Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Mike Onyebuchi, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one of your contributions does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Questions page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Below are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions. Again, welcome! --VVikingTalkEdits 14:17, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Mike Onyebuchi. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Balaraba Aliyu Inuwa, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted.

You have indicated in your edit summaries that you are the subject's research assistant. Please make the PAID declaration on your user page. You should not edit the article directly but use the edit request wizard to request that edits are made on your behalf. Cabayi (talk) 08:55, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. If the article was correct, I won't bother. It says she is an architect, that is false. It says she is Yoruba, that is false. It says she is the commissioner of public works and infrastructure, that is outdated. So, if you can do your accurate background check on her, I won't bother. 105.112.117.169 (talk) 09:17, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So, University of Sussex is prestigious, Kaduna State University is prominent, and Ahmadu Bello University is renowned. Where you assert you are making corrections you are also adding WP:PUFFERY.
As you have edited the article after being cautioned to declare your Paid COI and to avoid editing the article directly, and you have edited logged out, I must block you for undisclosed paid editing. Cabayi (talk) 11:40, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I noticed that you may have recently made edits while logged out. Please be mindful not to perform controversial edits while logged out, or your account risks being blocked from editing. Please consider reading up on Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts before editing further. Additionally, making edits while logged out reveals your IP address, which may allow others to determine your location and identity. If this was not your intention, please remember to log in when editing. Thank you. Cabayi (talk) 11:29, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.
