Moved to mainspace by Launchballer (talk). Self-nominated at 11:57, 1 February 2024 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Tasha Ghouri; consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.[reply]

  • The article is new enough and long enough. I didn't detect any close paraphrasing, and the hooks are all cited inline and verified. I note the nominator's preference for ALT1, but given it seems more niche compared to the other hooks (Countdown, which I've never heard of before, may not be recognizable to non-UK or non-European readers), my preference is any of the other hooks. I do note that ALT3 is slightly inaccurate: the article and source say that Camilla was a participant in Ghouri's class, not that Ghouri directly taught her how to dance, so if we go with ALT3, a minor revision may be necessary. The reason why I am not approving this yet, hence the question mark icon, is I wonder if additional hooks could be proposed here regarding Ghouri's deafness and her recoding videos with her "deaf" voice getting praise. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 01:54, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was just about to propose "that Queen Camilla once took part in a dance class by Tasha Ghouri", before actually googling "tasha ghouri camilla", and it turns out she simply observed it as opposed to taking part, and given that watching Strictly is probably enough of a clue I'm minded to look elsewhere for hooks.
ALT4: ... that the Love Island 8 contestant Tasha Ghouri went viral in early 2024 after uploading a Get Ready With Me video to TikTok using her "deaf accent"? (Source says 'recently', actual video was January 2024.)--Launchballer 06:12, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Since Get Ready With Me doesn't have an article and other readers may not be familiar with it without looking it up (I had never heard of the trend before, but that could just me not being into TikTok), maybe an ALT4a with that mention removed could also work? It doesn't seem essential to the fact. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 22:40, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Get Ready With Me is clearly notable, so I could write an article about it. ALT4a: ... that the Love Island 8 contestant Tasha Ghouri went viral in early 2024 after uploading a video to TikTok using her "deaf accent"?--Launchballer 22:57, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Lots of copy tweaks to make, but a really solid start. Two minor source things to fix as well. Ping me when done. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 19:33, 21 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know? If you fancy doing so, I always have plenty of GA nominees to review. Just look for the all-uppercase titles in the Television section. Reviews always appreciated.

Copy changes

[edit]

Lead

[edit]
  • Titles of podcasts should be italicized. (There are three in the article, one in the lead and two further down, that need to be italicized.)
Fixed.

Life and career

[edit]
  • She was born deaf, and was initially fitted for hearing aids, before being given a single cochlear implant at Bradford Royal Infirmary just before her fifth birthday which lasted until she was sixteen and went unreplaced for five months; she later underwent speech therapy, and was unable to speak until she was five, having communicated entirely in British Sign Language until that point. What a sentence! Split this, possibly into three. Also watch for WP:CINS; I see it a few places here and in the rest of the article and will point it out.
Split into three.
  • Ghouri took up ballet aged three, and would copy the choreography of her parents' copy of the Steps album
    • CINS (remove comma)
Fixed.
    • "Copy the choreography of her parents' copy"... Woof. Consider rewording.
For now, changed the second 'copy' to 'edition'. I'll take another look in the morning.
On second thoughts, I don't think the second 'copy' is the problem, so changed it back and changed the first to 'replicate'.

  • "she weren't"? Try a [wasn't] in brackets depending on context from the original quote.
Changed to 'she was not', thereby taking the quote out.

  • She later became an ambassador for Ann Summers, for whom she featured in their Christmas advert and fronted their Luminescent collection, Sisters & Seekers, a Llay-based fashion label, and Lullabellz, a Manchester-based hair extension brand. This list is in bad need of semicolons because its list entries contain commas. Sourcing and spot checks

[edit]
  • Is there a better source than The Media Eye, a PR firm, for the LullaBellz item?
I would have said this was fine as it was being used only for what Lullabellz was (the actual BLP bit of her being involved used a different source), but replaced with The Manc.
  • 14: I initially missed this because I didn't realize that the name I was looking for was "Sense". checkY
  • 21: But within hours of recoupling it was clear Andrew still had feelings for his former partner, Tasha Ghouri, and he quickly cooled things off with Coco, checkY
  • 32: Ghouri revealed her new role as the marketplace’s “pre-loved ambassador” in a post to Instagram. Partial verification: it is not said that she is the first for them, just that she is one. checkY
Replaced with Grazia.
  • 42: Scarlett Moffatt and Stacey Solomon featured as team captains, while guests of the most recent season included Katherine Ryan, Big Brother presenter Will Best, EastEnders' Danielle Harold, Love Island's Tasha Ghouri, and Emmerdale's Danny Miller. checkY
