Moving to mainspace
[edit]Please move Draft:L2: Empuraan to mainspace as the film has started principal photography. L2: Empuraan is salted. It is a highly anticipated film in the Malyalam film industry, that's why several articles were created by different editors. There is also another Draft:L2:Empuraan, I don't know what to do about that. Please check if there is anymore parallels. The Doom Patrol (talk) 09:47, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
Request
[edit]If you don't mind, could you undelete Our Miracle and redirect it to Bokura no Kiseki (which is about the same series; the former was deleted at AfD in 2016). It's history might have some content useful for expanding the article. Thanks. Link20XX (talk) 05:31, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
Hi I have a question, I see that this page has been redirected to an existing page. Is there much to go on for merging pages? Crafterstar (talk) 23:28, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Crafterstar: there are no deleted revisions, and your work was already undeleted, visible in the history of the redirect. The article looks to be different text from the draft, so merging is unwarranted. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 03:27, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

Needed chemistry articles
[edit]Can you suggest two or 3 really needed chemistry/materials science articles so I can make a start writing them please? GRALISTAIR (talk) 15:47, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
- I don't think there are any "really" needed articles to write. But from my to-do list there could be N-acetyltaurine, Sodium tetraethyl borate, Difluoramine, Fluoramine, thiophanic acid. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:47, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
- There are some lists around, eg User:Physchim62/Organics; User:Skysmith/Missing topics about Chemistry, User:Graeme Bartlett/missing chemicals (still under construction). Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:03, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Louis Pasteur University alumni
[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:Louis Pasteur University alumni indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 01:07, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

I had the first page on my watchlist, when I realised that someone had redirected it, alrgely because of the typo. Looks like a major copy paste, with the only differences being a few sources. Even everything else including the categories in the same order. Can they be merged? Crafterstar (talk) 22:19, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
- It appears content was copied from Pirates of the Caribbean (film series), which is attributed in the edit summary. That makes no sense to merge, so probably best to attribute by way of writing on the bottom of the page. Categories I will say are not sufficient for copyright to apply. Unprotecting Gianni Schicchi
[edit]Hi Graeme Bartlett. An editor requested unprotecting this on WP:RPPD. Do you have any issues with unprotecting it? It looks like you semi-protected it way back in 2017 and there are no recent signs of disruption. I forgot to check that you had been contacted by the editor before unprotecting it, but I will reprotect it if you have any concerns. We could also try pending changes protection as an intermediate step. Thanks and sorry for not making sure you were contacted first. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 04:12, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

Question from ArtForYouKiev and request for help
[edit]Dear Graeme Bartlett, good evening!
Thank you for viewing the article Max Vityk
I wanted to ask you for help in solving a question related to the article, which arose due to my inexperience. If possible, of course.
I accidentally posted an article about Max Vityk in the Ukrainian Wikipedia, because of which it was already indexed in search engines with an English name. The article was in English and was naturally removed from space.
Now, the article in the Ukrainian Wikipedia was already correctly designed and posted with correct name, but the English version does not appear when searching in the search engine, and the deletion in the Ukrainian with the same name appears.
What can be done to correct English version starts to appear on request, and not a non-existent page?
I will be very grateful for the answer and help, because in the future I will work on many articles and so that such mistakes do not occur again.
Thank you very much, I wish you a nice evening! ArtForYouKiev (talk) 22:31, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
- @ArtForYouKiev: when I do a search for that name, I get the English Wikipedia article in third position and no listing for Ukrainian version. I see a UK version at http://uk.wiki.x.io/wiki/%D0%9C%D0%B0%D0%BA%D1%81_%D0%92%D1%96%D1%82%D0%B8%D0%BA . Searching "Макс Вітик" comes up with UK Wikipedia as first hit for me. Note that Google customises results for each person, so it probably thinks you like UK wiki content. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:44, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
- Understand. Thank you very much for the information and quick response! I wish you a good and productive day! ArtForYouKiev (talk) 22:48, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

