Sorry Paulhirst, but "Geschäftsführer" translates exactly to "manager; whip; managing director; executive director" in the beolingus dictionary. If you prefer word reference, it translates it to "manager, managing director, secretary, party chairman" as seen here. I picked the translation that I thought was best, and here political director seems best. To be safe, I also supplied a citation.
Again, I'm sorry, but your personal correspondence is, as far as I know, irrelevant (I'm pretty sure personal correspondence is proscribed by the guidelines in Wikipedia:No_original_research. Not positive, but I welcome you to cite somewhere that allows it). Unless you can provide a reputable source to support your preferred translation, I'm afraid I am going to change it back.
Also, if you look at wiktionary, the only translation given is "managing director" [1]. I also found three other English language sources: the first says that she is the "political manager of the German Pirates Party" [2], and the second says she is the "new party chairperson" [3]. They are both getty images descriptions, though, so I'm not quite sure they make good sources. This Spiegel International article calls her predecessor "the Pirate equivalent of general secretary", claiming that Nocun "replaced" him. Also, I forgot to sign my last post. Hello again-- I see you changed the title back to your preferred (unsourced) wording. No big deal. Maybe we can come to some compromise? Like I said, personal correspondence between you and the person the article is about, as far as I know, is not relevant. We aren't writing a news article. We are merely saying what other articles on the internet report (wikipedia is a tertiary source!). I read your email that you posted to your talk page, and it seems like you are bringing in an ideological perspective here (namely that the pirate party is supposed to be non-hierarchical). I can appreciate your intent, but without a source in English, it isn't usable.
My suggestion, thus, would be to agree to a different title that is sourced. Perhaps "managing director"? Or "political manager"? What do you think? Ljpernic (talk) 00:34, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
