Should we have "billionaire" in the article lead?

MichelinDiode in their edit summary states "Billionaire violates WP:LEAD guidelines. It should not be in the lead".

However, virtually every result on the first page of results in a simple internet search of her name brings up "billionaire" and/or "billion". Several 2019 articles state that she is the world's richest self-made woman. For example, ‘China Property Queen’ Wu Yajun is the Richest Self-Made Female Billionaire and Oprah, Kylie Jenner And The Other Richest Self-Made Women In the World.

Alas, the lead is a bit of a mess, and most of it is either out-of-date, or should be elsewhere in the article. Here is my proposed replacement. Anything not already in the article will be added to the body, avoiding citations in the lead, as per WP:LEAD.

" Wu Yajun (Chinese: 吴亚军; born 1964) is a Chinese billionaire businesswoman, and the world's richest self-made woman. She is the co-founder, chairwoman, and former CEO of Longfor Properties. From humble origins, she worked as a journalist and editor before moving into real estate in the 1990s, later investing in technology companies including Uber and Evernote. As of October 2019, Wu has an estimated net worth of US$11.2 billion. "

Don't put words in my mouth, I never said it "violated" WP:LEAD but since when did "billionaire" constitute MOS:OPENPARABIO guidelines? By Edwardx's standards, should one add "millionaire" in the introductory paragraph for every wealthy pro-athlete and entertainer that is on Wikipedia? I guess one should list the status of "billionaire" in the introductory paragraph for every wealthy businessman that is notable on Wikipedia as well. MichelinDiode, please have a look at the page history for the article. Your edit summary in full was "Billionaire violates WP:LEAD guidelines. It should not be in the lead". If "billionaire" or someone's net worth being "x billion" is mentioned in an article body text or its infobox (and cited with a reliable source), then we should have it in the lead. Billionaire is a neutral term and objectively measurable, and there are less than 3,000 such living people globally. If we are looking for a word to qualify someone's significance in the world of business or to demonstrate notability, then "billionaire" is more neutral than words such as "magnate", "investor", "oligarch" or "successful". Billionaire is widely used in reliable sources to describe such people, and as an encyclopaedia, we should be seeking to summarise those sources. Edwardx (talk) 11:11, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