User question
[edit]Hello,
In this discussion, doesn't the user that wanted to restore the Kurdish Republic of Lachin article have no right to do so? The articles was previously deleted and there was no consensus to restore it. The user also shouldn't be restoring articles like this because they are not extended confirmed per WP:GS/AA. KhndzorUtogh (talk) 23:29, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Well perhaps AE does not apply, as it applies to politics and conflicts. The page does not seem to be disputed by anyone currently, so does not appear controversial. However it was deleted before because of poor sources. A G5 delete is not appropriate as there is more than one contributor. Is there a problem with the article in terms of not supported by its references? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 03:13, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- The sources on the article are largely based on one source, which makes WP:EXTRAORDINARY claims. But on top of that, this user should not even be editing the article according to the GS/AA restrictions, which require the article to be redirected. This user is not allowed to edit the article, let alone make reverts on it. They’re violating the most important rule for non extended confirmed users in AA which covers this article. Hallo Graeme Bartlett, please could you undelete Draft:Makita AWS (or move to userspace) — the article was mostly written about three years ago, and never quite got finished/migrated. - Done – as a draft that was deleted under CSD G13, the page has been restored upon request. However, the draft namespace, though it is intended to provide some breathing room to create and develop a page without the time pressure of immediate review, is not for the indefinite hosting of material that is unsuitable for inclusion in the article mainspace. Please continue to work on the draft so that it meets Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for inclusion and then submit it for review—at the least, prior to another six months elapsing. When you are ready, a review can be requested by placing this code at the top of the page and then saving:

Your rating of the article on George Pusenkoff
[edit]Dear Graeme, you rated this article with "C". On the Content assessment-site it reads: "Useful to a casual reader, but would not provide a complete picture for even a moderately detailed study." - Could you be so kind to tell me, what you are missing from this article, i really couldn't have covered more of his work, i did cover all. And i had inline citations, etc. - honestly, i was quite surprised about this rating. Some of my articles are rated "B" and i find this one as good as them. Kind regards, Naomi Hennig (talk) 16:48, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Naomi Hennig: B needs a more careful assessment. But there would have to be some media like a picture of the painter to rate a B. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:01, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- Dear Graeme, i don't want to get on your nerves - so, if you are busy and don't have time for this, i completely understand. We do have a problem in Germany with the photographers and artists guild "VG-BildKunst" (this organisation advocates for their rights) - they don't allow us anymore to upload pictures of artwork in wikimedia commons as they don't like the cc 4.0 license... understandable, but unfortunate for the articles... i could look at the homepage of the artist and ask him whether he is in this guild etc. - one question still, what means a "more careful assessment" - is there something i could do for future articles to help with this? As said: if you are busy and don't have time for this, i completely understand! Kind regards, --Naomi Hennig (talk) 21:39, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Eicosatetraeonic acid
[edit]A tag has been placed on Eicosatetraeonic acid requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 109.241.162.167 (talk) 03:55, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

