Hello there thank you for the Wiki smile thing :-) regarding Saskatchewan roads. It was awesome. It made me indeed smile, so...

Please do not put in incorrect voice actors, as you did to Finding Nemo. It is considered vandalism, and I hate it. Thank you. --Jonghyunchung 11:44, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was simply undoing a previous case of vandalism. Just check the page history, and compare my edit to the one before mine. Ultraflame 15:11, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Before nominating {{SK Expressways}} for deletion, I just want someone to verify that this template contains all the highways it should. It's completely redundant to {{Saskatchewan Provincial Highways}}, which actually bolds all of them, so it's not useful for navigation on those highways' articles. –Pomte 16:31, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there Ultraflame.

A Barnstar!
The Canadian Content Award

I was having a look see around and about...This is for outstanding contributions to Canadian related pages on Wikipedia. Wow! Have you ever written a lot of articles!!! You have really contributed an amazing amount of work! SriMesh
Thank you very much. I have been busy lately, so I have not had much time to work on the project, but at least the Project has had major progress since last year. Thank you, again. Ultraflame 22:41, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Saskatchewan WikiProject

[edit]

Hello. Guess what!?! A new WikiProject about Saskatchewan has been started as an attempt to better organize information in articles related to the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. If you would like to participate, you can edit Saskatchewan articles, add Saskatchewan content, or visit the project page, where you can join / edit the project and/or contribute to the discussion. WikiProject Saskatchewan

You kept the Sk Roads project going !! There are so many other category articles online about SK but some of the others which are not a part of the SK road project seem to be a little lost, as not all have article talk page assessments or categories.---So we'll see what a WP SK can do to find them. ;-) SriMesh|talk Julia 04:14, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You recently started this article, and I nominated it to be a DYK, and it went on. Thanks for everything you do on the highways pages, your content looks so concise and well presented. SriMesh | talk 01:16, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

There are some newly uploaded images, would they be of any use on any Sk Hwys Pages? I am not sure what kind of image would be of import on these types of pages.... See this category SK traffic sign images... I wish more that are still on the camera would have been in better focus, these are the better focused ones...which might be of use. SriMesh | talk 01:48, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest putting most of those images in the "Images" sections of their respective highway pages. Ultraflame 01:54, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Saskatchewan Portal Creation Drive
  • Please comment about the formation of a new concept - a Saskatchewan Portal

Take a peek at the Canadian Portal. There are four provinces, BC, ON, PQ, and Nunavut. There are also four Canadian cities with portals of their own as well.

Portals are pages intended to serve as "Main Pages" for specific topics or areas. Portals may be associated with one or more WikiProjects; unlike WikiProjects, however, they are meant for both readers and editors of Wikipedia, and should promote content and encourage contribution.[1]

A unique concept by Portal India was to add a quiz as well India/Quiz

Portals introduce the Wikipedia reader to new developments by the wikiproject showing selected biographies, articles, pictures to feature periodically, and archive the previous suggestions. The portal may list information introducing the portal subject, categories, did you know, to do, other wikiprojects and news features as well.

Whereas Wikipedia:WikiProject Saskatchewan is an organization created to promote Saskatchewan usage and participation in Saskatchewan article editing and development.

  • The Academics and alumni articles have been created to assist the U of S article
  • Category sorting - more to do - ensure all articles are within a category/multiple categories.
    • Photographs on Wiki commons have been resorted into categories and subcategories.
  • Prepare a welcome/invitation template for recruiting potential members
  • Create new articles (e.g. Sports in Saskatchewan, Health in Saskatchewan)...
    • Sports in Saskatchewan is a newly created article, and is receiving help from afield to further the sections and edit copy.
  • Associate famous personalities to their home communities (e.g. Lorne Babiuk to Canora, Saskatchewan)...
    • As New articles are created check the wiki link at the bottom of the article title 'What Links Here. Here related articles and biographies are listed which should have reciprocal links or information upon the newly created main article page.
  • Geographical classification of Saskatchewan (consensus needed, e.g according to Weather Canada/Environment Canada)
    • Discussion is invited to help organize the areas of the Saskatchewan Wikiproject.

Original Reporter - Victor D PARLE

What's New?

