Ref conversion
Hi, I notice you converted the references in Principle of least action to use inline refernces. I'm sure you're intentions were good, but ... Please don't. That is an absolutely horrible way of doing references, making the article extremely hard to maintain! I know I should not complain here, I'll take this elsewhere, but in the meanwhile, don't convert any other articles. (Honestly, I'd like to get the inline referencing style banned. There could not possilby be any worse way of doing things. Oh well. Two steps forward, one step back, sometimes.) linas 14:52, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- You are right, you should not complain here. That is a matter of opinion, not Wikipedia policy. Best wishes on trying to get it banned, but until it does, I can use whichever style I like. --Esprit15d 02:36, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Hey, just thought I'd mention that I added your signature to your comments to the above user. I'm trying like mad to get him/her to wikify their own articles, add stubs, categories etc, but it's proving difficult! Anyway, just wanted to let you know what I did. Budgiekiller 20:00, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

It is playing in Italy, and the commenter is Caressa. References? Somthing more than hearing it on national radios about 20 times a day since 10 july? I've just blocked this user per your report on WP:AIV. You left a 'You have been blocked' message on the user's talk page some minutes before you reported the incident. I'm curious as to why you archived the entire Clay Aiken Talk pages. Some of the discussions there were waiting on further information before being added to the article. Maria202 17:00, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
Hi Esprit! You said Rev. Dr. Alyn E. Waller, Senior Pastor was a copyvio. But unless you can give a URL for the copyvio, it can't be assessed for deletion. Care to try to re-nominate it with the information? Thanks! ➨ ЯEDVERS 19:36, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- If you look at the page history, I imput the url, but it wouldn't show up in the template. No clue why, must be a glitch. I even looked at the template to see if it had been changed, but I didn't see any. And I've been using that template all day.--Esprit15d 19:41, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

You added the {{rfd}} tag to TheOddfest the other day. However, you did not list it at WP:RFD. I have removed the rfd tag. If you still wish to nominate it for deletion, please follow all the instructions at WP:RFD. I would note, however, that redirects of this type are typically kept. Two Things Cited for "Speedy Deletion"
Hello, I am in the process of writing a Wikipedia article about a soon to be released game called "The Spoils". Unfortunately, within minutes of writing it, it was nominated for deletion because it wasn;t done, it still is not but now at least has some content, I request the deletion tag be removed while I am still working on it.
Also, an image asociated with the article, the game's logo, has been cited ofr deletion, even though I have recieved(and linked to proof of) premission to use the files.
I would appriciate any help you could give on the matter.
--Cosmic Larva 21:48, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Thankyou so much, I really appriciate it. I'll try the file under a different name, I said it was "with premission" because it was, I did not know that I should have chosen logo, now I do, thanks for the help.

Template help
I am working
on a template ({{FGAN}}), and I used {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTDAY}}, {{CURRENTYEAR}} to show the date that the template was applied. However, everyday, the date is updated. So then I thought that I could add subst:
to the template to make the date "stick." Then it dawned on me that as soon as I hit save, this will only make the template read "August 11, 2006" forever. This I thought to nowiki the subst, but then that would carry over to when I actually use it. Is there anyway to make the date automatically appear, but not update itself daily?--Esprit15d 19:15, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but try using this in the template and substing the template on the page that needs it:
{{<includeonly>subst:</includeonly>CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{<includeonly>subst:</includeonly>CURRENTDAY}}, {{<includeonly>subst:</includeonly>CURRENTYEAR}}

