Hello - help needed
[edit]Hello dear Rye,
There's a certain guy on Wikimedia commons who is trying to push that statistics definition by the UNSD into the pictures by trying to add Iran to South Asia and telling it was the original uploaders purpose (many years ago, he left wiki)
He asks now for us to upload our own version of the orthographic maps without Iran, but I have no clue how to do this. Could you please (I think you are able to) upload the orthographic map for South Asia by yourself without (obviously) Iran on it, as soon as possible?? It's a ridiculous joke, some people don't seem to grasp it apparently.
Here the link:

Pov pushing on Commons (West Asia/South Asia)
[edit]Hello, pleas check the articles about west Asia and South Asia and the maps in particular. Some editor on commons is all of a sudden pov pushing and trying to put Iran into South Asia by using that self-employed UNSD definition that doesn't imply any coherence or relation between the countries put in the region. All worldwide institutions, boards, etc, put Iran into west Asia, and now this guy all of a sudden tries to distort things here. Could you comment and make him revert back this nonsense? How to rename a page
[edit]Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Khosro a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Xosrow. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. - Thanks for telling.

Iran
[edit]Your recent editing history at Iran shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. - Mjroots, thank you for your performance against the chaos that I unwantedly participated in.
- Yes, that is true. I am really sorry; I'm still a bit amateur in these kind of cases.
- I actually tried to discuss and talk about it with them (Aidepikiwnirotide), but they didn't cooperate.
- I wanted to report them, but then I found out that I should've discussed with them on a talk page. So I just left them a message, but received no response.
- At the end, I thought to move the photo (which they were strongly trying to add on the article) into an at least correct section. But then they reverted the edits again, and seemed to act out of enmity.
- Can you please tell me what should I do now?... Do I have to do anything specific, or this whole thing is already under management watch by now?

- What you can do now is to discuss the issue at talk:Iran. Another editor has already pitched in, and probably more will do so overnight. Mjroots (talk) 21:26, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

DYK for Environmental issues in Tehran
[edit]On 1 November 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Environmental issues in Tehran, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that environmental issues in Tehran include severe air pollution and a high risk of earthquakes? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Environmental issues in Tehran. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |
