Strawbs 'n' such
[edit]Hi Witchwooder, I see you recently made a mod to the Jade Warrior article. Glyn Havard is a relative of mine. Then you've made a million mods to Strawbs articles. I was just talking to those guys a couple of months ago. Dave Lambert was saying that US Customs was giving Chas Cronk a hard time about the extra strings he was carrying because they can be used to strangle somebody. (I think I'm remembering that story correctly.) Varlaam 23:05, 23 September 2007 (UTC) (in Toronto)
- Hi Varlaam, yes I made lots of edits to correct the "Electric bass" links on various pages (like your relative, I'm a bass player too!). lol re strawbs story - the guys are very approachable aren't they? I spoke to Chas after an acoustic strawbs gig - a very nice and unassuming gent - not the type to go in for murder! Witchwooder 07:24, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Flags
[edit]Hi. I was interested in this edit you made to the Strawbs article. In what way is " England" superior to "England"? WP:FLAG is a well-developed essay which explains more about why such use of flags is unhelpful. --John 19:18, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. I would emphasise that WP:FLAG is not (yet) policy, but, while I like flags very much, I have found that their use in instances like this engenders nationalistic edit warring which far outweighs any small aesthetic contribution to articles. Best wishes, --John 19:34, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Railway templates
[edit]Hi, I've seen your comments on the MNR article's talk page. Will address those there.
With reference to only using blue for metro or light railway systems, I was not aware that this was set in stone, and was being 'bold by using the different colours for different things. See the Réseau des Bains de Mer article for an extreme example. As long as a legend is included so that is is obvious what each colour represents there shouldn't be a problem. Michael. [edit]Hi Witchwooder, yes the Corris Station plan was my own work created using Visio. I'm using OmniGraffle for my more recent maps, I've switched over to OmniGraffle. Best, Gwernol 10:58, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Rock music WikiProject
[edit]I'd like to invite you to join the newly-formed Rock music WikiProject. There's alot of Rock-related articles on Wikipedia that could use a little attention, and I hope this project can help organize an effort to improve them. So please, take a look and if you like what you see, help us get this project off the ground and a few Rock music pages into the front ranks of Wikipedia articles. Thanks! --Be Black Hole Sun (talk) 08:54, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice
[edit]Hi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Angband (band)
[edit]Hello sir, I created an article about Angband, but It was deleted. once the creator claimed they are the first metal band from Iran to sign a deal with a European records company but didnt have enough sources, I have many sources like: www.lordsofmetal.nl , www.stormbringer.at , www.localradio.pehzeh.net www.metal-rules.com and their album has a good feedback, I created a page in my sandbox: User:Spada2/Sandbox would you please take a look at it and the question I have: can I create the page not mentioning the first band thing due to their positive feedbacks? Thanks in advance --Spada2 (talk) 06:42, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm not sure that I'm really qualified to answer this question! My advice would be to be bold and publish your article - but first take a look at some articles about heavy metal bands to get some ideas about formatting and linking them. Also address the issues raised in the previous speedy deletion message. If you've not already done so, talk to a few more wikimusic contributors first as well. Best of luck! West Cheshire Railway
[edit]Hello Witchwooder!
Thank you for your kind reply to the new article - sorry if I 'trespassed' onto your territory! I just happened to notice the gap in coverage of the lines in Cheshire! I also noticed the good article on the Winsford & Over line, which you initiated. I sometimes think it's possible to have a 'good un' on a smaller more maneagable subject, as one can cover the ground in more detail than for say the LNWR! Having said that, the CLC article needs a fair amount of attention. Will try as time permits.
Please don't hesitate to improve the WCR article in any way you see fit. Collaboration is always beneficial. In particular, I do not have the skills to prepare a line diagram, or to do anything other than provide 'straight narrative'.
I note your interest in the Corris Railway. Must confess to having driven past it en route to Machynlleth for a steam trip on the Cambrian Coast, but didnt stop as it was not an open day. Will try to fit in a proper visit next year.
Regards RuthAS
Oops - forgot the 'tildes'! RuthAS (talk) 10:54, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
PS
The 'W & O' article almost merits an upgrading from Start-Class. To justify this, could you add a few more 'in-text' references, giving specific page numbers from your Bibliography? If necessary, refer to the WCR piece for ideas. RuthAS (talk) 11:05, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
If you will add some more in-text references I will upgrade your W&O article from 'Start Class' RuthAS (talk) 22:40, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Middlewich railway station
[edit]Hi Witchwooder! I've only just seen your note re the "Beeching Axe". I've checked with a reliable reference source, and find that you're right - he was not appointed as BRB chairman until 1962. Will remember that - and delete reference from the article. Thanks for 'sorting me out' on that one! RuthAS (talk) 22:40, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- You're welcome Ruth - Beeching is an overly maligned figure in my opinion - Marples was the real villain! Best Witchwooder (talk) 08:27, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Regarding Hero and Heroine Album
[edit]sorry if i came a lil late, i just saw your comment in the template tracklist article, so i came here in case you might never get to see my comment.
Anyways, i just wanted to ask if it's 3 versions of the same song in one track , or just 3 different tracks with the the same name, only different version. if so, then you can easily place that in tracklist format.Bread Ninja (talk) 16:05, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hi thanks for your posting. I was trying to accomodate sections within a song. Another example would be the song "Supper's Ready" on Genesis's Foxtrot album. That song has a number of sections within it. In that article a different approach has been used. In the Court of the Crimson King shows yet another method. My point was that the template doesn't offer a simple and consistent way of displaying this sort of info. Best Witchwooder (talk) 08:20, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
for foxtrot, i'm not so sure. put only the inforamtion that it's suppose to have, if there are other versions or included in other media, than it's nto necessary to add u nless it relates to that very article.
as for In the Court of the Crimson King, i see various names, look up which one did the lyrics, the music, and the writing in order to place them in such. there's also extra for sections that are usefulBread Ninja (talk) 19:23, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Sheila Chandra
[edit]Hi, I see you were a major contributor to Third Eye (album) and I was wondering if you would like to help me with Chandra, Steve Coe, Indipop Records, etc? I'm trying to update and complete the topic. - Stillwaterising (talk) 23:44, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, I will help as much as I can but, apart from owning the CD's, I know very little! Best Witchwooder (talk) 09:04, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- That helps a lot actually because you should have access to the liner notes. I need an accounting of what role Smith and Coe play in Sheila Chandra's solo career. I've been informed that the Ganges Orchestra was formed in part because those two musicians were forbidden to play with Chandra because of contractual concerns with their former label Phonogram (aka Polygram/Mercury). - Stillwaterising (talk) 11:44, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- I'm also working on User:Stillwaterising/Steve Coe and User:Stillwaterising/Ever So Lonely (song). - Stillwaterising (talk) 13:56, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
You are now a Reviewer
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 20:11, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Witchwooder! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot notifying you on behalf of the the unreferenced biographies team that 1 of the articles that you created is currently tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 329 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. [edit]Hi. When you recently edited The Last Legion (novel), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Britain, Celtic and Venetian (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

[edit]The article Barclay James Harvest (album) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
allmusic is reliable but the liner notes, band website, and ordering website are not. The band may be notable and even this album might have charted, but if there are no other secondary independent sources that discuss this album in depth then this would fail WP:GNG/WP:N.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Sikonmina (talk) 06:20, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