On the Record (musical revue) GA failure
First of all, thank you so much for your constructive comments on the article On the Record (musical revue) after failing it's good article nomination. I have changed the image tags and added fair use rationale to those that specifically require it. Also, I have used names of specific reviewers and publications on the Response section to avoid the use of weasel words. Hopefully, this has addressed criteria #4 and #6 (though I would love you to look it back over).
I do, however, feel that that the article meets criteria #3. There is a fine line between what is broad coverage of a topic and what is superfluous fancruft. I did add a sentence or two about its lack of marketing and disappointing, small audiences, but there is honestly not much more I can put about the success of the show. Unless musicals are major hits, the budget and revenue is almost never released (believe me, I have looked). The only musical (well...opera, technically) that has achieved FA status is Porgy and Bess which doesn't mention the financial success of the show at all.
I also think that a section on merchandise is extremely crufty. I could say The show sold T-shirts, caps, keychains, and posters that say On the Record on them before and after the show and during intermission but that is just so redundant, because every professional show does that. As for the soundtrack.... Including a section on the recording would be an exact replica of the already existing Music section, because the show includes no dialogue. The soundtrack isn't exactly extremely notable or popular, either, being #56,893 in Music on Amazon.com, so I feel it is only worthy of it's brief mention. I would really like to see this article achieve GA status, so if you could please help me better understand your comments, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again. — warpedmirror (talk) 16:38, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Image:Del Harvey.jpg
Hi, thanks for uploading Image:Del Harvey.jpg. The image description doesn't mention where you got the image, though; just that it's a TV screenshot. Wikipedia image rules require the source to be listed; I've tagged the image accordingly. I'm also not sure it qualifies for fair use on the Del Harvey article. According to the copyright tag, an image with that tag can only be considered fair use "for identification and critical commentary on the ... program and its contents." The Del Harvey article doesn't talk about this program at all, unless it's from Dateline. You might want to add a detailed fair-use justification to the image description page. John Mayer Trio/John Mayer
I'm going to re-include the John Mayer Trio album "Try!" as to remain consistent as all albums where Mayer is a primary contributor. Please do not delete this again. This is in keeping with the WikiProject Albums in relation to page consistency, in which you'll see that all albums where an artist provides a major contribution is considered to be a part of that contributors albums.
The same applies to Ben Folds, and should also with Dave Matthews, Eric Clapton and John Mayer. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:202.147.44.80 (talk • contribs) 22:44, 15 August 2006.

- Well, if you look at the image talk page you will see that I was concerned also, but i guess with the information you gave me, it is not copyright. Also, I credited (or I will if I forgot) both Futurama and the site at which I got the font. --WillMak050389 15:50, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
nonsense
The problem is that "neologicism and inappropriately titled" aren't speedy criteria under WP:CSD. When it can be argued that it's nonsense, even if not totally incoherent (a frigate is a ship, not a bird), I'll at least make the attempt. An admin can always reject the tag. Glenn Ford image
I'm concerned that the Wikipedia copyright police will probably delete the Glenn Ford Superman image you added fairly quickly, due to lack of "fair use rationale". Although you have added the proper licensing tag, that's no longer considered sufficient. You need to indicate who holds the copyright, the year of copyright (presumably 1978 Warner Brothers Pictures), and you also need to add a sentence or two explaining why the image has been uploaded. Also, there's a technicality that has created a real tug-of-war on Wikipedia. Technically screenshots can only be used on articles about the film -- not the actors -- however the current wording says "contents" of a film may also be illustrated, and I contend that this includes the actors. Anyway, you might want to go back in and extend the image summary in order to (hopefully) avoid the image being deleted by some keener. Cheers! 23skidoo 17:12, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- I didn't upload the Glenn Ford image. I just added it to that particular article. It was uploaded by someone over a year ago, and is currently linked to three articles and a user page. The user Postdlf might have more information on the actual image.--Esprit15d 17:16, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- No worries. I added the appropriate rationale myself. But it turns out I was right as someone tried to delete the image right after you added it to the article. I have put the image back as my interpretation of the wording on the Fair use tag is that it is allowed for the reasons I stated above. Between you and me, I expect someone will remove the main image soon, too, as it seems there is a move afoot to remove virtually all images from Wikipedia because of copyright paranoia. Anyway, thanks for the quick reply. 23skidoo 17:25, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
Concern about the GA status of Joe Beevers
Howdy! I recently failed the article Ram Vaswani due to concerns about the lack reliable sources and lack of a sufficent lead. One of the editors on that article's talk page put this article and it's GA status up as a comparision point. In looking at the Beever's article, I see that it has the same issue with using blogs/internet forum as the majority of its sources, which don't stack up with the guidelines listed in WP:RS. I also have concerns that the article's lead doesn't fit with the guidelines at WP:LEAD-namely because it doesn't assert the subject's notability and why one should want to read the article. There is a minor concern about the inclusion of the Trivia section but again that is minor compared with the lack of reliable sources. My concerns may lead me to want to de-list the article, but I would want to discuss that with you first for your views. I appreciate your time. Agne 03:12, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

