Idea - addbot edit summary
Would it make sense to add a little more explanation of orphans to the edit summary that addbot uses?
Most recent one I saw was: "Bot: Adding Orphan Tag (Questions) (Report Errors))"
Perhaps something like "Bot: Adding Orphan Tag - no articles link to this page (Questions) (Report Errors))"
Spelling out why the tag was added might help reduce confusion about what the orphan tag means. Of course one can't make editors read the message, but giving them another opportunity at seeing the explanation might reduce the confusion. (Or maybe you tried something like this already.) Thanks. Zodon (talk) 03:27, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hey. Thanks for the message and no I havn't tried this before. The edit summary will now include " (No articles link to this page)" in it. Thanks again for the suggestion and I hope it cuts back the message I keep on getting :) ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 07:33, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Edit to "Elite Home Tutoring LLC" You Made
I just made the page and saw you made an edit to it. What did you change :) If you added I the "needs more inlinks" I agree. I am very new to Wiki. MathTeacher5252 (talk) 07:09, 26 February 2009 (UTC)Eric
- Yes the bot added the orphan tag that reads "This article is orphaned as few or no other articles link to it. Please help introduce links to this subject in articles on topics related to it." It would be brilliant if you could try to get another article that is relavant to link to Elite Home Tutoring LLC. If you need any further help feel free to ask me and I am glad you found the tag useful :) ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 07:45, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Shamrock Rovers players
Why are you adding orphan titles to Billy Dixon, Eamonn Darcy and Brian Tyrell when they already have 3 or more links. That is vandalism.
Secondly no offense but do you not find it a bit sad to be orphaning hundreds of pages? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.198.140.206 (talk) 13:48, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there. The pages that you listed in your message above have not been edited by my bot or myself; one of the articles doesn't even exist. I do not find it "sad" orphaning the pages that my bot does as they are already orphaned just nobody knowns it. The tag is simply making the fact visable. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 15:05, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
You orphaned Billy Dixon (footballer) and Eamonn Darcy (footballer). Turn off your bot then. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.71.4.58 (talk) 17:03, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there, Per Special:WhatLinksHere/Billy_Dixon_(footballer) and Special:WhatLinksHere/Eamonn_Darcy_(footballer) the two articles are orphans, If you read the tag it says "This article is orphaned as few or no other articles link to it.". ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 17:07, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Anf if you read the links you will see that they refer to the two players concerned. NOT orphans if they have 3 or more links. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.71.4.58 (talk) 17:16, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- If you follow this link and this link you can clearly see there are no incoming links from the article(main) name space. The links in the orphan criteria are only links from articles not user pages and other name spaces. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 17:36, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
That makes no sense. There are 3 or more links. Stop vandalising —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.198.140.206 (talk) 15:49, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- The links I am talking about are link to the page NOT from the page. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 19:05, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Orphan tag and bot
Is there a reason you're using a bot to uglifiy hundreds of articles with an orphan tag? Sure, it'd be nice if more articles were linked to each other, but there's no reason to distract readers with a big fat tag like this placed at the top because of relatively minor editorial concerns. It is after all possible to categorize pages without useless big boxes at the top. Can you point to the place at least where you gained community consensus to do this? Regards, Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 11:16, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- Please see Wikipedia:Bots/Requests_for_approval/Addbot_16. I could categorize the pages without adding the tag but the problem then is when other bots or automated programs go around looking for the tag or cat they will probably not notice the cat, add the tag anyway or just generally mess up. The tag contains the cat for this reason. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 11:42, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- No, Addshore, this was not community support. The community did not support you at that request. It was just BAG self-congratulatory garbage. The community continues to not support you and wikiproject orphan. --KP Botany (talk) 13:43, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Incorrect orphan tags
