Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2024 November 11
New navbox with no main article and no red links in the body. I looked around for applicable articles and did not find anything useful. Diving (sport)#National championships, for example, does not contain any blue links to articles. British Diving Championships exists, but it, like many articles about swimming and diving at a national level, is basically a stub. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:36, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Template:Alid rebellions (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
Unused navigation template. If the pages on this need a navbox, they should use Template:Alids. Also, there is no place in navigation template for prose text like this. Gonnym (talk) 11:39, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose I was about to add the template to relevant pages in the next few days. The argument of lumping all together into a single template on the Alids is a different discussion, but there is no rule either way, and the Alid rebellions are a significant political and military phenomenon that can easily stand alone in a navbox. There is also no rule against prose text if it serves to give context rather than confuse the reader. Constantine ✍ 18:47, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Well over 2 months unused does not seem you were about to add it anywhere. Regardless, navboxes are for links and not prose text. Prose text requires citations per WP:V and citations also do not belong in navboxes. Text like
Revolt of Mukhtar al-Thaqafi (685–687)
which do not link to the revolt but links to the person is also a MOS:EGG link. This navbox while titled "rebellions" seems to only have 2 links of that nature. Gonnym (talk) 19:40, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

Unused style template. Gonnym (talk) 11:32, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Delete: To be honest, I don't really remember why I created that - {{737 MAX series}} looks fine already, and the TemplateStyles are unused. '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talk • contribs) 12:06, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

Unused as 2025 Philippine Senate election doesn't use it. If it should be used there than subst it and delete template. Gonnym (talk) 11:30, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Move to draftspace: As of this time, the Philippines' COMELEC has released the initial list of candidates for now, and I am planning to trim down or add names there once the list is final. This template is hidden in 2025 Philippine Senate election for now because there is a warning in the page that once the list is final, this template can be unhidden. Thank you. - Move to draftspace as per WhiteStar2000 or delete for now. We should probably have a final list by January 2025 and by then it should be recreated/moved to mainspace. By that time it would then be used in at least 2 articles, later 3 or more. Howard the Duck (talk) 22:07, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- Template:2010–11 Conference USA women's basketball standings (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
- Template:2011–12 Conference USA women's basketball standings (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
- Template:2012–13 Conference USA women's basketball standings (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
Unused Conference USA women's basketball standings templates. There are no articles for the seasons so nowhere to place this on. Gonnym (talk) 11:26, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
Unused sidebar. Seems to duplicate Template:WPOCopyright, which itself is barely used. Gonnym (talk) 10:56, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

Unused and not used at the page the documentation says it is used at. Gonnym (talk) 10:55, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

- Template:My (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
Unnecessary wrapper of {{lang}}. We're moving away from specific templates for each language as they require an additional maintenance burden and are less flexible. See similar discussion for lang-?? templates. Replace usages with {{lang|my}}
and delete template after. Gonnym (talk) 03:14, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Delete per this 2019 TFD and this 2020 follow-up TFD. This one appears to have been missed at this useful table (linked from the 2019 TFD) because it did not have a corresponding {{my icon}} template. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:44, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Delete per nom. 三葉草 San Yeh Tsao 04:28, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
