Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on User:Samstokes80 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. The article Samuel J. Stokes has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Managing a conflict of interest
[edit] Hello, Samstokes80. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. CycloneYoris talk! 00:57, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- I do not have a relationship to Samuel J. Stokes. We coincidentally have the same first and last name, which is why I started researching him. I have uncovered no family relationship, and think it is probably unlikely that there is one. Samstokes80 (talk) 02:28, 4 January 2025 (UTC)

Contested deletion
[edit]This page should not be speedily deleted because I am an actual person with a Ph.D. in music. I'm attempting to compile information on composers to add to Wikipedia. --Samstokes80 (talk) 00:59, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Samstokes80 please read the user page rules. SparklingBlueMoon (talk) 01:02, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, I will do that now, and I will make the necessary changes. Samstokes80 (talk) 01:03, 4 January 2025 (UTC)

[edit] Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your user page may not meet Wikipedia's user page guidelines. It is intended for basic information about yourself, your interests and goals as they relate to editing Wikipedia, as well as disclosures of conflicts of interest and paid editing. Although a lot of freedom is allowed in personalizing your user page, it is not:
- an encyclopedia article (and should not be styled to look like one)
- a workspace for a draft article
- a personal website, blog, or social media site
- a space for self-promotion or other advertising
- a CV, resumé or lengthy autobiography
The user page guidelines have additional information on what is and what is not considered acceptable content. Please use your user sandbox or the draft article space to practice editing or to create new articles. Thank you. SparklingBlueMoon (talk) 01:01, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
Conflict of interest with Samuel J. Stokes
[edit]You use the same name "Stokes" in your username, what is your relationship with this person? Are you able to write in a neutral tone and source the article? There are currently no sources to show the notoriety of this person SparklingBlueMoon (talk) 01:08, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- This composer happens to share a first and last name with me, which prompted my interest in researching him. I have researched his family history quite thoroughly and have been unable to find any connection. At this point, I doubt there is any family connection. I can maintain a neutral tone, as I am only providing the biographical information I have found, and do not intend to make any judgments on the value or greatness of the composer's works. Samstokes80 (talk) 01:16, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for your answer, this can be an interesting exercise. However, to be kept the article must prove that the person is notable and for that it requires sources but there are none, you have from now on a period of 7 days to add sources, without this the article will certainly be deleted. The article Samuel J. Stokes has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
No source
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. SparklingBlueMoon (talk) 01:19, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- I do have some sources. I'm working on adding the references now. Samstokes80 (talk) 01:22, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
