Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited History of the Basques, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Pre-Indo-European (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hi! I saw this edit and I was wondering where you got the Mūöt spelling from. Glottolog has it as Muot (no diacricits) and enthnologue has it as Muöt (no macron). – Uanfala (talk) 11:03, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Lamdacism

[edit]

Hi, I have removed your addition to Lamdacism "and historically in Proto-Indo-Iranian, where the reflexes of PIE phonemes /*l/ and /*r/ and their syllabic variants are all realized as /*r/ or /*r̥/" as it is not about the speech disorder lamdacism. The issue was raised on the article's talk page in October 2018.

This could be mentioned in Rhotacism (sound change) if you have a reference to support it.TSventon (talk) 10:47, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Origin of Loyalties ethnonyms?

[edit]

Greetings Kwékwlos! I noticed that you seem to know a lot about Southern Oceanic toponyms/ethnonyms in particular, so I have a question: would you happen to know the etymology of the three Loyalties linkage ethnonyms (Iaai, Drehu, Nengone)?

Thanks in advance! --ZeegoTheDeer (talk) 03:31, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not exactly sure, because these languages are somewhat phonetically aberrant from POc themselves, as well as difficulty in finding names for other islands/villages in these languages (eg. name of Iaai in Drehu/Nengone). Kwékwlos (talk) 06:29, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ah ok, was just curious, but thanks for letting me know. --ZeegoTheDeer (talk) 20:20, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oceanic Linguistics

[edit]

Hi, you might be interested to know that OL is available via Project MUSE at the WP Library. It's not in the basic package, so you have to apply for it separately. But it's absolutely worth it: next to OL, there's also e.g. Anthropological Linguistics. And then there's De Gruyter in the basic package so you can get access to the more recent Pacific Linguistic volumes. –Austronesier (talk) 19:05, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Doug Weller talk 07:51, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Proto-Eskimoan language

[edit]

Did you notice that Eskimo languages is a redirect to Eskaleut languages? CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 18:35, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Eskaleut languages include Inuit, Yupik, and Aleut, while Eskimo (or Eskimoan) languages include only Inuit and Yupik, but not Aleut. I propose that we create a separate article for the Eskimo (or Inuit-Yupik) languages. Kwékwlos (talk) 18:38, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As a first workaround, I have made the target of the redirect more specific. –Austronesier (talk) 18:46, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