RFA2024 update: no longer accepting new proposals in phase I
[edit]Hey there! This is to let you know that phase I of the 2024 requests for adminship (RfA) review is now no longer accepting new proposals. Lots of proposals remain open for discussion, and the current round of review looks to be on a good track towards making significant progress towards improving RfA's structure and environment. I'd like to give my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has given us their idea for change to make RfA better, and the same to everyone who has given the necessary feedback to improve those ideas. The following proposals remain open for discussion:
- Proposal 2, initiated by HouseBlaster, provides for the addition of a text box at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship reminding all editors of our policies and enforcement mechanisms around decorum.
- Proposals 3 and 3b, initiated by Barkeep49 and Usedtobecool, respectively, provide for trials of discussion-only periods at RfA. The first would add three extra discussion-only days to the beginning, while the second would convert the first two days to discussion-only.
- Proposal 5, initiated by SilkTork, provides for a trial of RfAs without threaded discussion in the voting sections.
- Proposals 6c and 6d, initiated by BilledMammal, provide for allowing users to be selected as provisional admins for a limited time through various concrete selection criteria and smaller-scale vetting.
- Proposal 7, initiated by Lee Vilenski, provides for the "General discussion" section being broken up with section headings.
- Proposal 9b, initiated by Reaper Eternal, provides for the requirement that allegations of policy violation be substantiated with appropriate links to where the alleged misconduct occured.
- Proposals 12c, 21, and 21b, initiated by City of Silver, Ritchie333, and HouseBlaster, respectively, provide for reducing the discretionary zone, which currently extends from 65% to 75%. The first would reduce it 65%–70%, the second would reduce it to 50%–66%, and the third would reduce it to 60%–70%.
- Proposal 13, initiated by Novem Lingaue, provides for periodic, privately balloted admin elections.
- Proposal 14, initiated by Kusma, provides for the creation of some minimum suffrage requirements to cast a vote.
- Proposals 16 and 16c, initiated by Thebiguglyalien and Soni, respectively, provide for community-based admin desysop procedures. 16 would desysop where consensus is established in favor at the administrators' noticeboard; 16c would allow a petition to force reconfirmation.
- Proposal 16e, initiated by BilledMammal, would extend the recall procedures of 16 to bureaucrats.
- Proposal 17, initiated by SchroCat, provides for "on-call" admins and 'crats to monitor RfAs for decorum.
- Proposal 18, initiated by theleekycauldron, provides for lowering the RfB target from 85% to 75%.
- Proposal 24, initiated by SportingFlyer, provides for a more robust alternate version of the optional candidate poll.
- Proposal 25, initiated by Femke, provides for the requirement that nominees be extended-confirmed in addition to their nominators.
- Proposal 27, initiated by WereSpielChequers, provides for the creation of a training course for admin hopefuls, as well as periodic retraining to keep admins from drifting out of sync with community norms.
- Proposal 28, initiated by HouseBlaster, tightens restrictions on multi-part questions.
To read proposals that were closed as unsuccessful, please see Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/2024 review/Phase I/Closed proposals. You are cordially invited once again to participate in the open discussions; when phase I ends, phase II will review the outcomes of trial proposals and refine the implementation details of other proposals. Another notification will be sent out when this phase begins, likely with the first successful close of a major proposal. Happy editing! theleekycauldron (talk • she/her), via:

