[edit]Why has the Republican nominee's page been deleted? LordofChaos55 (talk) 20:16, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- @LordofChaos55: See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tim Sheehy (American politician) BottleOfChocolateMilk (talk) 02:46, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Good question. It was there five minutes ago and now it's gone. maybe related to this: https://archive.is/p8fta Barryparr (talk) 16:13, 10 August 2024 (UTC)
- It has nothing to do with any news story about the candidate, and everything to do with whether he meets notability guidelines. Simply being a candidate for office is insufficient for establishing notability. TheSavageNorwegian 16:41, 10 August 2024 (UTC)
- I do hope that if he wins and only IF he wins. Someone should save the information on that page and keep it. If he wins he will become a Senator-elect and any information and sources will be needed to be kept. I'm sure on that we can agree. Wollers14 (talk) 01:52, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thankfully, undeletion is a thing. Nothing is lost. :-) TheSavageNorwegian 14:34, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
- Nice! But here's a good question. Why does Bernie Moreno have an article while Sheehy's keeps getting deleted? Wollers14 (talk) 21:20, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
- Seems like a solid case of WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. I don't see why Bernie Moreno it should be around, but Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bernie Moreno resulted in keep. I think I would have voted for deletion. The closure summary mentions how discussion can restart in the talk page, so perhaps we should do just that. TheSavageNorwegian 15:21, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
- The AfD found consensus to keep the article only five months ago, and since then there has only been more and more coverage of Moreno. Admittedly the Delete voters weren't helped by follow-up comments which exclusively engaged with weak arguments and ignored actual coverage-based ones, but the coverage arguments pushed it over the line for GNG. Nominate it again if you so wish, but I wouldn't expect anything to change. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 20:50, 12 August 2024 (UTC)

- That's odd. Because the page was there before the news story came out. Suddenly it's deleted. He's a major party candidate senator from Montana, so there's a great deal of interest in who this person is right now. Also, this race is more significant than most US Senate elections, because it could determine which party controls the Senate. Why not delete the page after he loses, rather than before the election? Barryparr (talk) 20:36, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
- Anyone can create a Wikipedia article in mainspace, it's not a case that people were quietly trying to censor it or whatever. On the latter point, Wikipedia never has articles for people "in case" they win. If there's been increased coverage of Sheehy outside of the campaign as was found for Moreno, by all means go ahead and try recreate the article, though I haven't seen that. ser! - In contrast, if you are a Democratic Senate candidate that is a random environmental activist that skis and has no chance of winning you more than surpass the “notability guidelines”.
- Caroline Gleich 152.208.40.182 (talk) 10:49, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- Gleich is not notable because of her Senate candidacy, she's notable because of her career as an athlete. Her Wikipedia page was created in 2020, 4 years before she ever ran for office. If you disagree, feel free to nominate her page for deletion per the instructions here and we'll see how that goes for you. BottleOfChocolateMilk (talk) 17:22, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- "she became the first woman and fourth skier to ski all 90 lines of the Chuting Gallery, a series of skiing slopes in the Wasatch Mountains.[10] She summited Mount Everest with her husband in 2019, in an effort to promote gender equality in sports"
- How is this notable? I think Sheehy is much more notable as the likely senate winner (latest polling shows him winning 49/41). The next closest race is Ohio, but is more of a dead heat (45/44 leaning towards the Democrat). So sheehy will most likely be the 51st vote turning the Senate red. This has global implications. This is not not even in the same ballpark as someone who skis and climbed a big mountain (Since 1953, there have been 11,996 summits of Everest, Gleich is one out over 10k, big woop). I want more reliable information about Sheehy out there for people. This page needs to be undeleted. 71.201.179.3 (talk) 16:59, 7 September 2024 (UTC)

- Feel free to keep up the search for an image with a free license! I've been trying to find one for quite some time. I'm just glad there's *something* now. TheSavageNorwegian 18:03, 22 August 2024 (UTC)

[edit]What IS that candidate photo? LordofChaos55 (talk) 14:01, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- It's not Wikipedia's fault that nobody has bothered to take a good photo of Mr. Sheehy and release it to the public domain. LV ✉ ✎ 18:29, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
Rearrange with General Election section first?
[edit]I think this would be easier for readers to have the most notable information first as opposed to the historic information but I understand if other prefer chronological. Superb Owl (talk) 05:32, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
