain) putting this article, my other articles on gay subjects and other LGBT articles in general under intense scrutiny when there are whole articles in wiki that are fully un-sourced and clearly product or brand promos. (I mean really obvious) Here is a prime example http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Nokia_E70 this is source from only one place and is a source that is a internal Nokia document. Its a promotion for the Nokia brand. I am not saying remove it, but I am saying before (Are You The Cow Of Pain) starts splitting hairs in the PRIDE article that was well researched, fully sourced and footnoted. My in stints are telling me that there is more to this. I am making a real effort to get LGBT articles written, cleanly reported, sourced and as accurate as possible, about subjects from gay history that were originally suppressed by a bias press or a oppressive anti-gay police or city government. Because these places and people stories where under-reported due to discrimination does not mean that are not historically valid. Research is difficult and time consuming on this subject as the Status Quo so vigorously suppressed any information on this subject for 2/3rds of the 20th century. Yet my articles are base only on known reliable, verifiable sources. (Are You The Cow Of Pain) aggressively came after my first article on the oldest gay leather bar in LA (The Eagle LA) and got it deleted on somewhat bogus grounds. I was to inexperienced with Wiki to properly fight back. But I did follow up, learn how to show sourcing and footnotes better and I am rewriting it and its now fully sourced with much more research then before and then I will repost it and ask for your comments and oversight along with CIRT who deleted it at (Are You The Cow Of Pain) request and then agreed to put it back in my sand box for me to rework and repost as a more wikified article. (Are You The Cow Of Pain) used the position I used above that they "thought" it might be a promotion for the bar, completely not seeing how essential these places were in gay history as a place of refuge , political organization and as community centers because no other spaces were made available to gays. The Eagle LA is the story of an establishment that was a contemporary of the Black Cat Tavern the PRIDE organization, The Metropolitan Community Church and the The Patch (bar) and is a vital part of the story of the pre Stonewall Inn resistance that happen in Silverlake LA a full two years before the Stonewall riots. This part of gay history has bee so under reported that it has only really been discussed in the last 10 years and finally is included in Wiki along with the historic Stonewall Riots. This stuff matters! Its all part of the bigger story of the evolution of gay Americans stepping up and demanding their rights as Americans. All the parts of the story need to be presented. I guess I am suggesting , where there is smoke there may be conflagration. Possibly further scrutiny may be called for on changes to LGBT articles, I am just suggesting oversight. After I post on (Are You The Cow Of Pain) talk page could you take a look at the conversation and what further changes (Are You The Cow Of Pain) makes to LGBT articles. Or who at Wiki I should turn to with this question. If you feel I am being to sensative or off base here please just tell me. PinkCityHistorian (talk) 19:45, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

Non-admin closure of AFD for China National Highway 110 traffic jam

Your non-admin closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/China National Highway 110 traffic jam (2nd nomination)‎ was inappropriate. I gave a clear and detailed reasoning for my nomination, it was not acceptable that you closed it with the reasoning that there was "no reason for this AFD". I hereby ask you to reopen the AFD, please, and let an admin close it if he determines a need for it. This was not an uncontroversial close, in my book. Strange Passerby (talkcstatus) 05:07, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Nothing in the closing policy says I can't close "controversial" AfDs. I see no reason, 3 weeks after a previous keep AfD to have another AfD going, because you didn't like the outcome. If you read 2-3, that case applies. Only 3 full deletes on the last AfD with 36 keep/merge/redirect, I would consider 36-3 a strong case, as 2-3 mentions. CTJF83 chat 05:15, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
"Because (I) didn't like the outcome"? Pretty quick to judge, aren't you? I haven't contributed to the article at all. You should be assuming good faith here. Or should I bring it to ANI? Strange Passerby (talkcstatus) 05:16, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
*Striked* My apologies, I would say the best place to take it is WP:Deletion review. It's only been 12 hours, but you are the only delete, I see no reason to have this drawn out for 6.5 more days, and then taken to DR. CTJF83 chat 05:19, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Exactly. "It's only been 12 hours". I wouldn't have minded if it was three days. But in 12 hours? Sorry, I can't accept that as a speedy keep close by a non-admin. I'd suggest ANI would be the best place for an admin third opinion here, but I think we can avoid that if you'd just reopen the AFD and let it run for a few more days. If you look at my AFD history, I know when to withdraw my own AFDs if I feel there's good reasoning on the keep side, and I'll similarly do so if it warrants. I don't see WP:DRV as the place for this as my nomination rationale is different from the first AFD's deletion rationale. Strange Passerby (talkcstatus) 05:23, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
I really don't think admins are any better at making decisions then experienced non-admins. I really don't like ANI threats, but although I doubt it will make any difference, I'll AGF and reopen it. CTJF83 chat 05:28, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Thank you. As I said, I'll withdraw it at a later time if the situation changes or calls for it. What really got my goat was that it was a non-admin speedy keep after just 12 hours, which is not enough time imo to let any consensus develop. Strange Passerby (talkcstatus) 05:30, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Also, I did not mean for "should I take it to ANI?" to come across as a threat; I could've been clearer. As mentioned subsequently, I only meant to take it to ANI for an admin third opinion on the speedy keep, and not regarding anything else. Strange Passerby (talkcstatus) 05:34, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Ohh...I took it as you wanting to take it to ANI because I didn't AGF. No worries now that we got it cleared up! CTJF83 chat 05:36, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Meg Griffin

well, the episodes themselves count as sources. no reason to add third party sources, when the episodes themselves are 100% reliable proof of it's own contend. and it seems clear you have not watched a whole lot of family guy, or you should know what i'm talking about. or, alternately, if you do know what i'm talking about, how about improving on it rather them, rather then getting off on reverting other people's posts whenever you can. all i am trying to do is add something that is significantly lacking in the article. i shouldn't be required to go all out of my way to figure out which episodes exactly it were, and then try to find external sources other then wikipedia to describe the contend of those episodes, including the part where they suggest Meg has Gender Identity Disorder. obviously, editing wikpidia not being a payed employment, the prerequisit for adding significant information that way becomes insanely much. yes, formally you can remove any unsourced data, but just think of how small and extremely difficult to expand wikipedia would be if everyone would just revert all others' edits unless they have a source added. that's not how it works. what people do for the most part is adding a "source needed" tag to the claim, rather then just deleting it outright.

now, for your pleasure only, since i have such a servile nature, i got you some small proof here where you can, at 1:15, hear Jesus call Meg "feller", which means boy. that's one of those implications i was talking about. that satisfy you?· Lygophile has spoken 21:11, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

yes, and the episodes are a source. aren't episodes verifiable? come on. and just because it requires a source doesnt mean you delete everything without a source. again, wikipedia would be unviable if everyone did that. you add a source needed tag.
also what does jesus calling her a fellow have to do with peter? peter is not jesus.
it's just an example anyway. there are more episodes where something like that happen. in one, they look into the future somehow, and she's a man. a bearded man. im not sure what episode that is, i believe the one where stewie's visited by a christmas spirit or something.
what, you really believe i'm just making stuff up, and actually accidentally managed to find jesus agreeing with me by mere coincidence?· Lygophile has spoken 22:06, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
that's not original research, pal. i said "implied". that's what an implication is. if she said "i have gender identity disorder" it wouldn't be an implication. that is definitely not required, there are far vaguer assertion in the article. Lygophile has spoken 22:06, 27 September 2010 (UTC

Nice photos, thanks! I loved the one of the Dillon Fountain. The angle, the colors in the trees (which I realize were there before you took the picture!) were great. I have several more articles in the works. I really appreciate your help.

