Vinci & Arty
[edit]Thanks for your words at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vinci & Arty. I think Vidyaranya took things a little personally, it being their first article (about something they cared a lot about), and things kinda snowballed from there. Still, at least the article found a home on WikiFur. GreenReaper 04:32, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks kindly. I enjoy the comic myself, but the points made were quite valid about the article. I need to peek around at WikiFur myself, may have an article or two to contribute eventually.Tony Fox 05:22, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
WikiProject Vancouver
[edit]
Welcome to WikiProject Vancouver! Hello, Tony Fox/archive1, and welcome to WikiProject Vancouver! I'm glad you have decided to join our group of Vancouver-based Wikipedians, which is growing all the time. Be sure to stop by the WikiProject page for any updates or if you want to see how you can help out -- we keep a "to do" list there, and we'd appreciate any help we can get. Greater Vancouver is a very happening place and hopefully, with your help, we can increase its presence here on Wikipedia and show the world what this beautiful corner of Canada is all about. Again, welcome! I hope we see or hear from you soon and often. :) |

- User:Buchanan-Hermit upgraded all the maps. They are much nicer now: Commons:Category:Neighbourhood_Maps_of_Vancouver.
Maps
[edit]Thanks for the compliment. However, I find the white borders a little pesky; I originally had the neighborhoods colored differently, but then decided it wasn't that good an idea. Some of the colors seeped through to the white. I tried removing them but then it looked worse. :( So I decided to let them be for now. --→Buchanan-Hermit™..Talk to Big Brother 00:13, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- To be fair, it's not saying much to say they are "much nicer" considering how awful they were before :-) — Usgnus 01:35, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yes. I know. They were horrible. Please use them as toilet paper. I'm not joking. :) --→Buchanan-Hermit™..Talk to Big Brother 03:01, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you, Tony Fox/archive1! Thank you for voting for my recent RfA, which passed (to my extreme surprise and shock) with a total tally of 66/15/2. A Street Downtown
[edit]You seem to be a very responsible Wikipedian and have worked on the article referenced above, which seems to have been created by an unregistered user. Why is it notable in your opinion? I'm not a "deletionist" by any means, but if there was ever an article to the policy Wikipedia is not a crystal ball would seem to apply, it is this one about a series which "will be published "one day" (maybe the day on which I get my Pulitzer!). Rlquall 21:41, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- You're quite welcome. This thing only belongs in here once part of it has been published, and not just something that someone is claiming to be doing on their blog or whatever, especially when the author seems to fall into the "nn" category (as of now, at least), as well. Best, Rlquall 21:51, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit]hello tony, but why did you vandalise my article? i wrote a brief article about a UK company called easypizza limited with 2 links back to its home pages and the article has been continuously vandalised i am not able to allow that and if reporting this to whoever is not the only way to stop it then what else do u suggest
Thanks
[edit]Yeah, I think you're right, just as you were reverting back they vandalized something else. Thanks for the welcome, nice to meet you! -Cduffner 00:28, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
RE: Extinctioners article
[edit]Original message - Hey there. Would you be opposed to my doing a major edit job on this article? I'm trying my best to find a way to save it from the AfD process, but the fact that most of the 'keep' opinions are from new or relatively new users is likely to play against it. I really think it needs to be pared down quite a lot - as one of the other people mentioned, cutting it down to a couple of pictures and removing all the detail about the characters would probably make it a lot more viable. If you're okay with it, I can give that a shot this afternoon and hopefully make it a bit safer. Let me know. Tony Fox 15:57, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Having made a user account as promised and moved this to your talk page as requested, I would like to address your repeated insistance that simply because multiple users share a non-guideline philosophy, it has become a de-facto guideline. I would dare challenge its use as a guideline for page deletion, simply because Wikipedia:Notability clearly states that is not. I do not seek to bring into question your wisdom -- nor am I insisting that you are trying to push for deletion of the Extinctioners article, because it is abundantly clear that you are not. I merely wish to point out that this is a blatant inconsistency that needs to be corrected. Either Notability needs to be made an official policy/guideline, or its use as one goes against established policy/guidelines.
Regarding assume good faith, sir, I do not appreciate this being used as a weapon against me simply because I point out inconsistencies in behavior and application of policy/guidelines, especially when others are clearly not assuming good faith but are left unmolested. Dissent is not a violation. I have no qualms with you, obviously as we've just encountered one another for the first time, but I will not sit back and let myself be bludgeoned by a guideline for daring to bring a problem to light. Please reconsider your methods of responding to criticism, even if you believe it to be unnecessarily sharp. My intent was not to insult, but to make no bones about what I saw in the light of Bwithh's repeated non-good-faith abuse of other commenters.
