Image

[edit]

I would suggest reverting back to the public domain Image:Kelly Hu Head.jpg (or any other PD image of Hu). "Fair use" is something one is supposed to justify, and I don't see the reason to take a legal risk, if we have a public domain source. Note: I have no objection to the actual image (Image:Kelhu.jpg), it actually looks better than the PD one, and would happily use it, if it was PD; and further I have no objection to "fair use", if it's the only option. Also note, that the tag "promophoto" (used in Image:Kelhu.jpg) is wrong, it's not from a known source (none is stated) and it's not a promo photo. --rob 22:33, 18 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Another image Image:Kelly Hu0001.jpg was used, and I took it out, and nominated it for deletion. It claimed to be public-domain, but it clearly is not. --rob 04:31, 23 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I was messing around with an image I thought might be PD, but decided not to bother and replaced back the old picture.Sorrowek 07:35, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

public domain image

[edit]

The public domain image in this article, may not be replaced by a fairuse image, per WP:FAIR. If anybody does not like the image, please find a better *free* image. --Rob 02:47, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnicity

[edit]

The article currently states that Kelly is Asian-American, a statement contradicted by the fact (stated later) that she is Chinese/Hawaiian/English. I'm truncating it to "American", and it should stay that way until and unless a better phrase or justification for the old one appears. 128.12.186.192 08:34, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That is the way it should stay, period. Please refer to WP:MOSBIO, specifically "opening paragraph, section #3". Thanks! --Tom 12:12, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
She was born in Hawaii and it can be debated of her nationality, being HAWAIIAN over American. Mamoahina (talk) 17:04, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Does Eurasian American work better? She is a Hawaiian but people group us Asians and Island Pacificers together anyway. Azn Clayjar 07:16, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No. Look a few lines up. Period means period, end of story, bye bye. --Tom 12:51, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Tom, Look a few lines up :

   * Assume good faith
   * Avoid personal attacks

Nationality edits

[edit]

One user is going around to a lot of articles and edits articles towards a bias. I concur with the recent revert prior to this post. Morenooso 04:07, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality

[edit]

Per WP:MOSBIO#Opening paragraph #3 a biography should give Nationality. Removing this should be considered vandalism and users should be warned accordingly. --After Midnight 0001 04:18, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In Hu's article, being an American of mixed descent is very notable as she has played roles that draw upon this background. --Morenooso 04:27, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You know, I always say this when I get an argument like that: If you have a good reason for putting ethnicity in the header, then put that reason into the header! (Rather than the ethnicity). "Asian American actress" doesn't tell me that Hu's "mixed descent is very notable as she has played roles that draw upon this background". A sentence that says "Hu has played roles that draw upon her Eurasian background" in the header, on the other hand, does. If this is verifiable and sourceable, that is. Name

[edit]

Her "Chinese name" is totally irrelevant. If she used some other Japanese name, that might be relevant; she did work in Japan. Gene Nygaard (talk) 05:35, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Presumably it was included since she's of part-Chinese descent and therefore does have a "Chinese name"..? ntnon (talk) 18:22, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Language

[edit]

Is her family Mandarin? It would seem more likely that her family is Cantonese, given the year she was born in. That makes the Pinyin version of her Chinese name novel. It should be a Cantonese romanization instead if they are Cantonese. 65.94.47.63 (talk) 07:00, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Private life

[edit]

Is she married, single, divorced widowed? Any kids? Future plans, life goals? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.141.78.208 (talk) 11:16, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Voice actor(voice artist) redundant?

[edit]

Okay first of all I don't agree that it was wise to remove voice actor (voice artist) from Kelly Hu and saying it is a "redundant word". Let me take this seriously while yes, voice acting is another form of acting it is considered a separate entity, and sometimes some actors (e.g. Clancy Brown, Greg Ellis, Scott Menville, Tara Platt, Johnny Yong Bosch, to name a few...) have done a balance of live-action acting and voice acting and it DOES NOT make sense to remove them and simply list it as "Actor". It's just like changing Mel Blanc or Jim Cummings' role as "Actor" instead of voice actor/artist?--73.166.187.154 (talk) 14:50, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The difference for Mel Blanc or Jim Cummings is that their filmograohy consists solely of voice roles, so "voice actor" or "voice artist" is suitable for them unlike Kelly Hu or someone like Katey Segal, who are known for both live roles and voice roles. Missing Film/TV credits

[edit]

There is a lot of Kelly Hu’s voice work missing from this page. Anywhere to add that? For example, “Young Justice” is a great animated show that she has been a part of since the beginning, voicing “Cheshire”. 68.199.206.130 (talk) 03:22, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