Need a small favor...

A while back you said if I ever needed any help to just ask so I'm asking for a small favor... I recently had a peer review of Bartow, Florida, and was given a really thorough review (I think by the same editor who recently gave a review of Davenport). The reviewer suggested I get a second opinion before I took it to GA, so I wonder if you could take a look at it. The one section I've changed since the review was Historic sections and landmarks (User:Jappalang did say that he thought there were too many lists near the end, something I agree with so I changed this section to prose). If you could take a quick look at it before I go to GA and give me your thoughts (and feel free to copyedit whatever it needs it), I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks VictorianMutant (talk) 01:50, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Sure, I can gladly get to that Monday afternoon. CTJF83 chat 03:12, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Take your time... not planning to nominate for GA til next week. Thanks again. VictorianMutant (talk) 05:00, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Sorry didn't know you were working on it... just changed trnasportation section to prose from a list. Will leave it alone while you work on it. VictorianMutant (talk) 22:21, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
No problem, I haven't done much changing yet, so no big deal, I'll let you know when I'm done with editing it. CTJF83 chat 22:22, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Ok, I'm taking a 60-90ish minute break to prepare and eat dinner, so feel free to edit whatever you need on the page. Depending how close I finish to 9pm central time, I will either finish my review before 9 or start it up after 10pm, but it will be done tonight. CTJF83 chat 23:46, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Ok, I've finished my review, and posted it on the PR page, any other help for any query please don't hesitate to ask! CTJF83 chat 03:50, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Vp

You do have some images that could work for VP but alot have noise i'n the sky or some are tilted. Spongie555 (talk) 21:43, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

I say that out of all of them maybe this one, File:Hose Station No. 1 (Davenport, Iowa).jpg, could pass. Spongie555 (talk) 21:51, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
It was one of the only ones without noise or tilt. But at VP we judge more by EV then quality. If you look at this image of yours, File:First National Bank Building (Davenport, Iowa).jpg you can see the tilt to the right. If you can get someone to help fix the tilt some images could pass VP if fixed. Spongie555 (talk) 22:00, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
This image has noise, File:Downtown Davenport.jpg. if it's fixed it could be a VP probably.
Also alot of images have trees blocking the view like in File:Davenport, Iowa City Hall.jpg. Spongie555 (talk) 22:12, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Misuse

Actually the edit was rolled back for block evasion, which I would consider vandalisim. Check all the facts before you accuse me of misuse, on an uneraseable edit summary. CTJF83 chat 19:06, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

According what is Wikipedia:Vandalism "block evasion" is not vandalism. I would consider is original research. TbhotchTalk C. 19:10, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Actually block evasion isn't even listed on that page...I guess we will have to disagree then. CTJF83 chat 19:13, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
I can't find the page to back this up, but I thought it was understood that content added by a blocked user was to be reverted on sight even if it was a beneficial edit. –Fredddie 19:21, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Sounds good to me...if you find it, please post it for me. CTJF83 chat 19:24, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
(breaking off thread as topic seems to have shifted.) I believe the rule with banned (not blocked) users evading the ban is that their edits may be reverted on sight, regardless of its usefulness (unless the reversion would insert content otherwise not allowed by WP policies, such as defamation or false information - such reversions are not allowed). But editors may reinstate the edit if it's either obviously helpful or if they have an independent reason for wanting the edit. (See WP:BAN#Edits by and on behalf of banned editors.) It would make sense to apply a rule that is no harsher than this one to edits by blocked users, imho, since block evasion is a less serious offense than ban evasion. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 21:01, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for your input and the link. Is there a place where I could propose a guideline so that blocked user may be reverted on sight too? Just WP:VP? CTJF83 chat 21:05, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, probably. Or if there's a better place for it, I'm sure they can direct you to it - it's possible we have such a policy for blocked users and I've just forgotten about it... Post a link if you propose such a policy? --Philosopher Let us reason together. 21:41, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Well your hidden note shows you understand WP:BLP so not sure why you are questioning my revert anyway...clearly saying any of those pictured men have sex with men is a violation of BLP. CTJF83 chat 20:03, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
You are misunderstanding the caption, nowhere it states that those men are straight men and have sex with other men. It states that men may have sex with other men and never identify themselves as G / B / T, but it states that those man have patrons, as go to gay clubs. TbhotchTalk C. 20:29, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
What do you mean "but it states that those man have patrons, as go to gay clubs"? Your revert caption says: "Men, such as these patrons of a gay club, may never self-identify as men who have sex with men even if they engage in same-sex sexual behaviours, but researchers use the term for a variety of reasons"....it clearly implies that the pictured men have sex with men, even if they don't identify as "men who have sex with men"...clearly some straight guy could take serious offense to that accusation, thus cause BLP damage, and possible libel. CTJF83 chat 20:34, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
And Wikipedia will be sued, that's why BLP is a serious rule. UUU I'm so afraid. BTW, that image had been for many time and no one take it as offense as now. TbhotchTalk C. 20:45, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Regardless of BLP, we should only caption images with facts. For all we know, totally not-gay bro-dances are common in Tel Aviv. We should never assume anything from a picture, ever. –Fredddie 22:05, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Continuous Deletion

I have one simple question following this statement: MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, LastFM, Reverbnation and other social networking sites are unreliable and unprofessional. I have always felt that Wikipedia adds a certain level of professionalism to the mix.

Now how is a band/business/anything supposed to have a reliable and solid article about them, if you keep deleting them? ----Ctk986 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ctk986 (talkcontribs) 05:21, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Well if they were important/notable enough they would be covered in several reliable places. Wikipedia is not a place for every band or everything in existence. That's why there are notability guidelines like WP:BAND that every article must meet, or be subject to deletion. Remember, please sign your post by typing ~~~~ CTJF83 chat 05:26, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Jacob Kraemer‎

I've removed the BLPPROD here, the article predates March 18, 2010, and therefore is ineligible for the process. HELPING RifeIdeas (a newbie)

You caught me! I was just going to look at your editing to learn but you must have some detection device (bot I think) that sees I was here so I decided to leave a note.

