Hackers & Painters
[edit][to RHaworth] Why did you change Hackers & Painters to Hackers and Painters? The corrent spelling of the book is the former. --Jasonm 17:58, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- Why did you create two identical articles called Hackers & Painters and Hackers and Painters? I have destroyed the evidence, but I believe that was the case. We do not create duplicate articles. We create one article, then if alternate titles are considered appropriate, we use
#redirect ''substantive article''
for the other titles. I have moved the article but I would point out that Special:Whatlinkshere/Hackers & Painters votes 2:1 in favour of "and"! -- RHaworth 19:05, 1 March 2006 (UTC) - OK. I do apologise. I now see a redirect in the edit history. I see so many double postings on new pages patrol, just my bad luck that in this case I failed to look at the current state of both versions before I did the move. -- RHaworth 22:12, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- That's OK, I understand. Apology accepted. --Jasonm 22:23, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Welcome to Esperanza!
[edit]Welcome, Jasonm, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. Redwolf24 runs the spam to keep members up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of KnowledgeOfSelf, JoanneB, FireFox and Titoxd. The next set of elections will be in February, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!
Cheers! Sango123 (e) 01:16, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

Frenzyboard
[edit]Noticed that you have posted an AfD for this article, which probably came to your attention because of the edit war. I have not had anything to do with the origin of the article, but would like to clean up the grammar and spelling and remove the personal attacks if that is acceptable. Silly question, probably - but I'm pretty new at this and just stumbled into the article in the middle of it all.... Risker 04:46, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- There has been a load of edits recently, but the main problem with this article is that it doesn't belong in the wikipedia. --Jason (talk) 04:51, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

A short Esperanzial update
[edit]As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.
Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for Image:Hackers & Painters.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Hackers & Painters.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:18, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Hegarty_john2.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Hegarty_john2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 07:13, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Trinity College
[edit]Was the image in question one off of Wikipedia or Schumin Web? If so, you can just either link me to or describe the photo, and I can go from there. No need to photo the page in that case. Thanks for the article, by the way. SchuminWeb (Talk) 21:24, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
File source problem with File:Trinty college old library.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Trinty college old library.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:33, 6 September 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:33, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
