Welcome

[edit]

Hi ZoFreX, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for joining the coolest online encyclopedia I know of. I hope you stick around. You'll probably find it easiest to start with a tutorial of how the wikipedia works, and you can test stuff for yourself in the sandbox. Check out the simplified ruleset. When you're contributing, you'll probably find the manual of style to be helpful, and you'll also want to remember a couple important guidelines.

  1. Write from a neutral point of view
  2. Be bold in editing pages
  3. Use wikiquette.

Those are probably the most important ones, and you can take a look at some others at the policies and guidelines page. You might also be interested in how to write a great article and possibly adding some images to your articles.

Be sure to get involved in the community – you can contact me on my talk page if you have any questions, and you can check out the village pump, where lots of wikipedians hang out and discuss things. If you're looking for something to do, check out the community portal. And whenever you ask a question or post something on a talk page, be sure to sign your name by typing 4 tildes like ~~~~. Always sign the talk page, never the articles.

Again, welcome! It's great to have you. Happy editing!May the Force be with you! Shreshth91($ |-| r 3 $ |-| t |-|)

WikiProject V8 Supercars

[edit]

Hi, I was having a look at some of your edits and thought you might like to join WikiProject V8 Supercars. I know a bit about templates, but you see quite qualified in that department and could be valuable to important areas of our project. Let me know what you think. All the best, TydeNet 03:36, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

[edit]

Hey man, didn't realise you were into Wikipedia. I found your page in the template coder category. Out of curiosity, did you see the userbox on my page and add it, or find it through Help? Just interested because I set the whole thing up, it was quite coincidental. -- Alfakim --  talk  01:09, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I found it through help, had no idea you made it (thanks!) or that you were on Wikipedia. Hi! :D ZoFreX 15:58, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article request

[edit]

Hi James,

Been having a look at the Key Skills Qualification article, specifically the last section. Is it just me, or does it seem biased and unencyclopaedic? If so, should it be flagged in some way as in need of attention or somesuch? Still testing the water with this whole wikipedia malarky...

Thought the article made a good point or two...remember General Studies? lol

Cheers, Chris. --Chrisd87 22:42, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Template question

[edit]

I saw you listed in the category template designers, so I'm hoping you can help me. Do you know how to incorporate the four-tilde signature into templates? The thing is, I have a template that generates a talk page warning contained within a frame, but when I use it, I have to write it like this: {{subst:User:Kafziel/vandal}} ~~~~. That puts my signature outside the box, which doesn't look so hot. How can I set it up so I can separate the main template from my signature with a "|" and have the whole thing contained within the brackets (so it reads {{subst:User:Kafziel/vandal|~~~~}})?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give. Kafziel 15:43, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help request

[edit]

As a fellow law student, would you like to help by reviewing the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998? I'd much appreciate your efforts if you did. I might not be online for a few days, but I shall endeavour to reply the messages posted on my talk page. Regards, --Andy123(talk) 13:09, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Paasive Aggressive

[edit]

I agree with you entirely. Sometimes, one can only fight fire with fire... As for examples of passive aggressive behaviour, here's a classic: "Your argument that sometimes the user "deserved" a personal attack does you no credit either." Trusting that you won't take this the wrong way, but ultimately not caring particularly if you do: Don't be a dick. ElectricRay 22:52, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Batman wikiparody 03.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Batman wikiparody 03.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:53, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Striking your vote

[edit]

Hello ZoFreX,

Thank you for your interest in the Wikimedia Board Election. The Election Committee regretfully informs you that your previous vote was received in error and will be struck according to the election rules, described below.

The Election Committee regretfully announces today that we will have to remove approximately 220 votes submitted. These votes were cast by people not entitled to vote. The election rules state that users must have at least 400 edits by June 1 to be eligible to vote.

The voter lists we sent to Software in the Public Interest (our third party election partner) initially were wrong, and one of your account was eventually included to our initial list. There was a bug in the edit counting program and the sent list contained every account with 201 or more edits, instead of 400 or more edits. So large numbers of people were qualified according to the software who shouldn't be. The bug has been fixed and an amended list was sent to SPI already.

Our first (and wrong) list contains 80,458 accounts as qualified. The proper number of qualified voters in the SPI list is now 52,750. As of the morning of July 4 (UTC), there are 2,773 unique voters and 220 people, including you, have voted who are not qualified based upon this identified error.

In accordance with voting regulations the Election Committee will strike those approximately 220 votes due to lack of voting eligibility. The list of struck votes is available at https://wikimedia.spi-inc.org/index.php/List_of_struck_votes.

We are aware of the possibility that some of the people affected may have other accounts with more than 400 edits, and hence may still be eligible to vote. We encourage you to consider voting again from another account, if you have one. If you have no other account eligible to vote, we hope you reach the criteria in the next Election, and expect to see your participation to the future Elections.

Your comments, questions or messages to the Committee would be appreciated, you can make them at m:Talk:Board elections/2007/en. Other language versions are available at m:Translation requests/Eleccom mail, 07-05.

Again, we would like to deeply apologize for any inconvenience.

Sincerely,
Kizu Naoko

Hey

I was reading through your page and noticed your quote about people thinking you're arrogant. I have to say it made me laugh. I find that with me, people see me as rude when I tell them things; but I'm not, they are just not as gifted as I am.

How do you cope with this, do you limit your circle of friends? I've found recently that friends only hold you back anyway, who needs them.

What's even more refreshing is that you are a CS student. I studied CS at Bath. I loved every second of it. You're Java knowledge looks hot stuff from your project. I love Java, although haven't had a chance to work with it recently. Did you know it was named after Java coffee??

Nice talking