As you may know from Philosopher's page I am a real newbie to Wiki editing. thanks for confirming what I thought about the using pictures from the web unfortunately I used the "Free Image Search Tool" which included flickr.com to no avail. I had thought about contacting you for help as a possible mentor and this gives me the opportunity to do so. I have about a 100 questions but I will start with these:

I have been working on my own user and discussion pages to learn how to format and edit (take a look) but I spent way to much time trying to determine how to set the WikiProject Iowa box to the right side of my user page leaving the text to the left side of the page (with no success I ended up defaulting to many line breaks to bring the text to below the box instead of leaving the text on the right side of the box). How is that achieved? Also can I set up some kind of template on the right side of my page for future banner boxes?

Also how do I set what I would call text boxes into the edit (like your red talk page stalker box)? I looked at the editing and have some grasp of how it is accomplished I just am looking for a Wiki info page (other than Wiki markup)to give me more details especially if I want something more than just centered. And since I can see the need in the near future for some kind of archival mechanism like you and Philosopher have I might as well get that established. Again I looked at the editing for your archive and can see a need for me to have more documentation.

I am assuming that these discussion pages are what wiki editors use instead of an email system, am I correct?

My last question (for this post haha) is currently I have to copy and paste in my personalized userID/talk code is there a way to make a "hot key" shortcut?

RifeIdeasTalk 21:01, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

If you ever have any questions, feel more than free to message me and ask. To put the userbox on the right side, put {{boxtop}} above the userbox and {{boxbottom}} below it. Then any additional userboxes you want, just put them above {{boxbottom}}.
Too get a red box like my stalker just put <center><div style="width:50%">{{divbox|red|..The message...}}</div></center> at the top, or if you want it just to appear when an editor edits the page, like User talk:Ctjf83/Editnotice, put your note in User talk:RifeIdeas/Editnotice, you can just use mine as a guide on how to make one.
Check Help:Wiki markup for markup help.
User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo has instructions on how to set up auto archive, if you need help, let me know and I can do it for you.
Ya, talk pages are the main form of communication on Wikipedia. Everyone will always be able to see anything you add, so for more private matters, you can e-mail a user.
To sign your posts just type ~~~~. If you click on "my preferences" at the top, scroll down to signature and add <span style="font-family:Verdana">'''''[[User:RifeIdeas|<span style="color:DarkGreen">Rife</span><span style="color:orange;">Ideas</span>]]'''''[[User talk:RifeIdeas|Talk]]</span> Which is your current signature. Then check the "Treat the above as wiki markup" box and it should work. Any more questions, feel free to ask. CTJF83 chat 21:20, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the Kraig Paulsen picture I had not done any work on his site yet (learning curve) but I did move your post on my site to the Kraig Paulsen heading I had already made and eliminated the header you had put there (duplication). Did you do a search for Deborah Berry? You may be better at it than me. I do want to learn how this picture finding works (legally)
I want to understand exactly how this posting works. You posted on my site and that is good if I put this edit below your post (on my site) will you know? To be safe I plan to post both on my talk page and yours. (duplication I know) RifeIdeasTalk 21:36, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

re: Edit request - condense Criticism and Controversy section

Thanks again for your assistance and please have a look at the revised section. Most of the original portion was dedicated to examples that went into too much detail for a summary, so the revision is considerably shorter. If you feel it's too brief I can add some content by expanding upon the references. 96.252.169.163 (talk) 05:59, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

A slight expansion would be good...ideally it should summarize every section at Criticism of Family Guy CTJF83 chat 06:10, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
A summary around the length of the image would probably be good. CTJF83 chat 06:28, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Done...well, more or less. I got it up to the length of the image, but then I noticed some unsourced info and dead links which I took out. The result is a bit shorter but I think it gives an adequate summary - the only thing left to "pad" it with would be the aforementioned specific details which belong on the dedicated article, not the summary. The image itself could actually be moved to the criticism article as well, but someone else can make that call. It's at least as relevant to the parent article as a portrait of Dwayne Johnson, anyway.
Thanks again for all your help, and I'm getting some sleep so I'll check back here in a day or so. Cheers! 96.252.169.163 (talk) 08:42, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Looks good, I might slightly expand it...but before I do anything, can you make sure everything on the Family Guy page is listed on the criticism page? For example the parts on Quagmire's Dad and 420 (Family Guy) aren't listed on the criticism page, and I don't want to completely remove them with your shortened version. NRHP in Scott County

I've completed almost all the pages I have sources for except the Davenport Village, of which I've never heard it called that (ever), a couple of apartment buildings and a couple of buildings on W. 3rd St. that I want to look at myself. I should have a little time while I'm in the QCs in a couple of weeks. Do you want me to write "stubs" for the remaining pages? And by a stub I mean bare bones; one or two sentences at most that basically says it exists and is on the NRHP. I realize some of the other pages I have written are a little more than stubs, but they do provide some information about the place.

In regard to the "Davenport Village" I see no reason to call the page by that title seeing as it's called the Village of East Davenport. The Village, however, has a redirect page to the Neighborhoods of Davenport, Iowa page, and I don't know how to handle that. Any thoughts you have on this would be greatly appreciated. Farragutful (talk) 23:42, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

I would greatly appreciate if you created a stub on every property, if you want. I think even a short stub is better than nothing, and I like reading up on them. I'll get some pictures soon for the pictureless ones. As far as Village of East Davenport, I would say change the name to that, and you can just expand the redirect out and create an article from it. I've never, ever heard it called Davenport Village, so WP:COMMONNAME applies in my opinion. Thanks for all your hard work! CTJF83 chat 23:47, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure what to do in regard to the redirect. I've been searching for over an hour now. Help! Farragutful (talk) 18:21, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Recent AFD

I'm not sure you're supposed to do a non-admin closure to an AFD in which you participated. I have no objection, obviously, but I thought I'd bring it up since I wouldn't want you to run afoul of some admin in a more contentious case. --Nuujinn (talk) 19:04, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, good point, after I did it, I wasn't sure I should have. thanks! CTJF83 chat 19:05, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
The admin who did the deletion should have done the close at the same time, he must have forgotten to do so. I don't think there is any real problem because the close did not require any interpretation of the debate due to the article already having been deleted. The one problem I saw was that you re-created the talk page with a notice that the article had been deleted. Once an article is deleted generally there is no more talk page for it. I went ahead and re-deleted it. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:17, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

