Changing topic link to compare link
There is an update at the Courses's page telling to update our topic with "the link to point to the page which shows edits made by you". After I started editing my page, there are people who have edited this page. So should I insert a link to point only to changes made by me or to the link which compares the page when it was assigned to me and how it is now? I asked this on the page "Courses" page's discussion page, but there has been no answer till I wrote this.

Doubt
RHaworth put deletion tag on our pages of abort (C standard library) & Cpow . I asked him about it , he told that discuss with course supervisor . Can you please tell us what he want's to say at Deletion tag ? Also what should I do about the speedy deletion tag on the page of abort (C standard library) ? should we do further edits to this page as proposed on User : Vcdhanesh/sandbox ? He also redirected the Cpow page to complex.h ,should I ask him ' why '? Please reply. Pankaj bagul (talk) 18:09, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, start writing your articles on sandbox or draft, write them properly with references and proper format and then ask anyone to verify it and then and only then move it to main space. Rangilo Gujarati (talk) 18:16, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- Should we ignore ,if the page/s got deleted ? Pankaj bagul (talk) 03:52, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Speedy declined
Your speedy deletion on Kapitein Yannick has been declined, because there is no article of this title on the Dutch Wikipedia. The fact that the article is not written in English is not sufficient grounds for speedy deletion. Instead, the article has been proposed for deletion on the grounds that neither the character nor the book from which he originates nor the author of said book have any demonstrable notability. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 22:19, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks I didn't even know that its Dutch, and yes the reason you pointed out is also significant for deletion. Thanks. Rangilo Gujarati (talk) 22:22, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- yes, but deletion via PROD, not speedy. There is no speedy criterion that would apply here. DGG ( talk ) 23:20, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
Ella Koon album articles
In accordance with WP's deletion policy, I have declined the deletion of the Ella Koon album articles. Albums are not applicable to the A7 criteria for speedy deletion. At this point, I have redirected the articles to that of the artist. See WP:ALBUMS. Cind.amuse (Cindy) 09:07, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks. Rangilo Gujarati (talk) 19:53, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

excessive speedy deletion
Please pause a bit before doing further speedy deletion nominations, until you carefully read WP:Deletion policy and WP:CSD. Too many of your nominations are being declined by myself and several other administrators. It's easy to forget the exact rules--I reread them every once in a while myself despite years of experience at this.
For example, Alexey Titarenko not only asserted importance in the clearest manner by winning exhibitions, but there were references to two published monographs about him, which in fact prove his notability. Eleanor L. Hall published multiple books from good publishers--even publishing one is an indication of possible importance, though not necessarily notability , but her record clearly meets the notability guideline, though the version you saw did need references--but for published books, it's trivial to find them on WorldCat.. You cannot nominate comic books or any kind of books other than web content for deletion under WP:A7--you must use prod or AfD, however non-notable they appear. If you nominate something for deletion as a untranslated p. from another project, you must link to that p.--we do not speedy delete just for being in a foreign language--we add the {{notenglish}} tag An article on a temple built in the 16th century indicates by its date at less possible importance. And John Appleby (author) passes speedy by reason of a published book--and, if one checks, it turns out he actually passes WP:AUTHOR, because one of his books was made into a mainstream film, and a fairly major one at that, with important actors. Remember, the criterion for passing speedy is not notability, but just a good-faith assertion of importance.
Nobody can properly check several articles a minute--you need to think about the alternatives. One of the reasons you are going too fast is that you are using Twinkle. I must ask you to stop using it or any other automated or semi-automatedtool until your accuracy improves.
You are a member of the ambassadors program, so you should clearly realize the great importance of attracting new editors. Most editors whose work is initially deleted never return; most editors whose work is even marked for deletion, properly or improperly, never return. When dealing with new users who appear in good faith, and where the article is not vandalism or copyvio, it is much better to place a prod tag if necessary to give them time for improvement, and then go to their talk page and, not relying only on the formal notice, give them a simple explanation of exactly what would be required. Even for copyvio, we certainly do delete it, but we also explain how an article should be written.
DGG ( talk ) 22:58, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for bringing this in my attention. The articles which I nominated for deletion didn't have any references till the version I saw, so I thought they are of no possible importance. And regarding articles for other projects I didn't know what to do with it, also I didn't have any link of it on foreign project so I nominated for its deletion. But again thanks to you :) am finally getting some idea about it. Thanks a lot once again. Rangilo Gujarati (talk) 16:30, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- Another admin just removed a speedy tag you placed on the article Jesminder , a few minutes after you wrote the above reply. It was not an article about a group of people but a disambiguation page, and perfectly proper. I am not sure you are taking this problem seriously enough. I also see you are continuing to use Twinkle. Twinkle is a very useful tool, which I myself always use when applicable, but it intensifies problems if used without sufficient thought. I must insist that you stop making speedy nominations until you have, read and understood the conditions for using it. This is unhelpful enough to be disruptive, and people have been blocked who continue to do this after sufficient warnings.
- I clarify to you that we do not delete foreign language articles for being in a non-English language unless they are on another wiki. It will usually be indicated, but you can always go to that wiki and search if you think it to be the case. Unless you actually find it, do not nominate it for deletion. You do not have to search though, you just put a proper tag on it and not a deletion notice. Whoever works on translating it will check.
- I also clarify that absence of references is not evidence of non-notability; it can just as easily be evidence of not understanding how to write a Wikipedia article. The thing to do is to add an unreferenced tag on it, or an unreferenced BLP prod if it's a BLP. . If the material that is there indicates that even if referenced it is hopelessly non-notable, then it might warrant a deletion tag, but unless its blindingly obvious, you should check first. Your deletion of contribution : Michael Canning
Can you please explain why you question the biographical entry on the Irish artist "Michael Canning" which I made yesterday September 22/09/2011 approx. 23.00GMT.
Several other entries on contemporary Irish artists already exist on Wikipedia and the artist is named as a notable alumnus in the Wikipedia entry on Limerick School of Art and Design, Ireland.
Best regards,
John Crotty (Johncrotty11 (talk) 18:26, 22 September 2011 (UTC)--Johncrotty11 (talk) 18:26, 22 September 2011 (UTC))
- I have explained to him on his talk p.. I'm not sure it was an a7 since it did assert exhibitions, but another admin thought it was, and their judgment was reasonable, since it came nowhere near meeting WP:CREATIVE and was entirely promotional also, so it inevitably would have been deleted. DGG ( talk ) 18:42, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
What is an A7?
What is an A7? The article was modelled on other similar examples ( Samuel Walsh, Amanda Coogan, Fergus Feehily ) so how is it "promotional"? And please don't talk about your contributors like we're not here. We can read what you're saying about us you know.
John (Johncrotty11 (talk) 18:53, 22 September 2011 (UTC))
- I shall follow up on your own talk p.,which is a better place for this discussion--indeed, I already had done so when you wrote this, & I will add some further comments there. I replied here also, because I am pretty sure I can give a better explanation of this, and I wanted to tell the relatively inexperienced editor that I would deal with your question for him. DGG ( talk ) 00:22, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
Price is right video game

