Deadpool 2

[edit]

The source you keep adding does not confirm Tan's involvement. Changing which site is reporting it does not change the original source. - adamstom97 (talk) 04:08, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If that's the case, what source is valid in your eyes? If other actors (Terry Crews, etc) were cast in roles that were clearly confirmed, via still shots from a trailer breakdown on a reporting website, do you believe that to be a valid source? If you answer yes, then why is Tan, the one to be singled out in this instance? The secondary sources that I presented to you, reported his involvement in the movie using a still shot of the actor. Furthermore, those sources even, cited Tan's twitter post as confirmation that he will be in the film. What other evidence do you want me to present that you believe to be valid? I would love to hear your thoughts on that matter. Thanks. Elainasla (talk) 15:17, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

All of the actors who we are saying are confirmed for the film have sources that actually say they are in it. The source you keep providing for Tan only says "recognize someone?", which could mean anything. You can infer from that phrase what you want, as can reporters, but Wikipedia needs something a bit more concrete. - adamstom97 (talk) 21:27, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Donald Paul (actor)

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Donald Paul (actor). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Donald Paul. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Donald Paul. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. reddogsix (talk) 23:33, 19 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:24, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Sen Mitsuji has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Way WP:TOOSOON, the subject has had one major role in a YouTube Premium series, which is not enough to meet WP:NACTOR. Does not meet WP:GNG, all coverage in RS is mere-mentions

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. signed, Rosguill talk 23:14, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

nonfree images

[edit]

After I saw you uploaded a nonfree image to illustrate the article on Caroline Kepnes I took a look at your wikipedia upload log. I saw about half of the hundred or so images you uploaded have been deleted -- I don't know if you noticed that.

There are a small number of quality control volunteers who take a very strict interpretation of NFCC, who, rather than initiating discussions when they find nonfree use rationale's questionable, simply excise those images from the articles -- sometimes using insulting or misleading edit summaries. If no-one notices, the images get deleted.

Are you frustrated by the lack of explanation as to why the wikipedia's use of nonfree images is much stricter than the legal requirements?

It has been a frustration for me. Not long ago I looked into the discussion that occurred at the beginning of NFCC. My interpretation? That narrow strictness wasn't initially present.

My interpretation? The strict harshness wasn't part of the policy, and there hasn't been any later discussions that resolved to make the policy as strict as the advocates of strictness claim.

One of the issues they won't budge on is nonfree usage that they claim interferes with the copyright owner's ability to make money from their photos. In doing so I think they are forgetting the underlying reason we grant copyright, that we have laws that allow photographers, writers, composers, film-makers and inventors, to control and profit from their creative work. We passed those laws that give creative people limited term exclusive rights to control and profit from their creative work because we believe in "progress". We, western societies, generally believe new inventions, new ways of expressing ideas, and the expression of new ideas, benefits society as a whole. We want them to keep developing new inventions, keep finding new ways of expressing ideas.

And where do the laws on "fair use" come in? The same legislatures that passed the laws on copyrights and patents passed laws on fair use that allowed limited conditions where third parties can use a copyrighted image, even if it interferes with their ability to profit from that image. Those same legislatures figured that, under those limited conditions, allowing third parties to use the copyrighted image benefitted the public good more powerfully than allowing the copyright holder to restrict usage of the image.

When it applies, legally, fair use trumps the rights of copyright holders.

The closest those who argue for the very strict controls on nonfree images get to justifying the restrictions they favour is to claim that, when we make a fair use of an image we have no control over when and how our readers may re-use that image. They point out our readers may download the image we used in a legitimate fair use context, and re-use it in a way that could not be justified under fair use.

But this is no different than our use of images licensed under GFDL or CC. We can't control whether our readers in turn respect those licenses, when they re-use images we re-used. I know, for a certain fact, that good faith readers routinely lapse from respecting the original licenses of our images. Every six months I do a google image search, to see how images I have taken are being used. What I find is that the images I took, that are credited to me when they were re-used, are vastly outnumbered by CC or GFDL images, that are credited to me, but which I merely uploaded. Our image description pages are poorly designed, make the uploader more prominent thant the original photographer, and good faith readers are fooled as to who to credit.

What should we tell the original photographers who see their images being re-used in a way that lapses from their licenses? I think we tell them "Sorry. Thanks for releasing your fine image under a free license. We respected your license. Your dispute is with our reader, not us." And, so far as I am concerned, when we make use of nonfree images that complies with the laws on fair use, we can tell the copyright holder something similar when our readers re-use those images in a way that does not comply with fair use. "Your dispute is with our reader, not us."

Feel free to call on me if this image, or another nonfree use image, is challenged. Geo Swan (talk) 21:56, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please create articles the correct way

[edit]

I see you made You (Season 2), which then had to be moved. I think you've edited enough season articles/TV series articles at this point to know we don't capitalise the "s" in season when disambiguating. If you wanted to have your name first in the history, then please create a draft for it or create it in your user space and ask for it to be moved using WP:RM/TR. Creating the article at a miscapitalised namespace is not right. Ss112 08:44, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Replaceable fair use File:Caroline Kepnes.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Caroline Kepnes.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:33, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Designated Survivor (season 3), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ABC (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

File:Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg 1.png listed for discussion

