Conservative?
[edit]Besides some people saying so, I haven't seen any actual social conservatism from their articles. Can someone provide me with an article of theirs that isn't indistinguishable from a WAPO or NYT article in terms of perspective and agenda? 2600:1003:B05A:A35A:9CF:95:13C6:DAED (talk) 17:14, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
- I would support removing the label of conservative from the leading sentence. The website also does not label itself as conservative, but rather describes itself as
without partisan loyalties or tribal prejudices.
We put country over party.
We know that we’re all in this together.- The sources supporting the label are mostly from when The Bulwark was founded. It might have been a fair expectation, but I do not think it has turned out that way. Many of the contributors are former Republicans, of course. That would support a label of something like "associated with the Never Trump movement" (which that article indicates is associated largely with former Republicans). But there is a contrast between The Bulwark and, say, The Dispatch, in that the latter seems to espouse conservatism (while usually being critical of Trump and Trump-supporting Republicans) whereas the former is more indifferent about whether its criticism is from left or right. - I agree. The Bulwark was founded by never-Trump conservatives (Sarah Longwell, Charlie Sykes and Bill Kristol are undoubtedly conservative), but as far as I can tell, the content is not explicitly conservative, and they explicitly claim to provide a home for the pro-democracy center right and center left. And more recently this is also reflected in hiring decisions. William Saletan for instance is a writer at The Bulwark and he's probably best described as center left. - WP:V supersedes editors' interpretations of how their articles read and their hiring decisions, which is WP:OR. The Bulwark was founded in December 2018. We already have 1 article cited from October 2019 and 1 from February 2021 supporting the "conservative" label. Here are RS that call the Bulwark "conservative" well past their founding- February 2021, May 2021, October 2022, March 2023 KiharaNoukan (talk) 06:52, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
