I have nominated Barbara Sobel, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Barbara Sobel. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. S.G.(GH) ping! 20:01, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Barbara Sobel has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Zad68 (talk) 14:32, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Barbara Sobel. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Zad68 (talk) 15:08, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Barbara Sobel. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Zad68 (talk) 02:16, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I made the article look a little more like a normal Wikipedia biography, put the link to Sobel's own site in a new External Links section (that's the one and only place it goes), and I found a real reference and put it in the article. Take a look at how I did the reference, use that as an example of how to add a reference. Because the article now has a real reference we can remove the request to delete, so I did. It is still not certain that Sobel meets Wikipedia notability guidelines for a biography, so the tag questioning that has to stay for now, but I think the article as it stands now has a good chance of being kept, if you could add a few more references. Thanks... and P.S. I see someone, probably you, made a number of edits without logging in. Please remember to log in before making edits. Zad68 (talk) 14:21, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
