@Nickiaccess: What your source for the sales figures and chart entries? —C.Fred (talk) 01:54, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

Riaa is the source for sales figures and billboard chart history is the source for her hot 100 entries Thulani Rams (talk) 16:27, 4 November 2019 (UTC)

Missing films

While it is not a film, Nikki also voiced Sugilite on Steven Universe. I feel like this should be credited somewhere on her page KitKat930 (talk) 06:28, 27 November 2019 (UTC)

It would be best to change the photo of Nicki Minaj at the 2010 MTV awards to a more current photo because she does not associate herself with who she was back then. That photo is nearly a decade old and it would be best to have it changed promptly. L6kee (talk) 03:33, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

Not done: The image use policy is quite strict about the copyright status and licensing of images used in articles. The only other clear image that we currently have is form 2012, so its not much of an improvement. If you know of an image that you feel is more representative and fulfills the terms of the policy, please suggest it. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 04:24, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

Tekashi is Not an Associated Act

Ariana Young Money Drake and Lil Wayne have collaborated with her like a few dozen times. Starting from Bang Bang her and Grande teamed up five times.

But out of all of these associated act Tekashi only collaborated with her twice in MAMA and FEFE from the former's Dummy Boy long player. Three or more songs must qualify him as one of them.

So that means he should be deleted from that field. Yes Eminem teamed up with her once as well.

End of story,

Can her image be updated? There are recent professional photos that can be used like her recent ones from behind the scenes of Rupaul’s Drag Race television show in which she was a judge for one episode. Thank you. Leighbayley (talk) 07:43, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

Citizenship, yet again

As I wrote in March 2019

I hate to bring this issue up again, but what evidence is there that that she is a US citizen? I found myself wondering, and while I can find her saying she entered the US an an "illegal immigrant",[1] and that (in 2012) she wasn't registered to vote and "Minaj may not even be a US citizen"[2] I can't find anything that says she is a US citizen at all. And while the message conveyed by the hashtag is ambiguous, #TaxPayerButIcantVote implies that she isn't a US citizen. (Of course, it may just be a statement of solidarity with "resident aliens".) We know she's a TT citizen by birth. Saying that she isn't one still, or that she is an American, seems like a violation of SYNTH.

I haven't seen any new sources that demonstrate otherwise. This is a BLP, we have an obligation to get it right. Guettarda (talk) 03:19, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

MTE. The lead should only say Trinidadian. Cornerstonepicker (talk) 23:28, 28 March 2020 (UTC)

Frankly, though she isn’t registered to vote (yet endorsed Cuomo last year oddly), she could very well be lying as she does about many things. For someone who has toured internationally for a decade, it’s extremely unlikely that she isn’t a US citizen because, well, that wouldn’t legally be possible. ⌚️ (talk) 00:14, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

Trinidadian-American (?) But still no source that refers to her as American citizen. Cornerstonepicker (talk) 00:24, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
For someone who has toured internationally for a decade, it’s extremely unlikely that she isn’t a US citizen because, well, that wouldn’t legally be possible - Of course it's possible, permanent residents can travel. That doesn't make her American - I'm not. Regardless, it's all speculative. And we can't speculate in a BLP - we need sources. Guettarda (talk) 01:54, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
Unlike 21 Savage whose red flags were hiding in plain sight, nothing in her biography gives the inclination that she never became a citizen (especially working so many jobs which, after 2001, required two forms of legal identification). Almost all reliable sources refer to her as an American rapper. It can be left as Trinidadian-born to maintain prudence but it just feels like everyone is resorting to synth based on a tweet about politics. (For what it’s worth, I think the “I came here illegally” aspect was based on that her mother was on a student visa at the time.) ⌚️ (talk) 04:36, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
especially working so many jobs which, after 2001, required two forms of legal identification - This is speculation. The truth is that millions of undocumented immigrants do work, so speculating about someone's immigrant status on those grounds isn't just speculative, it's also at odds with the facts.
But I'm not saying she's an undocumented immigrant currently, though it's clear that she was one. As for having been one - she's pretty clear that her mother went to the US first (I believe on a work visa) and then she went up later, on a tourist visa. That's pretty common. I assume she regularised her status thereafter, but that's just an assumption. But again, you don't need to be a US citizen to work legally or to travel. I'm not a US citizen, I can't justifiably be called an American, but I've been a legal permanent resident since 2004. I can hold any job except those specifically reserved for US citizens (which are mainly government jobs). Legal permanent residents must pay taxes, but can't vote, can't be drafted, can't serve on a jury. Based on what she has said this is a far more parsimonious explanation. But regardless, it's unknown. We can only make claims in a BLP that we can document. We can document her nationality at birth. We can't document her current citizenship. Guettarda (talk) 14:26, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
The Patriot Act is not speculation. Least of all in New York state. ⌚️ (talk) 15:10, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
Please don't insert comments that break up my signed comments. Your claim that only US citizens are able to work in the US is simply absurd. Guettarda (talk) 23:36, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
At what point did I say the words “only” US citizens could work here? Now you’re just reaching. I clearly said, a person who has had so many jobs, had to have two forms of identification when the law changed (not an opinion) which inherently indicates that at the very least she was a documented immigrant let alone most likely a citizen by then. LaGuardia High School doesn’t even enroll foreign nationals. At any rate, if you care so much the place a hidden note by it. ⌚️ (talk) 23:53, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