Northern Saskatchewan Focus' For the northern areas of Saskatchewan these are newly created articles: Ajawaan Lake, Nistowiak Falls. There are major expansions made to Prince Albert National Park, Churchill River. These are primarily natural areas, landforms etc. If others have this interest, there is a lot to do such as obvious entries such as Lac La Ronge (and the provincial Saskatchewan parks ), and some of the famous lakes in the north, some named for explorers and fur traders. Saskatchewan Roads and Highways Red links to Saskatchewan roads

When looking through some Saskatchewan Highway articles (especially those containing intersection lists), you may notice that there are red links to potential Saskatchewan road articles (especially Range and Township Roads). However, many of these roads do not appear on the List of Saskatchewan provincial roads. If you happen to read over any highway articles, and you notice a red link to a road that does not appear on the provincial roads list, please add the road's name to the appropriate section on that list. Eventually, I believe that we will have a list of all known Saskatchewan rural roads. Thank you. Ultraflame | talk 01:35, 7 August 2007

Newsletter

[edit]

Almost time again for another newsletter.... Wikipedia:WikiProject Saskatchewan/Newsletter/September 2007 has been begun, too soon for delivery yet, the first week into the month works not too badly I think. Just thought I would give you a sneak peek, so you could start to feel out where the highways routes are heading. I randomly picked a few highway articles to include on the to do area of the new portal. Have a peek, and add a things to do complete article for Sk highways if you wish to.... filled up with stubs to expand / articles to create what have you...see this page...Saskatchewan/Things to do Oh my goodness is autumn coming up that soon?!?SriMesh | talk 05:08, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will await your note, in that case, before delivery of the newsletter, so that all can be informed of the latest breaking news in this case. I have taken the automatic dating off the template insert. Hopefully all goes well, best regards in all your efforts. SriMesh | talk 02:59, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Add my two cents worth here and there (one place I think it is more like 4 cents )  :-) , and contacted user NE2 for their assistance on how they proceed with their road/highway articles of the U.S.A.... and started a stub article about one of the road articles in question on the Talk page...Grasswood Road, Saskatchewan, but it is too late to do more than a very rough outline which doesn't do the road much justice as of yet, even forgot to add the hamlet of Furdale, and the hamlet of Grasswood. Hope to get back at it soon. SriMesh | talk 05:01, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what to do about the all of this and the deletions of user NE2. Some of the roads are less notable than others. I don't think too much one way or the other about the roads articles, it took quite a lot of time to set up the list article but pshaw, if it isn't wanted, it isn't wanted on wikipedia. Big huge notable things seems to be also a wiki thing, and supporting things are not. Are you going to save the awesome work you did on the template and break it down like they suggest at Navigational templates. I suppose finding other templates which were that size didn't support another, and it does seem like your first hunch to make itsy bitsy navigational templates, is more the wiki norm. It would be nice to save the template, as they do seem to be handy devices, and contribute to the norm and editing is done in a central place. Sorry about my note when you were creating the template when I cited the Mb one. Tis a weird place this wikipedia. Promoting articles to higher status, tis hard to get votes. Creating new articles tis hard to find enough editors for the multitudes which need doing. Deleting articles attracts a bizzilion trizzillion editors like flies to honey and very quickly. Tis a very weird phenomena, and usually the deletionists are not even local to the article topic, as I surf around peeking here and there. But cést la vie. There is always something else to do. SriMesh | talk 04:39, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure about doing anything with the Navigational templates, but if the template is deleted, I will save a copy of it somewhere. Should the list of Saskatchewan roads be deleted, I will also save a copy of that. Ultraflame 03:43, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am glad to hear you will save your work on the templates. I saved the list of Saskatchewan Roads, and put a note to change the name of it...as per deletion page. I started the Saskatchewan Roads article, and from there, hopefully a theory about notablity of roads can be developed ( I suggested on the deletion page some A,B,C to consider) , as there are some famous roads in SK, and some roads which really really should be highways, and highways which aren't maintained which have become roads. I will try to add more to the Saskatchewan Roads article portion over the next couple of days so long as the deletionist frenzy doesn't make it all go away into never never land. SriMesh | talk 05:36, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again Well, I worked on the List of Saskatchewan provincial roads, and not Grasswood Road, Saskatchewan and now Grasswood Road, Saskatchewan is gone...  :-( It is too bad, I am pretty sure Grasswood Road will soon be annexed by the City of Saskatoon, and within the City's plans for the proposed second ring road or circle drive road which is in the planning department as we speak and these plans are online as PDF files. I have pics of the ongoing construction of Clarence and Lorne Avenue which are being widened all the way south of the city to Grasswood, to accomodate the new Whitecap golf course and casino, which are increasing road traffic as well as the new city subdivisions south of Circle Drive, and the other new site is the Chief Whitecap Park. Grasswood business centre is also growing by leaps and bounds now that the drive in is gone, and that land is freed up. I didn't get a chance to add any of this, as I spent too long on the other article, as well as on the university of Sask article which is under peer review, and also needs tweaks. I thought an under construction sign would save Grasswood Road as I had to go out of town on the long week-end. I believe Grasswood is a TMS road and as such is maintained by the provincial government department: Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation. It sure isn't a rural grid gravel road which would be maintained by the RM of Corman Park I took pictures of Grasswood Road, on the way out of town, but now tis of no avail. Ah well. I am not sure if it is worthwhile uploading them now. (However, I got a picture of an original Dominion Land Survey road allowance, which I will put online soon-getting late tonight.) I added another comment to the deletion entry page about the article started at the top of the list page regarding a new article name proposal....and then maybe the article can list notable roads at the bottom of the article like the Ireland wikipedia article.
Hello there...We will publish just that...that there is a lot going on...good luck with your school! That is so important, and congratulations for being able to do studies, and contribute so ever so much to Wiki roads! That is amazing. When things settle into schedules, it will be easier again, and things will also probably settle online also.SriMesh | talk 02:35, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did you want to add a highway article to October. I mooshed a little into the section, but if you would prefer - you are the SK highway liason - perhaps what you would like to highlight would be better. Would you like to add an October highway blurb?

