Friday Dec. 16 -- news sent to IOWA "home newspaper" of new AMBASSADOR

[edit]

Hi! I'm a WIKI contributor of quite minor info I happened across -- apparently there is a shake-up from the June 2011 - Dec. 15 named Ambassador -- here's the www.desmoinesregister.com (IOWA state capital) article:

A native of Cedar Rapids who is a veteran foreign service officer has been nominated by President Barack Obama to become ambassador to India.

Nancy J. Powell, who joined the foreign service in 1977 after teaching school in Dayton, Ia., has previously served as ambassador to Nepal, Pakistan, Ghana and Uganda. She’s currently serving as director general of the foreign service and director of human resources at the State Department. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa. URL is this http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/dmr/index.php/2011/12/16/native-iowan-named-ambassador-to-india/ Hope this "discussion" matter will help with changing the page to reflect the incoming Ambassador for next year of Pres. Obama's diplomatic corps. Timothyjshaw (talk)timothyjshaw —Preceding undated comment added 02:40, 17 December 2011 (UTC).[reply]

Peter Burleigh

[edit]

Peter Burleigh, a retired ambassador, was appointed charge d'affaires between Ambassadors Roemer and Powell. He was not appointed to this ambassadorship by the President nor was he confirmed by the Senate. 122.162.161.206 (talk) 18:01, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