Lead image

I've noticed that Minaj's lead image has been changed persistently. So i have decided to make a voting

¿Which image do you choose?

There’s a few parts missing.

Hello guys so i noticed that after on Minaj article where it says 10 Grammy nominations that Minaj’s record of earning over 100 Million record sold was deleted. We have to fix that due to the fact that Minaj is one of the worlds best selling artist and has sold over 100 Million Records and the impact should also be labeled as a legacy now Ahshion1 (talk) 19:03, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

@Ahshion1: What reliable source says she sold 100 million records? —C.Fred (talk) 19:17, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

According to Chart Data, the Queen rapper has officially sold 100 million units across her albums, singles and features as certified by the Recording Industry Association of America, becoming the first female rapper to do so. And also she worth 100 million the first female rapper to achieve that should be added as well Ahshion1 (talk) 20:26, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Nicki Minaj 100 million units* (8.5 million of which are albums) Chart data is a very reliable source Ahshion1 (talk) 20:28, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Update image

Can someone update the cover photo to a much recent image? MeriiEdits (talk) 17:54, 21 December 2019 (UTC)

Take a look at WP:IMAGEPOL. Wikipedia can almost always only use public domain images or free-content images. We can't just lift/copy/steal a photo off the internet. If someone else owns the image - unless they release their rights - Wikipedia cannot use that image. Wikipedia takes copyright issues very seriously plus "Images with any license restricting commercial use or the creation of derivative works may not be used on Wikipedia." Shearonink (talk) 18:58, 21 December 2019 (UTC)

The section Musical Style, in Artistry contains the following sentence: "She collaborated with other artists, producing more electronic songs: "The Boys" with singer Cassie and "Beauty and a Beat" with Justin Bieber.[231]" The word "producing" is misleading as she is not credited as a producer on either of the songs in question, so it should be changed, possibly to "releasing" or another word with similar meaning. Consistent vandalism by cornerstonepicker with clear bias- let's get into it

New-ish user here: noticed that Cornerstonepicker regularly edits Nicki's article with clear bias and intent of discrediting her reputation and adding details about her personal life that aren't needed- and then also removing any adding of controversies (of which there are many) on the Cardi B article.

This user has been accused of negative edits towards Minaj in July 2020 and no action was taken, but there is still a clear display of negative edits towards Minaj clearly aimed at discrediting and/or removing stuff from her articles. He may claim that he has "no bias" and "is only doing it for the sake of the article" but there's a clear, consistent track record for months that again remove stuff such as Nicki's other talents and skills (acting,), and sourcing ONE ARTICLE as basis for adding allegations about Nicki's husband. And yet, when I add multipled sourced edits about Cardi's allegations of transphobia which have been commented on by verified trans celebrities, namely being Angelica Ross and Laverne Cox, it's removed only by him under the label of """gossip""".

This user has probably edited Minaj's articles hundreds of times obviously to discredit Minaj's achievements for months now. I do a positive edit about Minaj's Top 19 hits- it's either reworded to make it sound less flattering or removed entirely.

