On 4 September 2023, it was proposed that this article be moved from Maria Theresa of Austria-Este (1849–1919) to Maria Theresa of Austria-Este, Queen of Bavaria. The result of the discussion was moved.

Why, Mary III of Scotland?

Why did the Jacobite, recognize Theresa as Mary III of Scotland instead of Mary IV. After all there were Mary I of Soctland reign: 1542-67, Mary II of Scotland reign: 1689-94 , the pretender Mary III of Scotland AKA Princess Marie Beatrice of Savoy. AGAIN why not Mary IV? Why Mary IV of England?

What is the point of the Jacobite succession anyway when it recognizes Mary II of England and Scotland (and by extrapolation also William III / II), the very persons who replaces James II / VII in the first place? Jacobite Succession

"Under the terms of the Sophia Naturalization Act 1705, the Electress Sophia and all "issue of her body" were declared to be natural-born British subjects, regardless of the actual place of their birth, unless they were Roman Catholics. The 1705 Act was not repealed until 1948 and, consequently, Maria Theresa would have been covered by its provisions."

Maria Theresa was Catholic, so how was she a "natural born British subject," according to this? This says that all descendants of Sophia EXCEPT Catholics, which Maria Theresa was. 76.202.192.102 (talk) 01:09, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

– The proposed form of disambiguation is generally preferred to parenthetical (more WP:NATURAL). Support The inclusion of their titles makes the names more defining, compared to mere numbers and dates. And as the nominator stated the format "[Maiden Name], Queen of [Place]" is already in use for various articles. Other examples are Maria Komnene, Queen of Hungary, Marie of Brabant, Queen of France, Marie of Lusignan, Queen of Aragon, Marie of Luxembourg, Queen of France, Maria of Portugal, Queen of Castile, Maria of Aragon, Queen of Castile, Maria of Serbia, Queen of Bosnia, Maria of Aragon, Queen of Portugal, Mary Tudor, Queen of France, Elizabeth of Sicily, Queen of Hungary, Elizabeth Stuart, Queen of Bohemia, Elisabeth of Austria, Queen of France, Elisabeth of Bavaria, Queen of Germany, Elisabeth of Carinthia, Queen of the Romans, Elizabeth of Hungary, Queen of Serbia, etc. Keivan.f^Talk 21:41, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Those are far longer than they need to be. Maria Theresa, Queen of Bavaria; Maria Theresa, Queen of Saxony; and Maria Theresa, Queen of the Two Sicilies would be perfectly adequate. This format was discussed and adopted for articles Maria Amalia, Holy Roman Empress and Maria Amalia, Duchess of Parma. However, I would advise checking up on the spelling of these women's names. The spelling "Maria Theresa" for the queen of Bavaria is neither native nor, apparently, the most common in English-language sources. As for Maria Theresa of Austria (1801–1855), the problem is that there is another Maria Theresa of Austria who was queen of Sardinia, so the proposed title is ambiguous. Those titles would also be improvements on the present title, though more titles do use "[Maiden Name], Queen of [Place]". On the note of the two queens of Sardinia, Maria Theresa of Austria (1801 – 1855) as just "of Austria", the other was Maria Theresa of Austria-Este, not of Austria. Not that longer to be honest. I think omitting the territorial designations would disrupt the consistency that these pages would otherwise have with the articles on other consorts that I have listed.