There seems to have been some kind of change in the software under which pages that link via a template no longer show up as linking "here". This makes pages appear to be orphaned (or nearly so) when they are not. For example, at Semlin, Poland, the bot added an orphan tag, even though the article is linked from about 20 other pages via a navbox template. Can you reprogram your bot to allow for this? Thanks,--Kotniski (talk) 11:30, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there, thanks for the message. I have blocked to bot to make sure it does not edit while what you have said above is true, I will try to get this fixed and thanks again for the message! ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 11:40, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- The transclusion {{Gmina Zblewo}} shows up for me at whatlinks. Perhaps it's the API? Addshore, what query do you use? Franamax (talk) 12:12, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- The template certainly shows up. But IIRC, whatlinks used to list all pages on which the template was transcluded (which would give another 20-30 incoming links in this case), but seems not to be doing so at the moment. I'm assuming the bot works from the same list that we humans get at whatlinks. --Kotniski (talk) 12:36, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I've spent all this time up 'til now looking. The API returns exactly what us humans see. There was a mega-rollout a few days ago [1] that broke one or two things. It spanned versions 46425 through 47430 all in one big shot. Looking at the commit reasons, I don't see anything relevant though. We're now up to r47457 and I've seen some weird overlapping of templates, so I'm suspicious atm. But I'm also tired - so manana! Franamax (talk) 13:11, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

- Please see Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical)#Whatlinkshere. As I can not really find all of the templates that the bot would / could edit I am going to disable the bot for about a week. Hopfully most of the articles should then have a correct whatlinkshere page. Thanks again for the report! ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 19:08, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry I didn't reply sooner. There's isn't much I can do, though - the scripts are fine, but the data is bad. Here's a quote from User:R'n'B over at the disambiguation project:
- User:Tim Starling fixed a big bug in job queue code last week. Links to templates should be refreshed automatically now, although any jobs that were in the queue before the fix have probably been deleted.
- If that's true, then there's a window of time where templates were edited, but the pages that transclude those templates were not (and apparently never will be) null edited to update WhatLinksHere among other things. --JaGatalk 07:58, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

- I could always get my bot to run through the list first making null edits to all of the pages and then start the orphan tagging again. This should hopfully catch all the deleted jobs. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 09:57, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I've been lobbying to get orphan tags removed from all but zero-link orphans. What would you think about changing "as few or no other articles" in the template to "as no other articles"? --JaGatalk 06:39, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Rajagopal Phd FRSA-Orphan Tag
This page has often been tagged as Orphan despite several Wikipedia links and references. Information in this page has been posted for research scholars in marketing and wider academic community which can benefit by the scholarly works of Dr Rajagopal. I wonder why this article is often tagged as orphan? If this is explained, further improvements can be done. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.146.140.44 (talk) 21:57, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there. The orphan tag is not added due to a lack of links on the page. An orphan is an article that has no incomming links from other articles, please see Special:WhatLinksHere/Rajagopal,_PhD,_FRSA, none of the pages that link to the page are artiles. To get the tag removed simply link to Rajagopal,_PhD,_FRSA from another page on wikipedia. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 22:01, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

problem with editing Orphan page - is edit protected!
Hi I hope you can help me. The article Sophia Bekele just got an Orphan flag, whcih I belive is a result of delinked articles from online journals. I went ahead and added some more new links to other area. However, I need the reference areas to be unprotected in order to link refernces or redirects etc... Can you help? Thank you. - Hi there. If you read Wikipedia:Orphan it says "An Orphaned article could be defined as an article which has less than 3 links from some other article. Links from disambiguation pages, list articles, and redirection pages don't count" Just one link from a normal article and the tag will no longer be automaicly added. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 07:32, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- It has been linked from this page since the article was created. Thanks! --JonBroxton (talk) 16:45, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
You keep adding the orphan tag to this article - I have now re-instated all the links which were lost after a rather strange page move. Can you now remove the "Orphan" tag permanently. Thanks. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 16:34, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there, as the article now has incoming article links the article will not be tagged by the bot again. The bot will remove the tag on its next scan. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 19:14, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
"No articles link to this page" nope, two do, stop the bot. Oh, and don't tell me about a three drink minimum, your bot's edit summary says "no" which equals zero. Also, human editors have removed it, and there is no policy saying what is/is not the correct number for an article to be deemed an orphan, thus a bot should not be re-adding once a human editor has removed the tag after adding link(s). Which, per the BOT policy where it says "performs only tasks for which there is consensus" it would seem this bot fails that and needs to be shut down, going by the talk page here. Aboutmovies (talk) 20:17, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there, I have stopped the bot from editing as it appears there is a bug in the list, From what I can tell this may be due to a change in the wiki toolserver hardware which has somehow affected it. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 07:33, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
