[edit]Hi all. At the following link on timesofindia there are at least a dozen articles related to Akane Yamaguchi. Maybe someone useful to be integrated in the WP article.Micheledisaveriosp (talk) 17:30, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
Page in need of Copyediting
[edit]I was recently alerted to this page, and it is clear that is has some serious issues. I would like to note that I am very unfamiliar with badminton and Japanese badminton culture. It appears that recently, User:Fdery added a significant amount of content to the page detailing specific competitions and sporting events. While I don't think this anywhere near this much detail is necessary for the page, I don't feel right about cutting it en masse. Much of the article can be easily reviewed and edited for flow, as much of the language was likely written by individuals who are not native speakers of English. I would at least like to hear from others before I proceed. KidAd (talk) 02:12, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
- @KidAd An experienced copy edit member will not do so. Vtukol (talk) 03:55, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Vtuko: None of this information is necessary for the article. If anything, it detracts from it. I urge you to review the pages of other sports figures and compare them with this one. If you want my help, I would be happy to do so. KidAd (talk) 03:58, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
I have just received a request from Vtuko to edit this page. I have no idea why I was contacted: I don't know that I've ever heard of Yamaguchi. Can anyone explain what is going on? Colin Rowat (talk) 22:00, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
I have also received a request from Vtuko to edit this page. I have been doing a lot of cite maintenance but I do not see the need for any on this page at this time. -- User-duck (talk) 22:26, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
I also received a request. I don't believe I have ever edited a page remotely related to sports so I don't know how I was found and contacted. Skyes(BYU) (talk) 22:42, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
@KidAd (talk) I also think that some unnecessary paragraphs should be omitted. Fdery (talk) 03:04, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
- Y'all have been had by a sock. See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Fdery/Archive. Just some kid with nothing better to do. Drmies (talk) 17:12, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
- Some ip has also been posting all over the place. Geez. Mr.choppers | ✎ 02:28, 20 October 2019 (UTC)

- I like others had just had a message requesting help, I have no interest in sports, like others, if any genuine user needs help please see these links:

Other than the socking...
[edit](Various socks have been active on this article, and now IP editors are clanging pots on editor talk pages asking for help for the article)
Her career during high school is scattered across multiple paragraphs and years. It would be nice to sort these under the correct years at least. Shenme (talk) 02:48, 20 October 2019 (UTC)
One brand-new account User:Youngzx has been doing a few cold calls, including to myself, soliciting improvement of the article, along the lines described above and also in the below section of this talk. Of course "improvement" is the project's imperative so phrasing things this way could be a way of skirting the lobbying/promotional policy stuff. MinnesotanUser (talk) 07:12, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
- Well, sock it to me. (Tangentially, is it standard practice for someone to wade into someone else's user talk page and undo changes by a sock or suspected sock?) The Crab Who Played With The Sea (talk) 12:47, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
- It's fairly normal to rolling back sock edits, yes. This particular sock though has left thousands of such talk page messages, and is mass rolled back regularly. -- ferret (talk) 13:37, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'm not sure how I feel about someone undoing sock changes in my user talk page other than prior arrangement. Failing that, is there a way I can opt out from future third-party sock rollbacks on my user talk page, or is it up to me to undo any I don't agree with after the fact? (I'm not yet sure I'd use one if it exists, but knowing how to do that would be nice.) The Crab Who Played With The Sea (talk) 00:11, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
- All you could really do is put up a message you prefer others not to revert socks/vandalism on your user talk page, but there's no guarantee they'll see it when performing mass rollbacks like this sock requires. -- ferret (talk) 00:16, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
- I was asked to copy edit the article. Glad I looked here first. What to do? JAnnora2 (talk) 01:13, 31 December 2021 (UTC) Never mind, seeing edit requester User:Udem9 marked as "Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Haiyenslna". JAnnora2 (talk) 01:22, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
- Just noting that I also got an edit request, from Jilpz. I do sometimes get these since I work on bad translations, but was a bit baffled since I rarely touch Japan and never badminton. Chalking it u to who knows and moving on, given what I see here. Elinruby (talk) 07:27, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
- I got a similar talk page message from User:Semwq. Turns out it was even weirder than I thought... BuySomeApples (talk) 06:52, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
- Same user here too. Mine was just a spelling request so I did it anyway, but now I see they have the same exact pattern as the resident-sock. For the future, if an editor is clearly a sock, but has an apparent legitimate request, would the best thing to do be to discuss first or just make the edit with a very clear summary? Strangerpete (talk) 08:18, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
- See WP:PROXYING. The basic rule is, if the edit is something you would make on your own if you were editing the article, it's probably fine, but you shouldn't do the edit the sock asks without looking at it independently. Does it meet policy, undue weight, verification, etc, etc, etc. If the sock points out an obvious typo, feel free to fix it. I would recommend not directly engaging them otherwise though. -- ferret (talk) 14:51, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
- Understood, thank you. Strangerpete (talk) 18:22, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
- I was just asked for help for the second time. I guess its good that they realize it needs a copyedit, but isn't there a project somewhere that could be pointed at this article? My interest is very minimal and I am pretty busy with other things. Please remove me from this list lol. Elinruby (talk) 04:25, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

