Page Translation

[edit]

Could someone, preferably a Nigerian, help translate this page into Yoruba? I mean this page should have a Wikipedia translation version of Yoruba Since I am not familiar with Nigerian languages, this translation would be of great interest to the Yoruba people. Based on my research while writing Draft Lisabi: The Uprising, the page revolves around a Yoruba traditional warrior and the Oyo Empire from western Nigeria. I'll take this one on. Ping me if I'm not back by next week. 𝚈𝚘𝚟𝚝 (𝚝𝚊𝚕𝚔𝚟𝚝) 20:50, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As reviewer, I will now assess this article in accordance with the Manual of Style for film-related articles. Sorry for dropping criticism like a ton of lead, but good articles are good for a reason. 𝚈𝚘𝚟𝚝 (𝚝𝚊𝚕𝚔𝚟𝚝) 21:11, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Yovt could you please go through the article i think I have made some changes. Afro 📢Talk! 10:56, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have gone through it again, feel free to check it out. 𝚈𝚘𝚟𝚝 (𝚝𝚊𝚕𝚔𝚟𝚝) 16:50, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Right off the bat the current lead paragraph seems good as the first paragraph, there still remains 2 more needed. Paragraph 2 needs to have detailed description of all major production in the film, including how the film's idea was conceived, what studio picked it up, who was chosen for cast, how/where it was shot, etc. Paragraph 3 needs a summary of box office records and what rewards (accolades) it received. Ok, this is great information, but the opening paragraph has too much plot information. Keep the first and cast sentences, and replace all the context of the film information with something similar to: The film follows Lisabi Agbongbo-Akala, an 18th-century Yoruba warrior who seeks vengeance after witnessing the murder of his friend by the Alaafin of Oyo and his ally, Songodeyi. Driven by grief, Lisabi gains mystical powers and rallies followers to lead a revolt against oppression, sparking a historic rebellion against the Oyo Empire. Everything else seems good, but please please please release a short summary of box office reception.

Plot (also synopsis) section accurately describes the movie's content and is well between 400 - 700 words. I'd also suggest making the fist paragraph just : King Olodan is ________ (mention who he is). After refusing to pay the heavy tributes demanded by the Alaafin (explain who they are as well), is savagely beaten and dragged to the palace. The tributes, consisting of money and farm produce, are forcibly taken from the people's (who's) hard-earned businesses. Enraged by Olodan's rebellion, the Alaafin of Oyo (played by Odunlade Adekola) (per MOS:FILMPLOT and redundancy to cast section), orders his execution, making him an example for any who dare to resist.

Already reference number one is unreliable and there are red links to people without their article (not good), if someone is notable then suggest making an article for them otherwise scrap the red link. I'd suggest expanding the cast pictures size to like width 500. Quality film articles usually have 3 individual images or one image of the main cast; consider reducing the amount of images from 5 into necessary actors or somewhat. Although roles don't have be sourced, many of the best film articles have at least one ref for each actor.

Production section is usually divided into 4 parts: Development, Pre-production, Filming, and Post-production. This current section needs substantial expansion. This has been satisfied to a good degree; be surety provide inline citations as well. Make sure the quotation needs MOS:QUOTE

Make sure "The film was released on 27 September 2024." has an inline citation. The is the place where I recommend to put in the box office reception, which is missing.

Reception

[edit]

Seems good for the most part, I suggest adding Rotten tomatoes if you can; also maybe expand audience viewership as small paragraphs are best expanded.

Seems good at a glance, be sure to follow the guidelines on the MOS for further reference. Please take some time to make these changes (and others you think may be necessary). I will come back later for more feedback and assess other parts. See here for examples on some of the best film articles on Wikipedia.

Drive-by comment: Yovt, the fact you're demanding a "substantial expansion" as opposed to merely a "broad coverage" as per criterion 3 and citing WP:Featured Article to get your point across makes me think you're not really evaluating the article against the GA criteria. Please note that the bar for coverage at GA only requires it to be "broad", not "comprehensive" as expected of Featured Articles; if the nominator has covered everything they could about the article, even though it may not be enough to make it to FA, then so be it. Likewise, paragraphs should be supported by subheadings only when they become uncomfortably too long to navigate. Not organizing a film article's Production section according to production stage, nor adding a "detailed description" of the lede has not precluded an article from ever achieving GA status before; for instance, Leprechaun. Right, I understand what I did and have corrected it. I should have used words better; I am correcting it now. 𝚈𝚘𝚟𝚝 (𝚝𝚊𝚕𝚔𝚟𝚝) 16:49, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Yovt fixed every thing you have highlighted i dont think theres actually a box office or award at the moment Afro 📢Talk! 22:30, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have made some more fixes to this article. As of now I can see that this article does indeed have proper broad coverage of the Nigerian film; however it is quite far from being a featured article. If/when available, be sure to add accolades in the first instance as that is primary content. AS far as GA goes, I can say that this article passes, great work.