1st Governor of Iowa

I have left a lengthy question request on Talk:Ansel Briggs about the article Ansel Briggs. If you would please give me your input it would be appreciated. I also cc this message to Philosopher. I also hope you will walk me through the process of uploading a picture from flicker to Wiki commons. About 2 weeks ago I was frustrated when I spent around 2 hrs with no success. I want to do the actual upload but need your help, the picture is the Ice cream capital of the world in Le Mars, Iowa.jpg and the flicker link is http://www.flickr.com/photos/timwilson/855613727/
Thanks RifeIdeas Talk 19:25, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Ok, looks like it meets the criteria at WP:FLICKR. Go to Commons and click "upload file" on the left. Select "It is someone else's work from Flickr (more information on uploading Flickr images)" Fill in the ones with question marks. You can skip "other versions" and "permissions" as permission will be shown when you link to the Flickr image in the above source section. At the bottom select the 2nd one from the drop down menu. Any more help, ask me. CTJF83 chat 19:30, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
  • In the Destination filename I put Le Mars Visitor Center Sign.jpg ( .jpg is the right file name for a JPEG correct? )
  • In the Original source I put http://www.flickr.com/photos/timwilson/855613727/
  • In the Author(s) I put TimWatson
  • In the Description I put {{Information|Description=Le Mars Visitor center Sign}}
  • In the Other versions I skipped per your instructions
  • In the Permission I skipped per your instructions
  • In the Additional info I skipped (correct ? )
  • In the Licensing I put Uploaded to Flicker under Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 2.0 (correct ? )
  • In the Catagories I put Signs Iowa Ice cream Cities in Iowa

I am pretty sure except for the jpg question and Licensing. Is all okay? I await your answer.
And Whaaaa I wanted to make the changes to theAnsel Briggs and Talk:Ansel Briggs pages LOL Thanks for the picture, I will have to see how to search for pictures more effectively as I thought I checked Commons. What did you think of the article? RifeIdeas Talk 20:54, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

The vast number of IPs getting all het up on the task force page raised my suspicions, and a Google search confirmed that we're being over-run by a bunch of angry anons. NRHP Scott County, Iowa

Glad to see u continuing at developing the NRHP Scott County, Iowa list-article. Can't answer ur question yet, as it would depend on how much improvement is done. I have commented in some Featured List candidacy reviews though, and this list-article seems like it has a ways to go first. There's no requirement that every entry in a list-article has to be a bluelink, but it does help to have all the articles started, like you are doing. And, I think writing out some short description of each place, for the column now labelled "Summary", would help the list-article. Probably a good intermediate step would be to request a wp:PR peer review for the list-article, once you've done some more improvement. Or u can put it up directly for wp:FLC, and get reviews there. I happen to think the peer review comments are often more friendly and helpful. Hope this helps! --doncram (talk) 18:00, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

I'm gonna try running an off-wiki program using the National Register's NRIS database, to draft material to add to some of the Scott County NRHP articles. In the next day or two, i'll comment at Talk:National Register of Historic Places listings in Scott County, Iowa. --doncram (talk) 20:40, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Semi-protection?

Would you like this page semi-protected until the trolls find something else to do? Acroterion (talk) 23:26, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Umm...I don't know, a few months ago I would have said yes without thought, but now, my attitude towards IPs has strongly improved. I'd say no at this point, because it appears to be only once a day or 2 that the user removes it. I think right now the best option is to have people watching my page, and quickly revert/block the users. One thing I'm not going to do is remove it though....you never even suggested that, just throwing it out there. :) CTJF83 chat 23:32, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
That's why I asked first - there are lots of watchers here, it would appear, so we can just keep lurking and grab them as they swim by. Acroterion (talk) 23:37, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
LOL, ok. In all honesty, if i was offended/upset every time i was called a faggot or queer, I'd never be happy, so it doesn't bother me at all. As a 3rd option, could the IP address (assuming it is one) be blocked from creating accounts for X amount of time? CTJF83 chat 23:40, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
That's what autoblock does. It wears off after a while, though. We might be able to interest a checkuser in looking at the IP pattern and see if a rangeblock is feasible. Acroterion (talk) 23:43, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
If you feel checkuser is good option, we can do that, otherwise, like I said, don't wanna make an overly big deal out of something that doesn't even really bother me. CTJF83 chat 23:44, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Re: List of Speaker of the House~

Sorry it took awhile to get back to you about your request for clarification; tracking my edits, questions, and suggestions will get easier next month when I create an account. Meanwhile, in the section List of Speakers by state just says "California - 1", for example, not "California - Nancy Pelosi"; if it's going to stay by-the-numbers, list is inaccurate. If we're going to break them out, happy to help. Thoughts? :D 75.203.158.55 (talk) 07:02, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Can you please link me to the discussion you are referring to? I'm not sure if listing all the representatives under each state is a good idea, as it will add a lot to the length of the page, but I am open to discussing it with you. CTJF83 chat 07:50, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
List of Speakers of the United States House of Representatives Probably an easier way to do this. Different IP, still me. 75.204.67.18 (talk) 02:42, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
I think you want this to list each Speaker from their state? I'm not sure that is a good idea, as it will add to the length of the article. Plus if a user is curious as to which 8 speakers are from Massachusetts, they can easily type "ctrl+f" and type in "Massachusetts". I just think adding the names next to the numbers in the states adds too much length and is redundant information. CTJF83 chat 02:49, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
Right; it says it lists them, but it does not; it either should, or say it is the number from each state, which it is. It would be redundant, but it would be consolidated, remove white space, and back referencing. Either way. And that's the first I've known wikipedia had a find command. 75.204.67.18 (talk) 03:52, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Townships

As you may know I patrol all Iowa's communities and I see you are entering in data for the Iowa townships. First Thanks and then I wanted you to educated me. In Grant Township, Tama County, Iowa you are entered {{|coord|42.268074|-92.600355|display=title|type:landmark}}. My question is instead of landmark in some townships you have entered city instead of landmark, did you just forget this one? Should it be township instead of city?. Also I hope you would consider joining Wikipedia:WikiProject Iowa/Communities even if it is at Level 1) I am interested in Iowa communities but don't ask me I will help when I want., but hopefully a higher level. Also could you give me some feedback about the page? I respect constructive criticism. Keep up the good work.
--RifeIdeas Talk 17:07, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Ya, that was just an error, and should be "city", the default copy and paste on my user page is "landmark" and I forgot to change that one....actually ya, they should prob all be "township" instead, I'll fix them. I'll look over the Communities thing and join in a bit, I feel the urge to eat some lunch right now, lol, so headed to Panda Express and will be back and reply shortly :) CTJF83 chat 17:13, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
Page looks pretty good. Not sure the levels are important, because how accurate are they going to be? In the city tables, I have no idea what P1, P2, and P3 mean or I/C scale. Other than that it's a good start! CTJF83 chat 18:11, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
Actually the 2nd part of what kind of editor you are, and such is useful and I like that. CTJF83 chat 18:16, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
Yea I need to explain the P1 P2 etc. That is why a second or third set of eyes helps to improve a project. The P stands for priorities and the # is the level. This can be seen at Wikipedia:WikiProject Iowa/Communities/Priorities and the city tables is to create a system of bringing all cities up in levels of information without people duplicating the work. My theory is each member would "check out a table" and work on that table until all cities on that table have achieved the priority level and record when it was completed. I will work on that explanation soon and place it in the tables 2nd stage header. The I/C is Project Iowa/Project Cities but I may eliminate this as Philosophor has since set up a Category system that does this automatically at least with Project Iowa. The level (I assume level of commitment) is have a basis for communication or asking for participation that is why there is the don't call me level. There is always room for improvement. Thanks for your input.