Yes, to answer the question, I am a fan of Minaj- but the only reason that I had even started editing this article was because again multiple bad faith edits by cornerstonepicker who's already been alleged, with evidence to be editing Minaj's article and adding negative connotations MULTIPLE times. And to say that there is no bias is in bad faith because again, the edits speak for themselves.

I propose that this user be blocked from editing any and all Minaj related articles, and that any details about the adding of the investigation going around her husband be fully discussed in another section. I may be a newbie to Wikipedia, but I checked policy and it seems that the talk section has been the best way to "expose" it all, I suppose. Redandvidya (talk) 13:06, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

I believe my latest edit summary explains it. First, you're not new, you've been editing since 2019. Second, your edit summaries expose the kind of fan you are, and with what intention you come:
    • 14:21, 31 October 2020 diff hist +115‎ m Anaconda (Nicki Minaj song) ‎ edited for grammar. stan nicki

Curious how in the week that Mrajtingzz (talk · contribs), RomanMinajZ (talk · contribs), Agsggshhs (talk · contribs) came and vandalized several articles, then blocked, with others IPs, you came posting that kind of stuff, and removing content that another user reworked. There's nothing else to add here. Cornerstonepicker (talk) 14:46, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
Yes, that's exactly why I said "Yes I am a fan of Minaj," and when I was a noob I DID add those types of edit summaries until I was told to be more clear-cut and constructive by an admin. And while I've been editing since 2019. I only learned the use of talk pages and wikipedia culture recently- I just used to make edits and then not care. The issue is you're citing my own edits as if that's definitive proof that I have a bias towards Minaj- when I already stated that so long ago, when again you have almost the same bias towards Cardi And no, I don't know who those other accounts are, but maybe think about it for a bit- why do Nicki stans from twitter (at least, their usernames makes them look like it) keep coming and editing this article? It's because you consistently remove her achievements, net worth, mentions about her becoming the most awarded female rapper, and in the same breath add inaccurate stuff about the investigation that has been reverted multiple times for MONTHS now which makes you look super sus.
Also, why do you say that "you're not a new user, you've been editing since 2019" and in the same breath say "you're a troll, vandalizing this article" How could both of those things be true at the same time? Stop acting in bad faith and saying that you aren't biased towards Cardi when the evidence that goes back for months clearly says otherwise. Redandvidya (talk) 16:49, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

Recent changes

I'm explaining it here since there's an user actively removing sourced content with misleading edit summaries:

  • The claim: "she became the first female rapper to amass a net worth of $100 million making her the richest female rapper in history." Both sources use the Twitter account @YoungMoneySite as source, which is WP:Unreliable.
  • The The Daily Beast interview sentence was re-worked by another user, yet it was removed without explanation twice.
  • The claim: "The album was a commercial success globally" in the intro fails WP:SYNT and WP:POV: who reached that conclusion?
  • The claim "Queen was a success internationally and became one of the best selling digital albums in China of all time." also fails WP:SYNT and WP:POV, uses another Wikipedia article as source, and fails numerical summarization WP:SYNTHNOT "SYNTH is not numerical summarization".
  • The claim: "She is the most awarded female rapper in history" both sources cited uses her own Instagram post, where she makes that claim, as source, which is WP:Unreliable.

I hope the guidelines are easy to understand. cc: Redandvidya (talk · contribs)

Cornerstonepicker (talk) 07:24, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

Fine. I'll be adding sources to each and every one of these, and removing those with lack of sources. In the meantime, leave the Nicki article alone. Time and time again, your obvious bias against Nicki Minaj has been shown, and your edits show that you are actively attempting to deny her impact in the female rap industry, period.

You have shown nothing but a clear edit agenda towards Minaj with edits for months now, period. Please stop acting like you are impartial. Wikipedia Policy: Adovacy

LEAVE the article alone and maybe I won't have to edit it so much to be accurate to her impact. I have debunked multiple times your claims that I am trolling, or "messing" around with the article, so to speak, and responded with proof of your edit bias and confusing unrelated edits- The "Queen of Rap" part has been sourced multiple times, I added five references, and yet you removed it. Suspicious.