Removing 'Advert' tag from Vincent Callebaut
[edit]I removed the {{Advert}}
tag you placed on Vincent Callebaut on December 31, 2015. I looked at the accumulated changes since you placed the tag [1], and the current state of the article, and judged that the problem has been corrected. I won't object if you think there are still concerns to be flagged. signed, Willondon (talk) 15:23, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
John Paul (scientist) - draft deleted article
[edit]Hi Graeme. I'm a beginner and spent months preparing an article for Wikipedia. I then spent hours reworking it in response to comments from your editors. Even if you won't restore it then please can you email me a copy of the edited version just prior to deletion so that all my hard work (and that of the reviewers) is not wasted. I had a comment on my citations from a Wikipedia editor, and asked the editor for clarification and advice. A few minutes later my article was recommended for speedy deletion. It was then speedy deleted before I had a chance to do anything. I had quoted in this article from sources that I have obtained copyright from (both the author and the University). I understand the issue was over a copyright infringement I had by quoting an Independent article. I didn't quote anything from the Independent. I only cited an obituary about the scientist. To be honest, I'm still no entirely clear why it was deleted so quickly. So if you can also help advise on this then that would be appreciated. But first and foremost I would like to get a copy of the article before deletion. Some information has been retrieved but it is only a tiny part of what was there. Thank you. RFA2024 update: phase I concluded, phase II begins
[edit]Hi there! Phase I of the Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/2024 review has concluded, with several impactful changes gaining community consensus and proceeding to various stages of implementation. Some proposals will be implemented in full outright; others will be discussed at phase II before being implemented; and still others will proceed on a trial basis before being brought to phase II. The following proposals have gained consensus:
- Proposals 2 and 9b (phase II discussion): Add a reminder of civility norms at RfA and Require links for claims of specific policy violations
- Proposal 3b (in trial): Make the first two days discussion-only
- Proposal 13 (in trial): Admin elections
- Proposal 14 (implemented): Suffrage requirements
- Proposals 16 and 16c (phase II discussion): Allow the community to initiate recall RfAs and Community recall process based on dewiki
- Proposal 17 (phase II discussion): Have named Admins/crats to monitor infractions
- Proposal 24 (phase II discussion): Provide better mentoring for becoming an admin and the RfA process
- Proposal 25 (implemented): Require nominees to be extended confirmed
See the project page for a full list of proposals and their outcomes. A huge thank-you to everyone who has participated so far :) looking forward to seeing lots of hard work become a reality in phase II. theleekycauldron (talk), via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:09, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
Jesus calls
[edit]Jesus calls is a global non profit humanitarian christian ministry. It was deleted from live without any reason. Pls can you help restore the article. Below is the draft link http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Draft:Jesus_Calls_(2) (Spectacularpelican (talk) 10:31, 14 May 2024 (UTC))
- Well the last delete of the article was because it was classed as advertising. Wikipedia cannot be used for promotion. Note there is also Draft:Jesus Calls. Are you connected with or paid by this ministry? If so then you should make a disclosure. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:17, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
Hi Sir, I have not been paid a cent for my edits nor am i employed with the ministry. But I feel its humanitarian causes are worthy. I agree that the earlier article might have been deleted because of promotion. But they have not given any reason why this current article was moved to draft. In my humble opinion, I don't think this article was promotional. Pls could you help http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Draft:Jesus_Calls_(2) (Spectacularpelican (talk) 12:48, 14 May 2024 (UTC))
- The log entry for the user called Fram said this: "Fram moved page Jesus calls to Draft:Jesus Calls (2) without leaving a redirect: Recreation of Jesus Calls, which was speedy deleted yesterday. Needs checking by others to see if issues are resolved ".
- To see if an article on an organisation should exist, at least 3 independent reliable references with substantial content mut write about the topic. The first reference I checked: https://wwww.cbn.com/article/not-selected/vision-nations-dr-paul-dhinakaran does not work. The second: https://web.archive.org/web/20121110034745/http://www.hindu.com/2009/07/09/stories/2009070952880300.htm is "India occupying globally competitive position in space technology" appears to have nothing to do with this topic. Please check if this is correct. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:30, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
Request to be blocked
[edit]Hello,
We've crossed paths before at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion. That being said I noticed you're categorized as one of the Wikipedia administrators willing to consider placing self-requested blocks. I therefore would like you to please block my account as well as my User:Hitcher vs. Candyman account indefinitely. You will find my reason on my user page. Thank you. The Film Creator (talk) 03:10, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- OK @The Film Creator: all the best. I will keep an eye on your talk page for you. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 05:22, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
Hey i am practically done with the major edits with the page. I want it to be published now. If you think it needs to be expanded more let me know. but right now I think it reaches the notability guidelines. Bennyaha (talk) 23:36, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Bennyaha: In your new "Notable Promoters" section there is a table, but no explanation of how this connects to the subject, and no references. So please rectify that. Once ready you can add {{subst:submit}} to the top of the page to get it considered by AFC review. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:58, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- done thanks :) Bennyaha (talk) 00:29, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
