Submission declined on 6 February 2025 by Bonadea (talk). This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

The Look Of The Year
[edit]The Look of the Year is a prestigious international fashion event that serves as a platform for identifying emerging models and showcasing the relationship between fashion creators, promoters, and professionals who wear it. Established in 1983, it has evolved into a key global competition that defines style and beauty standards each year. The event is held annually, involving more than 50 countries and attracting thousands of participants worldwide.[1]
History and Background
[edit]The Look of the Year was initially founded by Elite Model Look in 1983. However, after being acquired by the Cicirò brothers in 1995, it became an independent annual fashion modeling event, separate from Elite Model Look.[2] Over the years, it has played a crucial role in launching the careers of numerous successful models, including Cindy Crawford, Vanessa Incontrada, Nina Moric, Ines Sastre, Natasha Stefanenko, Gisele Bündchen, and Linda Evangelista. These models gained recognition and career opportunities through the event, making it a significant milestone in the fashion industry.[1][3]
From its inception, the competition has acted as a valuable resource for scouting future talents in the modeling industry. It has become a renowned platform for models to be discovered, while also drawing the attention of the fashion world, which includes renowned photographers, designers, and models. Some of the most celebrated professionals in the fashion industry have been involved with The Look of the Year, including Azzedine Alaïa, John Galliano, Patrick Demarchelier, Peter Lindbergh, Helmut Newton, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, and Glen Amber.[4]
Format and Selection Process
[edit]The selection process for The Look of the Year begins with the nomination of approximately 350,000 participants, ranging from ages 14 and above. The process narrows down to 50 finalists who compete in the world final. These finalists often receive career opportunities, with about 80% of them becoming professional models within two years after the competition.[5]
In each edition, affiliated model management agencies help to propose employment contracts to the finalists, connecting them with the fashion industry's top professionals. The competition aims to showcase the most promising new talents in the world of modeling.[6]