My issue is primarily with Bwithh, in fact, and not with you at all. But as Bwithh has chosen not to respond to either FurrySaint's or my challenge to his/her behavior, and you have, I have thusly been speaking with you. This is not meant to seem like I'm "coming down on you", and I do apologize if I seemed belligerent. CydoniaRaven 17:02, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- As I said, I'm trying to keep the tone of the discussion out of the argumentative and in the productive, and unfortunately, challenging people during these discussions often leads to pile-on votes against the viewpoint of the person making the challenge. I have left a comment on Bwithh's user page asking him to tone it down - hopefully to just keep pointing out the new users and not make editorial comments on them. Unfortunately, the AfD page itself has become a bit of a hash - I just hope the closing administrator takes the time to look through it and note the arguments we've made to keep more than the sideshow.
As for the notability issue, I agree that it's odd it's labeled as a guideline, when it's quite obviously the biggest point used in AfD discussions. I've started a number of AfDs myself because the topic didn't meet notability guidelines, and there are a number of categories that are considered by people involved in the discussions. The main reason that notability is a concern is that, without considering notability, Wikipedia would quickly turn into a data dump for everything, rather than being the encyclopedic resource that it aims to be. If you're interested in sharing a viewpoint on this, I could suggest you look at the Articles for Deletion main page, which lists a number of discussions on notability issues that you might want to get involved with. Tony Fox 17:13, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Hey Tony Fox, how are things? I just wanted to find out how are things going with the possible deletion of the Extinctioners Wikipedia page? are things looking good or not really. I agree with what you said about Wikipedia being a "data dump" instead of an encyclopedia like you said, I mean an encyclopedia has info on the smallest to the biggest topics regardless of "popularity", Anyways I wanted to find out what you though of the new Extinctioners page at http://furry.wikia.com/wiki/Extinctioners, please let me know whay you think, you can reply on my or your talk sections, ok. - RVDDP2501 01:54, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
I really appreciate what you have done to try and keep the Extinctioners page on Wikipedia, I was wondering (since you liked the Wikifur version) if it is possible to incorporate maybe small aspects of it into the Wikipedia version, I'm only suggesting this because you liked the Wikifur version, please let me know what you think - RVDDP2501 11:10, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
Fair enough, fair enough, I understand completely, I thank you for you support and help, hope things get resolved soon and that we an make the page (in the future) better, thanks - RVDDP2501 16:13, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you - I requested protection on the admin intervention page and got it within minutes. The article had been unprotected for less than 24 hours, sigh.... ॐ Priyanath 05:27, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
If you feel that doing so would be appropriate, could you contribute to the EasyPizza dispute? Any opinion on the matter is fine. I'd send the whole debate to a User Conduct RfC, but it requires two editors to try to resolve the dispute and so far it appears Politakis and I are the only two people debating this. Perhaps another person's input can make the formal process unnecessary. Even if not, thanks for your time spent on this. lowercase 21:19, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
Link Deletion
[edit]Hello, I would like to know why you delete links that I have added. The links in question are furry-related and simply show another perspective on the furry community. Plenty of wikipedia articles have links that both criticize and support the topic. The furry fandom entry should be no different.
Sign your posts with four tildes, please. I deleted them because they've been deleted before, by other editors, as the general view of those particular sites are that they're nothing but hate sites, and hardly useful for a neutral article on the topic. As you'll note, I've left a note on the article talk page to get consensus for the inclusion of the links, and will be happy to abide by the decision made in that discussion. Have a nice day. Tony Fox 04:34, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Consensus is not needed in Wikipedia. The concept of wikipedia is that it is free for anyone to edit. Useful and appropriate edits are not decided by a wikipedia "elite". Please note Wikipedia policy regarding censorship:[1] Also note the entry for the Iraq War, because it lists war supporters and anti-war activists. Godhatesfurries.com and Crush Yiff Destroy are furry related and simply represent another perspective on the furry subculture. Also note that you should not revert good faith edits (see list of wikipedia policies). If you examine my edits you will see that they simply removed POV and added information. In other words, my edits were in good faith. 68.69.194.125 05:07, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