Ok, I understand now...ya, it is off to a good start. CTJF83 chat 21:31, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
I improved many parts of Wikipedia:WikiProject Iowa/Communities per your comments. I also cut out the tables from the main page and put them on a separate page per Philosopher's comment to cut down on the page load time. Take a look and give me your feedback. Also look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Iowa/Communities/Priorities especially the Demographics section as I was thinking about making a Task A) (you will see why) just to update that section in all cities due to the 2010 census data coming out. On another subject look at Carol Morris another page I developed from 2 sentences. One last thing, do you get notified of a new message if I just add to an existing thread?
--RifeIdeas Talk 03:24, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
Yep, even if you add the letter A to word or something, I will get a notification, any edit made here (besides me or archive bots of course). The pages look great! You've done a lot of hard/great work! Keep it up, and let me know how I can be of assistance. CTJF83 chat 14:41, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

How you can help - where do I begin? First I appreciate you comment about the hard/great work. I assume you was able to navigate/find and understand everything with ease if not feel free to make improvements or let me know. The Wikipedia :WikiProject Iowa/Communities/Priorities is just a good start. Any information / sources / experiences / pitfalls to avoid / MOS conflicts that you can contribute would be helpful. I just today since you asked went and checked the traffic patterns for 3 years for the top 10 populated cities in Iowa. A table will be going on the main page when I can, but until then I will give you the short version. Hits per day for DM is tops 984, CR 2nd 400, Ames 3rd 385, you can work on improving any of those 3. Just as a reference Davenport is 6th with 285. In my opinion looking at DM today it needs a lot of work, I am going to tackle the empty chart in the Economy section soon, I noticed it a couple of weeks ago but was hoping someone would finish their job (wrong). If you are so inclined the "Museum" section is just a list of names with no descriptions. Any help to bring DM up to an A-Class Article would be appreciated. Of course you can "check out" a table and start working on Task 1 although improving the Priorities page may take priority. (haha) I had to fix a Demographics section today and went to "Fact Finders" from the US Census and seen they state it will be Feb 1 before that site will have the 2010 figures, so who knows it may be a while for population updates. Personally my article improvements will be random as I patrol recent edits until I have made all the Communities tables. Like the Carol Morris article I came by in the Notable people section of Ottumwa, Iowa, the only Miss Iowa to win a Miss USA title and then went on to win the Miss Universe for the USA in 1956, turned actress was a pathetic 2 lines and no info-box. I just had to improve it like the Ansel Briggs article.

Ok, I work 8 hrs today, and 12 the next two days, so won't do anything til Monday. I made Wikipedia:IA/C/P a shortcut redirect. At one point I wanted to get Iowa up to GA. I have suggestions at User:Ctjf83/Iowa, but that has gone no where in a year. I'm much more motivated to do stuff if I have another dedicated user helping me. Davenport, Iowa was a lot of work, most of it alone, so not really wanting to do a lot of work alone any time soon. CTJF83 chat 18:31, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
Yeah I have been so focused on the Incorporated cities of late, I let Iowa go right by even though I did originally conceive it as a community. I agree Iowa needs to be improved to A-Class and therefore GA from it's current B-Class. I will try to digest the older information you have directed me to, if you have a chance could you delete any irrelevant info on your userpage/Iowa. I took a quick look at Iowa before I wrote back and seen a couple of things I could work on. Thanks for the priorities shortcut, someday I will need to learn how that is done.--RifeIdeas Talk 19:11, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
Sure, I'll look over my subpage. CTJF83 chat 15:28, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
I know it has only been a few days and you are busy with Davenport FA and all, but have you had a chance to look over your User:Ctjf83/Iowa page to delete out any non relevant information ? I want to add it as a link on WP:IA/C and possibly Talk:Iowa. Speaking of Iowa could you take a quick look at the Iowa#Demographics and see if the chart Iowa's largest cities and their surrounding areas. (that I totally revamped) and see if the coloring that I did coordinates with the color in the Iowa Metropolitan Areas. (different computers may have different colors). Also compare the OLD Demographics section with the current one and give me feed back, Also take a look at WP:IA/C new section called Coordinates for communities – we both were wrong on how to label townships! But never again!
As always I appreciate feedback.--RifeIdeas Talk 20:40, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Damn! Just worked 8 hours, and you're putting me right back to work, lol...no problems...everything on User:Ctjf83/Iowa looks relevant, they were suggestions to improve from a year ago. For demographics, Des Moines (and suburbs) could go a shade greener, so the Des Moines words aren't confused with Cedar Rapids on the map. The rest of the section looks great, I love the color coordination (not sure why we didn't do that to begin with) and the Coords section on the project page looks good too! Keep up the great work! :) CTJF83 chat 05:08, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Adopt

HELLO,...I seriously need to be adopted. My collegue and I, Cheong Kwon in the USA (I am in Switzerland) are totally virgin to Wikipedia and have started an article which we hope to make as professional and perfect as possible. I am very confused on how to add inline citations, references and other credible documentation sourses. Also, we want to "UN peacock" our subject....all of the fact are correct but we need help to make the article as meaningful as possible.

It is on the LBGTQ subject of the artwork/doll Mdvanii by BillyBoy* & Lala

Cheong Kwon initiated the article and is administrator and she'll make me co-admin as soon as she can figure it out.

We also need protection from a stalker, the artists have had a stalker for the last 23 years and he went into the article and added slurs, insults and overtly sabotaged the article yesterday He replaced all of the names with the name of a cheap toy doll made in france in the 60s known for it's cheapness. The stalker has been legally refrained from showing on internet venues as eBay, Etsy, Google, Yahoo such as Flickr and Blogger etc and GoDaddy.com but as wikipedia is new for us, as of yesterday he vandalized our article,...which in a way is okay once since it has further motivated us to interact with wiki experts and editors....we need protection from vandalism and good editing help....for the basics...it's very hard to understand for us. I hope since you wrote you have LGBT interest you'd be interested inhelping us as Mdvanii is a transgressive Queer art form made by a couple of artists who have been together happily for 28 years. Its very delicate issue writing about LBGTQ issues and we don't want to make any offensive, by error, mistakes. I hope to hear from you, this was the only way I figured out how to reach you...there is no contact button on you talk page. It'd be super helpful to talk to me on my talk page as that's the only place I know how to reply.... Kind regards, Alec Jiri Alec jiri (talk) 00:13, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