Leave the article alone. Redandvidya (talk) 08:17, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

First, what is false: all my edits have been properly sourced (with REALIABLE sources). Second of all, there's no ownership. Third, you fail to realize there's guidelines: you keep ignoring WP:SYNT and WP:POV. "was a commercial success globally..." is a WP:SYNT. Who said that? Who reached that conclusion? Also, failing to realize that adding more sources that cite her own Instagram post and own words does not make it reliable, it fails Wikipedia:Verifiability#Self-published_sources. Same thing happens with the net worth claim, all cite a tweet from an unreliable source. Use professional publications for net worth claims. Btw, for example, I saw the mention of "most top 10s" and I reworked it and leave it there, because it is properly sourced. I'm not removing anything that is properly sourced. I hope you understand the difference. Cornerstonepicker (talk) 09:39, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
What are you talking about?? I assumed that you meant this about the Roman Reloaded sales in the main bio, which I removed the globally part but ADDED CITATIONS ON IT BEING A COMMERCIAL SUCESSS because it debuted at No.1 on Billboard 200 and added so many references to that.
Nicki having the most Hot 100 entries was sources with FOUR DIFFERENT REFERENCES, THREE from Billboard, and you remove it. This literally shows your agenda against Nicki for months! And it's not just me, because several other users have shown nothing but proof of your favoritism towards Cardi. Leave the article alone and stop trying to CLEARLY discredit SOURCED edits on her impact as the QUEEN OF RAP. I will frankly read up on WP:Synt and POV, because again as I stated, even though you tried to deny it, that I am a new user to Wikipedia and have to get familiar with certain policies.
HOWEVER, It doesn't justify you undoing the Hot 100 entries edit, as I sourced that from Billboard themselves, three times, and again it literally shows your edit bias against Nicki. I disagree with "I'm not removing anything that is properly sourced." I sourced Billboard on the entries achievement, and you still removed it. You vandalize her article with inaccurate and unusual details against her husband, Then cry wolf when I add details about Cardi's repeated transphobia, which I also sourced official publications on and had statements of trans celebrities themselves. It's not vandalism or gossip, it's just at the same scale on what you're doing to Nicki. I try my best to properly source everything I do. Redandvidya (talk) 09:57, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

"...The record was later surpassed by Taylor Swift in 2020.[158]"

Also, saying "Commercial success, global commercial success" is WP:PEACOCK. Avoid that synt. Let the numbers speak for themselves.
Cornerstonepicker (talk) 09:59, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
Edit the article to fit the guidelines you so choose, but by COMPLETELY UNDOING IT you are again showing your agenda against Nicki! The Hot 100 entries have been clearly sourced, she broke that record period, and you have an ulterior motive to do it: discrediting her success. The Platinum certification literally IS numbers speaking for themselves, and you still removed it! Yes, I may be a noobie to Wikipedia and policy, but several users have literally said that you're being biased against Nicki by removing her achievements, with proof, time and time again. Am currently reading SYNTH and POV and the ACHIEVEMENTS that I am adding no longer violate that (I deleted the net worth due to conflicting sources) and stated that Roman Reloaded had positive reviews which is FACT. Two number ones within the same timeframe

According to my calculations, Nicki is the only female rapper AT ALL to score both her first number one, namely being Say So, and her second, Trollz, in the shortest time period (six weeks.) However, I can't find a news article that states this fact. Would anyone like to help me find an article mentioning this? Thank you <3 Redandvidya (talk) 09:04, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

Insert the following after the first paragraph of section "Impact":

Additionally, Nicki Minaj has been praised for subverting a variety of traditional norms in both hip hop and queer spaces. Nicki Minaj’s almost calculated ambiguous sexuality upsets heteronormativity by not conforming to the archetypes of female rappers and being vaguely queer in her performance persona while also challenging homonormativity by being a Black woman who does not subscribe to stereotypical lesbian relationship tropes.[1] Minaj was able to further disrupt homonormativity in her use of camp fashion. Originally, camp was dominated by white gay men; therefore, Nicki Minaj as a Black, heterosexual woman did not fit the stereotypical mold. However, even as she has diverged from her original fashion sense, Nicki Minaj was able to develop her own style of fashion and performance (nicki-aesthetics) that provides an intersection between Blackness and camp that did not exist previously.[2]

Anaconda 1b views lead?