CS1 error on Monolayer-protected cluster molecules
[edit]Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Monolayer-protected cluster molecules, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:
- A missing title error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)
Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 00:15, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
"Z" parameter for crystal structures
[edit]In this edit, the Z=... does not make sense for the "unit cell Å" column header (it's a number of chemical molecules in the cell, not the physical size of the cell). Would it be better in a different column? Or does the header need to be updated to include a note about it? DMacks (talk) 22:56, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- I always put it in the column, as it is the number of formulae in the unit cell. Perhaps the header needs to change as there is more space. Often other publications put it next to density or unit cell volume, but I think that is just to make a compact narrow table. Not every publications includes the number, so if they don't it cannot appear. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:21, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
About my draft called “My Angela”.
[edit]On 1 December 2023 I made a request on “Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion” asking for my draft to be undeleted and you undeleted it. You and a user called “Jay” replied to my request. Jay replied first and said, “The draft was just a description of a game, and had no references. Do you have any reliable sources that have coverage of the game?”. Then you replied and said “Done—as a draft or Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13, the page has been restored upon request. They are not hosting of material that is unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. Please continue to work on the draft so that it meets Wikipedia’s policies and guidelines for inclusion, prior so another six months elapsing. @Mate6742: please add references and information about game release, reviews, sales ect.”. I remember seeing that it says something about users needing a Creative Commons license when adding references. I pressed “edit source” next to “References” on the draft and I saw the text in “Source editing” or maybe I went into “Visual editing” while being in “Source editing” and then I saw the text. I was thinking of making a link to the app on the App Store so people can see the reviews but the App Store is copyrighted. As for my request and the replies to it I didn’t see them in “Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion” because they were made on 1 December but I pressed my notifications bell, then I pressed “View changes” and then I saw them in “Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion: Difference between revisions”. So do I need a Creative Commons license when adding references if they are copyrighted? Mate6742 (talk) 10:00, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Mate6742: text that you write here has to have a CC-BY-SA-4.0 license. But references you use do not. The content of the reference can be any license. However reviews on the app store are quite unsuitable, as the app store is a primary source. Find reviews in magazines, newspapers, or prominent independent websites. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:19, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- There are only 11 websites I don’t mind going on and Wikipedia is 1 of them. I don’t like going on other websites. If none of the 10 other websites are suitable then you can go on other websites and I will try to find reviews in magazines. I know you can find reviews for me but I want to try myself a little bit.
- These are 7 of the other websites:
- Google Search.
- I don’t want to say what the other 3 websites are. Mate6742 (talk) 09:58, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Mate6742: I will comment that fandom and youtube are user generated content, and so are not counted as reliable sources in General. However sometime youtube does have content from news agencies or experts, whose content could be reliable. Wikiwand is just a mirror of Wikipedia and so it is no good for referencing either. I don't know about the other sites you list. I am no expert in computer game journalism or reviews so I can't really help out. You don't have to use websites, and magazines are usually better sources. Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games will have more motivated experts. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:57, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
- I just want to say that I will be focusing on adding information and references about game release and sales but first I will focus on adding information and references about reviews. Also when you said that text that I write here has to have a CC-BY-SA-4.0 license on your first reply to my topic did you mean that you need a CC-BY-SA-4.0 to write texts on Wikipedia in articles and drafts. I’ve written texts on Wikipedia in articles and my draft called “My Angela” and drafts that no longer exist and I’ve never had a CC-BY-SA-4.0 license. Also my edit summary to Draft:My Angela on my edit to it 29 December 2023 said “Edited a deleted draft.” in my contributions so the draft might still be deleted. I am confused. Mate6742 (talk) 10:20, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- Whenever you edit and save on Wikipedia you will see this text at the bottom of the page: "By publishing changes, you agree to the Terms of Use, and you irrevocably agree to release your contribution under the CC BY-SA 4.0 License and the GFDL. You agree that a hyperlink or URL is sufficient attribution under the Creative Commons license." so whenever you save you have agreed to that. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:30, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- So the text at the bottom of the page I see whenever I edit and save on Wikipedia means that you need a Creative Commons license to add a URL or sufficient attribution on Wikipedia. Mate6742 (talk) 02:37, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- Well if you add content generated by others then yes. It may be a misrepresentation or copyright infringement if you add content from other people. Otherwise if it is your writing it generates such a license. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:39, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for telling me. Mate6742 (talk) 08:31, 22 June 2024 (UTC)