The Fray (band) GA Review
Thanks for your comments on The Fray's GAC. I have combined the How to Save a Life section and the current events section, and fixed the prose so that it would be readable even if the page hadn't been updated in a while. I also changed the name of the "other releases section", and put the <small> on the chart names in the singles discography. As for the proposed "selected events" section, I'm not sure what to put there. That section will probably be handy when and if The Fray are nominated for any major awards. There's not likely to be any arrests in the band given their strict Christian upbringing, and they've been too busy promoting their album for any charity events so far. I'll keep the article updated if any events like those happen, but for the time being there isn't much to report. Do you think that the article would now qualify for Good Article status? Thanks. I'm happy to see how quickly my well-intentioned, but apparently misdirected efforts were noticed by someone. I'll get rid of the Vocal technique article and contribute what I can to Singing, if you think that'd be best. Thank you for messaging me. Template update
I've reverted your addition of a statement about time sensitive statements on Template:Update. Thanks for uploading Image:Charney apres ski ad.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu Badali 22:24, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

You have added cfd tag to this category. Then you must also add this tag to all other categories that follow the same format. Please check [[1]]. Siddiqui 15:55, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- I created this category and most of the pages. I was busy and plan to add info in all yearly pages.

indexing
Hi, I have just undone some changes which you made to the articles on Christine McCafferty and Steve McCabe. As you will see in a telephone directory, names such as MacCarthy, Maccarthy and McCarthy are all indexed together as if they were all Maccarthy: this is because the capitalisation is often inconsistent within a family, and the "Mc" form is a contraction of "Mac". So the convention on wikpipedia is to index such names with the prefix standardised to "Mac", and the rest of the name in lowercase (because WP's indexing is case-sensitive). --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 03:17, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
Michael Cosgrave
re your correction to Michael's entry I just wondered why you to chose to make the change: not notable. Member of a college troupe, that didn't even last long. Googling this name with "Raymond" only turns 176 hits, most of which are wiki mirrors or something else entirely.}}
You seem to have heard something about the Seven Raymonds though if you are 25 then you cannot have been at Oxford University with them!? Don't forget Michael was a member and the Seven Raymonds were the start of successful careers for Stuart Lee, Richard Herring and Emma Kennedy.
Yours in theatre, Stager