I think that for this article, it is relevant to put her name as the first woman to reach 1b views in the lead, because I think this achievement is on the same level as the 100 hot 100 entries- however, reading up on policy for lead stuff, I think it makes more sense to condense it. So instead of in "in 2021 minaj reached 1 billion views with anaconda" it would be

"She is the first female rapper to reach one billion views on a solo female rap music video, with Anaconda on VEVO."

Therefore it condenses the information, fit for the lead. Any thoughts? Ty Redandvidya (talk) 23:06, 3 April 2021 (UTC)

I don't see the need for it in the lead, unless their is significant coverage of it to indicate it is an important part of her career. It is just one of many many achievements she has reached. WikiVirusC(talk) 00:22, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
I don't see any need either; leads are meant for achievements that are record breaking or perhaps a one-off achievement (such as surpassing 100 Billboard entires or debuting at number, etc). Definitely feels better to keep it in the achievements section. This page is becoming so much better keep up the good work everyone! Maxwell King123321 00:51, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Sidenote, we should find another source. Currently the source says More impressively, the video becomes the video by a solo female rapper to achieve this.. I know what they meant to say, "video becomes the first", but until they update it should find another source. Also should probably remove the "only" from first and only, since while its true, it isn't said in source. WikiVirusC(talk) 01:49, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Done! Will look for a better source in the meantime. Maxwell King123321 02:52, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Reaching a billion views was a major feat in 2012, but isn’t that particularly groundbreaking in 2021. Or vice versa. Trillfendi (talk) 06:36, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

@Trillfendi: She's the first female solo rapper to accomplish this. That's the groundbreaking accomplishment. Besides Anaconda Minaj has plenty of 1B videos (Swalla, Bang Bang, Side to Side, etc) Redandvidya (talk) 10:02, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
Doesn't the fact she has multiple billion view videos make it even less important overall. While yes it can have its own significance as "solo" song, it's one of many over a billion. WikiVirusC(talk) 13:27, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
I think that because she's the first female rapper that makes it a big accomplishment; considering now there has been a rise in female rap - for example on Cardi B they highlight that she has the most number one singles for a female rapper when she hasn't got the most overall - if that makes sense. • ASCAP only rewards ASCAP members, not BMI members. Both house songwriters and publishers and only rewards their own: check the list of recipients.
  • "Proved her worldwide appeal" fails WP:FANCRUFT and WP:PEACOCK, as does "a major hit". The same paragraph had awkwardly written "100 entries" three times.
  • The professional Review aggregators for scores and claims are Metacritic and AnyDecentMusic. Use their Synthesis for those claims; according to them, for example, The Pinkprint received favorable reviews, not acclaim.
  • The nickname taking issue with WP:GLOBAL is the same reason why Swift, Bieber, Grande, and several male rappers don't have that kind of titles in the lead section, even tho sources can be found. Even Gaga doesn't have it in her lead section. And Gaga is, for example, another case of too soon for Legacy decision. This is in order to be fair to these articles, and not overlook these cases.

Cornerstonepicker (talk) 06:53, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

There is no wikipedia policy that states against having nicknames about their careers, and in this case, Minaj has been called the queen of rap for 10 years now To use your own logic, Cardi is called one of the most influential female rappers "of all time", yet she's only had a career for 3-4 years. By that logic, anyone should be able to remove that, yet you would probably revert that since you seem to have a pattern to remove all edits on any articles that you apparently don't like. Huh. "Queen of Rap" title

Nicki Minaj has been referred to as the Queen of Rap for 10+ years now, and therefore, in my opinion, deserves to have that honorific title in her lead.

Source: 1. Rolling Stone - https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/nicki-minaj-the-new-queen-of-hip-hop-103304/ 2. V Magazine - https://vmagazine.com/article/the-rise-and-rise-of-nicki-minaj/

These are several year old articles. The Rolling Stone one is from 2010 and the V Magazine one is from 2013. Both reputable sources, stating her as the Queen of Rap / Queen of Hip Hop. Also worth noting that the "Queen of Rap" title has been in the Impact section for months before it was moved to the lead. The talk page is used for a consensus among editors, so please state below if you AGREE or DISAGREE on the inclusion of the honorific title of "Queen of Rap" in her title. Thank you. NATIONALITY