(replying on user's talk page) Mdvanii (for my reference) CTJF83 chat 01:23, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I have slowly figured out some of the citations and am adding slowly....someone named Alan Poole is saying we are 2too close" to the maker, which is not true,...we just need time to add the info...when do they take this remark of his off....it's really not true. I hope to hear from you thanks, aj Alec jiri (talk) 21:14, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for your help an dsupport. I am deeply grateful. I am sincerely hoping to make the article as perfect and as encyclopedic as possible and to fulfill the criteria of a wikipedia article. I will continue to add citations, but I need to be sure I am doing it correctly....Mr Alan Poole 8 has read FB and other sources, but I would aspire for him to read the actual articles listed (some in French etc)...these are very informative. They do back up the article. I Am realyl happy that we have support and hope it will grow and the article will be guided into the right 2tone", have the right elements and the right neutrality. I have re-read all the COI rules now again,...and understand why I may be considered as such. However, my genuine goal is to make a neutral article, ...even if I may have experise and knowledge of the subject. I have no commercial gain in this, only intelelctual and the desire to do a good article. We are completely willing to cooperate with anyone seriously interested inhelping us achieve this.

I thank you sincerely AJ Alec jiri (talk) 21:48, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

It's not problem, I will help in anyway I can. Did you want just AJ to show up when you type ~~~~, and have it link to your user page? If so I can assist in that. Either way, let me know in any way I can assist you. CTJF83 chat 21:54, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

oh, thank you so much...yes, I'd appreciate help linking to my page because it's getting confusing for me. Also I noticed those who seem against this article are all brand new wiki users, I am sure they are just the few detractors the artists have.It seems they really are infuriated that Mdvanii is on wiki and despite the fact every single sentence is 100% accurate they are trying to make it hard to have the article advance, what does one do when a subject is controversial and from living artists as is this article? She's a very actual subject and very heated feelings emerge even if from only a few people. Most people who know about Mdvanii seem to appreciate her very much but the comments I have read from the brand new wikipedians seem to be much to adament to create trouble with the article.....Alec jiri (talk) 20:33, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Are you typing ~~~~ to sign? What do you want your signature to say? Just AJ and have it link to your user page and then talk page? Like AJ (talk)? Also, I would edit User:Alec jiri and put something on it, you can always delete it right after a save if you don't want anything, just so your userpage link isn't red. Often other users who see red linked user, think the user is new and not contributing positively to Wikipedia (which is certainly not the case for you). Sometimes it is hard to control users vandalizing/messing up the page. If it gets bad, you can always request page protection so new users can't edit it. CTJF83 chat 20:44, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

YOu are a lifesaver, I really appreciate this help.

Can I just have it say something else? I'd like something anonymous because it is clear people are confusing me a bit too much with the authors of the work. WHile it is true I am really qualified to talk about mdvanii, i personally get no reward or financial gain,...my only reward is the actual historic accuracy of the subject (and I do have other subjects not at all related to Mdvanii I wish to share on wiki later)

Also, If I dare ask, can you pleasehelp me get the page protected? Its such a controversial subject we'll just lose time with the few freaky detractors who are jealous of the artists...it's sad, but true, these few people are out for thekill and do not in any wayhave wiki accuracy in the forefront and intheir mind, they just want to trip up the process of mdvanii on wiki, and if I even dare further, it's very anti-gay in my opinion. Even they may or may not be gay, their sabotage comes before the historic reality of the subject it's "biting their noses to spite their faces". Please, if you can help me protect the page, I'd appreciate it...senior and experienced editors are totally welcome but these brand new wiki people who have done nothing sabotaging the page is just a huge waste of everyone's time. Alec jiri (talk) 21:02, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

You can put a lot of things on your user page. Use Wikipedia:User pages as a guideline. As far as protecting the page right now, it wouldn't happen. Pages are only protected by admins as a last resort, and the last disruptive edits to the page happened 3 days ago. If it is only 1 or 2 users disrupting a page, they are blocked before a page protection takes place. If there starts to be several users disrupting a page in a short period of time, that is when an admin while protect the page. CTJF83 chat 21:08, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Okay, I understand...I do hope then it is subsided and over. I have added additional citations needed, and I have added what i believe to be the neutral way of adding the Cocteau logo, I added it as you suggested. It goes directly to a page with full explanations and all the material in visual form. I will try to improve my user page Thank you so much Alec jiri (talk) 21:28, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

I am trying to add this:

It is not working....can one not put Japanese on a citation? It seems to be the url is not working....but when I go to the cite, it works perfectly ont he net.Alec jiri (talk) 22:41, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure about foreign languages in references, can you read it? If so I'd definitely translate it to English. CTJF83 chat 22:43, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
Oh!! You were missing the = after ref name...It works now. CTJF83 chat 22:46, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

I fixed it...I don't know how, but I did. I just added this.

Yes, I can read it. It says this but more refined as it's a Japanese expression:

Artists living in Lausanne, Switzerland, BillyBoy* & BillyBoy * & Lala doll made Midovanyi "Mdvanii". I, the official representative of the world's only doll Mdvanii Sumiko Watanabe have treated the goddess of beauty to this, along with the memories of my introduction. The Portrait of a Goddess - The Mdvanii Collection

I am trying to do a userpage but I simply am having trouble understanding...I have nothing much to say about myself, except i am a mdvanii historian and have access to archives which can do this article. My associate is also a specialist on the work of the artists. We do have a number of other interests which i'd like to use for wiki but right now I can only do this. How did you make your colourful little logo for your name? Alec jiri (talk) 22:51, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

That's a good start for a userpage, you also check out WP:UBX for userboxes, which are popular. Basically <font face="Kristen ITC">[[User:Ctjf83|<span style="color:#ff0000;">C</span><span style="color:#ff6600;">T</span><span style="color:#ffff00;">J</span><span style="color:#009900;">F</span><span style="color:#0000ff;">8</span><span style="color:#6600cc;">3</span> If you want to do something like that, you can fill in your user name in between the colors, or choose different colors, or if you want to spice it up a bit, check out WP:CUSTOMSIG. I'm leaving for a while in a short bit, so won't be able to help you for a while. CTJF83 chat 23:06, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

The "award-winning" sentence has been removed (see Mdvanii tlak page)to which I replied the following;

These are the some of the poems he won prizes for, it is necessary to do your research more specifically. You have to go to the catagories mentioned:

Eric Hoffer Book Award 2008 "Notable Distinction" for "Postcards from Heartthrob Town" in the category of "Memoir."

Potenza 2005 Film Festival: "Short Films and Other Stories"

Video Poetry Award 2005, First Place for the videopoem, "Dance of the Electric Moccasins."

