Early Life
[edit]I've more or less filled out the section describing Cairns's VC-winning action and the subsequent ordeal of making sure the medal was actually awarded. It would be great, however, to find some more information on Cairns's early life.AJMacPherson (talk) 02:47, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Precise date of death
[edit]It's also come to my attention that various dates have been reported. Unfortunately Chindit records are noxiously unreliable — or, in many cases, simply nonexistent. The VC action took place 17 March 1944; Calvert suggests he died the following morning. But the article lists 19 March as the official date of death. Any clarification would be helpful.
