Title(s) | Notes/Reasons | Developer | Publisher |
---|---|---|---|
Football Manager 25 | The 2025 iteration of the yearly Football Manager franchise was delayed twice before eventually being cancelled outright. The developers cited internal concerns about its quality, and that any further delays would move it too far the past the start of the current football season. The team instead deciding to cancel the game in favor of focusing on the 2026 iteration.[1][2] | Sports Interactive | Sega |
Hyenas | Hyenas was announced in 2022 as part of IGN's Summer of Gaming Event.[3] It was going to be a FPS game for Windows, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and was going to be a free-to-play similar to Fortnite and Apex Legends. In early August 2023, Sega executives publicly called Hyenas' development "challenging", raising the possibility it would be cancelled, and stated they would look at "adjusting" the game's business model, possibly to free-to-play. Its development was halted by Sega on September 28, 2023, along with multiple other unannounced games, due to "lower profitability of the European region". | Creative Assembly | Sega |
Second Extinction | An FPS game that was announced in May 2020. The Game was developed by Systemic Reaction, a newly formed self-publishing division of Avalanche Studios Group. The game was released for computer platforms, via Steam early access, on October 13, 2020. At the time, Systemic Reaction stated that the game still had a number of glitches which would be gradually corrected. The game would remain in early access for an undetermined amount of time while the issues were worked out and the game was released for Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on April 28, 2021, via Xbox Game Preview and Xbox Game Pass. The full game was scheduled to launch on Xbox and Windows platforms on October 20, 2022, but however, the release was delayed until the following month, and was later pushed back to 2023, but in October 2023, Systemic Reaction announced cancellation of the full launch, due to a lack of necessary resources to leave early access. The company stated that Second Extinction would be removed from sale, and that its early access servers would be shut down in 2024, making the game unplayable for those who purchased it. The game was cancelled due to the development team not having the resources to add an offline mode, which would have required significant changes to the game.[4] | Systemic Reaction | Systemic Reaction |
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Frontline | A new battle roayle genre for the Ghost Recon series that was announced back in October 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Google Stadia. The game was in development but it was cancelled due to the fans being disappointed about the games announcement.[5] | Ubisoft |