NYC Department of Education Regions
New York City DOE Region 2 etc up to 10 are intentionally orphaned. They were short-lived administrative units. I'd like to remove the orphan tags, but can you adjust the bot so that it doesn't re-add them? Jd2718 (talk) 17:28, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there, All pages that titles match
New( |_)York( |_)City( |_)DOE( |_)Region( |_)[0-9]?[0-9]
will now be skipped. Thanks for the message and int he future if policys and other things change they may be re tagged. feel free to remove the tags your self and if they do get re added please re message me. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 20:35, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
- I was trying to figure out why these articles should exist as anything except redirects, and if they should exist as articles, the rationalle for not calling them orphans. However in the process I found that there was an AFD with consensus to merge those articles. So they are all merged into New York City DOE Regions, which now has a link to it. Zodon (talk) 20:15, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- Guess I will remove the regex :). Thanks for that Zodon. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 07:37, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
Addbot repeat tagging: Calocalanus pavo
I noticed the article Calocalanus pavo being tagged as an orphan this morning [2], and, after cleaning the article up, created an article for the species' family, Paracalanidae, which I made sure linked to Calocalanus pavo, thus preventing it being an orphan. I therefore removed the orphan tag [3]; 75 minutes later, Addbot re-added the tag [4], even though by this point, the article was not strictly an orphan. I guess Addbot must be working from (slightly) out of date information in such cases, but perhaps it could double check before re-adding a tag. I imagine that in general, when the tag has been removed, it is because it ought (in at least one person's opinion) not to be there. --Stemonitis (talk) 22:01, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there it turns out that the wikipedia toolservers are now using a different database and the scripts that recreate the lists that my bot uses seem to cause replication lag on the databases and get killed before they can referesh the lists. Too many power-happy editors here!
I have had my pages for "ewen chia" and "mike filsaime" deleted by someone I feel is just power happy and isn't familiar with the industry I write about. Just because someone isn't familiar with something doesn't mean that it is insignificant. The editor is Andyjsmith. Just look at his talk page to see our discussion. I think this is ridiculous. Is there anything that anyone can do to stop this madness? I could easily go around deleting things just because it is not important to me, but I don't want to be a jerk. Thanks for your time.

I see you added {{BadFormat}} to File:Iberian-Guanche inscriptions.pdf. It was deleted for a permissions problem, however tagging this file appears to be incorrect as it can not be converted to text. It could be converted to w:.djvu, however PDFs for scans are very appropriate. John Vandenberg (chat) 23:24, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Message tweak.
We've made some changes, so here's an updated message.
This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.
If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use thedisplay=none
parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Very Very complex history merge! (Possible?)
List of Pixar awards and nominations was split to List of Pixar awards and nominations (feature films) and List of Pixar awards and nominations (short films). The original list is still intact but holds only some awads categories. First request: merging the histories to each list. Further more, List of WALL-E awards and nominations was split from List of Pixar awards and nominations (feature films). Second request: merging the history from List of Pixar awards and nominations (feature films) and User:Diaa abdelmoneim/WALL-E to List of WALL-E awards and nominations. Big mess.
Is this even possible? --Diaa abdelmoneim (talk) 15:02, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Addbot
Hi
Is there a way to get your bot to ignore a page? Like with using {{nobots}}
on it?
Cheers, Amalthea 11:25, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
- The bot uses the cluebot classes so it should ignore nobots already. Should ignore pages with
{{nobots}}
and that template with the param to ignore Addbot. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 16:33, 16 March 2009 (UTC)- Well, it didn't. :) (Sorry, should have given you the links right away of course).
Looking at it again, I notice that on a different page Addbot actually placed{{nobots}}
one second before it retargeted the same page - that one might be a concurrency issue?
The pages serve as an example for WP:VPR and intentionally show a redirect loop test1 → test2 → test3 → test2 which had three bots so far thoroughly confused. A quite unintended honeypot. :)
I can unprotect the pages again to see if Addbot makes another appearance.
Cheers, Amalthea 17:18, 16 March 2009 (UTC)- I am guessing it is the loop that is confusing the bot in this case :P. Also The wikibot clases are only uses by the php bots, the double redirect bit of the bot and the reference section part are python and do not use these classes and do not ignore pages with nobots. I should have relised this earlier. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 17:11, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. Maybe you'll get around making the python bots respect
{{nobots}}
at some point.