Moss
[edit]Hi! I see you are also working over at WP:TYPO/MOSS which is great & thanks! I just wanted to let you know that words/errors you fix/define should be deleted, not struck, as said in the "Quick start" section, unless it should be moved down to the "Notes" section with a note. It just makes things less confused, since some people have struck things they merely looked up and not fixed. I don't want to waste my time in general, so I suppose you don't either! Lalaithan (talk) 18:22, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- I strike stuff if someone has made a comment, so their comment remains. I remove if there is no note. Don't check anything that is struck off. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:36, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- Like I said, in general, I do check because some people don't do anything other than strike it out and leave a note. Guess that means my time is better spent elsewhere, which I like knowing before I feel stupid about wasting it on here. Lalaithan (talk) 18:27, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- People that just leave a note, but no strike probably don't fix the issue. Some of those notes are not even helpful, or wrong, (eg say something is correct when it is a spelling error). So it is worth checking notes. Though if you do a double check of struck entries you could delete the lot if you think the notes are no longer useful. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:19, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- I do believe I said that...mais oublie ça. For reasons not involving you, I have a waxing/waning case of WP:DGAF and I think it's terminal. Like I said before, thanks for your work in general. Lalaithan (talk) 01:29, 7 June 2024 (UTC)

Solvent Yellow 7
[edit]Thanks for your comments (and your rejection!!!) - my mistake. I am taking your advice and merging some material - but not all- into the existing Solvent Yellow 7 article. Deletion of article
[edit]Issue with Sandbox Revision
[edit]Hello User Talk, Gareme Bartlett,

Do I need to pay to keep my draft My Talking Angela?
[edit]I changed the name from My Angela to My Talking Angela because My Talking Angela is the correct game name. When you are looking under the app’s square icon on your iPad homepage it says “My Angela” as the app’s name. Anyways on Wikipedia Article Wizard Common mistakes it gives 3 options to tap on. The first option is “I’m paid to edit”. The second option is “I’m writing about myself, or a close person/subject”. The third option is “I’m not connected to the subject”. When I tap on “I’m not connected to the subject” it takes me to Wikipedia Article Wizard Draft Creation. One of the texts on Wikipedia Article Wizard Draft Creation said “WARNING! There is an ongoing scam designed to target new users on Wikipedia! Users impersonating volunteers will ask for published. The assistance provided to you by legitimate Wikipedia editors will always be completely free of charge. Real Wikipedia editors will never contact or solicit you for payment or compensation of any kind. See this scam warning for more information. The words “this”, “scam” and “warning” were made into a link to Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Scam warning. I created this account on 15 July 2021 and I made my first edit on 23 July 2021. 23 July 2021 is almost 3 years ago. I made my first edit while being logged out on 30 January 2021. I’ve been editing Wikipedia for 3 years. I am not a new user. Do I still need to pay to keep or edit my draft My Talking Angela. Mate6742 (talk) 09:22, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Mate6742: You do not have to pay to make an article on Wikipedia. You may have misunderstood the scam warning. There are scammers that ask people to pay to get or keep an article on Wikipedia. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:41, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for telling me. Mate6742 (talk) 10:06, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
- With the references of the draft I know that you said that reviews from the App Store are quite unsuitable as the App Store is a primary source. There is a Google Play Store. Even though that source is an app on a Samsung like how the App Store is an App on an iPad or iPhone there is a Google Play Store website. People can make reviews for apps on the Google Play Store website and My Talking Angela has reviews. Can I use the Google Play Store website as a reference? Mate6742 (talk) 09:47, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Mate6742: reviews on the paystore or appstore are not counted as reliable sources, as they can be contributed by anyone and there is no editorial control. Similarly https://www.commonsensemedia.org/app-reviews/talking-angela/user-reviews/adult has reviews but they are user contributed and not by experts and so cannot be used. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:04, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- Are people who make their games experts because they know everything about their games? Also My Talking Angela is an IOS game instead of a computer game. Mate6742 (talk) 08:34, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- They may well be experts, but they are not independent. You can use their writings for factual info, but such sources do not count for notability. Some Apple product magazine that wrote on it would be independent. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:44, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- Does a page for an Apple product magazine that wrote on the game count for notability? On a website there could be a page for 1 that wrote on the game. I know that when you cite a book the reference links to a page on a website for the book or magazine if you put the URL in the reference to the page but I am just checking. I know that you need a CC-BY-SA-4.0 license to make a URL but not when the URL is in a reference. Also does the magazine need to be written by one of the members of the company that made the app? The company was founded by 2 people but one of the founders left the Company and then there was another person. I don’t know if they have made an Apple product magazine on their app but I will have a look for one that they made. Mate6742 (talk) 08:29, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
- Such an article could count towards notability. But there should be multiple publications on the topic. If the creator of the software wrote the article it may or may not be independent, eg an advert, or if the writing was edited by the magazine editor. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:00, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
- The company who made the game has 2 members so I will try to find an Apple product magazine that wrote on their app. When you say “multiple publications” do you mean 2 authors or do you mean that the magazine should be edited? If you don’t mean either of those things then what do you mean? Mate6742 (talk) 00:03, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- Well I mean both. To show notability, there should be at least two publications, that are independent, reliable and substantial. Editing is part of reliability. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:30, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- I have not started to find an article for an Apple product magazine that wrote on the company that made the game yet. I’ll start to try to find one on Sunday but today I want to ask if the magazine has to be edited by 2 people. I think it might be because it has to be written by 2 people. Mate6742 (talk) 08:14, 16 August 2024 (UTC)