List of troubadours
I am wondering whether to revert your changes. The list was in alphabetical order by first name: you seem to be alphabetizing it by last name (though, as you say, more work is required to complete the job). But, in the case of medieval names, alphabetizing by last name doesn't make much sense. The last name of a medieval European is not usually a surname; more often a nickname, a place of birth or a place of work. Andrew Dalby 15:23, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. No, no question of vandalism -- we are all just doing our best in a sadly imperfect world! Andrew Dalby 15:49, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I've seen you has informed User:Robertaroland about the speedy delete of the article above with the reason of missing notability. I have reverted the article Viscount St Davids, where the same User has tried to insert a link (see [2]). It seems now that he has created an article about the oldest son und heir of Colwyn Philipps, 3rd Viscount St Davids (through this of course notable), but failed to pipe the redlink. So would you please revert the deletion (or let revert the deletion), if his try has any worth? Greetings ~~ Phoe talk 16:07, 7 November 2006 (UTC) ~~
- Ah sorry, I thought you were also responsible for the deleting. But before I ask an admin, is the article worth having anybody restore him or was it absolute rubbish? ~~ Phoe talk 16:28, 7 November 2006 (UTC) ~~
- Aye, then I will try it ... thanks ~~ Phoe talk 16:33, 7 November 2006 (UTC) ~~
Article about Wikipedia Users
Hello,
I am a freelance writer working on an article about the wide array of people who make Wikipedia their life, their passion, their pastime. Wikipedia “addicts” if you will. I’m looking for people just willing to tell their story of how they got sucked into the intellectual whirlwind that is Wikipedia; how you got started editing, how the obsession grew, and what you spend your time focusing on these days? Do you write articles from scratch? Is your main push toward one particular type of article? Do you patrol for typos and errors, or spend your time diligently fixing vandalism? Do you take part in the “social aspects” of Wikipedia; engaging in animated discussions or decorating your user page with all sorts of internet memes? Have you ever forced yourself to take a “Wikipedia break”? If so, what’s your 20/20 hindsight on the obsession? Basically I’m just trying to get an idea of what it’s like for various Wikipedia “addicts.” If you are interested in participating, please email me at brianwrites@gmail.com
If anybody else, other than this user is interested in participating, feel free to email me as well. This article is intended to be a light informational piece, nothing too heavy or controversial, just merely introducing readers to a subculture that they likely had no idea existed. So please don’t email me with your conspiracy theories, or your grudge against the Wikipedia hierarchy… unless it directly applies to your overall experience with the site. This article is about the USERS, not about the pros and cons of the site itself.
Thanks,

Image:Michaeljacksonm.jpg listed for deletion
An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Michaeljacksonm.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Image:Christine Elise at Sundance.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Christine Elise at Sundance.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Oden 23:08, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Deleted. Next time apply {{db-author}} instead. - crz crztalk 16:45, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
I userfied this to User:Prozach and as you tagged it for db-bio. FYI, it's now a userpage, so you may want to remove the tag (or not, it's really not a big deal). It had already been deleted once, so I thought that making it his userpage was a faster way to get rid of the nonsense. Cheers Dina 19:29, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

External links from non-religious articles to watchtower.org
Hi. As part of my volunteering with Wikiproject Spam, I recently spent time cleaning up spam from a number of African wildlife articles. I was surprised to keep seeing all these watchtower.org links. After checking, I saw you had added many of these. A quick search showed over 200 watchtower.org links, most of them very appropriately linked to Jehovah's Witnesses or theological articles:
I don't think you should have added all these other links, however. It really starts to look like a linking campaign. Here's a sample; I'm not done cleaning up:

- 7 August 2006: Hearing [4]

Ref conv
Sorry for the downtime. References converter is now back up and running. About a week ago the hard drive in my server crashed. Luckily it stayed together long enough to allow me to pull all the data off onto a new hard drive, but I still had to go through the process of installing Linux on the new hard drive, installing all the necessary programs, and loading in all of the old data from the server. I got all of my essential services up within two days (CVS, Apache, Wiki), but I kind of forgot about web scripts, which I finally got around to fixing today. Everything should be fully functional again. If you see any bugs, just send me a message. You are receiving this message because you are on the spamlist. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, simply remove your name. --Cyde Weys 19:14, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Street press
Hi Esprit15d, I notice you've recently replaced the contents of the article street press with the contents of Steve Roach. I know this was probably an honest mistake, but please be more careful in the future. I have fixed up the page already. Thanks!

Canadian Football League
Please do not convert the references in the "Teams" section of Canadian Football League. The {{ref}}/{{note}} style is used there in order to maintain a separate series of notes for that section only. Additionally, please check your work when you do convert - the conversion was incomplete and created some broken references. heqs 22:53, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
