Reviewing articles

[edit]

Hi. Great that you're willing to improve some articles, but I want to recommend that you just focus on improving the wording and sourcing of new articles instead of moving them to drafts or nominating for deletion. Tagging for deletion requires experience, I would recommend waiting at least a few months before draftifying / tagging. – Thjarkur (talk) 22:54, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Did you see the above message? You are creating empty deletion nominations. – Thjarkur (talk) 08:48, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Looplips, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to SP Chauhan have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. You should not copy a plot from a source like IMDb. Please write the plot in your own words. Thank you. Machine translations

[edit]

Hello Looplips, Azha.Valliyappa appears to have been created with an automatic machine translation. The output of automatic translation is so poor that there is usually no value in keeping it. Think you could rewrite the article on Valliyappa in normal English?

Another thing, in Poovannan you cited WikiWand and Wiki2.org, both of which are just mirrors of Wikipedia and therefore unusable sources. It's usually necessary to review a site to see if it is WP:USERGENERATED or WP:RS, because user-generated stuff often reaches the top of Google.

Hello, Looplips. I have undone your most recent re-submission of American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story described above. The submission is likely to be declined again, and the third decline is typically recommended to "Reject" the article instead of "Decline", which could lead to draft deletion. I wanted to prevent that since the draft is actually in pretty good shape, but it is not ready to be an article since it has not started filming yet per the film notability guidelines. Three submissions in the span of two days might be even be seen as tendentious editing. Is there something specific in the AfC comments on the draft page that I can clarify for you? The reason it is being rejected is to ensure that only notable films have articles. The Film project has determined that to be notable, a film has to have started shooting its principal photography in the case of future films. Essentially, the goal is to not have articles for films that go into development hell and never actually get made regardless of casting or directing announcements. Exceptions are made when the development process is pretty notable before cancelling a film, but that does not apply here. An example of that would be something that made news for multiple re-writes, conflicts, lawsuits, etc. In this case, with the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing, it is hard to even predict when this project might start filming, but until then, it is not considered notable. Let me know if you have any questions. -2pou (talk) 18:46, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As I said, you will need to give a plausible explanation as to why technical evidence would suggest that you are using multiple accounts. There is no sense in just denying it- either it is true and you need to be honest, or we need more information about why this evidence is leading to an incorrect conclusion. Only checkusers can view the evidence so I can't tell you what it is. Even a checkuser can only tell you generally what it is. 331dot (talk) 08:53, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
