Dusan Djordjev (Serbian: Dusan Djordjev; Macedonian: Dusan Gjorgjev, born January 06, 1996) is a Serbian and Northern Macedonian goalkeeper and coach known for his contributions to goalkeeper development. A former professional goalkeeper and a member of two national teams, he played at a high level before transitioning into coaching. He is currently the head goalkeeper coach at Phoenix Rising FC,[4] where he designs and implements specialized training programs for youth goalkeepers.

Playing Career

Dusan Djordjev began his career in Serbia, developing through Red Star youth academies before making his professional debut in FK Dinamo Pancevo. Over the years, he played for several clubs, showcasing his skills in domestic leagues and international competitions.

Throughout his career, Djordjev played as a goalkeeper in Serbia, North Macedonia, and internationally, gaining experience in competitive leagues. His strong shot-stopping ability, command of the penalty area, and leadership on the field earned him recognition.

Goalkeeper Coaching Career

Dusan Djordjev has established a successful coaching career, beginning at Oklahoma Wesleyan University, where he served as the goalkeeper coach for both the men's and women's teams. During his tenure, he developed All-American goalkeepers, implementing training programs that significantly improved their skills and overall performance. His experiences at the collegiate level laid the foundation for his coaching philosophy and techniques, enabling him to transition seamlessly into higher levels of coaching.

Following his time at Oklahoma Wesleyan, Dusan joined Phoenix Rising FC as the head goalkeeper coach. In this role, he has worked with national team goalkeepers on the girls' side and developed two full-time keepers on the boys' MLS Next side, who train alongside professional PRFC teams. His contributions were instrumental in enhancing the goalkeeping unit, which played a crucial role in the team's accomplishments, including winning the USL Championship 17 January 2023. while assisting Cory Robertson, the first team goalkeeper coach.

Dusan is also committed to nurturing the next generation of goalkeepers. He specializes in developing youth players, providing them with opportunities to train alongside professional and national team goalkeepers. This unique experience allows young athletes to gain valuable insights into high-level competition and refine their skills.

In addition to youth development, Dusan trains professional goalkeepers at Phoenix Rising FC, drawing on his extensive experience and expertise to enhance their technical abilities and game performance. His coaching career has not only enriched his own understanding of the game but has also equipped him with the skills necessary to guide others effectively.

In 2024, Dusan expanded his coaching experience by working with Barça Residency Academy,[19] FC Barcelona's premier youth development program in the United States. He was selected to lead two Barça Camps (June 2–7, 2024, and July 3–5, 2024), where his coaching expertise and leadership were instrumental in the program's success. His work with FC Barcelona's youth development programs[20] further cemented his reputation as an elite goalkeeping coach.

Personal life

Dusan Djordjev is married to his wife, Vanja, and they have two children together.[citation needed] He is fluent in three languages: English, Serbian, and Northern Macedonian.[citation needed] He graduated from Oklahoma Wesleyan University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and Leadership.[citation needed] He also holds a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis in Finance.[citation needed] Dusan is a citizen of both Serbia and Northern Macedonia.[citation needed]