Voice4People (talk) 23:39, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

Why is there a significant amount of people who keep on adding “American” to her nationality? Nicki Minaj was BORN in Trinidad to both parents being Born and Raised in Trinidad as well. Her entire family is from Trinidad, which makes her 100% Trini (Trinidadian). It is understood that she migrated to New York at an early age, but this does not make her “American”. Her heritage, culture, background, and birthplace is all TRINIDADIAN. She was RAISED by TWO TRINIDADIAN Parents in Queens, New York— which is a very Caribbean/West Indian influenced Borough/City as well, so adding “American” to her biography is irrational and unnecessary, being as nobody is even aware if she has American citizenship or not. Just because she left Trinidad around the age of 5, does not make her any less Trinidadian or any more American! Please stop the confusion! Wiki1Voice2 (talk) 14:27, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

Lead sentence guideline

Previously, the lead sentence described Minaj as "a rapper, singer, actress, model, philanthropist and businesswoman", however, the in the NYT article citation given, she is described as a rapper and pop star. I have changed the lead sentence to follow the citation given.

Please note that at MOS:BLPLEAD, the guideline on roles in lead sentences in BLPs states:

The lead sentence should describe the person as they are commonly described in reliable sources.

The noteworthy position(s) or role(s) the person held should usually be stated in the opening paragraph. However, avoid overloading the lead paragraph with various and sundry roles; instead, emphasize what made the person notable. Incidental and non-noteworthy roles (i.e. activities that are not integral to the person's notability) should usually not be mentioned in the lead paragraph.

Only include roles that are "integral to the person's notability", what the person is known for. Also, the formulation of roles in the lead sentence should following how the person is "commonly described in reliable sources". Do not change the lead sentence to include roles, unless you can show that the person is commonly described in such a fashion.

LLC in career section

pinging Redandvidya.

There are multiple reasons why I shortened the "LLC" paragraph in this article.

  • You don't need all that (as I specified in my edit summary)
  • "non-single track" is redundant when you could just say "track" and the former was clearly added to add emphasis to the fact that a non-single went number one
  • You really could have at least put "LLC" in quotations
  • "skyrocketed" is not encyclopedic language
  • You attributed a quote (which didn't need to be there at all) when the article being used as a source already appears to be reliable.
  • "making Queen the only album by a female rapper with the most number one iTunes hits in US iTunes history." girl...? that doesn't even make sense?

I'm changing it back to my version. versacespaceleave a message! 02:23, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Being specific is never a bad thing, plus for some reason you also removed the fact that she is coming back on May 14th? I can see the faults in my grammar, but there's no need for this sass. Per the Affinity Mag tweet, the source literally says "‘Queen’ is now the album by a female rapper with the most #1 hits in US iTunes history." I just copied from that source. Also, one thing that bothers me is that you don't state why LLC went #1 on iTunes on the first place, so there's not important context... Reverting to my version, with edits. Redandvidya (talk) 07:07, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
@Redandvidya: the reason i removed her comeback is because you sourced it exclusively to a tweet. you cannot possibly make all that up from a tweeted photo with the caption "FRIDAY". that's not allowed. she never says what will happen on Friday, so you can't create an explanation. the supplemented source is okay, however. the "LLC" section is fine now. versacespaceleave a message! 11:12, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

There is also no requirement of any kind for anyone to tell you anything at all about themselves on their userpage,or to even have one at all, so accusing them of not actually existing is frankly just petty and ridiculous. Queen of Rap moniker again

RogueShanghai, the majority of above commenters in Cornerstonepicker's RfC approve of the proposed lead section. I implemented it just now because of this approval majority. It does not contain any mention of the disputed Queen of Rap moniker, so if you want that in the lead section you will need to start your own RfC to gain consensus for it. The WP:ONUS is on you to convince others before it can be re-inserted. (Any disputed text remains OUT of the article until consensus forms to include it.) Specificity of accolades

I noticed something about the lead that is highly irregular to me. Many featured articles, such as Mariah Carey, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga, all have a section at the fourth paragraph detailing what specific awards or accolades the person has won:

  • [Perry] has received various awards, including four Guinness World Records, five Billboard Music Awards, five American Music Awards, a Brit Award, and a Juno Award.
  • [Gaga's] accolades include 12 Grammy Awards, 18 MTV Video Music Awards, 16 Guinness World Records, awards from the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and recognition as Billboard's Artist of the Year (2010) and Woman of the Year (2015).
  • Carey has won five Grammy Awards, nineteen World Music Awards, ten American Music Awards, and fifteen Billboard Music Awards.