G'day Tony,
thanks for your question. Certain AfDs can be blanked for privacy reasons; it doesn't happen very often, but it's not completely weird either :-). In this case, the original article contained some allegations which were quite defamatory. It was an unsourced attack page of such potency (for want of a better word), that I felt that any discussion of the article's subject, barring a re-creation of the article in such a way that it was well-sourced and clearly explained why we needed an article on this person, should be kept from the prying eyes of, e.g., Google. The beauty of {{Afd-privacy}} is that the discussion is not kept from anyone who really wants to see it (as opposed to the alternative proposal for such situations, which was deleting the AfD subpage), but means that you can't just stumble across it, either. fuddlemark (befuddle me!) 11:56, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]For the gratifying response. I get a little tired of afd nominations that say "nn-band" [end of nomination text], leaving the voters to do all the due diligence (or not, unfortunately).--Fuhghettaboutit 22:47, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

EasyPizza
[edit]Now that EasyPizza has appeared on BBC news 24 and SKY news as well as appearing in the Evening Standard, Daily Mail, Times, and many other publications this issue of not being in the public interest and not being notable is a non issue. Now we can be sensible and post the EasyPizza page back up. Look at these links as examples [2][3]
- Go right ahead and give it a shot. I had nothing to do with that except making the mistake of trying to follow the consensus built on the talk page, which involved one revert to a version that had been discussed and okayed by those who took part in the conversation, and then getting caught up in the silliness afterwards. I should note that if this is User:Politakis then be wary of evading your block. If you're going to put together an article, please read all of the Wikipedia policies, and make sure you understand them. Things like verifiability, assume good faith, no legal threats and others are important to remember. Good luck. (posted onto the IP's talk page as well) Tony Fox (speak) 03:41, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

IPs
[edit]Its possible. A little more evidence and trends might be required to do a checkuser on them to see if the IPs are the same to see if there are any sockpuppets involved.--Crossmr 05:41, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
For clarification, I've been editing the Furry Fandom for a while, but I've also been editing other articles. My IP generally starts with something like "81.178" but it changes regularly. I'm not associated with any other editors involved with the furry fandom article and I'm not a sockpuppet of a registered user. What I said on that article's talk page is the truth. And possibly co-incidental, but Perri Rhoades also edited and mentioned that he edited the progressive rock article, Dr. Righteous history shows that he edited the Styx article - as you probably already noticed - although that's a very tenuous link. - 81.178.225.214 06:56, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
As an additional note here, that 68.69.194.125 may be WhatDoesKoshDoAllDay. I noticed that on the Yiff article they were pushing for an inclusion of the google image search [4]. and on their talk page there is reference to ContiE, and in their contrib list [5] there is an edit summary accusing ContiE of hacking their account, and here User_talk:ContiE#A_Question the IP makes a personal attack on him.--Crossmr 20:07, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not sure how useful a checkuser will be. WhatDoesKoshDoAllDay hasn't edited since January, however it does gives us some insight into who they likely are.--Crossmr 20:13, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
I'm sure they are all sockpuppets. It CAN'T be possible that several people share the same viewpoint, can it? 68.69.194.125 01:26, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks again for that, but is it alright if i was the one who made the school website in the first place?
Thanks for the second opinion on this article; I was going to keep an eye on it and give the editor some time to rewrite, as he/she said on my talk page that he/she had written the school's site, but was really on the fence as to whether to stub it for copyvio. Learning experience for me! Cheers. Tony Fox (arf!) 15:49, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, right. I hadn't seen that he/she claimed to be the author of the school's website also (I checked your talk page but was looking for a signature.) If that is the case then the material can be used but first we need to confirm that the user really does hold the copyright by having them send an e-mail to permissions@wikimedia... stating this. Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission is the page about this. Thanks for letting me know. --Cherry blossom tree 17:01, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Someone messed up the sources. The article was originally based on the same text located at http://www.ericdigests.org/1992-4/active.htm which self-identified as a privately owned site that was unconnected to the government, so unlikely public domain either. I think we should have a sniff around the article's history and see if the contributors who put this in have other copyvios to their name. - Mgm|(talk) 21:27, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit]hey, I just did a rvv on Fact and left a test4 for the offending IP, signed it 4 tildes and wiki signed it with your name instead... odd, just letting ya know it's nothing malicious on my part. user:Zedla Zedla 07:02, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