Declined BLPPROD: Angsuman Banerji
I had to decline the BLPPROD here (I've PROD'd it instead). While there is an on-going RfC on this point, consensus has been and appears to continue to be that even a clearly self-published source such as one's Facebook page is "enough" to prevent placing a BLPPROD tag, this is explained in more detail at WP:BLPPROD#Nominating. Sorry for the inconvenience. --joe deckertalk to me 14:41, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
Doesn't seem to be a hoax - but does look promotional, so I've changed the tag. Not a Tarot I'm familiar with. I've used the Marseilles Tarot, and started to design a new one of my own (but didn't finish...). Peridon (talk) 20:24, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I am from COEP(OOMD class) and my article is deleted by User:LadyofShalott. I think he/she is administrator and can decide which article to delete and which user to block. My article was UML fever. Before I ask him/her the reason for deleting my article, tell me what should I do.
- Ok, do one thing ask for content back either from LadyofShalott or Srikeit, if you need help do tell me, start developing your article in your subpage/draft/sandbox, then ask any of the CAs to check it and then and only then move it to main space. A suggestion for you
Hi Arnav!! How about giving a barnstar to the students who perform the best in this Wikipedia assignment, from every course? :) Nipun Bayas (talk) 11:20, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- Of course, but am waiting for someone to start, Wikipedians did give barnstar to SSE students and also one of the articles has been graded GA (Good Article) status, am waiting for your exams to get over, once they do I want everyone to start working soon and get some GAs. Rangilo Gujarati (talk) 15:15, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
I hope we get some GA's too. :) Nipun Bayas (talk) 04:41, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Speedy tagging with G11
Thank you for patrolling new pages, a thankless but vital task without which Wikipedia would soon become unusable. I have deleted The National Network Opposing the Militarization of Youth which you tagged, but WP:CSD#G11 wasn't the right tag to use - that is for "Pages that are exclusively promotional, and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to become encyclopedic. Note: An article about a company or a product which describes its subject from a neutral point of view does not qualify for this criterion." The NNOMY article was quite neutrally written and simply described what it did. There was no indication why it was important, so WP:CSD#A7 or {{db-club}} was the right tag. G11 should only be used for real advertisement-style articles - someone posting about a non-notable organization may well have a promotional intent, but that's not enough for G11. If another tag like A7 applies, on the whole it's better to use that, because G11 can lead to arguments about whether it is promotional, or the author taking out a few adjectives and trying again, when the real problem is that his group or company just isn't significant enough for an article.
There's good advice for speedy taggers at WP:10CSD and WP:A7M. Keep at it! Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:19, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for the valuable suggestion :) Rangilo Gujarati (talk) 20:21, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
