Warning users

[edit]

Hi there! You dont' have to be an admin to warn other users about their editing or conduct. Admins are teh only people that can block, but anyone can warn. There's a range of templates available that will probably fit, for example at Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace. GedUK  13:07, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hell's Kitchen (U.S. season 12) quotes in italics

[edit]

Can you point me to the MOS page that says that Ramsay's quotes should be italicized?

It violates MOS:ITAL#Quotations_in_italics which says: For quotations, use only quotation marks (for short quotations) or block quoting (for long ones), not italics. (See Quotations below.) This means that (1) a quotation is not italicized inside quotation marks or a block quote just because it is a quotation, and (2) italics are no substitute for proper quotation formatting. One way to distinguish long block quotes from ordinary text is to use {{quotation}}, which will box the text. Citation links may not work within such templates; if so, it may be necessary to use {{quote}}.

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Hell's Kitchen (U.S. season 12). Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Jnorton7558 (talk) 04:52, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hell's Kitchen (U.S. season 12)

[edit]

Why did you make this revert? My edit had nothing to do to do with anyone quitting or colours. It was a copyedit to correct some poor "English". --AussieLegend () 15:18, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Naming (parliamentary procedure), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages David Cox, Scott Morrison and Paul Fletcher. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

AFL 2015 Grand Final

[edit]

Mate, I doubt you've even heard about the AFL but since there were no objections your description was invalid and thereby wrong TheAirplaneGuy (talk) 10:20, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wow. Let me make myself extremely clear. I live in the SAME state as you! To make such an assumption that I don't know about the AFL when I support North Melbourne and Was a member of the club is utterly disgusting. I clearly have heard of the AFL. TheAirplaneGuy. Assuming gets you nowhere. That is all. TheGRVOfLightning (talk) 10:48, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What you get for having sleepless nights TheAirplaneGuy (talk) 10:52, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Now. Can we please discuss the episode titleing of Season 14, Episode 4. I am willing to come to consensus. TheGRVOfLightning (talk) 10:55, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, why does a title from Sweden, constitute as a title for an Canadian show, if you look at the other titles, they clearly don't make sense. So if you were patient we could wait until Nat Geo Aus or UK or Discovery put up at title for S14 Episode 4, thank you TheAirplaneGuy (talk) 10:58, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I was using a translation and it was the best thing avaliable at the moment. However yes, I do admit I should be more patient but best source at the time. That's what happens. TheGRVOfLightning (talk) 11:04, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

YOU'RE WELCOME!

[edit]

I'm glad to see that the page is being appreciated, and put to good use. And remember, if you have any notable events of NHL lore that you think should be added, please make note of them on the talk page. I eventually plan to create a Major League Baseball lore page as well, but that is a while off with my new semester starting soon here. That, and I'm not an especially big baseball fan, and don't know the history as much as the NHL...StrangeApparition2011 (talk) 18:38, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yeah, and that reminds me of the Carolina-New Jersey game seven about five years ago that ended the same way, too. I'll get to them..eventually, lol. Thanks!StrangeApparition2011 (talk) 06:03, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions to the NHL lore page. Just a few notes:

1) Please consult the talk page before adding a piece of lore. This is the rule for the NFL lore page, and I think that it is a good rule of thumb for editors to follow. If no response, or a general consensus is reached to add the piece, feel free. This isn't really an issue NOW, with so few people following the page, so it's not a big issue. But I wanted to note it in the event that the page grows in popularity and we truly need such a rule in the future.
Also, it's a good rule, because there are many notable instances in the NHL, but whether one is TRULY noteworthy and immortalized in the history of the NHL is another issue. This should be hashed out with enthusiasts.
2) If you could also make note on the talk page that you added events, that would be cool too.
3) I cleaned up some of your entries to try and make them more encyclopedic, and overall more clear and fluid. I also added the appropriate references.
Thank you for your help and interest in the page.StrangeApparition2011 (talk) 02:46, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That's good to go. If I didn't think that the events were notable, I'd argue a case for deletion on the talk page. They're good to go, no worries. But thank you for explaining your case.StrangeApparition2011 (talk) 03:04, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have replied to the proposed edits. Please try and keep discussion ABOUT the page on that pages talk section. If you want to tip me off that you have added to that section, that is fine. But discussion about notable events, we will keep there.StrangeApparition2011 (talk) 01:21, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

RFA and note

[edit]

Hi TheGRVOfLightning, I'm sure you've noticed by now that I closed your RFA as withdrawn. I also wanted to advise you that User:TheGRVOfLightning/ROE#Disputing contradicts existing rules and policies in place that would supersede the ones you laid out in an actual dispute. WP:OWN in regards to templates and WP:USERTALK (specifically WP:REMOVED). Also, while generally not acceptable to remove another editors support or oppose comment on an RFA, there are examples where this has been done (usually through community consensus when comments are off-topic or deemed inappropriate but not necessarily vandalism). I wanted to point these out to you because if these reflect your expectations and views, they will likely be held against you at a subsequent RFA running. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:18, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of 2019 AFLX competition

[edit]

Hello TheGRVOfLightning,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged 2019 AFLX competition for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. Take a look at our suggestions for essential content in short articles to learn what should be included.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

2019 AFLX competition moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, 2019 AFLX competition, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