File:International Table Soccer Federation logo.png
[edit]Hi Graeme. Do you think File:International Table Soccer Federation logo.png needs to be split? It was originally uploaded as {{Non-free logo}} and then recently updated by the same uploader. Both versions seem to be too simple to be eligible for copyright protection per c:COM:TOO US, though I'm not sure about c:COM:TOO France; so, I relicensed the file as {{PD-ineligible-USonly}}. The older version was actually tagged for deletion per WP:F5, but now that's probably not necessary. Since the source url wasn't changed when the logo was updated, I assuming the older version can probably be seen on a previous version of the ITSF's official website. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:33, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- If anyone wants to use that old logo, then it would need to be split. However the old logo has a 3D appearance with shading so may have enough for copyright to apply. So perhaps it could be erased from view. I agree that the new one would be too simple for US copyright. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:40, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking a look at this. The old logo seemed a bit fuzzy to me when I looked at it the first time, but it's certainly not as simple as the updated logo. Can the older version still be tagged for speedy deletion per WP:F5 using {{Orphaned non-free revisions}}? -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:51, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- Good idea. I could just do it without tag too. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 04:36, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- I tagged the file as such. Someone will end up deleting the older version if you don't do so first. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:23, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

Re-deletion or split request
[edit]Hello, Graeme Bartlett, I started and have worked on the draft at Draft:Interior Chinatown (TV series) with others, and after some recent developments, I was considering if it was time to publish it, but I noticed some strange early history of the page. It appears that there was an old, deleted draft at a different title created by a blocked user. It appears that the blocked editor moved the draft to the other title and then end-around history "merged" the old into the new via this undeletion request: Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion/Archive 379#Draft:Interior Chinatown, before moving it back to the original title. As the content in those edits was totally WP:PARALLEL and not used in the creation of the new draft (Special:Diff/1115891159, and the user was subsequently blocked, would you consider either history splitting those edits (up to 26 March 2022) back where they came from at Draft:Interior Chinatown, or just re-deleting them? I came to request here since you were the un-deleting admin. Either way, thank you for your consideration. Regards, 2pou (talk) 00:54, 16 July 2024 (UTC)

A complicated copyright issue
[edit]Well, woof, I missed a lot of CC-BY papers today, but on this one I feel there is a copyvio:
[2] - CC-BY-ND.
[3] - Scroll to the bottom: copyright notice by ADAM. Here's the copyright page.⸺RandomStaplers 07:26, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- Forgot to say this, but this article is on Neonatal abstinence syndrome, so I'm going to revert this for now, if you'll bear with me.⸺RandomStaplers 07:27, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- @RandomStaplers: So https://medlineplus.gov/about/using/usingcontent/ tells us that it is public domain as a work by the USA government. CC-BY-ND means that it should not be used here and so should be reverted. But it is not so egregious that it need a revision delete. After all it may be copied, and is legal to put in Wikipedia. But it is against our policy and stated licence, the CC license allows the issues to be resolved, and it has been done by its removal. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:40, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- Umm... it rev-deleted anyway, but just in case you were wondering, pay attention to the bottom of the page, I'll blockquote [4]:

