Hello, how do I post a photo on a created page? --Zayne Nel (talk) 21:53, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Zayne Nel: My apologies for the extremely delayed response. You may upload an image to Wikimedia Commons, and then you can use it on Wikipedia. ~ Rusty meow ~ 05:43, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Gray Pxgh on Draft:Ryōmen Sukuna (Japanese Folklore) (21:42, 29 January 2025)

[edit]

Hello. I’m new to Wikipedia and I recently posted a page. When I try to edit the source code, Wikipedia won’t allow it. I am only allowed to edit the text. Is there a reason for this, and if so, is it linked to the page being newly published? Thanks --Gray Pxgh (talk) 21:42, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Gray Pxgh: What you're describing sounds like the "Visual Editor". If you want to go back to source code editing, there is a pencil icon in the top right of the editor that allows you to change between editing modes. If you prefer to edit in source code mode, you may specify an editor preference in your preferences (top right, "profile" icon, preferences) ~ Rusty meow ~ 23:46, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from A.vojinovic (20:09, 1 February 2025)

[edit]

Hello I am interested in creating a Wikipedia page regarding my company. --A.vojinovic (talk) 20:09, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@A.vojinovic: Welcome to Wikipedia. Creating a Wikipedia article about a subject you have a connection with, such as your company, is strongly discouraged per our conflict of interest guideline.
Additionally, it is of great importance that you understand that [e]ven a subject of an article [...] does not own the article, nor has any right to dictate what the article may or may not say. (from the ownership policy). So a Wikipedia article about your company may not necessarily be a good thing.

[edit]

Hello! I'm new to Wikipedia. When should I archive a website vs cite it directly in a Wikipedia entry? Thank you. --Owen peugeot (talk) 04:18, 5 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Owen peugeot: Hello!
I would recommend both if possible, though it's also acceptable to only cite the original URL. ~ Rusty meow ~ 05:29, 5 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

how do you find the license of a picture to use for your profile --Angelkittycore (talk) 16:14, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Angelkittycore:
Hey, welcome to Wikipedia!
If you view a Wikimedia Commons image description page (for example, this one), there will be a "Licensing" section.
Does that answer your question? ~ Rusty meow ~ 00:42, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from DLKuh (16:51, 9 February 2025)

[edit]

Hello. I discovered Women in Red had made me a wikipedia page. While I am grateful to them for doing this, I would like to correct my entry, and also address the label that says citations are needed. I tried to edit the page but my edits do not appear to have been accepted. Please tell me how I can correct the information about me. For example, I am not an alumnus of the University of Exeter! Thank you Diana Kuh --DLKuh (talk) 16:51, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@DLKuh: Hey Diana, welcome to Wikipedia!
Regarding the question of your edit not being accepted, it is generally discouraged on Wikipedia for one to edit an article on a subject related to oneself.
There is still a way the edit can be made, however: you can submit an edit request. The edit request wizard may be helpful (select Conflict of Interest).
Important things to note:
  • You must declare that you are the subject of the article. You can choose to do this on your "user page", but whether if you choose to do it on your user page or not, I'd still recommend a declaration in your edit request, e.g. beginning with "I am ..., the subject of this article"
  • Remember to provide reliable sources, or your edit request may not be accepted.
More information is available at Wikipedia:FAQ/Article subjects and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI.
Good luck, and feel free to ask me if you have any questions! ~ Rusty meow ~ 04:56, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

How do i upload my company logo on wikepedia? --Mride ng (talk) 13:04, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Mride ng: You could upload it on Wikimedia Commons, but I don't recommend that because we don't recommend creating articles about subjects you have a relationship or connection to (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest). ~ Rusty meow ~ 15:47, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Prmeylan (15:26, 19 February 2025)

[edit]

I've made an edit and added a 'person of note' to the town I live in ... as an auto hyperlink over his name its directing people to the wrong Simon Topping. How do I correct and direct to a wiki page of my choice (already exists)? Thanks --Prmeylan (talk) 15:26, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Prmeylan: In the Visual Editor, you can click on the link, then "Edit" to change the link target. ~ Rusty meow ~ 15:57, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Uvnarayan (20:21, 20 February 2025)

[edit]

Hello, I actually wanted to know is there a possibility to include information in a page without a verified online published direct source? I know some information which is not available online? --Uvnarayan (talk) 20:21, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Uvnarayan: Yes, you definitely can! If you can find a source for your information, whether offline or online, it can be added. Just make sure you cite your source. ~ Rusty meow ~ 20:40, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So for offline sources do I need to add the citations manually? Also, one more small doubt if I am using a person's name and suppose he/she has a page on Wikipedia how do I include that link when they click on it as there are many places where I see blue text which can be clicked? Pardon me for asking such a small doubt but it'd be great if you could tell me. Uvnarayan (talk) 20:45, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Uvnarayan: Yes to the first question. For the second question, you can click on the 'link' icon in the top toolbar (to the left of Cite). ~ Rusty meow ~ 00:26, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank Rusty sorry my English is not strong. I prefer to write in Spanish with you my mentor I am new to Wikipedia like swimming lessons for babies I am very interested in writing about those subjects. I appreciate your support I will appreciate a lot all your help. Have a nice weekend and keep in touch --Jaime Enrique Santisteban (talk) 01:53, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Jaime Enrique Santisteban: Welcome to Wikipedia! Don't worry about English skills, we welcome all sorts of editors here.
Just so you know, there is a Wikipedia in Spanish at http://es.wiki.x.io if you want to create or edit articles in Spanish.
Happy editing! ~ Rusty meow ~ 02:06, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot Rusty, my firs question mi cuenta aparece como que no existe y ya hice mi primera publicación sobre el tema que me preocupa y ocupa. Como hacer para que aparezca página user? Jaime Enrique Santisteban (talk) 02:30, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Jaime Enrique Santisteban:
¿Puedes hacerlo? ~ Rusty meow ~ 05:20, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