I have updated the next newsletter for October, as there is a bit of a rush to get Louis Riel fixed to remain at feature article status. Would it be possible to add a few items to the newsletter, so it can hit the press at the beginning of October, rather than the first week into October? New Template Saskatchewan

    • AT Bot requests, another very kind user has also offered to help with the transition process (Thank you also to Ρх₥α )

The request conglomerated together the following tasks to help show the quantity / quality of Saskatchewan related articles:

    1. tag all articles in Category:Saskatchewan and all of its subcategories with {{WikiProject Canada |sk = | class=| importance=}} and if {{WikiProject Canada | class=| importance=}} already exists, then can just |sk=yes be added to the Canada template?
    2. all articles which have a Saskatchewan related stub Saskatchewan-politician-stub / Saskatchewan-stub / Saskatchewan-geo-stub to be tagged in their talk pages for wikiproject Saskatchewan and be classified as stub as such: {{WikiProject Canada |sk =yes | class=stub| importance=}}
    3. add GA or FA to to the class parameter of {{WikiProject Canada}} articles if any other template has such a parameter value on the talk page.
    4. add stub to the class parameter if a stub tag is present on the article page.
    5. Replace the old tag {{Saskatchewanproject}} with the new parent wikiproject tag: {{WikiProject Canada |sk =yes | class=| importance=}} and if {{WikiProject Canada | class=| importance=}} already exists, then can just |sk=yes be added to the Canada template?
    6. add to the class area FL for any Featured-class lists articles if any other template has such a parameter value on the talk page.
    7. add to the class area List if the Saskatchewan related item in category:Saskatchewan articles if any other template has such a parameter value on the talk page.

Watch Arctic Gnome's assessment table worklist for progression undertaken by Ρх₥α. It is a very exciting time. Please take a moment to send an award or other recognition

    1. Develop a bizzilion awesome articles about Saskatchewan so the WWW visitor is wowed by our province ( and survive those silly AFD tags!!! ) SriMesh | talk 02:47, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    2. Add your one or several Wikiproject New Years Resolutions here!
    3. Develop quality articles. Increase the amount of good and Featured articles about Saskatchewan related content.
    4. Develop top importance articles about Saskatchewan such as those about crown corporations. the provincial government and its several departments. From the Saskatchewan wiki meeting held back on 23 June 2007 it was discussed to develop an article on Health in Saskatchewan, and to improve to feature status articles: Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Regina.
    5. The University of Saskatchewan became a good article to celebrate the 2007 anniversary of campus, and should now have a peer reveiw to continue on to becoming a feature article. The List of University of Saskatchewan alumni was developed to assist this article and help would be appreciated providing citations for each entry, and to help add to the list.

    Highway Picture Template

    • Just as there is only one image needed for upload for Saskatchewan locator maps, and then various towns can be updated upon this image. So, too there should be a highway picture template, so that the various numbered highways 1, 33, 34, 58, 913, 914, etc can all have their own image without needing to create a bizzilion numbered images online.

    2004 Election

    • Our 2004 Saskatchewan election has resulted in an amazing number of politician biographies coming online! This was an awesome achievement, and something to be proud of!
    • Qyd (talk · contribs) and Arctic.gnome (talk · contribs) are editors of a wide variety of Canadian related articles, and of note as of this date is the enormous amount of work they have undertaken to help amalgamate all the various provincial wikiprojects and Canadian sub projects into one umbrella assessment department. This unique assessment department means that Saskatchewan related articles can be assessed for their own provincial merit, and also belong to the Canadian wikiproject as well. It also means that editors from both Canada wikiproject and Saskatchewan wikiproject can unite in their efforts to provide banners and ratings to articles. This will result in a huge improvement in quality on wikipedia, resulting in Saskatchewan's spotlight award for Qyd (talk · contribs). January 2008 newsletter Please pop into the Spotlight Department and read all the brief introductory Wikipedia Saskatchewan bio. Congratulations are sent out to Qyd (talk · contribs)] and Arctic.gnome (talk · contribs) at this time.

    The Editor's Desk

    Welcome and Happy New Year!:

    • Just as panic begins to settle in as to what in the world the next newsletter should mention, new areas of development and growth come about. The coming year of 2008 should provide not only more Saskatchewan articles, but also more articles with higher ratings with the assistance of more editors, and a new assessment department umbrella. The highways and roads project has given a good base for development, and to strengthen the presence and notability of roads and highways and effort is being called upon to help these articles improve, now that they too are under the assessment umbrella.

    Saskatchewan Roads and Highways

Saskatchewan Roads and Highways The WikiProject Canada Roads is undergoing an overhaul. It is aiming to produce some Good articles and Featured articles of highway content pertaining to Canada, and for the Saskatchewan Roads and Highways for Saskatchewan highways. As Saskatchewan is still a work in progress this is a challenging endeavour for as the guidelines are followed as laid out at either Highway wikiproject, they become red link farms because wikilinked articles have not been developed regarding the communities, provincial and regional parks and rural municipalities which the highways meander through. Please keep apprised of the progress, and if any Saskatchewan articles rise above stub we will list it on the main page.

There is also discussion started about assessment and navigation boxes on the talk page. Please peek in to add any comments you may have.

If you want to add your name as a particpant to the Canada Roads wikiproject [here]. To join the Saskatchewan Roads wikiproject sign on the main here please.

Recently articles Saskatchewan Highway 1, 33, 34, 58, 913, 914 have been improved, but they need more help so they can become articles nominated as Good articles. Please help out if you are able, even to create community and rural municipality articles for these Highway articles would be an enormous help.

To keep updated on proposals, deletion debates, etc. add {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada Roads/News}} or {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada Roads/News|right}} to your userpage to produce the box of notices in the above right. See this page for new areas of discussion: talk page WP SK roads

    • Welcome
    • We’re excited to announce that User:Presidentman has joined WikiProject Saskatchewan as our Editor in Chief. Presidentman will oversee editorial content and the Saskatchewan Wikiproject community contributions on the Wikiproject newsletter. Presidentman has also successfully developed the Picture of the Day project and has been active on wikipedia for close to three years in a plethora of projects enriching wikipedia with close to 3,000 contributions. The transition between our old editor and the new has been smoother than any of us could have hoped for — SriMesh wrote their last newsletter article for January, 2010, and Presidentman started up without missing a beat for February 2010. The previous years for SriMesh, the past editor, had been richly rewarding, seeing subscriptions grow, informing interested editors of developments and changes to the Saskatchewan wikipedia community and supporting activities on the Saskatchewan Wikiproject. It is now time for me to move to new writing projects to finish, and further responsibilities which are vying for my attention. Please join me in welcoming Presidentman to the their new position! Presidentman is working on a host of new features and an updated look, which will take things to a new level. It is wonderful to have a new editor to bring in the new year! Expect great things.
    Welcome Presidentman, and best wishes!
Your wonderful act of kindness to take on editorial capacity of the Saskatchewan Wikiproject news letter is much appreciated! Thank you so much!!!

    Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New 10,000 Challenge for Canada

    [edit]

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Cheers. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Notice

The article 8th Street East, Saskatoon has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not enough in-depth sourcing to meet either WP:GNG or WP:GEOROAD, been tagged for 8 years without improvement.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
