Orphaned non-free media (File:LaurynHillRedemptionSong.ogg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:LaurynHillRedemptionSong.ogg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:00, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Bachata (dance), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.ezdancing.com/classes/other-dances/bachata. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 14:10, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

More about splitting
[edit]Hi. :) I note that you recently performed a split of material to the article Bachata (dance), and I just wanted to drop you a note to point out a few things about the procedure. As Wikipedia:Split sets out, when we split material, we have to provide a direct link to the source article. While you noted the split, you did not fully identify the source. This is necessary because Wikipedia's contributors do not release their material into public domain, but retain rights to authorship under the terms of GFDL. This wikilink satisfies that requirement by allowing readers to access the history and see who contributed what and when. Usually, we put into the edit summary something along the lines of "Split from Bachata (music)". Then, we note the split as well in an edit summary at the source article. That would read like "Material split to Bachata (dance)", in this case. This helps make sure that the article is not later deleted, as it cannot be as long as the article to which the material has been split remains. I have fixed the problems with this split (including adding a template to the source article's talk page), but I wanted to let you know for future use. Thanks, and if you have any questions about this, please feel free to leave a line at my talk page. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:55, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Copyediting request
[edit]Hi. I saw your name at the Guild of Copyeditors, and I was wondering if you would be interested in copyediting the article The Return of Dr. Octagon? It is currently a good article nominee, and I may nominate it as a FAC soon. (Ibaranoff24 (talk) 02:01, 27 January 2009 (UTC))
Speedy deletion of Alexandra Cabrera
[edit]A tag has been placed on Alexandra Cabrera requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 08:52, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of List of idioms about incompetence
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of idioms about incompetence, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- List of questionable value. Not a particularly encyclopedic topic.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Replaceable fair use Image:Monchy & Alexandra - Hoja en Blanco.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Monchy & Alexandra - Hoja en Blanco.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 19:47, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with File:Hot Rod soundtrack cover.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Hot Rod soundtrack cover.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}}
(to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 12:23, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm on a Boat
[edit]The grammar seems fine to me- select and choose are just using synonyms so you're not repeating (my background is in creative writing). I'm more focus on brevity and not quoting the coupon at it looks unprofessional, changing the words in that line doesn't really bother me. I don't really like repeating "bandmember" either but I think it's important to point out the joke is he excludes one of his bandmates & friends and picks T-Pain.
Try this on for size:
The video opens with Andy Samberg, sitting at a table with bandmates Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, pouring cereal into a bowl. To his delight, a coupon for a free boat ride for three falls out of the box. While selecting who will go with him, Samberg picks Schaffer but skips over Taccone in favor of the previously unseen rapper T-Pain.
BTW it's nice to meet a sane and rational person on here, you seem like good people. --208.38.59.163 (talk) 20:51, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- I think you're a little too strict on grammar lol. I just threw wikilinks for TLI's members (T-Pain is already linked earlier), I think your wording is good. --208.38.59.163 (talk) 22:46, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
Date linking
[edit]Hi, I noticed that you wikilinked the dates on The Killers (band). There is currently an injunction in place against linking or delinking dates, see MOS:SYL. I know it was only a few dates, so probably falls outside "mass linking/delinking", but just thought you should know. --JD554 (talk) 14:34, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of faux pas (third nomination).