Some passages overly detailed
[edit]Many of the passages have overly detailed descriptions of AY's progress through tournaments etc. Please keep in mind that the article is about AY, not the tournaments. Of course they should be mentioned, but only in passing.
Please also note that if you copy-paste from a website then it will often import additional spaces between punctuation which need to be removed. The text should also be rephrased to avoid copyvio. Wayne 07:00, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
- User:Mühazinwiki left so much homework for the other editors. There were much mistakes in WP:MOS, WP:BLP, and WP:CS. I gave advice yesterday but User:Mühazinwiki repeating the same mistakes today. Maybe, if we find another mistakes made by by Mühazinwiki, we can revert all of the user contribution. cc: Fahrurozi.86, Zoglophie, Wayne Stvbastian (talk) 13:05, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Wayne aus: Text may not be copy-pasted from a website unless the source is compatible with the CC BY-SA copyright. WP:PARAPHRASING is not acceptable unless it is attributed (not just sourced, it also has to be clearly attributed as a paraphrase, as in "Wayne said that many passages are too detailed" would be OK from a non-CC-BY-SA-ed source, but not "Many passages of AY's progress are too detailed<ref>..</ref>."). The information content has to be processed through a human brain and summarised. See WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:PARAPHRASING for more details. (I came here because Trangdai4 pinged my talk page, but I don't generally edit sports pages.) Boud (talk) 06:54, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Boud: I am not promoting copy-pasting, rather, I am sick of cleaning it up. And I didn't say it doesn't have to be attributed. OUT. Wayne 14:21, 1 December 2021 (UTC)

Stop telling us to help with this article
[edit]Chill out with the copy edit help there. Instead of telling other users to help, why not WP:DOITYOURSELF? If the page is protected, why not just create an account? It’s easy and simple. You will just need edits to edit protected articles like this one. Thank you. Kaseng55 (talk) 06:33, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

Hi, Pls edit Akane 's World tour titles number. It's 15, and it's mentioned 14 over there. I've checked many times it's 15, I want to edit it, thanks in advance 556.DE.677.77 (talk) 15:30, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Please be more precise on where (like which section, table, sentence, etc) you want the changes to be made. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 11:14, 10 September 2023 (UTC)

Random invite to improve
[edit]Hello, I have no knowledge about Akane Yamaguchi. An anonymous IP user, 171.247.210.89 has reached out to me on my talk page, requesting assistance in enhancing the content of this page. I find it somewhat unclear. Does anyone have any information about this or suggestions on how I can contribute? Saurabh{Talk} 06:09, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
- I received the same. My interpretation is to make the article more readable. I reworked the lead but ran out of time for the moment to do anything further. Am I alone in thinking this article sounds like an essay to get a job? Best wishes, Jacqke (talk) 05:18, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