Also, FWIW, double redirects currently do work, and will hopefully continue to do so, provided bugzilla:17888 is implemented quickly, so there's not much reason for a bot fixing them at the moment.
Cheers, Amalthea 17:50, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Possible bot malfunction
Hi, your bot may be malfunctioning. It attempted to post a message on a redirect. Whilst this is not a big problem in itself, it could lead to some projects not receiving messages, as no message was posted on the target of the redirect. --GW… 10:39, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
- Another example [7]. Zodon (talk) 18:07, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
- I was given an exact list of the wiki project talk pages to send the message to, If requested I will try to run the bot again but following redirects. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 16:43, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yes rerunning it so it follows redirects would be nice. Just make sure it doesn't double post the same project.Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβς – WP Physics} 04:27, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
- I added a little comment in the message that the bot looks for the make sure it doesnt post the message twice, I wont be able to run the next sweep looking for redirects for a while but I will try to get around to it asap. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 17:08, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Where is the page
Today your bot dropped several notices on WikiProject talk pages. I was able to find the Ireland WikiProject alerts at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ireland/Article alerts but, despite your post, the Philately WikiProject alerts page is nowhere to be found. It is not at Wikipedia:WikiProject Philately/Article alerts where I expected to find it. Was it not created, do we need to create an empty page first, of did the bot just fail? Please reply at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Philately. Thanks ww2censor (talk) 01:59, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Quick note
Regarding the Article alerts notice, I understand you are substituting a template from somewhere when posting? Well, looks someone accidentally posted a thank-you note right on the template page, instead of in response to the message on their own WikiProject talk, so the message got copied multiple times along with the notice. Here's an example (see at the bottom). Just thought you'd want to have it fixed before re-using the notice in the future :) I'd fix it myself, but I'm too lazy to track where the original template is located. Can you explain what more can be done to a stub? I have explained that "links have been added, fact is - it is a stub". Do extrapolate as to how much more can be done with this article. For a 3 sentence stub, this article has 8 links. Why do you insist on tagging it as an orphan?
According to Wikipedia:Orphan rules:
"Once the article has three or more links that fit the criteria, remove the
tag, if one is present."
According to wiki, you are tagging this for no reason (IMO). Awaiting your reply. Milliot (talk) 01:18, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- I linked the mention of Charles Claude Husson on the Joseph Arthur Vigneron page, now when you click on 'What links here' you will see that one page links to your article (which is what the orphan bit is all about). If you want to add more incoming links, how about linking it on the Joseph Alfred Lamy page. Mikenorton (talk) 16:14, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Bit of help please
Hi,
I have noticed that the article "Kaspersky Lab" is being vandalised by one troll creating multiple accounts. His latest account is claiming to be "eugene kaspersky": http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/User:EugeneKaspersky and he claims he is a wikipedia administrator on his talk page, plus has put a phoney "protected" template on the Kaspersky Lab article. I reverted the edit (500th time this week) but the image they are using to troll with is still uploaded to wikipedia: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/File:Kaspersky.jpg and they are contintinuing to pretend to be admins and vandalise that article. (The image is added and a fake section is created claiming it is a Kaspersky context menu when it is obviously a troll photoshop).
Is it safe for me to remove the "edit protected" template (as it was falsely placed there) and can someone deal with the admin impostor, and perhaps let me know how to respond more effectively to the constant barrage of vandalism?
Thanks :) Jamshud (talk) 02:12, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Also, adoption possible?
I kind of need a mentor to show me the wiki ropes!
