Anna Silk's Degree Subject

[edit]

Sourced from a website containing one of the only interviews of Anna Silk currently online, dailygleaner.com clearly states that Anna graduated from St. Thomas University with a degree in psychology. And I quote, "She did some theatre as a kid but she really discovered her love of it while she was studying at St. Thomas University. After she earned a psychology degree, in 1997, she worked for a couple of summers with film crews."...Although I am aware an error may or may not have been made by the author of this article (as it seems odd for them to have stated that Anna found her love of theatre while in University and participated in different productions, though graduated with a degree in psychology) I am basing this information off of what I have gathered from my research. Anna could have left St. Thomas University with both, for instance, but there is no source to prove this statement. Any opposing source supporting her Bachelor of Arts degree would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Anna Silk: Date of Birth

[edit]

Sourced from her official fansite, Anna Silk's date of birth was January 31, 1974. Please stop changing this date to that of an estimation. Anna Silk's fansite is trusted. I have also gathered the "1974" section from her dailygleaner.com accurate interview, that of which states that Anna was 35 in the month of May, year 2009. January 31 is her birth date and so because that date has already been and gone in 2010, it is only logical for Anna to be considered 36 years of age.

Fansites aren't reliable sources, however. --jpgordon::==( o ) 18:25, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
How about IMDB? https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0798014/?ref_=m_nv_sr_1 2600:6C64:647F:F60B:8E:D8A4:7EE4:3778 (talk) 16:42, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
IMDb is a user-generated source, where a wrong birth date can be easily added by absolutely any internet user based on absolutely any of the same bad sources that could be used here. So no, IMDb is not in and of itself support for the correctness of a birth date that's been disputed — it can be just as wrong as any other site. Bearcat (talk) 16:52, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm still new to being an editor, but is there a major reason someone (User:Pyxis_Solitary) deleted the inclusion of her birthdate or why we can not include her birthdate in her article? A web search shows numerous sources with her birthdate being January 31, 1974. It seems strange for me to add information if it is just going to be deleted/removed. NantucketHistory (talk) 06:13, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@NantucketHistory: When you opened the edit screen you saw a hidden message revealed that states: "This is a BLP article. Only sources recognized as reliable are accepted for inclusion and verification of DOB. See WP:RELIABLE."
When you entered the infobox area, you saw the following in the Birth date window: "<!--For living people: use only template {{Birth year and age|YYYY}} — if year is *verified*. See [[WP:DOB]].--> <!--For people who have died: use template {{Birth date|YYYY|MM|DD}} — if DOB is verified.-->".
At the top of this Talk page you see an area that begins with "This article must adhere to the biographies of living persons (BLP) policy...." If you click on biographies of living persons you are taken to the Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons (aka WP:BLP) policy.
If you scroll down to WP:DOB you will see the following: "Wikipedia includes full names and dates of birth that have been widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object to the details being made public."  Widely published by reliable sourcesSources linked to the subject.
In other words, without reliable sources and/or sources linked to Anna Silk herself (and this applies to any individual with a BLP article) with which to verify the date of birth, you cannot include it in the article. The policy for BLPs is strictly enforced.
Just in case: fan sites are not reliable sources; user-generated content are not reliable sources; IMDb is not a reliable source; wikis and mirrors are not reliable sources.
Since you are a relatively new user, you should familiarize yourself with the policies and guidelines for editing. Pyxis Solitary (yak). L not Q. 11:08, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Expired URLs of references

[edit]

Some references have become dead links because the URL has expired (e.g. The Daily Gleaner). An archival search needs to be done for those affected, the current link noted as an archive, and new links to the archived article provided. (P.S. Fan sites can be helpful, but they are not reliable sources of accurate information.) Pyxis Solitary (talk) 05:03, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Anna Silk. Please take a moment to review my edit.