4-4-1
[edit]Hey, thanks for the heads up on 4-4-1 being back on the AfD. I've posted a comment with supporting links. I'd appreciate your review. Thanks again. Gh228 00:05, 1 November 2006 (UTC)Gh228

Thank you for supporting my RfA
[edit]Thank you for your support in my RfA, which passed with a final tally of (56/0/2). It was great to see so much kind support from such competent editors and administrators as commented on my RfA.
I know I have much reading to do before I'll feel comfortable enough to use some of the more powerful admin tools, so I'll get right to it.

Thank you for your support!

Tony, I'm new to Wikipedia but I love the concept of it. I'd love to talk to you about how it is that you find work needing to be done and things of the such. Thanks. Leave me a message. Mister Peanut. Oh, you didn't answer me about the abstinence-only sex education. What are your thoughts on birth control? Thanks, Mister Peanut

Thanks For The Revert ^_^
[edit]Thanks for reverting the vandalism off my userpage. Though I must admit that vandal has left me feeling somewhat special - he obviously remembered my userpage. At any rate, thanks for the revert and the kit on your userpage is adorable. ^_^
Papa Roach
[edit]Hi there thanks for placing a note on the Papa Roach article. However, that vandal is still around and seems to have ignored your message.
Zanta
[edit]Note that Zanta has been restored, and place on AfD for a proper deletion debate. -- Zanimum 14:42, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Rachel Marsden
[edit]You said you had some sources that could be used for re-writing the article on Talk:Rachel Marsden. I have made a start on a stub so any additional sources you have will be useful. Thanks. Catchpole 21:46, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Editing
[edit]If enough people post the same thing will it eventually be accepted? and if so how many? because in the end you really have no idea what or who this person is and you are just going by what you think is right. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sra104 (talk • contribs)
- i guess we'll just have to see about that...lol anyhow, i accomplished my initial goal, and seeing so far what has happened, i got away with it. someone is not doing their job here...—Preceding unsigned comment added by Sra104 (talk • contribs)
Darn, you're quick. I was reverting Fursecuter's vandalism, but you got to it first, and we both wound up warning him. :) -- Kesh 04:29, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- He's pretty quick too. I knew I should've left the semiprotection on my user page. Tony Fox (arf!) 04:33, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I can see how this one gets his kicks. I suppose some kids just don't care how they get attention. :P -- Kesh 04:36, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the fix on the user page, by the way (I'd already gotten the main damage). I don't think the flurry of YTMND idiots quite got to 42 anyhow, but it just seems to be the right number. *grins* Tony Fox (arf!) 04:42, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

- No problem. I make a habit of checking the vandal's contribution page after a revert, to see what other trouble they've been in. Saw your Talk page listed at the top, so I figured what happened. Again, you got the revert in before I did. :)
- Sock puppets, huh? Not too surprising. This kind tries to avoid punishment. I kinda feel sad for the kid, that best he can find for entertainment is making fun of people on Wikipedia. -- Kesh 04:52, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
What are your credentials
[edit]Mr. Tony Fox sir?
Happy Monday to you
[edit]If there is such a thing, at least.. :) I know it's a royal pain in the arse to continually deal with this guy constantly putting up AfD for wrestling related articles (As I said on the AfD page, he's getting close to 10 accounts closed for this stuff). Maybe we can quickly relist the article (as what happened with Greg Bownds if the nominator is blocked for being a Sock and the AfD speedied. SirFozzie 18:57, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Someone tell me why all the wrestling editors seem to be going crazy? First this JB stuff, then another banned wrestling editor, Chadbryant, gets caught throwing one of his frequent targets on AfD as well. *sighs and bangs his head against the wall* This is not good, I wonder if someday I'll be as crazy as they are? :D SirFozzie 21:00, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
SJ up for AfD again