Jamshud (talk) 02:19, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there. Unfortunatly I currently have no time to adopt anyone, I wish you like in finding someone else. If the page has a protected template but is not acctually protected then yes feel free to remove it. The admin stuff User:EugeneKaspersky added to his page has now been removed. The image will probably be remove soon, when someone gets a round to it. I will keep an eye on the users involved and the page you mentioned. Thanks for the message and if I can help you any more feel free to ask. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 10:23, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for replying :)
Article was recently put on semi-protection for WP:OWN as reason which has now expired, however the troll is now back as per the "IMMMMMM BACCCKKKKKK" message left on history page: http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Kaspersky_Lab&action=history and is continuing to vandalise the page with that photoshopped context menu thing (which was deleted but they reupped). Also, is there a procedure for getting links blocked from being added into wikipedia pages? I ask because they are adding a link to pirated material whenever they vanalise the article ("free kaspersky keys" on some blogspot blog, and it isn't free software)
TIA for any reply! Jamshud (talk) 21:19, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there, and sorry for my late reply. the page is now protected so that only sysops can edit it and move it. This should shtop the vandalism for now. The protection expires 09:24, 11 April 2009. I suggest you keep your eye on the page :) ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 22:10, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

- I'm afraid that won't happen. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia. Topics have articles here if they are already notable, not to make them notable. If you want you can have at our inclusion guideline for web content, which describes that a topic must have recived significant coverage in reliable third-party sources (e.g. newspapers) to have an article here. --Amalthea 20:41, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Banaticus' Adoption
Vandalism 1.2
Basically, I mainly used Huggle. Here are five edits -- I linked their full name, as apparently Wikipedia internally registers Sandman (Marvel Comics)?diff=281994239 as the actual title of a page, rather than a link to an edit.
- [8] The name of the character was changed to Queer Man from Sandman. I don't read comics, so I don't know what Sandman's sexual persuasion is. But since I don't regularly read comics and have no idea what Sandman's sexuality is really like, although I presumed that the change was blatent nonsense, I reverted it as a bias problem, violating Wikipedia's objective point of view.
- [9] User added the phrase, "This is the most pointless thing you will ever lear about" and I reverted it as vandalism (even though I somewhat agree with the sentiment). ;)
- [10] User changed [http://www.envirolink.org EnviroLink Network] to [http://www.greenforum.com EnviroLink Network]. While greenforum.com does appear (when I checked them out to see if the link was legit) to be "A non-profit clearinghouse of environmental news and information" as the link attests on the page, it still appeared to be a link to the EnviroLink Network (and, when I checked out the original envirolink link, there was no information on the page that suggested that they might be moving to a different website). I reverted it as spam.
- [11] This was a somewhat difficult one. The user had added the word "flamboyantly" to the phrase "Independent media sources reporting Cooper is gay include:". The phrase is the reference for a statement made earlier in the article. In its proper context, that section reads, "His public reticence contrasts deliberately with his mother's life spent in the spotlight of tabloid journalists and her publication of memoirs explicitly detailing her affairs with celebrities; Cooper vowed "not to repeat that strategy".[7][8][9] Independent news media have reported that Cooper is gay,[note 1] and in May 2007, Out magazine ranked him second behind David Geffen in their list of the fifty "Most Powerful Gay Men and Women in America."[10] Cooper has discussed his desire to have a family and children." The phrase in question is the title of "note 1". I thought that "flamboyantly" was perhaps against Wikipedia's objective POV, that it perhaps did more than simply comment on what we perceive the truth to be based on independant sources. But, it could be true, I don't know and frankly I don't care. So I reverted it as "unsourced/poorly sourced negative or controversial biographical material".
- [12] User added a poor poem about a friend -- reverted as vandalism. Banaticus (talk) 06:04, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- Yep all of these examples look fine and all have super explanations :) That counts as a pass :) ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 06:24, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Spongebob Problem
I was browsing wikipedia to find out when the episode "Sand Castles in the Sand" would come out. I heard it was an intresting episode so I decided to look it up. While I did, I think I may have found some vandalism. Click Here to see it. It's down a few episodes (episode 125). It talks about Nat Wolf, another Nickelodeon Character which has no relevence to Spongebob what so ever. If you could please find out who did it and suspend them or something. i-am-entertainU (talk) 16:38, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there, The last time i can see stuff about "Nat" added is in this edit. which is acctually reverting other vandalism. Uncategorized articles
Heya Addshore, I was wondering if you've any plans to fire up the bot for tagging uncategorized articles again. I've been doing the tagging manually, but I can't keep up with the categorizers. It's a very active project and I'd hate to see its participants lose interest due to lack of available work. --JaGatalk 09:15, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry all of my bots are currently dead due to issues and I dont have enough time due to exams to get them back up again. Maybe in about 2 months after my exams :). Remind me then? :P ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 18:49, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- No worries! Good luck on your exams! --JaGatalk 21:22, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
Article orphaned no more
Your bot correctly tagged the article California breweries as an orphan, however, I have subsequently added links to numerous articles, thus making that tag now irrelevant. My question is, is it proper for me to remove that tag myself, or should I wait for the Bot to detect the article is no longer an orphan. In the event of the former, what is the minimum number of links to articles than a given article must have, in order to escape orphan status? Thanks. KevinOKeeffe (talk) 10:19, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
- Yep, it is perfectly correct for you or anyone else to remove the orphan tag. You may currently remove the tag if it has one link from an article going to it. Please see WP:ORPHAN and the pages that link from that though.·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 18:56, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Bothelp
As one of the active editors in cleaning out Category:Wikipedia pages with broken references I can tell you we need some bothelp this time. I am only talking about templates, which at this moment constitute about 99% of the pages in that category. Please have a look here, and tell me if you can help out. I'll wait for your answer here.
