Hello, PeterColemanUSA. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Peter Coleman (sailor), for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Peter Coleman (sailor) to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.
If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.
Thanks,

[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but it appears you have written or added to an article about yourself, at Peter Coleman (sailor). Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Hello, PeterColemanUSA, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia, such as PaulColemanUSA (talk · contribs). Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who use multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. If you operate multiple accounts directly or with the help of another person, please disclose these connections. Thank you. Cabayi (talk) 13:26, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy by adding commentary and your personal analysis into articles, as you did at Peter Coleman (sailor), you may be blocked from editing. Cordless Larry (talk) 14:14, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that a recent edit of yours has an edit summary that appears to be inaccurate or inappropriate. The summaries are helpful to people browsing an article's history, so it is important that you use edit summaries that accurately tell other editors what you did. Feel free to use the sandbox to make test edits. Thank you. ‡ Єl Cid, Єl Caɱ̩peador ᐁT₳LKᐃ 14:50, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
Usernames
[edit]Please note that the general policy on Wikipedia is "one user, one username". (See WP:USERNAMES) It appears highly likely that you are editing using both this account and User:PaulColemanUSA. This is not allowed unless the two usernames are clearly and unambiguously marked as being connected. This can be done by placing a statement on the user pages of both the accounts. By not doing so, you risk being blocked from editing by an administrator.
Also, Wikipedia is a co-operative project and relies on its editors to communicate with each other. A number of editors have attempted to explain some things to you, and you have not responded. This, too, is not acceptable. Communication between editors is the lifeblood of this project, and, again, you can be blocked from editing if you continue to ignore the comments of other editors.
No one is trying to make things difficult for you, but with such a huge project, there are rules that must be followed to prevent us from descending into chaos. Please make an effort to follow those rules. Thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 15:58, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- You've been editing, so I know you've been online. Can you please tell us if you are the same person as the one who edits under the name User:PaulColemanUSA? If so, please acknowledge this by placing a notice on User:PaulColemanUSA that says something like "This is an alternative account of User:PeterColemanUSA"? In any case, please acknowledge by answering here that you have received, read, and understood the comments that have been posted here. Beyond My Ken (talk) 20:43, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
Hello Ken, Thank you for clarifying this, you are most helpful. I think I understand the comments that you have posted. I am not the same person as User:PaulColemanUSA, he is my brother and we help each other out. Please let me know if you feel additional references (listed below) to the article would be helpful. I am more than happy to include them. Sincerely, Peter

- OK, I will look over those references when I have a chance. I'm in the middle of the todo surrouding my son's graduation from high school so it might be a couple of days. In the meantime, are you saying that you are the Peter Coleman that the article is about, and that your brother is the Paul Coleman who is the subject of that article? If so, please read WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY. Making articles about yourself is not forbidden, but it is strongly discouraged, because of obvious conflict of interest problems. In that respect, your desire to make the article better referenced is a good one. If you are that Peter Coleman, please be careful to keep your edits to the article as neutral as humanely possible, and when other editors remove or alter your edits for reasons of "COI" or "POV" (point of view), don't revert their changes, but discuss with them on the article talk page if you have issues.
- I'll get back to you about the references as soon as I can, if some other editor hasn;t done so before then. Beyond My Ken (talk) 23:11, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- BTW "Ken" is not my name, so "Beyond My Ken" or "BMK" are good ways to refer to me. Thanks/ Beyond My Ken (talk) 23:13, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

Ways to improve Peter Coleman (sailor)
[edit]Hi, I'm Kudpung. PeterColemanUSA, thanks for creating Peter Coleman (sailor)!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. The sub sections are so short that the article, at least for the time being, wouldlook more presentable as a single paragrah.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

- Hello Kudpung. Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to fix some issues regarding the sub sections being so short in the article. I am more than happy to make the changes you suggest. Kindly let me know where I should merge the article (shortening the subsection to a single paragraph). Also, please let me know the best way we should include the below citations...

Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule for this.
Please let me know if you would suggest we include the below for additional notability of the article as well as coverage from independent secondary sources. http://articles.latimes.com/1988-07-09/sports/sp-5675_1_olympic-trials http://articles.latimes.com/1988-07-14/sports/sp-8922_1_u-s-olympic-sailing-trials http://articles.dailypress.com/1996-05-11/sports/9605110084_1_gerard-coleman-soling-races http://archives.savannahnow.com/sav_pdf_archive/text/fr152/B_2324358.pdf http://www.collegesailing.org/hall-of-fame/all-american/1981-all-american-sailing-team
Dear Kudpung,
A nice gentleman (Lawrence Devereaux) from Wikipedia suggested posting the below sources and text. At your convenience, kindly let me know where to go on the talk page to do this. I am not sure where the "request corrections or suggest content" link is.

- Peter: That's the 'fourth' time you've posted those references. Someone will deal with them, you don't need to keep re-posting them. Beyond My Ken (talk) 20:00, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for your patience, I am new to this method of communication. I will wait for someone to post the sources on my talk page. Thank you for understanding.

[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), such as at User talk:PeterColemanUSA, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. Cordless Larry (talk) 21:42, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for your email, this is most helpful.
Have a great day, and I hope the weather is treating you well.
