[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 18:46, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, thank you for this information. I see you are an administrator, could you please delete the John Winthrop (Connecticut) and John Winthrop (scientist) redirects, I made them trying to make space for the move but I don't think they are likely search terms. I moved the article as while John Winthrop the Younger is understood, he was commonly called John Winthrop Jr. in letters addressed to him in his own time. If it is not policy to move articles in such cases I apologize. Gazingo (talk) 18:58, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

Proposed deletions

Kindly retract your AfD of History of the Jews in Cambodia
[edit]Hi, and welcome to WP. I have spent over twenty years gathering material to build up a comprehensive history of the Jews in all of the world's countries, see Category:Jewish history by country. Some countries are large and some are small. Some Jewish communities are likewise small or large or old and new, but still they are part of the Jewish history of those countries and of Jewish history and the Jews in general. See my response to your nomination at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/History of the Jews in Cambodia: Your premise about the history of the Jews in any country, i.e. Jewish history, is wrong because Jews are ALWAYS a tiny minority compared to surrounding populations. For example, in the world today there are about seven billion people while there are only about 15 million Jews on planet Earth. Yet Jews are to be found everywhere and they always make WP:N contributions to their host nations regardless if they arrived there fifty years ago or five hundred years ago and regardless if they amount to 500 people or 500,000 people. Please note WP:DONOTDEMOLISH! Therefore, kindly withdraw your nomination because it interferes with the goal of building a comprehensive history of the Jews in all countries and nations on WP, no matter how large or small those Jewish communities are they are all part of the Jewish People who are a tiny, yet very much WP:N nationality and religious group in the world both historically and in the present! Thank you for your understanding! 23:03, 20 October 2024 (UTC) IZAK (talk) 23:03, 20 October 2024 (UTC)

DYK for Saybrook Colony
[edit]On 5 December 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Saybrook Colony, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Saybrook Colony was sold to Connecticut for an annual payment of 180 pounds of equal quantities of wheat, peas, and either rye or barley? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Saybrook Colony. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Saybrook Colony), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

For massively improving the article on Saybrook Colony. You turned it from something that felt done almost obligatorily to something that stands out through the clear passion and effort put into it. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 05:01, 5 December 2024 (UTC) |
Disambiguation link notification for December 17
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Gnarls Barkley, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Silver Lake, California. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
