User:64.169.154.71 has turned the date and year of birth into links. I have removed these links, on the grounds that they do not add anything.

Specifically:

  • What is the point of linking to August 3? That is just a date! I know that plenty of pages do link to it, but why? For major events and anniversaries, perhaps, but why link any random person's birthday? (Also, there is a list of birthdays on that page, but it's not automatic, so just adding the link to this page does not add a reverse link to the date page. )
  • The same applies for the year - except that the page is already in the category [[Category:1963 births]], which does cause an automatic back-link. So what's the point of linking to 1963?

Linking of full years is a standard on wikipedia, and an article cannot be promoted to Featured Article unless those dates are wikilined. Karanacs 20:19, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Biography

[edit]

Quiverdisc has just made a number of edits to TA's biography. A few of the changes disagree with information in the book Bradford's Own (reference in the main article). In particular, according to Bradford's Own:

  • She worked as a clerk at Bradford Magistrates' Court, not Leeds.
  • It was while she was working as a clerk that she joined Dignity, not earlier.
  • It was in 1996 she stopped recording, not 1997.

Of course, these may be wrong, but since they are in print, the details that disagree should be supported by explicit references. ColinFine 23:07, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quiverdisc is Tasmin Archer. Amendments made by Quiverdisc are therefore 100% accurate. Quiverdisc 13:19, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Soul?

[edit]

Just because Tasmin Archer is black, that does not automatically make her a soul singer. Nor is she "known for her soulful voice". I adore Ms. Archer and think she is hugely talented, but Aretha Franklin she aint. 79.65.112.77 13:01, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sleeping Satellite as a tragic love song

[edit]

Aclark147 (talk) 09:54, 9 April 2010 (UTC) I have recently corrected the reference to Tasmin Archer's song Sleeping Satellite, on both the Tasmin Archer page and the Sleeping Satellite page on Wikipedia. The song is about a failed relationship, not the failure of the space race. The space race is an analogy which provides the metaphors or imagery for lost romance that the song attempts to conjure up. The "evidence" for this are in the lyrics of the song itself.[reply]

And that is precisely what original research means. Sentence removed from article. -68.185.201.26 (talk) 02:19, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How to post an image of Tasman Archer on her page

[edit]

I noticed that the page for Tasman Archer who is a musician and the author of sleeping satellite does not have an image of her . How can I add an image and do I need to get a license for the image if I get it off of the internet somewhere ? Donander (talk) 06:19, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