n.b. Please note that the most fitting text for the needed fix is in that same section too (and that the <noinclude> tag should be straight behind the end of the template, on the same line even). Debresser (talk) 19:07, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there. Sorry I am currently to busy with exams to be able to do this. If you leave me a message again in July if no one has done this I am sure i can throw something up. Thanks for asking and sorry i cant help. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 19:09, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Wireless Gigabit Alliance
This article is about a company that is advancing comunications technology. Just as Intel is advancing computer technology. Before deleting an article a person should atleast study the subject first. It is mean spirited to delete an article about an important subject even if the article is not fully in complience with all of wikipedias rules. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gjeremy (talk • contribs) 11:51, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I have the required 3 links required by Wikepedia orphan hunters. Please let me know if this works.

- Hi there, If the article has the 3 required links then the orphan tag can be removed by you or by another editor. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 13:10, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling
Hey, this MDhoogheM, I have been away a while and now suddenly noticed that the article I was working on "Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling" has been deleted because it seems to be a promotion. This has not been my purpose, I think he is a remarceble man, worthed to have his own article in your encyclopedia. Since your media is new to me, it might happen that I didn't do everything correctly, but please give me another chance. Could you please help me to get the work I did until now back? This would be wonderfull. Meanwhile I did find another book about him and would love to renew the page with more profound information about his live, and will be happy to overview all content so it doesn't seems to be promotiom. Thanks!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by MDhoogheM (talk • contribs) 06:03, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there, Sorry for such a delay, I suggest you talk to the admin that deleted the article (ALexF) Thanks and sorry I couldn't help you more. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 13:12, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
Orphan template rules
Your bot left an orphan template on [Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon Hall of Fame] but I think that all the reasonable places for a link to this article have been used.
What rules determine when an orphan template is justified?
Beyond that, what happens if an editor removes the orphan template?
Oh, answer after you are finished with exams.
DThomsen8 (talk) 14:18, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- Depending on the date of tagging it will be if the page has 3 or less or no links from articles not including lists and disambiguations. Sorry for my slow reply. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 13:14, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
- Sometimes there is a template that lets me see the links to the article, but I suspect that there is a tool or mechanism I can use anytime. I follow you in guessing that having four links, not counting disambiguation pages, is more than sufficient to remove an orphans template. Also, being an orphan may not justify deletion. --DThomsen8 (talk) 13:43, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
Need an article I wrote userfied.
Can you send me a copy of the article I wrote for "StollerUSA". I realized after it was deleted that this article would make more sense on Wikicompany, so if you can send me the article, then I won't have to recreate the article.
Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lizheck (talk • contribs) 14:49, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

I have this on my user page and I think it could improve your user page if you had one similer to mine. Because of the number of edits you have maybe you should create a seperate page and link it to your user page. Please make comments about how I could improve my user page. The ACC tool.
Hi there, I've received a message on my talk page here informing me that I've had my access to the ACC tool revoked due to a number of inappropriate closures I made, particularly with regard to similar usernames. As suggested, I've had a reread through of the guide, and have realised that these mistakes were due to a misunderstanding on my part of the extra powers I have thanks to my accountcreator status, and a small misunderstanding of the process itself. Having reread the guide I feel that I'll be able to correct these mistakes in future, and, in addition to an apology to all the users of the tool for my past misclosures, I'd like to request I be readded to the list of ACC tool users. Many thanks in advance, whichever way you decide! :-) Colds7ream (talk) 20:23, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
- Never mind, FunPika has restored my access - sorry for the irrelevant message! :-) Colds7ream (talk) 22:24, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
