Vanity insertions

Information icon Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Blog. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:35, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Matthew Putman, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. DGG ( talk ) 04:51, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It is conceivable that Putman is notable enough that somebody should write an article about him. But it would have to be an actual article, with actual solid sources, not at all resembling this puff piece apparently put together by a publicist or other professional falsifier. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:45, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for message. You can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~.

There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections. I deleted your article because it contained direct links to sales sites for his books and url links to his companies. Having looked again, the text itself is OK, so I've restored, removed the spamlinks and replaced indirect links to Wikipedia articles with wikilinks. Please don't re-added the Amazon or similar spamlinks. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:03, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You can't have a fair use rationale for a living person, because, in theory at least, it can be replaced by a free image. It's intended for historic images (eg dead people) or items protected by copyright, like book covers, where a free image is impossible. You need an image taken by you and not previously published so you can release it under our licence or as PD. Alternatively, the owner of a copyright image can release it for Wikipedia use, see here Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:05, 5 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Matthew Putman.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Matthew Putman.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:44, 5 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
