Merge

[edit]

Shouldn't this be mereged, or at least referenced with "click here for full article"... with the article on sportbikes? And the article titled crotch rocket (which itself should probably be merged into sportbikes). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bri (talkcontribs) 19:28, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious Reference

[edit]

The sole reference given or this page is a dubious one indeed. The about.com page referred to makes a reference to India as a region, instead of as a nation. The region is Asia, or if only India is intended then it would be proper to refer to the territory of India. I've informed about.com or rather tried to, about many of the errors on some of their web pages. They don't respond. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Flatshooter (talkcontribs) 13:00, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Motorbikes and Scooters - Not the same

[edit]

For the most part, I would think motorbikes and scooters are fully, - separate things. If you ride a scooter, you don't call it a motorbike. Certainly people who ride bikes don't call them scooters. Generally, for clarification, if you see sales listing in papers, they will say motorbikes and scooters, or in e bay's case, they both have separate listings. Technically, they are quite different machines. I would say, in both common usage, and technically, a scooter and a Motorbike is a separate creature and they aren't synonomous. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deathlibrarian (talkcontribs) 08:18, 27 February 2021

Recommendations to improve the article

[edit]

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. After carefully analyzing this article, I believe it would be more appropriate not to confine motorcycle classification to just six types. It would be preferable to begin the initial text by mentioning motorcycle types in a general manner, without establishing a restrictive classification such as "there are only six types" or "some say there are seven." It's important to note that depending on the source consulted, there may be different classification schemes that include or exclude certain models as types of motorcycles.

Here are the points I consider relevant:

  • Regarding the six-type classification, I notice that most of the sources supporting this claim are aimed at the American audience, disregarding other viewpoints that may be equally valid in other countries. This focus on the American market appears to be the most prominent aspect of the article.
  • Despite mentioning the existence of other classification schemes, they are not explored in depth, and priority is given to the data from the previous point.

It is essential to consider that new types of motorcycles may emerge in the future, which should not be confined to a list of just six types. I appreciate your attention and hope that these recommendations are taken into account. I am willing to collaborate on any necessary aspect. Thank you! Muscle bike

[edit]

Surely "Muscle Bike" should be the category for the Ducati Diavel, and the heading "Power cruiser" modified accordingly?! Arrivisto (talk) 10:30, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