Gival Press First Book Poetry Prize 2000 for "Dervish"

I think is is accurate to say he is an "award-winning" poet

I had added all the appropriate link citations to the actual awards...you removed them. Wozek is considered a gay poet and the fact he won the Gival Award, for example is important in relation to Mdvanii...so Mr Leivick, what is your suggested way to note this? Since Mdvanii is a gay advocate and activist, all her links to gay artists is important, if they have some sort of achievement like an award,, I think it is part of the point of the artwork and the history of the subject. I would appreciate your thoughts on this.

........ so to Ctjf83, my question: IS it relevent that Gerard Wozek has won awards? I believe it is since he is a notable gay poet and that is part of Mdvaniis history. He's not just a "poet" he has won a prestigious award (and other awards) and is a GAY poet....which is why he is sited inthis article to illustrate that poems were written for mdvanii. They are GAY poets....and Wozek won several awards including Gival Award.....so what is the right thing to do?

Alec jiri (talk) 11:46, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Well, saying someone is an "award winning" something, is not something that should be done. It gives WP:UNDUE weight, and is not really WP:NEUTRAL. However, saying Person X has won A, B, and C awards is ok, if they are cited. Prime example (for articles I work on), users adding that The Simpsons is an award winning show in the first sentence of the article. CTJF83 chat 17:02, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

1) I understand, thank you. I think for now, I have to get the article as perfect as possible, the main subject is not the poets.....I do see the point made and appreciate the time you have taken to explain it...as did Mr Leivick.

2) These two citations on the article in italics below: NONE of the citations are misinterpreted, they are just exactly what they are citing......I am sorry but I think putting them up is unduly heavy and I do not see how. There is no original material. I have never written for the fondation or any of the sources whatsoever. The FT site is written by many various people, many articles are written by a committee, and they date from 1997 to 2000 etc etc... I used links to photo images texts about history also. When and how and can this be removed??, I do not see how these two warnings are genuinely appropriate,... if you check every link you'll see it backs up the citation. There is no original research. I have had nothing to do with any citation. This article may contain original research. Please improve it by verifying the claims made and adding references. Statements consisting only of original research may be removed. More details may be available on the talk page. (December 2010) Text document with red question mark.svg This article may contain inappropriate or misinterpreted citations that do not verify the text. Please help improve this article by checking for inaccuracies. (help, talk, get involved!) (December 2010)

3) Also I feel the conversation I had with Orumsonu should be permanently removed from wiki...it's unfair to me, to the real Alec Jiri and to the article....can it be removed? This Orumsonu has a definite bone to pick with this subject and it is clearly personal. I hope I can have some help removing that conversation, it was personally directed to me. What do you think? Its hard enough as it is to do this as correctly as possible and harder when a very unfair communication, unrelated to the article which is a personal assault upon me and others is lingering on the wikipedia ...it's a public unfairness to me I feel and to others.

How do you feel the article is shaping up?...I feel I have really trimmed it back with peacocky terms, and added very neutral info...with citation material which can be verified...I hope I am going in the right direction. I hope you can let me know if I am improving the article? thank you so much in advance for your help.

I still have to figure out some citations....for museum acquisitions and important other documents.

Alec jiri (talk) 01:07, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Jean Cocteau - gay poet/painter on Mdvanii removed from article? sortof afraid to add anything now...

I noticed Mr Leivick removed the fact the logo of Alexandre de Paris, drawn especially for him by Jean Cocteau and which Monsieur Alexandre allowed exceptionally to be used on Mdvanii's box. Maybe it is not really known how famous Cocteau is here in Europe, maybe much less elsewhere, but here he's iconic, a gay artist icon. He did that logo for Alexandre, which already was unusual at the time, and Alexandre in turn allowed the artists to put it on Mdvanii's box,...this was highly unusual as Mr Alexandre never before or since until his death allowed that logo to be put on anything other than his own things. It was a great privilege and as Cocteau was a gay icon always, his placement in a distinguished way ont he box was a honour. Its part of the gay associations Mdvanii has made from the very beginning. Is it possible to convey this without it sounding contrary to Wiki rules of COI? Its a fact and it's on every single box ever made. Which is tens of thousands if not more...

help.

Thank you.

Aj Alec jiri (talk) 22:10, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry? I'm a little confused, are you saying User:Daniel J. Leivick removed an image of the Alexandre de Paris logo? Can you provide me with some links. Like the link of Leivick removing the image, or the link of the image itself please? CTJF83 chat 22:18, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

He removed this phrase: I understand the first part removed, maybe too glamorous though it is commonly known info about Alexandre de Paris, but shouldn't the fact the logo was on the box be somehow mentioned and that Cocteau is a famous gay icon artist? I presumed it was not necessary to mention that he is a gay icon, he's mythic usually to gay artists, but the fact the logo on is on the box is a major precedent and a unique honour he bestowed on the artists. He never did it before or after and then passed away, so it's major info about mdvanii and her gay associations. There is a photo of it on this link:

http://www.fondationtanagra.com/index.cfm?article=20&page=3&cfid=81064&cftoken=53357

The Parisian hairdresser to royalty and stars of European high society allowed his logo, created by artist Jean Cocteau to be used on her box.

He also removed this...should this be a citation? It was the key phrase of her debut:

"BillyBoy* revives the Golden Age of Dolls for the future generations of discerning collectors! Meet Mdvanii, the glamorous fashion doll of the twenty-first century designed by BillyBoy* and created by BillyBoy* Toys. Mdvanii is a blend of old fashioned techniques and quality, with contemporary new age lifestyle."(Mdvanii first edition catalogue, 1989)

What is your opinion and suggestion for these two points?

Thank you so much , AJ

Alec jiri (talk) 22:30, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

First why is there a * after BillyBoy? Is that part of his "name"? Ok, those were probably removed for lack of source and too WP:PEACOCKY. For example "BillyBoy* revives the Golden Age of Dolls for the future generations of discerning collectors!" It should stop at the word generations. "of discerning collectors!" is an opinion and a peacock term, especially the exclamation point. Also "Meet Mdvanii, the glamorous fashion doll", "glamorous" is an opinion, not everyone may think the doll is glamorous. Also above when you say "it is commonly known info about Alexandre de Paris", you need to write it from the point of view of someone reading it who has no knowledge what so ever of the article. I don't at all think it is commonly known, as I've never heard of Alexandre de Paris or Mdvanii. Commonly known things are like New York City is the largest city in the United States, Paris is the capital of France, and such like that. If it isn't as common of knowledge as that, it needs a source. I'm headed out for a bit, so won't respond to any more questions for several hours or until tomorrow, but feel free to ask away! CTJF83 chat 22:39, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

YES,...oh my goodness, yes, the asterisk is a major part of his name! It MUST be everywhere his name appears. BillyBoy* & Lala are comparable to Gilbert and George, Pierres and Gilles etc, long-term gay couple artists. They are always referred to as BillyBoy* & Lala (never "and" plus always with the asterisk).