This seems to be consensus for a wide majority of articles about artists- I've only cited three examples of featured articles having this, but there should be much more. Why is it different when it comes to Nicki Minaj? My proposed change to the fourth paragraph would be:

  • Minaj is one of the best selling female artists of all time with 100 million records sold worldwide. Her numerous accolades include eight American Music Awards, twelve BET Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, a Brit Award, five MTV Video Music Awards and a Guinness World Record. She was ranked as Billboard's top female rapper of the 2010s, as well as seventh among the top female artists of the decade.

RogueShanghai, I don't think anyone can oppose this since such a sentence is pivotal to any WP:MUSICBIO, especially considering that Nicki is one of the most decorated artists of the last decade. cybertrip👽 ( 💬📝) 08:56, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
Seems fine, but I would stick to her biggest achievements awards' wise, therefore excluding the Brit Award and the Guinness one. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 22:51, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
Katy Perry has also won a Brit Award. That is why I included it. "Pop pills now we Shanghai!"(talk to me!~) 04:53, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
I don’t see why not, as long as we’re sticking with ones at the same level of notability as the Grammys such as the ones mentioned in the proposal and won’t be listing every single thing because that’s what the accolades article is for. CAMERAwMUSTACHE (talk) 13:10, 26 August 2021 (UTC)

Minaj is notable for her usage of double entendres in her songwriting:

Mic: [Minaj is] an able wordsmith, and she often uses double meanings to pull off killer puns. [3]

Refinery29: Her use of the phrase “ganja burn” acts as a double entendre that illustrates how she is cutting out the negative things in her life.[4]

Billboard: The double entendre compares Nicki whippin’ her fast car to how a slave master would whip a slave to make them work faster.[5]

Entertainment Weekly: a double entendre that references her sold out MAC collection and drug dealing

This was mentioned in the lead, prior to the RfC. Can anyone make an important case for how Minaj is not notable for her usage of double entendres, and how this shouldn't be mentioned in the article? Be my guest. "Pop pills now we Shanghai!"(talk to me!~) 13:10, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Pinging @Binksternet, CAMERAwMUSTACHE, SunriseInBrooklyn, and MarioSoulTruthFan: for again, a third party's opinion if we can discuss adding this to the lead."Pop pills now we Shanghai!"(talk to me!~) 05:41, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
k you're citing two sources that say she used double entendres in two album tracks. Then, Mic (not strong source) says she often uses it. But your argument says she's notable for using it, not the same, like you added it before the rfc. Cornerstonepicker (talk) 05:56, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
Sir, this is Wikipedia, not your Twitter feed. There is no need for constant informal passive aggresiveness. If not "notable," then I think these sources prove that she at least uses double entendres often. "Pop pills now we Shanghai!"(talk to me!~) 10:09, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
Lots of artists use double-entendre. You need more explicit sourcing. Binksternet (talk) 12:55, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
Yeah I agree. Double entendre is common in hip hop and a lot of artists use it, some better than others. While I personally think Minaj is definitely better at it based on some of her better bars, I’m not seeing the widespread coverage to make it lead-worthy. 3/4 of the sources provided above mention specific instances of double entendre, not her work as a whole. And again, double entendre is not unique to Minaj unlike her animated flow and versatility. And if it can be sourced I’d argue her use of accents such as British Cockney is a more unique and notable aspect of her rapping but she doesn’t do it as often now. I subscribe to CAMERAwMUSTACHE opinion, word by word. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 13:50, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
The Billboard article was an entire article about her best punchlines from the Queen album. There's many reliable articles like this:
Billboard: "Nicki Minaj's Best Punchlines From The 'Queen' Album"
And also, more articles covering her consistent usage of wordplay/double entendres/punchlines in her songwriting.
HotNewHipHop: A Guide To Nicki Minaj's Best Bars Of All Time
Complex: The 25 Best Nicki Minaj Verses
GQ: These Are the Best Nicki Minaj Verses
All of these articles from reliable sources break down her bars. Her songwriting is very much prominent and lead worthy, the question is what specific consensus can we get from these articles? shanghai.talk to me 06:15, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