Account hacked
[edit]Hey, you said I should post from my account to prove my identity, so here I am. I can also prove I hold the email accounts I have registered with. The compromised account is MxArya. Please help MxYamato (talk) 08:57, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, @MxYamato: I can block MxArya on en.wiki; but the appears to be no editing; but the advice is to contact a steward. Did you checkout the advice link? WP:HACKED You can probably get the email reset and password then reset to your choice. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:04, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- I'll try for password reset tomorrow as I have exhausted the one reset link a day limit. I suspect I registered both accounts with the same email, hence the problem, but it is also the case that my credentials were exposed. I'll try reset tomorrow when the limit renews and if I still can't access my account, I'll let you know and then just block it indefinitely.
- Also, it seems my translatewiki.net account has been compromised, any advise? The username is MxYamato MxYamato (talk) 09:27, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- The password reset applies to all Mediawiki wikipedias. If your password was the same on translatewiki.net that could be why multiple things were compromised. But I do not have any advice for that site. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:40, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
TCFH Chembox Info
[edit]Graeme, Thanks for adding the CompTox Dashboard ID to the Chembox info for TCFH. I was having trouble adding some information when I created it. Could you help me to add this too since I see it on other chemistry pages? - @Aldol732: to get ECHA infocard, you need to have a Wikidata item for the substance linked. Then it will be imported from Wikidata. I have linked it for you: http://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q72507534 Graeme Bartlett (talk) 06:25, 1 August 2024 (UTC)

Draft:Calix4pyrrole Tetramer
[edit]Thank you for adding the comment to Draft:Calix4pyrrole Tetramer. The correct molecular formula of calix[4]pyrrole is definitely C₂₀H₂₀N₄. That was mistakenly typed when I pasted it from my clipboard. ZeetBaralWiki (talk) 07:29, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- The term “tetramer” might be misleading because calix[4]pyrrole itself is already a macrocyclic compound made up of four pyrrole units. Should the word 'Tetramer' be there? ZeetBaralWiki (talk) 07:37, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- @ZeetBaralWiki: Well you should use whatever reliable sources use. On this URL https://legacy.chemspider.com/Chemical-Structure.7827582.html the substance is called "porphyrinogen" which is a kind of Hexahydroporphyrine. But chemspider is not the best source to use. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:29, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- @ZeetBaralWiki Your draft is total fiction, as I have now commented on it. Did you use ChatGPT or similar to produce it? Mike Turnbull (talk) 11:50, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Graeme Bartlett I've seen your comment. The writing is not finished yet, so there is no source provided. The information in the chembox template is incorrect because I copied it from another Wikipedia article. There are also other problems for some problems of my notepad. Since this is a draft, I will fix these. If you want, you can help me with that. ZeetBaralWiki (talk) 12:33, 20 August 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Please take another look at [5] in Dina Butti - the effect of adding "not a typo" to a string beginning with a hashtag is not what might be expected. I've had the same problem elsewhere. Would "nowiki" work instead? Ingratis (talk) 04:49, 1 September 2024 (UTC)

soft delete challenge?
[edit]You restored List of telecommunications companies in Europe and List of telecommunications companies in Asia and Oceania which too me are clear violations of WP:NOTADIRECTORY. I am curious, where are soft delete challenges? Because in all my years on wikipedia, I don't even know where one goes to do that. Govvy (talk) 21:16, 1 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Govvy: Happens at WP:REFUND. Check out the instructions and requests and responses there. Several different kinds of deletion can be contested and reversed. You could also directly ask the deleting admin, or any other admin. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:36, 1 September 2024 (UTC)
- Cheers, I really can't remember if I've ever used refund myself. I also don't get why people make article phone books on the list of telecom companies. Alas, those articles really didn't see much activity at AfD for these articles, strange how certain projects and associated articles can get people talking at AfD and some other articles get very little. Anyway, hope you have a good day, I've goto work now. Cheers. Govvy (talk) 09:00, 2 September 2024 (UTC)

The article Ven Kirantidiye Pannasekera has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Lack of notability
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 03:18, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

Precaution statements
[edit]Hi Graeme,
Should the chemicstry articles (e.g. butralin or isoproturon) have so many precaustionary statements? Many of them are obvious or basic, things like "read all safety instructions", "do not eat"; does it belong on wikipedia?
-ROS RustyOldShip (talk) 14:16, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- @RustyOldShip: I would say that most precautionary statements are quite obvious. Most common is don't put it in the eye. What P phrases I put in are the ones visible on PubChem. The basic rule is verifiability. It should be OK in the Chembox to have codes, but would be undue to include in the text. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:48, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