[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg 1.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for discussion. Please see the discussion to see why it has been listed (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry). Feel free to add your opinion on the matter below the nomination. Thank you. Neil S. Walker (talk) 13:19, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did on Wu Assassins. This violates Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. — YoungForever(talk) 17:03, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi YoungForever, I understand your concern but I did not solely use IMDB as a single source for my research to find the episode titles and directorial/writing credits for Wu Assassins. I also found the relevant information on the Writers Guild of America website and once, I got the confirmation from John Wirth, the co-creator, showrunner and one of the executive producers of the series, via a twitter response[1], I left the table as it was. Though, I will apologize for not citing that information as that should have been the standard response on my part. Elainasla (talk) 19:25, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Twitter account is not a verified account. If it is not a verified account, it’s not a reliable source. This is according WP:RS archived discussions. The Writers Guild of America is a not a reliable source either because it stated Some of the data is self-reported by writers and not independently verified by WGAW. I am referring to your edits from July 30, 2019: [1] and [2]. This was way before episodes were released! — YoungForever(talk) 07:18, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi YoungForever, I understand that and I apologize for my earlier mistake, which as you noted was picked up a week ago. However, you removed the appropriate credits even after the series was released on Netflix. Can you explain your reasoning behind that action? Elainasla (talk) 07:26, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As I said before, IMDb is not a reliable source on Wikipedia. My reason because it was added way before it was released without any reliable sources. Often they are incorrect and other editors or I have to fix them. — YoungForever(talk) 14:58, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Just a note...

[edit]

Co-executive producers are not the same as executive producers and co-producers are not the same as producers. Please stop adding co-executive producers and co-producers on the Infobox television. — YoungForever(talk) 23:09, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi YoungForever, I understand and I apologize for my mistake, but Iko Uwais was credited as a producer in an article[1] from Variety after the series was ordered by Netflix. I don't know what happened since then, but I added that information previously and cited it accordingly. I noticed that you removed it after watching the end credits and notifying me of the change. In this case, what takes precedence? Elainasla (talk) 06:35, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Primary sources such as end credits override secondary sources such as the Variety source when the series was ordered. — YoungForever(talk) 06:43, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The contents are the same, but my file has already been reviewed during the AFC process when I set up the page. Thank you for your additions to the article! Timdorr (talk) 03:40, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please stop reverting this change? I have restored the higher quality version of the image. JPG is the preferred format of photographic images, per Wikipedia:Preparing_images_for_upload. You are risking triggering an edit war, which I do not want to engage in. Timdorr (talk) 04:35, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Timdorr, I do apologise for my earlier actions and my lack of response to your posts on my talkpage. I understand that the changes that I made, have inconvenienced not only yourself but other contributors on the site as well. In light of that, I will rectify my past mistakes and endeavor to closely adhere to the WP:EDITING policies and guidelines from this point onward. I hope that this message will serve as a reassurance and a commitment in good faith to change, so that the following issue will be resolved moving forward. Elainasla (talk) 11:37, 20 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I do appreciate it! BTW, consider filling in your user page so you're more than just a name. I've got to do so myself, but it's rare to see someone with so many contributions and no introduction to speak of :) Timdorr (talk) 02:40, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Timdorr, I will most likely fill my user page in the near future, hopefully, sooner rather than later. Thanks for the feedback though, I do appreciate it. Have a nice day! Elainasla (talk) 00:38, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked indefinitely

[edit]

You have been blocked indefinitely for long-time problematic editing and lack of communication on this page. Wikipedia is a collaborative project, and communication is necessary. If you respond to this block, below, and at the least undertake a) to stop uploading non-free images and b) to respond to posts on this page from now on, any administrator is encouraged to unblock you. Bishonen | talk 21:42, 19 January 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Hi Bishonen, I understand that I have inconvenienced you and some of the other admins and contributors on the site. Although, I have not completely followed due process, resulting in disruptive editing for pages like Medical Police, I have never being malicious in my intent to edit on the site. Though, I am accountable for the issues that I caused and for that, I deeply apologize for my mistakes. However, I ask that you kindly look into my overall history and positive contributions on the site as part of the appeal process to overturn the block. Hopefully, I can be offered a second and final chance to prove myself as a contributor. In addition, I will stop uploading non-free images as well as continuously respond to posts on this page and closely adhere to the WP:EDITING policies and guidelines. Elainasla (talk) 03:10, 20 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

OK. You have been unblocked. Happy editing. Bishonen | talk 11:58, 20 January 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Metacritic's "normalized" scores

[edit]

Hi Elainasla, thanks for your contributions to film articles. I notice that you follow a pattern that goes back many years of describing Metacritic's scores as "normalized". I'd like to ask you to consider using weighted average instead. It's far more accurate. Please see the discussion at WT:Manual of Style/Film/Archive 6#Metacritic's so-called "normalized" scores. The word "normalized" was used years ago on Wikipedia to describe Metacritic's scores, and editors have duplicated the wording since then without actually understanding the meaning. Some of us have been trying to correct this over the years, and we've made some headway. Many articles now do not use the word "normalized". If you could use "weighted average" instead, it would save us the trouble of having to fix it. Thanks! Sundayclose (talk) 17:27, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sundayclose, sure, I will use the weighted average phrase for Metacritic scores when I edit articles from now onwards. Thanks for the feedback, I do appreciate it. Have a nice day! Elainasla (talk) 19:19, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry i wrote the get even movie but i actually meant the assassination nation I’m really sorry for the mistake Shakkk (talk) 02:48, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Shakkk, I don't understand your request. On Bella Thorne's page, you can clearly see that she is already credited for her role in Assassination Nation. Elainasla (talk) 06:47, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for creating Henry Gayden.

Nice article. Two things: Don't cite youtube as a source, and try to avoid starting every sentence with "in [date]," although it's ok to start one or two with that phrase.

To reply, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Sam-2727}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ .

A tag has been placed on Category:Upcoming science fiction television series requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion".