Re. Jonathan P. Arnold @ Sarnia, Ontario page
[edit]Tony, I think this name should stay. Jonathan P. Arnold lived in Sarnia only a short time, but while there was one of the few chosen from the city to represent Scouts Canada at the World Jamboree in Australia, where at the age of 14 wrote several articles for the Sarnia Observer (all were published) and helped expand Scouting in the region. He was also a member of a LSSAA championship sr. football team for NCIVS and was awarded several civic awards for community involvement.
Familiar?

[edit]I'm having a little fun in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wikimob:
- Delete before I have to call the Don. The Don doesn't like original research. — coelacan talk — 21:21, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Comment A call to the don coelacan talk? That is an admission to a wikimob or a bad joke. If it is a joke, wikipedia has no place for that. Try myspace. If the referance to Don is code to a mob than my article is warranted. Either way Coelacan's vote should be striked. --Janusvulcan 21:52, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
I saw your name, Tony, and my Sopranos senses started tingling. Would you be at all offended (or prefer that I just not mention you at all) if I were to reply with something like "Watch out, Tony the Fox can hear you, and voter suppression makes him angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry."? Bonus points if you can help me think of something cleverer. — coelacan talk — 23:14, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

My RfA
[edit]Thank you for your support in my recent RfA. I think valid criticisms were raised in areas that I need to work on, so I've withdrawn my name. I intend to work on addressing the concerns that were raised, and think I need to work contributing without allowing myself to become as stressed as I have been at times, which did result in some inappropriate behavior. Perhaps I may re-explore adminship at some point in the future, but it's a little early to consider that. Again, thank you. Fan-1967 21:41, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
Your RfC proposal
[edit]As I understand it the view was that whilst there was no need for a formal team of clerks to deal with RfC, users should be bold and make sure RfCs that are not certified are removed and that RfCs that have run their course are closed. If you are willing, I suggest you do just that. I shall keep an eye on the RfC situation myself as well. Hopefully the position can be improved that way... WJBscribe 23:41, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Re: Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors
[edit]I admit I over reacted to what I saw as American Arrogance. I feel that partly, I was responding to insults veiled as comments on the contributions. I shall sleep on it before adding any further comment to Wikipedia Oxyman 01:49, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Current vandal at indian ocean
[edit]Dont we have the blatant vandal thing anymore - four edits all vandalism - surely there's a thing for that sort - have come across a couple of 4 in a rowers today - sigh SatuSuro 06:26, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
images for the Battle of the Plains of Abraham
[edit]What kind images do you need exactly? In case it is a map of the battle you should make a sourced list of all points that the editor has to concern (Where were the units, how did they move, who commanded, when did the reach which position. What were significant features of the area, etc.) Wandalstouring 14:00, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

re 70.20.165.239
[edit]Just an FYI, but the annom hit more than just Seancdaug's talk. He also hit mine and User:Neoyamaneko's.
I've got no idea what Seancdaug or Neoyamaneko did to attract the ...troll I guess is the best polite word for him... though the vandalism of Neoyamaneko's page is short racism.
I think I irked him by flipping his vandalism of Stan Lee.

RFC
[edit]Some admins have expressed their understading that the two editors required to certify a RFC page were the editor making the request plus one editor endorsing it. Requiring two editors to "sign" seems like raising the requirement to three editors -- quite a higher requirement. Thanks House of Scandal 11:40, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Hello, I noticed that you !voted early in this AfD. I can easily see how you arrived at your decision, base don information present in the debate at the time you !voted. If you are so inclined, would you please take a moment to review any new information that has been left since you last viewed it, and see if there is possibly basis to change your !vote? Yes what are your credentials

- I knew I forgot to delete something. My credentials are the same as every other editor here, as far as I'm concerned: I can read, I can make judgements based on the guidelines set out here, such as WP:ATT, WP:BIO and so on. Those are the considerations I put into comments such as the ones I made in the AFD you're concerned with. (And sign your posts, please.) Tony Fox (arf!) 04:52, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