I see your point. NY is famous...but in our country some cultural things are famous...as in America, the Yankees are famous a baseball team and Jimmy Durante has a famous big nose.....maybe I need to learn from what you said. In France Alexandre is as famous as Joe DiMaggio. You say his name and pretty much a great many people know who he was. Like Dior (for whom he did all the hairdos for example)...Mdvanii is not as famous of course...point taken.

The quote is from the first catalogues and was I thought, an illustration of the concept from the debut. Its explaining what she was first presented as. Hundreds of thousands have been given away. So is it a source or historic document?

Alexandre de Paris did the Beatles hairdos, the all the royalty such as queens, etc of Europe including England, stars like Josephine Baker, Dietrich, Juliet Greco, Francoise Sagan, Brigitte Bardot etc, all the couture shows, and is "in the street" (popular) known by French people....BUT, the logo is by Cocteau. I wanted to add this info as it is a really important aspect of her early history and association with not only artists but gay artists (all the artists nearly who have worked witht he artists BB* & Lala are gay and sometimes even political activists - Lala's brother is Didier Lestrdae founder of Act-Up in France and founder of Magazine and Tetu the first serious gay magazines in France)

Well, do you think the logo is relevent and do the first catalogues count as documentation?

Thank you so much again, have a lovely evening and hope tohear from you when it is possible.

AJ Alec jiri (talk) 22:53, 27 December 2010 (UTC) oops spelling mistake: Didier Lestrade founder of Act-Up in France and founder of Magazine and Tetu the first serious gay magazines in France Alec jiri (talk) 22:55, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

A catalog would probably work as a source, and image information could be added if properly sourced. CTJF83 chat 14:58, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

So, you think I can add the Cocteau logo reference and site the catalgoues as the source? How do i add image information...it's on the website a whole mini.article about him (Alexandre and the logo)Alec jiri (talk) 20:26, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Do you mean add an image of the logo to the page, or just information on it? To source an image or catalog, if they are online, you can just use <ref name=>{{cite web|url=|title=|publisher=|author=|date=|accessdate=}}</ref>. CTJF83 chat 20:30, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

well, what is your opinion?,...adding the image shows exactly the logo of course. The point I feel needed to be made is that Alexandre de Paris, gay hairdresser of great reclaim, had gay iconic artist Jean Cocteau do his logo (which was very unusual and unique at the time) and which very exceptionally, uniquely, Mdvanii has on her boxes and catalogues since the very debut thanks to Mr. Alexandre. Would this sound correct and neutral?

"Alexandre de Paris' did detailed drawings for her hairstyles and his logo, which was created by Jean Cocteau is placed on all Mdvanii boxes and catalogues." ... and then add the link to the image? Alec jiri (talk) 20:41, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

I'm not the best person to ask about images. You can use WP:NFCC as a guideline. CTJF83 chat 20:46, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Is insulting and outing a common thing on wiki?

Just a question. I have been insulted by Orumsonu on the Mdvanii Talk page. Is this a common procedure or phenomenon on wiki? AM I expected to repeatedly discuss myself rather than the article? I have explained who I am but why is it such an issue? I am dedictaed to making the article neutral and encyclopedic, I am discussing with serious people for practical help, I am complying willingly to make this a perfect article, so is it part of wiki to have personal attacks on you on these public pages? I know things are different in the USA, but I am not accustomed to personal attacks on a forum of any sort, so what is the policy and the way to deal with this? Its not something I am familiar with and don't think it's appropriate at all...any help, or suggestions? Clearly this Orumsonu doesn't like or understand Mdvanii and wants to express it....a detractor as I mentioned before. I don't think this is paranoia as he/she says, it's just plain weird and rude to be accused of such when it is far from the truth. This wiki user doesn't seem to want to help the article. Alec jiri (talk) 14:16, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

No, you absolutely do not have to reveal anything about who you are to anyone. I gave the user a warning so if they continue, you can report them to an admin, and they may be blocked. Read WP:OUTING and the rest of the page deals with harassment. Also, these users are clearly trolling you and the page. I recommend ignoring them in most cases, and get on with the work you want to do. If they keep harassing you/disrupting the page or talk page, give them a few (2-3, I usually do the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th ones) warnings, you'll probably use the vandalism and personal attacks, and then report them at WP:ANV. Just be careful, make sure they are clearly vandalizing, or attacking you (or another user) personally, or you might be blocked....Remember, you don't have to reveal anything about yourself and don't feed the trolls. CTJF83 chat 17:13, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Oh, and as far as if it is common to be insulted, ya, it happens, I wouldn't say frequently, but it does happen...it seems especially if you are on LGBT articles, which is expected, just ignore it, warn them, and hopefully they will be blocked. CTJF83 chat 17:15, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for explaining. Its a bit shocking for me to be accused of such a thing by a complete stranger and by someone who clearly is not interested in helping the article or wikipedia in general. I will follow your advice. I do find it a bit shocking though...maybe it is a culture difference. LGBT issues was the main reason I wanted to be involved with this article actually. I had no idea there was opponents to equal human rights issues, even in an indirect way. Alec jiri (talk) 19:21, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

I tried to put a stop to the discussion. I'm not sure what that user was trying to get at. Tofutwitch11 (TALK) 19:32, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

I have absolutely no idea where it was headed and for which and what reasons. When the presumption I was THE Alec Jiri (which is his FIRST NAME ONLY, not a surname which I'd never use) was made yesterday, I corrected it immediately, as I said to Mr Leivick, I had permission from him to use his name as he is the source of my materials for citation and we saw no reason not to credit him. If I made an error using his name, it was out of ignorance, not bad will...besides, it seems that if I was trying to be clever and lie I'd NOT have used his first name....Mdvanii is a hot topic, a controversial LGBT subject in the art world and the detractors seem to have private agendas which I really have a great difficulty understanding. I an expert in Mdvanii and have never really understood the few detractors she and the artists have. She is a positive image of the LGBT person and I perhaps wrongly assume, people are FOR equal human rights, not against them. I am open completely to help with this article and as Ihave repeatedly said, want it to be a perfect encyclopedic wiki article. This is my unique goal. Alec jiri (talk) 19:51, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Ya, I don't for see equal LGBT rights anytime soon, at least in America. But ya, just following my advice on warning, and ignoring the trolls/vandals/detractors, etc, and keep up your great work! As always, feel free to come to me with questions/concerns/help, etc. CTJF83 chat 05:16, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

It's A Trap

No, I was saying about the mass cleanup because almost every article I go to on here has that message about "Unsourced content", leading me to believe that Wiki is really thinking about not allowing any researched content and thus eventually removing a whole mass of articles.LReyome254 (talk) 03:48, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Oh, no, the tag:

means just that section is unsourced, and that sources are needed or that section material may be removed. There won't be a mass :removal of articles...did I explain your question, if not, please be a little more specific. CTJF83 chat 05:12, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
